I have been looking at the following article: https://docs.mollie.com/docs/shopify-set-up-subscriptions regarding setting-up subscriptions which allows Firmhouse & Chargebee, but is it possible to use this integration without?
It seems that these integrations only rename the payment method, and that Mollie changes the SEPA mandate to recurring, so that we can do everything natively in the Shopify checkout.
@harsh harness maybe you know more about this already, couldn't find anything else in either Mollie or Shopify docs, or @mighty dawn

I believe it is not possible, due to limitations from Shopify. But @novel kite can confirm.

Not really sure what you mean. My understanding was you wanted to use Shopify + Mollie for subscriptions, but not use Firmhouse or Chargebee.

That is indeed what I mean, and Firmhouse is using subscriptions through Mollie, so I am wondering how is this made possible

I believe it is a special setup that Firmhouse has with Shopify. Basically what it does, is that the first payment is created via Shopify, and all the recurring payments are triggered by Firmhouse (outside of Shopify), at least that is my understanding.
They have made this option available only for a few big subscription players like Firmhouse and Chargebee.

Shopify says they are not aware of any such solution, they say on their website that they don't allow local payment methods. It seems Mollie triggers a different payment url than normal, and does the SEPA payment for Firmhouse instead of the one time payment.

@quasi void if you would be able to get back to me on this, would be appreciated. It seems Mollie knows when it's Firmhouse, then changes the direct payment to recurring (without disclosing to shopify) and it works in that way
