I may be unlucky or stupid. I have gotten the "nice" achievement but not this one. Is it related to only getting 7 positive auguments and not picking anything else?
Or something I have missed..

So the drone power number is based on two things:
-how many levelups you add to the gun (by picking up a drop pod or boss trophy), and
-how early you pick up those levelups.
So if your attempt is past 777, then when you try again, you need to stop when you have fewer levels.
If you are less than 777, then you should try again and pick up more levels.
If you are super close to 777, then you have the right number of levels picked up, but you should adjust the timing of when you grab them. (Past 777? Wait a few seconds longer before picking up the last level. Slightly shy of 777? See if you can pick up those levels just a few seconds faster.
And if you are uninterested in messing with trial and error, and just wanna check the box, you can do a google search or search this discord. Some people have posted a solution with the number of levels and exactly how many seconds to wait before picking them up.

To keep things simple in your attempts, I recommend having a good drone that can carry you and trying to be consistent about your timestamps. Like, only picking up levels on multiples of ten seconds, or even not picking up any levels for the first couple minutes, then picking them all up at a certain time that you choose, and then quitting and checking what number you get. It's kinda fun to mess with, and helped me understand more about the drone power number. Enjoy!
