Looking at the steam charts, the game has had huge peaks that had a small lasting effect on the player count. It's been 3 years since we had one, also it's lonely hosting a non-campaign pub :(

it would be better to try to ease people into wanting to buy the game by offering more free weekends then faffing about it being "too easy to game"

we dont want them playing for free they might game it!

I mean what are the current benefits of legitimate owning the game?
Achievements, steam friends list, easy mod access, easy multiplayer access. That's about it. makes sense to try to onboard people as much as you can and get them "in the ecosystem" to the point where they dont really want to be outside of it.

Its already hard enough for someone to learn this game solo

so just getting cut off after 2 missions and maybe learning a bit feels like a slap to the face
