Ritual lanterns currently do two things. Heal damage (opium-healable afflictions, burns) and pacify husks. Considering that this is a ritual lantern for the Husk Church, it should also attract husks. The item description says it has Husk Pheromones, so why don't husks follow it? This would be great for trying to pacify husks on a station or sub, then leading them out to sea.
Outposts that have husks should have the option to be peacefully taken back through ritual lanterns leading husks to sea, albeit with the consequence that a nearby station becomes abandoned due to husks. Be free, my pretties!
