#Artstyle Guide

some of it is AI i think
pretty sure they mean sprites, not the AI smushed loading screens they're halfway through replacing
i am getting a little tired of people complaining about the AI stuff
human-generated art run through an AI is not only far less bad than just generating from scratch, but they're also ALREADY replacing it
people seem like they're just looking for any reason to get mad at fakefish and regalis for using AI on everything (i have seen people trying to argue that the sprites are AI too)
i agree that it's bad and you should get actual art made by a human
but i feel like it's blown out of proportion
but yeah an artstyle guide would be good
one of the main things is oversharpening
doing that brings it closer to the barotrauma vibe
helps if you photobash too since the sprites have a pseudo photorealistic aesthetic (because iirc a lot of the sprites were photobashed too, giving it that look)
lots of sprites are real life stock images touched up yeah
Adding a dark semi transparent 1 pixel thick border/blur helps sprites not have the white outline problem
Yeah but it looks just as bad as something 100% AI, because that's how it works
The people who go around saying everything is AI when it's clearly not are just stupid and wrong and should not be paid attention to
I was more specifically talking about the monsters
Painted
ah, well i achieved something close by 3d modeling objects and then rendering them in a 2d angle
i had a sprite of a gun i made somewhere
the compression makes it look barotrauma-like
Yes and? Not AI related
nothing ive said in this reply in particular ever suggested that it was though
