a new structure that serves as a colony for the crawler mob, similar to bee hives or ant nests. this organic structure would serve as a way to acquire much organic loot such as plants and diver's remains. it would be an organic looking structure with walls that can be plasma cut easier than outpost or submarine walls.
it would contain new monsters such as the crawler soldiers- bigger and tougher crawlers(stronger than mudraptors) that would be better dispersed with submarine weapons as they would guard the entrance, and the crawler queen or maybe crawler hivemother, this would imply broodmothers were queens that haven't built a nest yet, these queens would be slightly bigger and tougher than a broodmother and less agile, so that you can keep a distance or maybe lure them out of the nest to kill them with your sub. and of course normal crawlers which would be the drones of the hive, meaning crawlers you encounter through the world are like bees looking for food to bring back to the hive, crawler nests woudln't spawn in every path but paths with nests would have them marked on the map and would have much more crawler activity and less mudraptors. after killing and looting all the crawlers in a nest you would then loot the plant life growing within the nest, maybe crawlers could be like leafcutter ants which cut leaves to feed a fungus that they eat, so there's a specific fungus only found in crawlers nests that can be sold for a decent amount or turned into very effective medicine. Crawler hives would make the easiest enemy much more interesting and make the ecosystem of barotrauma feel more alive.

i like the idea but it would be better if it would be like a place where the crawler broodmother goes to lay eggs
so in crawler missions you get this instead of normal caves
so more like a bird nest instead of a hive
yes
the broodmother doesnt really spends its time there only to f%%k and give birth
and we do have a mod called broodfather so we can make sure there is f%%king in there
that makes sense, I just wanted a slightly more complex structure that isn't too complex, more like, spend 5-10 looting and we're out rather than how long you spend at an outpost
also a non-human structure other than alien ruins
I just want to piggyback on this but wild thalamus’ maybe they’re growing over hydrothermal vent, a cave or something but they undoubtedly existed before humans arrived so at very least thalamus alien ruins
I’ve got it
What if thalamus can infect say end worms?
Basically abyssal corpses infected on the bottom of the ocean
I’d love to see what happens when a husk crawler infects them
Dynamic europa has nests already, but they are a bit too easy
