Miners.

This unspoken backbone of Europa has gone unnoticed for decades. Silently working in hostile waters to deliver you & your crew the resources to continue your journey. Without them nothing would get made, not submarines nor outposts would survive long in their absence. That's why this time, Apollo Industries has decided to produce a ship worthy to handle such an important job. Enter the Kelmier.

Features:

  • Automatic flood doors to reduce water spread in emergencies
  • A sizeable weapon suite for its class
  • Full sized scanner suite for finding nearby ore
  • Fabricators & Deconstructors
  • The Kymet Shuttle, for smaller jobs that need a careful hand

The Kelmier has found itself as a workhorse of all kinds of miners, whether they’re a beginner or veteran, contracted or freelance, many already use it for their way of life. And now so can you. Begin your venture into the booming business of mining and find your fortune, and prove you have what it takes to not just survive, but thrive on Europa.

I mostly build my ships around a theme, like for this one I was thinking about Mining & having to idle for a long while in a single spot

Idk. Helps my build better I think

I'm more of a salvager than a miner myself, but I appreciate the philosophy of going out and getting the resources you need rather than buying everything.

Can't say I'm a fan of the 3 junction + super battery configuration, but other than that it's a nice little sub. I did notice that the two supercapacitors have different values though. An oversight maybe?

And as noted, the shuttle sinks rather quickly when the airlock fills. It would probably still sink even with an airlock half that size. I'll let you decide what to do with that. Change it? or declare it to be a "feature".

#

I sort of like it as is.

So, the super capacitors; the one with the higher capacity powers the coil guns, while the other one powers the discharge coils. I figured they should be on separate charges but maybe I should have combined them.

I do have an idea for the shuttle problem by making the docking port on the bottom function as an airlock / docking port combo instead, a really old ship of mine does the same thing to lower the chance of the ship sinking.

what's the problem?

#

oh, no. I meant one is modified and has 40 charge, the other is vanilla at 20.

#

I figured you probably intended to modify the values on both?

#

Honestly the shuttle problem is very normal. If you make them shuttle sized, they're just not big enough to fit even a tiny airlock without sinking. That little tiny hull at the bottom of your airlock, is over 7%, so if it's full, you sink, to speak nothing of the airlock itself.

#

It's a very cute little shuttle. I honestly would consider just accepting it as a "feature" and calling it a day.

#

Because fixing it . . . Ooof... The shuttle would have to be considerably bigger for that to be really possible.

I gave it thought and ive figured that it would be seen more as a problem that I didn’t fix more than an intended feature I left in, so I tore the airlock out of the old ship to add to this one.

It replaced the normal docking hatch & turned it into a hybrid airlock / hatch combo. Im not sure how, but bottom hatches seem to flood slower than normal allowing you to enter or exit before the shuttle sinks too far.

#

I'm not exactly sure how the airlock floods slower, but when something works in my favor I don't question it too much
