#Make Repair Packs Instant/Automated

Repair packs aren't significantly faster than using regular tools and cost a pretty penny to craft compared to the default. They get consumed if you disengage from repairs even for a second, which makes them unreliable when being bumped around a lot. My solution is to make it click-and-forget tool; when you hit that repair button with a repair pack equipped, it can either

  • Restores the device to 100% condition immediately
  • Attaches itself to the device and continues to do its regular repair time independent of the player
This also means a single player can juggle repairing multiple devices more seamlessly, and gives the repair pack a better situational use

That's a much better idea than whatever the devs were trying to do with repair packs when they designed them.

i don't think i've ever actually used one of these. i thought they were an alternative to welding tools... didn't realize they were just one-off amped tools

Heavily agreed
Also, the fact repair packs get consumed whenever you fail a repair fucking sucks

I wish this was implemented so we got over that

Yeah, there shouldn't be a chance to fail the application of a repair pack. You're spending resources to fix a device. Success should be guaranteed.

In hundreds of hours iv never once seen someone take the repair pack trait or craft one. Repairing multiple devices at once would be amazing (Bonus points if it even keeps it repaired for awhile, say to combat water damage) and make them actually worthwhile, even if it was arbitrary limited to only work on a few devices at once (3~5?)

Attaching to a device, repairing it for n minutes and having a max limit of them being deployed at once might be a good way to make them super useful without going into crazy OP territory.
