Very simple mod that ports an item from my bigger aEquipment mod, this item being the handheld "Nav Terminal PDA" which lets the captain be a lot more active around the ship.

#Nav Terminal PDA - A handheld navigation terminal.

🐐
This would be cool if it was locked behind emergency maneuvers so that the talent actually has a use or somewhere in the skipper tree
Not a bad idea
Updated to be part of that talent
ngl i wanted to see this done for a while
Its actually been done before in 2 mods I know of
Real Sonar has one
And that xbox controller for the titan submarine is one
Code wise its genuinely really simple
<RemoteController target="navterminal" onlyinownsub="true" msg="ItemMsgInteractSelect" AllowInGameEditing="false" drawhudwhenequipped="true" />```
Thats the part that makes it a handheld sonar
Literally just changing how the reactor PDA works
to target navterminal instead lol
TRUE
Captain can now actually play the video game.
Exactly
That is the reason why I made the item originally
I always have to play captain when I'm hosting
And it genuinely made the game more fun for me
Can you still gain helm skill from using it?
Now that i think about it. How does gaining skill even work in the game? Does how broken the item is have any effect or is it just the fact you're repairing it?
Yeah it does still give xp pretty sure
Effectively it connects you to the nav terminal
Not is a new one
And yes you can grind skills by breaking and repairing
doors are good for mechanical skill
I do that a lot. But does how broke the door is have any effect on how much mechanical you gain? like repairing a slighty broken door vs a very broken door.
I think so
But I dont know exactly
Small repairs dont seem to give xp as much I find
But I
dont really pay attention
Dammit. Now I MUST find the answer to this crazy question!!
Try Vyk he knows a lot about the inner workings of the game
This mod makes we wonder what stats we can give other useless talents to make them usefull
Like engi's Reactor PDA talent or The mechanics Safety harness.
Mechanics Safety first could give pressure resistence or a small swimspeed bonus.
Engineers Remote Monitor talent could give Move speed bonus and fire damage resistance when the reactor is melting down.
There is a lot of balance changes that can be added to talents
I'm not too good at abilities in talents
I've dabled only a tiny bit into it
Isn't is just a simple override?
There's also Medical Companion and Delivery System talents that also give no stat boosts.
