#Talent Reset Book

It would be nice to have some vanilla method of resetting your talents other than creating an entirely new character and having to grind for hours and hours to get back where you were.

I was thinking maybe we could purchase an expensive book (for say, 3000mks) to refund all your talent points and choose again. It could start appearing around the time other books appear, roughly around the 3rd biome.

Its relative scarcity and high cost would mean you wouldn't really be swapping talents on the fly, more just for people who make mistakes or realize they really should have gone down some other talent tree (i.e. Crew Layabout regret).

yes, but there are other abilities in those talents.

#

it's not just crafting recipes

#

you could use those as an expensive way to nab specific weapons if you really want to, but there's still value in sticking to specific builds because they benefit you. swapping constantly isn't cheap.

You also present it as some insane advantage, Spruceduck, when getting both PUCS and RFA is something that already happens in normal gameplay. And the time gap between those moments ensures you're not dumping tons of expensive resources into crafting all those items at once.

I think it would be intrested that if you reset the tree, you reset your skills as well, and the object that reset the tree is a low chance of appearing object at alíen ruins

my issue wasn't getting XP faster

#

my issue is talent regret. i.e. crew layabout.

#

maybe you realize you didn't want that. or you wanted another thing and are screwed for the rest of the campaign and don't want to start a new character.

#

also, yes, technically you make 10k per mission lategame but if we're being completely honest in pubs, people really are not very efficient with money.

#

in singleplayer it's effortless to get enough money and resources to have basically reached end-game by the 3rd biome.

#

in multiplayer you are still scrambling for basic resources by the end of the game because humans are horrifically wasteful at everything.

#

3,000 mks is a lot in that setting. not to mention we could just have only 1 talent reset book per outpost.

#

i doubt people will stockpile like 30 talent reset books just for the fun of it for the same reason i doubt you'll ever see a pub where they have 200 morphine stocked up. not enough money, foresight, or responsible use.
