Sammy Lee Davis served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded our nation’s highest medal for valor, the Medal of Honor. He is often nicknamed “the real Forrest Gump,” as the video of him receiving the Medal of Honor was used in the movie with Tom Hanks’s face superimposed over his.

His story is one of extraordinary courage—going above and beyond the call of duty, with a true willingness to lay down his life for his brothers and sisters in arms. Despite all he has done, he remains one of the most humble and inspirational people I have ever met.

I believe his story deserves to reach a wider and younger audience, and I think Mr. Ballen, with his background and storytelling style, could share it in a way that would really resonate. If there’s interest, I can reach out to Sammy personally (I am related to him and speak with him occasionally ) to see if he’d be open to connecting with the Ballen Studio team for an interview or collaboration.
