they were stabbed by a suspected youth gang at about 8pm on Saturday in what police said was a possible case of “mistaken identity”.
the men that stabbed them were masked
"Police arrived at Marble Drive on Saturday night to find Chol with critical injuries and started CPR, but the 12-year-old boy died at the scene.
A short time later, officers responded to reports of another boy who was seriously injured nearby on Cobble Street.
Dau Akueng received treatment, but he also died at the scene after suffering sustained “horrific mutilation injuries”.
It’s understood that a hand of at least one of the boys was cut off.
Disturbing CCTV footage, obtained by the Herald Sun, captured the moment one of the boys, believed to be Chol, was allegedly attacked by three people.
The footage shows the group chasing the boy on the street before he appears to be struck from behind with a machete.
After falling to the ground, the offenders appear to take a number of swings at the boy before fleeing the scene.
A woman can be seen running across the road to the boy, shining her phone light on him before trying to wave down help." - news.com.au
