the toolkit assumes you already know how to work with game assets
so there is no switch or anything to magically turn them on
you have to get the normal assets themselves and replace/add them back

How did you get those player shadows in base source gmod?
pretty sure there's a workshop mod for it
Download the toolkit via the NVIDIA app, make a capture in-game, open the capture in the toolkit and start playing with textures
Any changes you save in the toolkit should show in game, to do stuff like make the combine eyes glow you'll select the eyes and mess with the emissive settings
how would downloading a toolkit know where to put it in so it will work in game?
plus what if i want to extract textures so i can add normal, roughness and new albedo maps in 4k
cuz i think all of them or somehow encoded or idk
They're just .dds format, when you make a capture it puts all the captured textures in the folder you made when you make the project in the toolkit
You can convert .dds to PNG and then import the PNG back to the toolkit once you're done
But it would be easier to use an AI upscaler to start, until you get a feel for ingesting textures and everything
With the above link you can just click on a texture in the toolkit, hit a button in the PBRify UI, and then it will add PBR to the texture for you

the day blender removes the fly mode in the viewport is the day i stop using it (hopefully never)
i hate using the alt, shift, etc + mouse wheel button control layout
its so cumbersome, its much easier to control it like a FPS

i just wanna remaster gm_construct without having to dig out an entire gpu to do it
thats the only reason why i started this 
I've always loved gmod, even with raster lighting, it can look really really good
most of the time I have on gmod is just admiring lighting
its definitely one of the best showcases for remix too, since the entire theme of the game is to mod it, there is no criticism around art style or faithfulness 
a sandbox if you will 
and the fact you can mess around with anything
spawn like 10 lights and throw them around
cover up lights with props
yea i have like 200 hours on gmod rtx just doing that, especially with dupes
I love making scenes in gmod, but with path tracing, the lighting is amazing
yea its a game changer especially
all the more reasons to fix eyes, imagine animations made in gmod rtx 🔥
like, this took very little effort
send that to the gmod server and they will think its made in blender cycles
sfm is really hard to learn
but I don't need to learn it now
simply learning posing and using already made animation and some fudging around with positioning, I don't need sfm

using source 2 models is a bit nicer now, because it doesnt look entirely out of place and kind of plays nice with the lighting
once hl2rtx is completed (soontm) everything will look amazing
it was fixed before but with how we're handling a lot of stuff like x32, we have to leave vertex lighting on or we get broken lighting
would having pbr change that?

people are worried that this stuff will become depreciated like physX did
but this is much more than physX will ever do
I upgraded my computer just so I could have the chance of playing hl2rtx
if you bake the lights into the remix mod then yeah you can disable vertex lighting without any issues
remix api lights would also fix it but im so burned out trying to fix the crashes
a lot of the problem is that these maps on the workshop are kind old
and are using source tricks to accomplish lighting techniques
they dont translate well into remix
having fog on, you can clearly see where the light sources are coming from
sometimes its like 5 just for a small room
so you'd have to like, remake the maps in remix to get better lighting, no?
ye hopefully using the toolkit or blender to relight them should help a lot
or positioning lights
would it be impossible to put these remade maps on the workshop, even if its just lighting positioning changes? I would assume so
i believe the workshop has hardcoded paths and file types so most likely not

no, the only way for them to break is if you patched your main gmod install and then steam updated it
might want to copy over a fresh bin folder if you're doing it on a seperate install

Hey so I've been trying to get Gmod to work. It works all the way up to "Ready to play!" then it's stuck forever.
I followed this tutorial:

But nothing seems to work. If someone could give me some pointers, I'd really appreciate it.

Tried gm_construct_rtx which is supposed to work better than other maps and I tried the normal gm_construct but its always stuck loading

I wanted to install these materials to Gmod. Do I just drag them into the "base_mod" folder? Or is it more complex than that? These materials btw would be replacing the default HL2 materials entirely. Also I have a separate rtx.conf file for the HL2 PBR Pack

i think there was a workaround? i vaguely remember someone else disabling rtxio in hl2rtx and that fixed it.
open dxvk.conf in your main game directory and change it to false
if it doesnt work then its something else, but you'd probably have to wait for a driver fix

you probably turned off NEE Cache

and because NRC suck dick
it yields better results
yet its only screenspaced
i had experiences where its not screenspaced
prob is that if something emissive happens offscreen, it doesnt show up
uncle demo'ed this with the media player and NRC a while back
why did he get 1 sentence banned
also is there an alternative to pbrify
