ok. Changed to pre release and dismissed the login prompt since im on insiders. and just let it sit a minute and got this output.
i did not yet try to login manually

Yep, that's a known issue which happens after our language server exits unexpectedly (in which case something bad has already happened)

yea. Ill just try closing the app
same thing. Let me make sure its closed with task manager
same thing. I tried opening just the app from the start menu with no code and still the same thing as well
this is trying with the token

on the site being already logged in. Then hitting the login prompt on the user icon, it opens my profile page in the browser and nothing. after a minute it times out and opens the page with the token.
with this still showing in vscode

so if i dismiss those prompts and try again, then again dismiss the prompts, and try to do the login token manually, same thing, nothing happens
but
if i DONT dismiss them, then the login token works

yea then opening the command pallete to input the token
the one that said sign in failed just had an X button to close

but when i got that manual prompt and it opened the web page, copied the code and came back i had to open the command pallete any ways. So i could see others maybe trying to close those messages too.
