On R4. Collected the permanent shards required. Then had to unlock and complete 1000 waves.
For fun I decided to backtrack to sector 1. Upon reaching Sector 1, I clicked to move forward. Within just a few seconds I went from 200/1000 to 1000/1000 waves cleared and ready to Unlock the permanent shard.
Overboost kill waves shouldn't count towards this requirement. (10 minutes of wave clears)
