As I get crew XP bonuses and advance in sectors, crew members that haven't been printed in a long time miss out on easy new highest levels and more unlock bonuses. In a tooltip, show how long ago (in real time) a crew member has been last retired, across runs. It could be the "Retire" button tooltip, or a new tooltip when mousing over the crew member job above the rank.

Wouldn't it be more helpful to know what sector you last printed/retired it in as that controls xp rate?
you realize you can basically get that by highlighting the primary stat of a crew member that is inactive and looking at "Time to new highest"? Right now I have one that is 3 seconds from a new highest, and that is the crew member I haven't used in a while. The other two are 17 seconds and a minute and a half respectively, and I have added them more recently.
that's what i've used. they could add a warning symbol meaning like "less than 1 sec to new highest" to show crewmates that need attention
there might be an issue with stat-specific boosts though if those get extreme enough?
like crew shard on engineering, RS set to engineering, whatever else
