Hey all - really wanting to try the Vanilla OS beta but I’m struggling with the USB install image (made from the latest Orchid ISO, on Windows - I’ve tried both Etcher and Unetbootin).
I can get to the first menu, but once I select the first “install” option, it takes me to this error screen, and hangs until I reboot (I’ve left it there for several minutes):
0.333987] i2c i2c-1: Failed to register i2c client MSFT8000:00 at 0x40 (-16
3.024963] hub 8-0:1.0: config failed, hub doesn't have any ports! (err -19)
If I pick either the 2nd or 3rd option (“safe” and “without Nouveau” I believe), it shows that same screen for about 30 seconds, then shows a Vanilla OS splash screen for about 10 seconds, then back to this error screen where it hangs.
Here are my hardware specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor
GPU: Asus ProArt OC GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16 GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650I AORUS ULTRA Mini ITX AM5
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL40
Storage: Western Digital Black SN850X 4 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
I have Secure Boot disabled and CSM enabled on my UEFI.
I only have the one drive and it currently has Windows installed - the “MSFT8000” in that error message makes me suspicious that this is Windows-related, but I wouldn’t think that would stop the USB installer from booting, would it? Or maybe I don’t have a good understanding of how this all works. It’s worth mentioning this isn’t the first time this has happened, it also happened with a Gparted live USB I tried to use for unrelated reasons.
Any help appreciated, thanks!
