thanks a lot, truly! 💙 appreciating it!
if you dont mind, did the drums disturb you rhythmically at some point? i cannot really judge it rn because its still a fresh idea
Ok second listen notes, take this all with a grain of salt!
- I don't like the way the guitar clips at 0:41, sounds like the bad kind of like "input too hot on a digital signal" type clipping (could be my listening environment, could be intentional)
- 1:02 the drums are bit jarring in the transition, but also it feels like an intentional tempo change so this is perhaps more what I'm hearing
- bass tone when it comes in around 2:24 I don't love, especially with the higher notes at like 2:28, bit too honky for me
- drum pattern change leading into 3:00 minute mark is a bit clunky feeling for my tastes, doesn't feel as tight as it could
- actually is that like a fill the drummer is doing or something? For a small section the snare gets some syncopation, moving one of the beats from the downbeat to the &. I dunno. Threw me.
- 3:56 the drummer switches to double time which works but the transition is too sudden for me. A fill there before the double time would build some anticipation and payoff for the listener
- overall it's got the feel of an improvised composition, by which I mean the band isn't quite as coherent in their sections and playing off each other as I'd like. Really feel this from 3:56-4:25, seems like the drummer wanted to end the intensity build early (4:19), but adjusted to keep playing with the rest of the band, and then they all stopped right away and left him hanging a bit
- really want at least some of the strings to come back earlier, like cello at 5:00 or somethin' but that's me getting off track sorry
- 30 seconds of silence at the end is a bit wild but if you have a reason for doing it I'm down. I like arty conceptual shit though so most people will probably say "this is wrong" or whatever.
- overall with regard to the drums I want the kick to be louder but also I'm a fucking weirdo so who knows.
Here's a song from Fall of Efrafa that this song reminds me of. OBVIOUS differences, I may be overstating the similarities in fact, but I love this band and I can't help but mention them whenever I get the chance. The song you posted has no vocals forever or just has no vocals yet?
