Working with field recordings currently is convoluted in Note: it takes many clicks to get to the sampler and record audio. Often the sound event has passed by then. Even Move has a simpler workflow than Note to record audio.
I'd like to suggest a camera like action to bring up Note and start recording. Just like taking snapshots with a camera sometimes being able to capture something right away is important.
This could either be realised by making the sample recording mappable to a button on the phone (one-click) or by having a "record" buttton in the topmost view of Note (two clicks). For the latter putting that button between the "Sets" header and the " +New" click target would be one possibility. Having the "record" button further down on the screen would be more convenient since reachable without having to stretch the thumb.
Recording quality of a typical iPhone is often good enough and speed matters.
Alternatively Ableton should consider developing a dedicated field recording app.
There are no good field recording apps out there. Carrying a Zoom recorder is often impractical and comes with the additional challenge of getting the recordings into Note.
A simple field recording app with easy Note integration would be great.
There a quite of few "One Thing"-videos on Abletons Youtube channel showing artist working with field recordings. Ableton should embrace this approach more.
