#Are convex deployments global

Hi @inland perch. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
Convex deployments are not currently global. All customer backends are hosted in the US East region. This means that all requests, regardless of where your users are located, are routed to the US East data center. As a result, latency is lowest for users in or near the US East, and higher for users farther away, such as those in Europe, Asia, or Australia.
For example, users in Europe typically experience round-trip latencies of about 80–90ms, which is similar to other US East–based services. Users in Asia or Australia may see even higher latencies, sometimes up to 300–400ms for initial queries. Convex is architected for future support of global edge caching and multi-region deployments, but these features are not yet available. The team has indicated that expanding to other regions is a high priority, but realistically, support for additional regions is not expected until 2025 due to current infrastructure constraints and growth demands in the US region. There are no official timelines for when global or regional deployments will be available, but it is on the roadmap and frequently requested by the community Discord: server region, Discord: How does convex provide for multi region?, Discord: slow queries (using indexes).
In summary:
- Convex deployments are currently US East only.
- Latency is lowest for US East users, moderate for Europe (~80–90ms), and higher for Asia/Australia (can be 300ms+).
- Global edge caching and regional deployments are planned but not yet available.
