Disable user registration (sign up)

I am integrating Convex Auth with a Next.js app. How can I disable user registrations?

I asked the AI bot, but it wasn’t able to tell me how to disable it at the Convex (backend) level, just how to work around it on the client-side.

I tried throwing an error from the createOrUpdateUser() callback, but I’m looking for a more elegant and/or official solution. Doing it this way throws an error that the password does not meet the security requirements.
