Hey @​everyone we've got a few announcements tonight:

  1. We're testing a version 5.1 image system
  • V5.1 is more opinionated (like V4) and is MUCH easier to use with short prompts
  • There is a 'unopinionated' mode for V5.1 (similar to V5.0 default) called "RAW Mode"
  • Don't worry V5 is still available (as before)

Other changes in V5.1 vs V5.0

  • Higher coherence
  • More accuracy to text prompts
  • Fewer unwanted borders or text artifacts
  • Improved sharpness

How to enable V5.1:

  • Go to /settings and click "V5.1" (on the second row) or type--v 5.1 after your prompt
  • For RAW mode click the RAW Mode button under /settings (after clicking V5.1) or type --style raw

  1. We're re-enabling the AI moderation (on V5 and newer models)
  • We've taken your feedback from the previous test run and things should be improved now
  • We've changed the AI appeal system to be limited to 25 rejections per day

Hey @​everyone two quick updates

  1. AI Moderator now "Auto Appeals"
  • We're finding there's very few prompts being flagged as 'unsafe' so we're auto-sending them through the second, more powerful AI 'appeal' process now
  • This should result in fewer rejections and a smoother experience (no need to press 'appeal')
  • If you find your prompt is still being rejected incorrectly press the "Notify developer" button underneath the rejection message to help us improve our system. Thank you for your help!
  1. Repeat & Permutations now available for $10 members
  • For Basic Memberships we're now allowing single commands that start up to 4 jobs
  • For the repeat command that looks like --repeat 4
  • For permutation that looks like a {dog, cat} in the style of {vaporwave, art deco}
  • Standard / Pro membership limits remain as before

If you're on a 10$ membership please be careful about using up all your hours this way! This is mainly meant to let everyone experiment with the features and get maximum productivity for when you need it.

Hey @​everyone to celebrate the new v5.1 release we are turning on free-trials for the weekend.

Old accounts that previously used a midjourney trial (but never got a paid membership) are now also refreshed / re-enabled for a new trial too.

Give the new v5.1 a shot and enjoy! ❤️

Other notes

  • Due to technical issues we can't reenable trials for people who had paid accounts but don't anymore. Maybe next time!

Feature: LLM Moderation has been added to the bot! See relevant #952771221915840552 for more details. This system will continue to get better as time goes on. If you have a prompt that was blocked that shouldn't have been, please drop the full prompt in #1100553606761041991 for the devs to take a look at.

**Change: ** When remix mode is enabled, you can now remix entire grids via the re-roll button (instead of only being able to remix individual images previously). You can turn remix mode on and off by using the /prefer remix command.

Change: Occasional captcha's have been added to the service. They will appear in your DM's now. This addition is to help prevent automation abuse. Please be aware that using third party apps or scripting to automate your Midjourney creations is strictly against our TOS. You can read our Terms of Service here: https://docs.midjourney.com/docs/terms-of-service

Change: Buttons now turn red if there is an something wrong that needs your attention (this includes captchas, but also errors such as "queue full").

Change: Slightly reworked /settings panel. Expect some more changes to this command to come as Midjourney continues to update its models and features.

New Quality of Life Improvements

  • There's a new Imagine All button for /describe jobs that renders all 4 descriptions at once
  • There are new args for --fast and --relax so you can set specific jobs to fast or relax mode without having to use /relax or /fast
  • --seed should now be consistent between fast/relax mode
  • --video should work now for V5 and niji5 models (including outpaints)

Quick Notes about V5.2

  • We're seeing a lot of people have a hard time porting V5.0/V5.1 prompts to V5.2 if they're using high --stylize values. If you used --stylize in V4/V5.0/V5.1 you may need to re-adjust your numbers for V5.2, Try reducing it by much as 5x. Meaning --stylize 1000 V5/V5.1 should be a --stylize 200 prompt for V5.2
  • Custom Zoom (under all upscales) lets you actually 'change' your prompt for the zoomout, this means you can change the enviroment completely when you zoom and it's pretty cool, try it out!

1) Now testing /turbo mode

  • Typing /turbo mode makes your images up to 4x faster for 2x the price
  • Excellent for group settings or if you're just in a rush
  • Pricing may change as we update this in the future with faster speeds
  • This is using a experimental GPU pool so if it runs out we may disable it or create temporary limitations
  • Turbo mode only works with fast hours

2) New "MEGA" Membership Plan

  • This is a 120/mo$ tier with 60/hr/month of fast-hours
  • If you buy tons of fast-hours (beyond a Pro plan) it's 2x cheaper to have a MEGA plan (or 2.5x with yearly plan)
  • The MEGA tier lets you run in /turbo mode all the time and still have the same amount of usage as Pro

3) Experimental --weird command

  • This command makes your images look more weird / edgy
  • Do not consider this a stable feature, what's weird may change over time
  • It goes from --weird 0 to --weird 1000 (actually 3000 but idk if you need it that weird)
  • The strength of this command is dynamic with the prompt (you may need to adjust it prompt-to-prompt)
  • We recommend starting with smaller values such as 250 or 500 and then go up/down from there
  • If you want it to look weird AND pretty you should try using --stylize along with your weird
  • If you use --stylize with weird we recommend using a equal value for both parameters
  • Combining --weird with --seed is a bit messed up right now, make sure you set --weird 0 if you want to do comparisons

Hey @everyone we're testing a new feature today called "Pan"

How does Panning work?

  • Underneath your upscales you'll see arrow buttons ◀️ ▶️ 🔽 🔼
  • If you click an arrow it will extend your image in that direction
  • If you type /settings and click Remix mode you'll have the option to change your prompt as you extend your image. Use this to tell panoramic stories!
  • As you pan out your image we will keep extending it even though the resolution will become very large
  • Yes, that means you can keep panning multiple times!

Current limitations

  • Variations are not supported on panned images
  • If you zoom out on a panned image its resolution will decrease back down to default size
  • You cannot pan both horizontally and vertically on the same image
  • You cannot control the amount you pan with each panning operation
  • You may see 'repetition' as you pan, to avoid this try changing your prompt as you go to include new details

Heya @everyone we're going to begin upgrading our GPU clusters (incrementally) today.

This is gonna happen in phases and there may be hiccups, but the good news is that this should (generally) result in free benefits that will start with smaller groups of users and (hopefully) eventually hit everyone.

Phase 1 Cluster Update (Starting today)

  • Pro and Mega users immediately have access to a new GPU pool which speeds up their /imagine jobs by roughly 1.5x (~30 seconds now vs ~50 seconds)
  • These jobs also consume ~1.5x fewer GPU minutes (meaning they're also cheaper)
  • Anyone who upgrades their membership to Pro / Mega should immediately get priority access to this new (limited) GPU pool
  • Any spare computers from this pool will randomly accelerate jobs from Standard/Basic Tiers (at no extra cost)

Hey @everyone we're testing a new feature today we're calling Vary (Region).

How do I use it?

  • It will appear underneath upscales and if you click it, a 'editor' will appear which will let you 'reroll' a specific area of the image.
  • If you type /settings and click 'remix mode' you will also get a text box in your editor which will allow you to change / modify the prompt for the region

Tips and Tricks

  • This feature works best on large regions of the image (20% to 50% of the image)
  • It's not a magic fix and often it may be best to do a Vary (Subtle) instead
  • Changing the prompt will work best if it's a change that's more matched to that image (adding a hat on top of a character) versus something that's extremely out of place (a dolphin in a forest)
  • In a best-case-scenario you can use the 'prompt remixing' feature as a general purpose inpainting system, however, we would warn that this can sometimes be quite frustrating as the system may fight your intent (sorry!)

On the whole, we find when you use this feature as intended (over larger areas, or with small prompt modifications) it can be quite fun! and we hope you enjoy it!

Hey @everyone we're releasing two new upscalers today a 2x upscaler and a 4x upscaler.

More information:

  • You can see 2x and 4x upscale buttons under any normal V5 or Niji job after clicking U1/U2/U3/U4
  • You can use it on old jobs using /show jobid
  • The upscaler is subtle and tries to keep details as close as possible to the original image
    (but may not fix glitches or issues with the old image)
  • The 4x upscaler costs roughly 3x more GPU minutes than the 2x upscaler

Please Note:

  • Both upscalers only work with fast-gpu time right now
  • We don't know if we have enough GPUs yet to enable it in relax mode.
  • We may do brief load tests over the coming week where we enable it on relax mode and see what happens.

Known issues:

  • Under very rare occasions you may see get a black or corrupted image on 4x upscales (we are investigating)
  • A blurry low resolution image will not be 'unblurred' by upscales
  • Images might get slightly slightly darkened sometimes by upscalers

This first release is focused on searching, browsing, and viewing images. Organization features (such as collections) and image creation features will be included in follow up releases.

Some cool things to check out today

  • Improved design and performance on desktop and mobile
  • Clicking images brings up a new 'lightbox' mode which you can quickly scrub through with scrolling or arrow keys
  • Clicking an image while in 'lightbox' mode puts you in an 'immersive' view where you see the images and nothing else
  • When scrubbing through your own images you can press the 1,2,3,4 keys to rate them quickly
    (you can then filter by those ratings with 'filters' in the upper right near the search bar)
  • Personal search is now done inside your own browser and is instant (try search in the upper right under 'my images')

  • The Style Tuner lets you make your own Midjourney style
  • Even though we call it a "style" it's a bit more than that, it's really controlling the "personality" of the model and it influences everything from colors to character details
  • You can optimize specifically around a single prompt or setting (including non-square aspect ratios, image + text prompts and raw mode)

How do I use it?

  • Type /tune and then a prompt
  • Select how many base styles you want to generate (cost is proportional here)
  • After clicking submit it'll show you estimated GPU time. Click to confirm.
  • A custom "Style Tuner" webpage will be created for you. A URL will be sent [via DM] when done.
  • Go to the Style Tuner page and select the styles you strongly like to make your own
  • Most guides/mods recommend selecting 5-10 styles (but any number works)
  • Use codes like this /imagine cat --style CODE
  • Remember you can make TONS of styles with a single Style Tuner! Always try a variations and play.

Hey @everyone @here we're releasing an early test version of model personalization today, here's how it works

What is Model Personalization?

  • Every time you write a prompt there's a lot that remains 'unspoken'. Our algorithms usually fill in the blank with their own 'preferences', which are really the combined biases and preferences of our community.
  • But of course everyone is different! Model personalization learns what you like so that it's more likely to fill in the blanks with your tastes.

Model Personalization Requirements

  • Right now model personalization learns from votes in pair ranking and images that you like from the explore page.
  • You need to have roughly 200 pair rankings / likes in order for the feature to work
  • You can see how many ratings you have on the above page or by typing /info

How do I use Model Personalization?

  • Just type --p after your prompt, or turn on personalization for all prompts under /settings or the prompt settings button on the website
  • When you enable personalization you get a 'code' added after your prompts, you can share this code to share the personalization effect being applied to that image
  • You can control the strength of the personalization effect by using --s 100 (0 is off and 1000 is maximum and 100 is default)

PLEASE NOTE: The personalization is not a stable feature right now, it will change as you do more pair ratings (subtly) and we may be pushing out algorithm updates over the next few weeks. So just assume that it's a 'fun feature constantly in flux'
