To the dev team:
Just noticed a poll that was closed asking if a map should be introduced. Although the poll results leaned towards implementing a map please take my reasoning as to why it should NOT be added into consideration. Adding a map removes the suspenseful/immersive nature of the game which I would assume was the reason for not adding a map in the first place. The design of proximity chat was to provide further suspense since you wouldn't know if the rest of your team is alive unless you witnessed their death or came across their body. This also forces the need to effectively communicate and be organized in their approach to solving the level. Adding a map will remove the suspense if you can identify where your teammates are located or determine if they died just by pulling up a map. Furthermore, some levels are specifically designed to be a maze requiring the explorative ability of the players to successfully find the exit as opposed to evading entities. Another poll identified that majority of the player base enjoys the explorative experiences within the game meaning that adding a map would go against the main aspect of the game that we enjoy. Lastly, complaints serve no benefits without solutions, a middle ground that is likely to please the both sides of the community is making a map that you must find on each level that can only be held by one person at a time and dropped upon death. In addition, do not display player status or location on the map, the most entertaining/fun/suspenseful aspect is not knowing if a fellow player is still alive or not. This proposal will provide necessary information without losing the intended need to coordinate effectively with your team and maintain all the aspects of the game that your team incorporated as the core/base experience of the game.
