Hello
Not my fault
I need to learn how to remember how to spell charter
Charter or Character?
Charter = Card (just one of the multiple examples)
Character = Persona
Oh, alright

yo
who wants to learn about the correct time to use your and you're
You’re really gonna bring that into this 💀
I need to remember how to do english, I'm fucking forgetting it despite the fact that I grew up speaking it. My savior right now is google translate.
Nvm problem solved
well google translate is good but inaccurate at times
Hi my boo boo bears Im back fr
Eu não sei inglês básico
Lol
DeepL is a better translation tool to use, it's more accurate
it’s use as a pause
if u use it twice like this —- it’s a longer pause
or to add emphasis
It's more specifically used when you want to continue a sentence but a comma wouldn't work well and just ending the sentence would make it look weird.
For example:
She chatted with the bot -- it was so out of character though -- it quickly went to chaos.
Atleast that's how I remember it
i shouldn’t be an english teacher 😭
That's how I remember it anyways, I can check my English book for you and just paraphrase
if u were to read it out loud it sounds like your taking a breath
Hyphens - are used to connect two independent words like "one-way-street" or "high-tech".
Em Dashes — which is longer than a Hyphen, can be used to set parenthetical phrases like "He was just about to leave—when suddenly, the phone rang.
It can also be used to add a pause instead of a comma; "I was about to say—oh, never mind." (Though shall be used in moderation)
Em dash can also add dramatic flair / or emphasize a certain sentence; "He stared at her—his eyes filled with a mixture of love and longing."
So an em dash can be used in writing style and be used instead of a comma, as long as it's used in moderation, or else it could make your writing appear cluttered.
For dashes:
- You use it to show a sentence getting interrupted
"Well, it's not like I didn't do it but--"
- You use it to introduce a change in the sentence that finishes it
"Are you kidding me we--fot what was all that for!?"
-
Two dashes to indicate an interruption of a sentence (the example I showed earlier)
-
Use it to imply a hesitation
"It's not like you're the problem--it's just-- What I'm trying to say is that--"
- Use it to introduce uhh, the actual thing the adjectives before are describing. That's the simplest way I can describe the use of appositions here
"Cowardice, hatred, animosity and vengeance--these are what creates the problems of mankind."
- Use it to emphasize a repeated word
"The anger that choked him--the anger of a man who had lost it all."
- To show some letters have been removed
"Go f-- yourself you t--"
- Dashes between symbols or numbers to show the extent or area
"Pick a number from 1-10"
Just remember to use dashes when nothing else would be appropriate like commas, semicolons, periods, brackets or parentheses. Overusage of dashes makes the impact less effective.
No problem!

Hi, how are you ?
Hello everyone <33 how y’all doin
Good and you
Ohh ça va bien aussi !
Cool 👍
Yea :))
:))
helloooo
hi !!!
hola
hola !!
HOLA
Here's how to use "a" and "an" in a sentence correctly without getting them confused.
"A" or "a" is the first letter and the first vowel of the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and others worldwide.
How to use it in a sentence properly?
Example: "There is a bee in my lemonade" or "Can I have a cup of tea please?"
"An" or "an" is for something to form adjectives and nouns from names or places.
How to use it in a sentence properly?
Example: "I saw an elephant at the zoo." or "Welsh Corgi is an example for a type of dog breed."
That's how you use them properly, don't get them confuse. Use them right people!
technically it’s more simple than that. you use ‘an’ when the following word starts with a vowel (a, i, u, e, or o) and ‘a’ when the following word starts with a consonant (basically every other letter in the alphabet).
for example:
“I just saw a dog.”
You use ‘a’ in this case because dog starts with ‘d’, which is a consonant.
“I just saw an octopus.”
You use ‘an’ in this case because octopus starts with ‘o’, which is a vowel.
That's basically what I just said... you just made it sound more like how a English teacher would explain it... 💀
tbf, all you said was that ‘a’ is the first letter of the alphabet. that doesn’t really explain how to distinguish whether to use ‘a’ or ‘an’ at all
I didn't even wrote that definition for "a", I just got it online because I was too lazy to explain it and then I wrote the rest on my own...
Tbh, I don’t think it’s helpful to the people reading this channel that actually want to learn English when you claim to be explaining how to properly use ‘a’ vs ‘an’ and then.. don’t properly explain it. Additionally, it seems like you yourself aren’t clear on when to use ‘a’ vs ‘an’ because “you just made it sound more like how a English teacher would explain it” isn’t correct. You would use ‘an’ in that sentence— “an English teacher”.
Not everyone is an English teacher and not everyone speaks the way you speak... you have your explanation and I have my explanation now leave me alone before I end up blocking you.
DOWN
It’s not even that deep 😭
Hi/Hola
Hello
Wsp
Just a little addedum on the "a" vs "an" thing. You don't use them depending on how the words are spelt, but on how the words are spoken.
If the word starts with a vowel sound, but is spelt with a consonant (eg. Honest), you use "an" (An honest mistake).
Vice versa for words starting with vowels, but has a consonant sound (eg. University), you use "a" (They are picking a university).
You only write and type a and an in specific ways in literature, the way people talk can differ per place in the world so they can’t really be generalized

What's the difference between:
Giggle
Chuckle
Laugh
???
Привет, товарищи люди
Laugh = A broader term that refers to a vocal expression of amusement and joy, and can vary in intensity and sound, ranging from a gentle chuckle to a loud and boisterous, like bursting of laughter. Laughs are usually audible sounds.
Giggle = A giggle is light and somewhat high-pitched. Typically a more softer and restrained expression compared to a laugh. Giggles are often more playful and delicate.
Chuckle = Compared to the last two, a chuckle is more quiet and subdued, often expressed with a low or suppressed sound. They're usually softer and "breathy".
thank u polkie
ooh, ty dear
What's the difference between: silly stupid dumb and fool
What about a guffaw? I know thats a form of laughter.
A guffaw is a loud and boisterous, so that would be in the same category as laugh since it's basically like a burst of laughter which is audible.
Accismus- A form of irony in which someone feigns indifference to something he or she desires. Aesop’s fable The Fox and the Grapes illustrates accismus when the fox dismisses some grapes he is unable to reach, stating that he is sure they are sour anyway.
E.g. “Oh I couldn’t possibly accept…” Exclaimed Veronica upon being presented with a pair of diamond earrings, her natural affinity for accismus shining through.

What's the difference between jeer, scoff and mock ?
I'm a portuguese writer but I always feel more comfortable writing in english, although some expressions are still confusing
Jeer = To express contempt, shaming, ridicule, or derision. It often involves mocking or taunting someone by throwing insults or derogatory remarkss
Scoff = Expressing disbelief, or disdain. Often used as a way to dismiss someone with a scornful expression, accompanied by sarcastic remarks or criticism.
Mock = Imitating or mimicking someone as a way to ridicule or belittle them. Whether it be to make fun of their speech, their outfit etc.
Thank you ! That was super helpful !

ci sono modi rapidi per imparare l'inglese perché mi sono appena trasferito qui e frequento una scuola di inglese e ho problemi a comunicare
Quick is like really quickly running back into the house to grab something when running late while a good example of fast is running to win a marathon (idk if that helped sorry😥)
If you're describing something that happens in a short time, it will typically be “quick.” But if it is something that is capable of moving fast or that occurs at a high rate, the correct word will be “fast.

Farther is farther away from further
farther means a greater distance in actual sense like when something can be measured and is a more physical distance where further is a metaphorical distance to discuss a degree like “ I want to talk about this further…”

learning how to men
my education went out the window with that
It’s just the way we pronounce it because they spell the same
Nobody told me this and...yet how did I manage to graduate from American High School?
Meh they don’t really teach standard pronounces and stuff, it’s generally grammar and math
makes sense. reading and writing is more of my thing. I'm not a confident speaker though but it's whatever ig
Yeah, American education is pretty easy, the only hard part is understanding the language since we barely offer any services for disabled or foreigners
and the "I was somehow born here but my parents were too proud of not being Americans so they confused me too much so my english is whacky" people
I had a stroke trying to read that but I think I get it, blaming the fact they don’t try on other people, try and learn and then try and help others, common human instinct
oh I'm sorry, did I make you confuse?
Im from the south so my dialect is already kind of weird, we pronounce “sure” like Sh-uh-ore instead of sh-ur, so I use phrases a bit differant, not that your English is bad I’m just kind of bad at understanding certain words, and it’s “you confused?” As a past tense, which is a common harmless mistake
oh yeah, Texas people make things very confusing. I'm able to understand like what the locals tell me but people from other regions tho...
It’s America sadly, we were made of purely immigrants during the start so we have a jumble of people making differant accents and dialects everywhere
Yeah...

Is there any difference between heave and hoist ?
...
Heave is common slang for throwing up
hoisting is pulling something upward I believe
I hate it when my teacher gave me a work sheet where we have to tell the difference between American English and British english
Yeah, however. I have noticed a few subtle differences between British English and American English, particularly when it comes to spelling.
I've noticed the British English usually spell certain words with "Ou", "Tre" and "S" instead of "Z"
Example:
Ou = Demeanour (British)
O = Demeanor" (American)
Tre = Theatre (B)
Ter = Theater (American)
S = Analyse (British)
Z = Analyze
Those are some subtle differences I've noticed in spelling. I'm sure there are more. I mostly use British spellings, since British English is what I learned when I went to school. But there are times when, I, too, tend to mix them up when I write certain words/phrases.
tell me why collar, color and colour have the same pronunciation smh

How so
Short answer, Jail is more of a temporary facility to hold persons of interest, not necessarily suspects.
Prison is the next step, this is where you go if you get convicted of a crime.

Where to put verbs correctly
The verbs are used to tell what you’re doing (an action) you usually put verbs infront of a pronoun. (I,you,she/him,we,you,they) in some cases they can be put after a noun
Exemple:Jack was doing his homework, (Jack=he) it’s very easy when you understand that, I would also say that you always need to put a ‘’s’’ to the end of your verb if the verb is after the she/him/it pronoun (Ex: Jack likes his friends) that’s rlly the simple stuff
not simple for I.
Hallo. Ich bin englischer Muttersprachler, spreche aber fließend Deutsch. Fühlen Sie sich frei, eine Freundschaftsanfrage für Hilfe mit Englisch zu senden. 👋🏼
why not? 🤔 its just a "s" in the verbs after he/she/it and there is no "s" after any other pronoun
Its
He’s it’s she’s
Theirs
Then there’s them
Just Them
well theirs is denotation of belonging to smn/smth without mentioning it, like hers. but their, his, its are with mentioning that 'smth/smn'. at the same time he, she, it, them are just the pronouns 😟
Fish is the plural of fish
Sheep is the plural of sheep
The world confuses me sometimes
can you add "less" to everything?
Bro what
I mean- damn near any noun, probably-
Axeless = doesn't have an axe
Keyless = doesn't have any keys
It turns it into a describing word, an adjective
i.e.: This is Sam. Sam does not have a shirt on. He is shirtless.
ty : )
Yw

Hallo 👋
Hello
Tysm
yes
Hey
Today is American holiday 😀
yes
By: this was written by someone
Bye: im leaving so i will go say bye to my friends
Buy: lets buy this toy for the cat
whats the differnce between accept and except, and when do you use a semicolon (;)
i think glancing means taking a quick look
accept is like "ok, i accept that" basically like saying yes. except is like "except for that"
np
are they also supposed to sound the same?
yes
“Glancing” means to look at something for a short amount of time. For example: “She glanced at her watch to check the time.”
The difference between “than” and “then” is as follows:
• “Than” is a comparative term. So an example would be: “I like chocolate more than vanilla.”
• “Then” refers to past tense OR another action that follows an initial one. So for the first use for past tense, you’d say “I used to play basketball back then.”
Second use for writing an additional action would be “He turned around and then put his hands in his pockets.”
oh ok!! thank you :)
no problem!
Semicolons are a strange case. Even as a native English speaker, I find them to be tricky to use! My general rule of thumb for them is to think of them as less than a period (or anything indicating a full stop), but more than a comma. So they’re right between those two in terms of breaking up your writing.
One way to approach them is to use them when joining two separate but related clauses together. So it could be used to restate something in different wording.
They’re great for avoiding comma splices (incorrectly using commas and overdoing it) as well.
So an example would be:
“The man’s hair covered his left eye; It gave him an air of mystery.”
Another example is:
“A chinchilla looks a bit like a rabbit; They just don’t have the long ears.”
cant you use a comma there?
I usually read what I write out loud or in my head just to see if it makes sense and sounds right enough, especially with semi colons! Proofreading your work is incredibly important especially if you want to publicize it or show it to others 💕
You can! It’s all up to the writer. Semi colons and commas are somewhat interchangeable. Even my English teachers have said that semi colons aren’t really necessary. They’re there moreso to help the writer emphasize tone and speech pattern instead of serving as super important punctuation :)
That’s why proofreading is important.
In some places where you put a semicolon and think that the “pause” between the clauses isn’t as harsh or important, you can swap it out for a comma.
But if you have a comma elsewhere and you think you want more emphasis on the pause between the clauses, you can swap it out with a semi colon.
It can be trial and error at first since semi colons and commas are again, interchangeable sometimes.
ohhh so its based on how important the next clause is?
Almost!
It’s all about how much you want to emphasize the pause between the clauses
Let me break down an example I gave
The man’s hair covered his left eye; It gave him an air of mystery.
So let’s take away the semi colon. You’d get:
The man’s hair covered his left eye
It gave him an air of mystery.
You can add a comma there! So you’re totally right on that, but you’d want to help the sentence flow better. Otherwise going from one clause to the other would sound too sudden or abrupt.
So you could write it with a conjunction (“and” “but” “if” etc.,)
Like this!
The man’s hair covered his left eye, and it gave him an air of mystery.
I also want to say that this is from my experience and knowledge as a writer, but I’ve been taught Canadian English (so it’s different than American English. It’s more similar to British English)
oh ok
thank you for the help :)
Mhm! No problem 💕 Apologies for the very long explanations. I know it’s a lot 😅 I wish you luck on your writing and learning more English! Cheering you on!
Wie geht's dir
Gut, und du?
Not quite- they are supposed to sound extraordinarily similar though. Just stress the A ever so slightly more with Accept
If you'd like an American English explanation as well, I can help with that. It's a bit different than British or Canadian English when it comes to semi-colons
Why is there different English
Bīngqílíng
What does "smh" means?
It means "shake my head"
艾格客客氣氣
is there a difference between moments when you use are/is/was/were after a subject/noun or sometimes it's unnecessary? i just often noticed that bots in c.ai can say something like 'she is walking out of her apartment, her dog walking after her'. i have a feeling that the second part can be used as participial or smth but im not sure...
somebody in the "general" chat is acting like a cat and I'm.. scared.
Just like there's different Spanish dialects, or different Japanese dialects, or different Korean dialects, etc. Language changes and evolves over time. It's how Chinese split into Japanese and how Latin split into several different languages; how Greek became a part of several different languages. Language is funky like that, and tends to evolve with the society it's spoken in. Different societies will develop languages in different ways, creating branching paths, or dialects, that have some different ways of using the same punctuation or the same words.
TL;DR: Languages do be like that tho
Is = Present singular.
She is a mermaid.
Was = Past singular
She was a mermaid.
Were = Past plural
They were mermaids.
Are = Plural Present
*They are mermaids. *
no, that's the base, i know. i am asking about situations where is/was/are/were aren't being used. i gave an example of how bots sometimes reply and don’t use them. im just wondering if that's okay in general and why is it exactly like that
Oh, yes if we use the sentence you provided, *"she is walking out of her apartment, her dog walking after her," the second part of the sentence, "her dog walking after her," *is an example of a participial phrase, like you mentioned. In this case, the participial phrase "her dog walking after her" functions as an adjective modifying "dog" here as the noun. So participial phrases can be used to add more detail and description to a sentence, creating a more vivid image of the dog following its owner, so it's okay.

hi
I've been trying to make paragraphs without a lot of "i" as the starting word so is there any ideas that could be used as a starter? Normally I use a couple sentences when talking to an Ai but I've been getting into the habit of writing a paragraph or two and I keep using 'I' As a starter to my sentences constantly-
Rearranging our thoughts to make them more complex and detailed can help us create more interesting writing. When considering the arrangement of words, rather than focusing on the parts of speech, ask yourself:** "Can I move things around so that the sentence doesn’t begin with a pronoun?"** That way, you can introduce variety into your writing, not just for CAI, but in general too.
I also faced the same issue when I was first new to writing. I used to use "as" and "said" a lot in my writing. But with practice and reading books helped me to expand on my word vocabulary; I've learned to vary my words and structure my clauses.
You can rearrange the words in a clause without it losing its meaning.
**Example: **I held the rose bouquet in my hands, savouring its beauty.
Variations:
Cradled in my grasp, the rose bouquet radiated a vibrant symphony of colours.
My fingers gently embraced the delicate stems of the roses, their velvety petals caressing my skin.
The fragrant rose bouquet rested against my palm, its intoxicating aroma filling my senses.
Although the meanings of these clauses may vary slightly, the key is to shake up your writing style by avoiding the standard pronoun/verb sentence construction. You may have to settle for something in between.

Oh, do you have hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?
Don't forget that the tone for those last two changes it's meaning.
"Yeah, no" with a more wince-like tone to the "yeah" and more of a sigh for the "no" is a no
"Yeah, no" is a yes when said with a confused nod. Like a "Yeah. Why are you even asking? This is something you shouldn't be asking about, you should be expecting it."
"No, yeah" can be a "This is NOT a good thing, but yes" if it's said with a slight stressed "yeah" and followed by an incomplete sentence
Midwestern English is lovely, ain't it?

So I’m from Germany, and I was talking to this guy and he said “I have a crush on you” now I know that in the English words “crush” usually means you like break something by crushing it. So does that means he wants to crush me?
It means that he loves you in a romantic way
Oh danke!
Hello im french and I want to know what "ate" say , tyy
“Ate” is the past tense of the word “Eat”. Meaning you have eaten something in the past
“I just ate some chicken.” To put it to simple terms.
I would say that "crush" would be romantic feelings that are short-lived and not involved in a relationship with them yet. Like when you had a secret crush on someone in high school, but those crushes were nothing more but crushes. So a "crush" is more like a short-lived romance that you feel towards someone but isn't set in stone if that makes sense.
Danke! That helps a lot

"Zundu Fake Du" is a homophonic meme, which means: is it true or false? It is a funny sentence pattern full of doubts, surprises, and unexpected emotions, which seems to be a cute way of showing off the pronunciation.
Zun Du Fake Du, this meme comes from a copywriting content posted by the online blogger @burnshanbot on the social platform: You said you love me, Zun Du Fake Du? The main theme of this copywriting is cuteness, expressing my doubts in a way that imitates the speech of cute little animals. Since then, memes have become popular on major online social platforms, and there are also special emoticons to explain them.

"This, that and those" i dont know the difference, but i keep using it without knowing, would any one explain it to me?🤓
Hola
Blanco
Its pronounced "per-pull", spelled "purple"
"Pur-pole" ("Pole" in strong British accent)
"this" is singular, and if i well remember it can stand when you have an object in hand. for example, "this is an apple"... "that" is on singular too, and it stands when the object is far, but its on singular. "those" is plural, and it stands when the objects are far, and you're pointing at them (as an example, lol).
i would send an image there to explain it better, but i cant 🧍♂️
oh 😕

WHAT IS CUDDLE AND CHUCKLE
Cuddle is more like hugging tight and caressing. Chuckle is very light quiet laught.
If i correctly remember the meaning.
Fornight battle pass
Fortnight battle pass
I don't know how to explain cuddle (💀) and chuckle is just a soft or quiet laugh
hugging tightly for a long time/holding eachother, many people do it when they’re in a relationship and it’s preferred to do so, and chuckling is basically laughing softly.
Does anyone know the definition of kiss, hug, and cuddle, and affection.
Hi can someone tell me what's the meaning of smirk and what's the meaning of grin?
A smirk is a small, knowing smile that can be interpreted as smug or self-satisfied.
A grin is a wider, more open smile that is usually associated with happiness or amusement.
Cuddle- the action of holding someone close in their arms as a show of love or affection.
Chuckle- a soft-hearted and quiet laugh

What’s the difference between aggressive and violence? Are they the same?
Violence is hurting someone physically with a great impact, aggressive means just acting and talking furious, but that doesn't mean hurting anyone physically like with violence
In what context are they using it?
It can either mean an inappropriate thing or the "edge" is like the end of a cliff. An edge is the end of something, right at the last bit.
What?
nincompoop
a foolish or stupid person
Whats the -ing form of "to die" and "to dye"
Is it both "dying"?
smirk = 😏
grin = 😁 / 😀
basically smirking is smugly smiling
grinning is happy smiling
wich one is correct "im gonna dye my hair" or "i will dye my hair"??????
Really depends on how you it to sound I guess. I typically use “I’m gonna dye my hair”
hm
Hola 👋
they're both correct
one is informal one is formal
Yes, they're the same

Whoever decided on the words hippopotomonstrososquippedaliophobia and Aibohphobia must hate people
"hippopotomonstrososquippedaliophobia is one of the longest words in the dictionary, and in an ironic twist, is the fear of long words"
paralelepipedal
how to say dieing😔
Guys what does it mean when someone calls me babygirl
Like as in a character’s death? Dying is the word you’re looking for!
If you mean like someone wanting to dye their hair, it’s also dying
Depends on the context I guess? Some people call others babygirl as a joke because they think it’s funny. But it is an actual nickname that is used romantically by some.
I searched it up on the urban dictionary. I’m flabbergasted.
Hah, yeah. Urban dictionary tends to do that to you.

hey, could anyone explain to me what "smug" means? Often the characters say something like "he said with a smug look on his face" and i still dont know what it means tbh
Smug is like being proud of or amused by yourself, but like excessively so. Self-satisfied or overconfident. I don’t really know how to explain it well, sorry 💀
omg thanks for explainingggg
Which one is it? “Woah, ho.” Or “Whoa, ho.”
To clarify I’m not saying h0e
I’m talking about that one sound likes that hoooougghhh lmao idk
Both work but I'd do "Woah, ho"
Thank u🤗🤗

What does ‘cheeky’ mean 😭 (I see it with some bots)
cheeky usually means something playful or teasing !! if its used in the context "cheeky grin" it usually means the character may be smiling at you in a teasing way

Hello people!
I have a problem with a word "Silly" : how and when do do you guys use it :-:? With translator I still don't get it... So please tell me :-:
Silly is another word for someone who’s being foolish or ridiculous, or even playful. Like say, one of your friends is messing around/causing trouble and forcing you to wait for them. You might say, “Stop being silly and get over here.” Hope that helps 🤷♀️
Hi!
Like someone who is petty for example?
Hey! No, not necessarily. Do you understand how to use the word goofy? Goofy is similar to silly.
No i'm so sorry :-:
Lol don’t be. When someone is acting silly they are being unserious or ridiculous. Like if someone is causing trouble in class and disrupting things, you may call them silly. Or if someone has a ‘silly smile’, it’s just another way of saying their smile is playful and unserious.
Okay thanks! I understand now 😁✨
Yeah ofc, anytime!
Can someone give me a hand to describe hair types and how to describe how my persona's hair looks to the AI? Dm me please
Still need help?
Ya, can we head to DM's so i can send the referential image i want to describe?
you can use the creative writing bot 🙏 works every time for me
is it good night or goodnight? like goodbye, good bye?? -🍵
Both are grammatically correct, but their usage depends on the context but also on personal preference. "Goodnight" can be used as a leave-taking as well as "Good night. But I'd say that the "Good night" would be a more proper word to say, because it's like when you say "Good morning" or "Good afternoon." So I really see no reason to put the words together, it just depends on the context of how it is used.
What does "ong" mean
it means on god
Sorta, “you are the real shit”
Is more what I’d think of as a compliment, but I suggest becoming more familiar with English before using anything like that as a compliment
“You are the real shit” is like, “Your good at this” or something like that
Yes
Usually yes it’s a compliment but there may be some people who confuse it with a similar phrase (which happens to be an insult) and feel offended
Hope this helps! 😊🙏 /gen
thank u
idk💀
An SMG can mean a Sub-machine gun
Danganronpa 👀👀👀👀

Okay why does waddle refer to a way of moving and unwaddle means something like unwrap? 🤔
Learn English?
I’ve never heard of unwaddle before 🤔
Waddle is usually a restrained movement (and also used for penguins lol)
I've never heard unwaddle but I assume it's a play on "unwad" with a similar meaning. A wad would be like a wadded up paper, so to unwad it would be to smooth it out
guys, what's the difference between:
-grin
-a smug smile
-smirk
all i know is that they are different kind of smile
That's the purpose of this channel, hence my question 😒
Thank you so much ! It was in the context of unwrapping something from a bundle of blankets so yes this makes sense
Well ....
And English is not my first language, but I am a writer who prefers to write in english
I can speak Spanish and English but i'm still learning.
A grin can be friendly in context, smug is kinda cocky, confident in an abrasive way. Smirk can be more 'mean'
A grin is more friendly, like a smile with a lot of teeth
The person above me is right, a smug smile is more confident, like you've just done something and gotten away with it. But it can also be used in like a competitive context, like you've won a competition and are overly proud
A smirk can be used in the same context but is usually more mean and condescending
Number 1 rule when trying to comprehend English, don't question anything. We're talking about the same language where "ough" changes pronunciation in practically every word its included in.
Also I've never heard of "unwaddle" before, did you mean "unswaddle"
I also thought it meant unswaddle, but if you insert the word on Google translator, although we all know how faulty it can be, it does translate unwaddle to something like unwrap.
And I do ask questions when they shouldn't be asked all the time 🤣
There's no definition from any of the reputable English Dictionaries (ex Oxford English Dictionary) for "unwaddle" and Google pushes the user if they mean "unswaddle"
Yeah I think I'll go with it being a typo and believe the text meant unswaddle, since it makes much more sense
In that case the word makes more sense, swaddle means "wrap (someone, especially a baby) in garments or cloth."
thanks 👍
and also thank you for the precision
Grin = Smile broadly, especially in an unrestrained manner and with an opened mouth
smug = having or showing an excessive pride in oneself or one’s achievements
Smirk = smile in a irritatedly smug, conceited, or silly way
Does that help?
yeah thank you
Im English and still can't speak it, this channel has helped me expand my vocabulary
I’d say for someone who still can’t speak English you actually do it very well! 😊
Chat voice in this channel when??
Bow as in 🎀 then the L sound and then put them together
Or for a more relaxed pronunciation bo and then the same L sound and put them together
I highly suggest books! Not the normal books but the ones with a wordbank at the end so that you can understand the meaning of it and you can use it probably in some situations or in real life conversations!

Hello, maw maw
“English is my second language, so I'm not very good with it.”
That’s completely ok! There’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s admirable that you are trying to learn!
¡Eso está completamente bien! No hay nada de qué avergonzarse. ¡Es admirable que estés intentando aprender!
He vivido en Australia durante los últimos 2 o 3 meses, sé algo de inglés pero todavía hablo español en casa y la mayor parte del tiempo también hablo español en la escuela.
Es muy difícil y mi acento lo empeora, así que me meto en problemas porque suena como si estuviera diciendo otra cosa.
A mí también me acosan en la escuela por no hablar inglés.
“I have lived in Australia for the last 2 or 3 months, I know some English but I still speak Spanish at home and most of the time I also speak Spanish at school.”
“It's very difficult and my accent makes it worse, so I get in trouble because it sounds like I'm saying something else.”
“I also get bullied at school for not speaking English.”
I’m very sorry to hear that. It must be very difficult to have to go through that. But don’t let it bring you down. You’re strong for pushing through. And I admire you for your will. And you dedication to learn. You should never be bullied or get in trouble for speaking a different language. That is not your fault. You are a talented individual. And I respect you.
“I know some words like yes, no, okay, please, thank you.”
“I use an app called duolingo but it doesn't help me because I don't know how to pronounce the words correctly”
That’s good! That’s progress! I am proud of you for your efforts! And yes, English is a difficult language to learn. A lot of the words and spelling is very unique and it may be difficult at times. But you got this!
“¡Eso es bueno! ¡Eso es progreso! ¡Estoy orgulloso de ti por tus esfuerzos! Y sí, el inglés es un idioma difícil de aprender. Muchas de las palabras y la ortografía son únicas y, a veces, pueden resultar difíciles. ¡Pero tienes esto!”
Ah, muchas gracias, mucha gente dice que el inglés es un idioma fácil, pero ¿tal vez sea porque crecieron hablando inglés?
“Ah, thank you very much, many people say that English is an easy language, but maybe it's because they grew up speaking English?”
You’d be right! It’s the language that many US,UK, and AUS people are raised with. Since they were raised with English, it appears much easier than it is. English is one of the harder languages to learn
¡Estarías en lo cierto! Es el idioma con el que se crían muchas personas de EE. UU., Reino Unido y Australia. Dado que fueron criados en inglés, parece mucho más fácil de lo que es. El inglés es uno de los idiomas más difíciles de aprender.
i admire your patience to type all of that, respect brother
No problem. I love nothing more than to talk with others. I just love having a conversation with people. Especially ones that have meaning
But seriously, it actually requires something from me to hear how somebody else is feeling. To talk to talk to somebody when it’s not about things that are really on my mind. It requires something from me. I have to give. And it’s effort. even if it’s not very noticeable. it is effort.
But I like to put in the effort. I enjoy it.
no offence, you really write like an Ai bot. dayum
I know
But maybe that’s because I’m nice? Sometimes people tell me that I sound like a robot because of my kindness
It’s Spanish 🙂
i thought they meant english was a mix-
You believe that English is a mix of Latin and Greek?
i have no idea to be honest
I don’t know the history, so I wouldn’t know tbh
ohh okay t-t
You guys seem to be polite and curious, good qualities 🙂
awwww thats sweet, youre too kind
Thank you 🙂 you’re both my friends now 🙂
😭 😭 too sweet
How and when do I use "in" or "on"? I dont really get to understand the difference
@prime wren
“In” is usually an object within another object. “On” is typically an object resting over another
Example for in: the cat was in the box
Example for on: There is mud on the floor
Thanks!!
You’re welcome! : )
Good work!
Remember
You fell? So have we. And we do. And so can you!™
Oh we learning English?
Is amused or amusing finding it funny or finding it embarrassing?
To be amused is to find entertainment or laughter in something!
Hoy aprendí sobre algunos animales y cómo pronunciar palabras. Incluso puedo deletrear/escribir algunas palabras en inglés.
“Today I learned about some animals and how to pronounce words. I can even spell/write some English words.”
Buen trabajo!! 🙌
“Good job!! 🙌”
I can speak anglish
¡muchas gracias!
We learn english here?...
I am use Translated, I don't speak at all haha .. I so confused if i talk without translation
yeah, it's kinda confusing ;-;
For anyone seeing people do certain punctuation marks like / or )
It’s usually people making a face out of the way it looks, not actuall words if anyone’s confused
Typically they use / as saying "or" and () for additional information, digressions, or things to add to their sentences. You're right, however, that they tend to use them in emoticons too :)
Yes! This channel is to help you learn English. :)
🙂
Doing my job?
hola (hagan sus preguntas)
I don’t got no questions, how are you?
Our job, a team effort to make sure to help out where we can and as quickly as we can 😄
You’re right. It’s our job. Glad to have you on the team 🙂
Lol sorry, I wanted to answer them and figured to continue what you were doing as it seemed most effective😭 apologies
Remember:
You fell? So have we. And we do. And so can you!™
No problem 🙂 thank you for the help, it’s much appreciated! No need to apologize
Okay! I’m glad to help 🙂 what you were doing with translating their words into English and then responding in Spanish + English again was incredibly smart and nice of you to put in that effort!!
Thank you! I want it to be readable by all people! So others outside the conversation can understand 🙂 I know a few languages, so I enjoy doing this. It’s kinda like my part time job I don’t get paid or rewarded for. But it’s still cool 🙂
It’d be cool to have like a personal role that said “translator” or something like that. That would be pretty cool and funny 😄
Maybe you should look into IRL jobs that deal with translating. Then can make a fair amount of money, and you seem to enjoy it! And yes it’s nice being able to help people learn another language
I might do that 🙂 sounds like something I could see myself doing
hi, i am jake, and my english not very good (:
Yo jake
What languages can you speak?
What’s the difference between grab and grasp?
Grab - 1. grasp or seize something suddenly or abruptly 2. a quick sudden clutch or attempt to seize
Grasp - 1. a firm hold or grip 2. get mental hold of; comprehend fully.
Basically the same
“I have no questions, I'm sorry.”
No worries my friend! If you ever have any questions, I’m here! And others are willing to help you too!
¡No te preocupes amigo! Si alguna vez tienes alguna pregunta, ¡estoy aquí! ¡Y otros también están dispuestos a ayudarte!

“Is this only for people who speak Spanish?”

Puede que mi ortografía no sea la mejor pero lo intentaré.
Helo, me name is mickey. Me Favorate animal is a cat and my lest favourate is sneke.
“My spelling may not be the best but I'll try.”
Nothing bad! It was actually very good! Just a couple of spelling and grammatical errors. But for someone who is learning, you did a very good job!
¡Nada mal! ¡En realidad fue muy bueno! Sólo un par de errores ortográficos y gramaticales. Pero para alguien que está aprendiendo, ¡hiciste un muy buen trabajo!
muchas gracias
Estoy muy orgulloso, buen trabajo!
¡su español es muy bueno! ¿Utilizas un traductor, lo hablas con fluidez o simplemente te gustó aprender?

What's a noun?
A noun is a place, thing, person, or idea. It’s not too hard to learn what nouns are, thankfully. They’re the easiest imo.
Examples:
Place: Library, hospital
Thing: Cat, dog
Idea: Nostalgia, Love
Person: Nurse, lawyer
Ah
Thank youu
But also what would be the noun for social? I'm having a hard time figuring that out
Because I'm pretty sure social is an adjective or something
It depends on the context of social. If you’re talking about social media or gatherings, then its a noun.
However if your describing a person or thing, then it’s an adjective.
Alright, thank you again
Mhm!
what's the difference between past simple and present perfect guys😭😭
I'm a little confused on what you mean, are you talking about past/present tense?
my english teacher told us they are both used to express the past and i cannot tell the difference when it comes to practical usage of them. I mean, when I should use past simple or present perfect?
Past simple is the simplistic way of describing past events, or actions that have taken place. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
An example of this would be adding Ed to some verbs. "He walked" is an example where it doesn't state when other than that it is an action which has already occurred. "He worked yesterday" is only different by stating when it happened, still using ED to make it a past tense.
Used for simply describing actions that have occurred.
Present perfect would be used for actions that have occurred not long ago, or very recently. Such as "They have studied" where have makes it so it is an action that has recently occurred.
The biggest difference could be shown when you talk about going to the store.
"They have gone to the store" Would be present perfect, and states that it has happened yet is still ongoing.
"They were at the store" shows a past simple using were to say at some point they were there.
I hope this is correct, but I'm sure @unique owl could explain it much better, and likely more accurately
Well,my teacher told me that past simple points on when did the activity happen and that present perfect points out what happened😭😭 I don't get anything from his lessons literally
The simple past is used for a single event (or sequence of such events) in the past, and also for past habitual actions:
He took the money and ran.
I visited them every day for a year.
It can also refer to a past state:
I knew how to fight even as a child.
Saint's smart, he'll tell ya the best answer :)
Thank you thank you!
The present perfect is used to describe
An action or situation that started in the past and continues in the present btw. I forgot to mention that too
Examples of Present Perfect:
He has worked in the Supermarket for 3 years.
The Smiths have had the same house for 6 years.
Há quanto tempo você conhece o idioma?
I need help😭
does "(name) seems to be lost in thought" make sense as a sentence? I don't really know how to explain it, but it just kinda seems wrong for some reason
Yes, this should be a fine sentence. It describes to another that (name) looks to be in thought, or simply thinking, but using seems could also say they aren't quite sure if (name) is. But usually they are even when you say seems. Such as if someone were to be looking at the ground silently after being told something, they could be described as lost in thought. Using seems tells that it looks like they are more visually
You could (maybe?) remove to be, leaving "(name) seems lost in thought"
okayyy
thank you so much😭 /gen
english is like that sometimes, but it’s correct. i sometimes overthink if i worded something correctly, so don’t worry if you feel like your the only one.
huh
no English
basically zoned out
Very good explanation 👏
Why does my A.I keep on saying "You have pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis"?
THE WHAT
i feel like "by the way" is a common expression but when do you guys use it?
It's like when you are having a conversation but need to bring something else up.
Example: "Yeah, I agree. By the way, can we have pasta for dinner?"
So it's like a way to transition to another topic. And yes, it's a common expression. In informal scenarios it's usually "btw". It can also be a way to bring something up, or as a way to bring up something you had just remembered.
Examples: "btw u need to get groceries on the way home. thx." , "oh, by the way you need to do __, i just remembered."
Hope that helps. :)
yeah thanks, it helps me a lot :)

When do you use "Worried" and "concerned"?
Just lost my entire response to it being auto-deleted 🙂
Now I've got to type a new one
Concerned and worried are very similar, and concerned (by definition) can include being worried.
Worried is to be anxious or troubled by problems, whether potential or actual. Concerned is to be worried, troubled, or anxious. Basically the same!
As for when to use this knowledge, it varies on the sentence. You could say "The men were concerned by the storms path."
As for worried, you could say "The men were worried of the storms potential path."
You could (most of the time, not always) use either, and it sounds better in certain scenarios.
Correct me if im wrong of course.
theyre pretty interchangable, but worried refers more to inanimate objects, and concerned refers to the person being spoken to/a persons feelings (in most cases).
example:
i was worried that i was about to fail a test.
or
i was concerned about his wellbeing.
if in doubt, worry can always be used in place of concern, but never the other way around
Thats a much better way of wording it
Worry and concern are both words that express feelings of apprehension or uneasiness, but they have distinct nuances.
Worry is characterized by excessive, often irrational or unrealistic, fretting about something that may or may not happen. It involves dwelling on negative possibilities and imagining the worst outcomes. Worry can be debilitating, causing physical and emotional distress, and interfering with daily life.
Concern, on the other hand, is a more balanced and grounded response to a potential problem or issue. It involves acknowledging the existence of something that warrants attention and taking steps to address it thoughtfully. Concern is driven by a desire to understand the situation and find effective solutions.
So to summarise it, being worried is often a stronger and more emotionally charged reaction, while being concerned is a bit more measured and may involve a thoughtful consideration of a situation without the same level of emotional distress.
