It's a gladius but it's balanced strange so I don't know if normal swordfighting techniques would work with it

Plastic helps because it's affordable, and makes it so you need to buy less gear. Though, generally less durable.

A lot of techniques are transferable between Katanas and Longswords so it's not extremely difficult but I can tell they're still used to the less defensive tactics of a Katana.

But in doing that they're discovering ways to use it that I don't think any other group really could.
