I have an intel mac, powered by a processor by Intel. Recently they have switched to their in-house ARM silicon, called "Apple Silicon". But personally I am going to switch to a linux computer soon.

#

I have heard good things about the power efficiency of new Apple computers though.

O alr

#

But mac's are safer against malware and such

Well, it's partly because you have to pay $100 usd per year if you want your software to run on macs (That's what I was talking about in the support channel)

low cliff
#

You pay extra for the software to work?

primal pebble
#

No, the developer does.

It's also because earlier less people used macOS, but recently a bit of malware has started to come up. I think the same is for linux

You can install random software from the internet in all 3 major operating systems.

#

Specifically for linux, most people use repositories so very rarely they have to go on the web to get updates.

I don't think that github checks for malware. But github is just one place you can download software.

#

You're right, there are a few permissions in system settings. the same could be said about linux.

linux can still easily get viruses from repositories (iirc at one point node was hijacked to have a virus as a dependency?) it's just a lot more rare for some reason

You can run it on any computer, it's more customisable, doesn't require you to install homebrew for basic functionality

runs super well as well unless you're using stock ubuntu

vestal lantern
#

yeah generally

low cliff
#

Ok

Both macOS and Linux will be a lot different from Windows. It will take time to adjust.

Anyway

#

Thank you bro
