We are extremely excited for DreamHack, for hosting our first Major, and we cannot wait to meet up outside the Arena. Hello everyone! We have a few important updates to share regarding The Grand Major 2025:
Open Qualifier Map Pool & Veto
Due to technical limitations, the Open Qualifier map pool will include 7 maps (meaning that Seoul – Under Construction will be temporarily removed).
The veto process will be:
Team 1 bans → Team 2 bans → Team 1 picks → Team 2 picks → Team 1 bans → Team 2 bans → remaining map is the decider.
Supported Platforms
*Open Qualifier: *players can compete on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation.
Closed Qualifier & The Grand Major: matches will run on a specialized PC-only tournament build. Console players are still welcome, just ensure that you can access a PC for the day playing the Closed Qualifiers, and download the build in advance. Gamepads remain fully supported in THE FINALS.
On-Stage Tournament Monitors
At DreamHack Stockholm, all matches will be played on 24” 1920x1080 240Hz monitors to ensure consistent performance across all players.
More slots for the Open Qualifiers 1
On Monday the 25th of August at 1pm CEST we will remove all teams that are not at capacity, meaning 3 out of 3 team members to make room for other teams that want to sign up! If you have not had the chance to sign up yet, make sure to check out the registration page at that time.
Registration for Open Qualifiers 2
The second chance for the Open Qualifiers will open registration on Monday the 1st of September, we will remind you when this is open!
We are super excited with the amount of teams that have registered to sign up on FACEIT to play the first chance Open Qualifiers!

This was a spectacular show presented live from the ESL Studio in Stockholm by our amazing cast: Ardy, Gerry and Rio, as well as our unforgettable weather station: Oscar, Thiixy and Caroline.
We'd like to congratulate all the teams that have earned their tickets to Stockholm as well as the ones that didn't. You all played amazingly and gave us such a great display of pure, raw talent. And finally, thank you everyone who tuned in to this event. We all had a blast here, and we hope you did as well.

A clarification on RFI eligible events and PHL Season 3.
Under the RFI program, Embark maintains sole authority over the official eligibility criteria in RFI events. This structure exists to ensure consistency, fairness, and equal opportunity for all teams competing within the ecosystem.
We care deeply about grassroots esports. The RFI framework is built to support community organizers, empower local competition, and create a fair pathway for players to grow. That only works if the rules are applied consistently and transparently across all regions and events.
Season 3 of PHL was initially granted RFI sanction, as their initial application was in line with the RFI rulebook. However, PHL recently made independent eligibility decisions affecting multiple players. When we learned of these decisions we informed them that acting on them would impact RFI eligibility. Despite this, PHL maintained its position.
To be clear: this situation is not related to a player boycott, nor was it a voluntary withdrawal from RFI. The RFI status was lost because the event no longer complied with the program’s rules.
We cannot enforce or recognize competitive bans made independent of our official system. Doing so would undermine the consistency and fairness the RFI system is designed to protect.
Our goal remains the same: to support a strong, community-driven esports scene built on equal opportunity for all players.
We are currently working with other Tournament Organizers who have submitted their events for RFI status, and hope to update you shortly on upcoming RFI events!

We have reviewed these concerns carefully, including with external legal counsel, and are confident that at this time, our decisions and actions have been appropriate and within the scope of our responsibilities as a publisher and organizer. We take these matters seriously.
Over the past days, we have seen and heard the discussions regarding our esports plans for this season.
For the sake of our community, our players, our partners, and the long term health of our game, we believe it is responsible to temporarily pause our current outbound esports efforts. This season's competitive model was built with strong intentions, and it is our role to ensure it meets the standards we set.
Competitive play remains an important part of our vision for THE FINALS. This pause gives us the space to evaluate and review the system in its entirety, and determine the best way forward.
