like i was reviewing the lore for season 2 and there is a log entry betwen the casters talking about the bos of their boss from multico going to the offices to discusss the fuck up with CNS

and so far that was the worst season, so it might be that nexus had a shareholders meeting to discuss why the game was in such a state

AI is usually trained to accomplish some goal. An AI to run a gameshow should try to increase engagement from the audience, so if CNS is part of that AI, after taking over CNS would do just that. (“Let’s have some fun” in season 2 trailer)

But that doesn’t jive with the apparent motive of CNS though, ‘cause CNS is basically telling the audience to touch grass (the truth beyond the walls).

I like to think CNS is telling people not necessarily to touch grass, but to save it. Like, your real world is rotting away and you're here, in a different world letting it happen?? And then it just happened to backfire and make people like the show more

Obviously part of the finals originally is wacky enough though. Maybe the goal is to break the audience’s suspense of disbelief.

Maybe they were people who made the ai and then multico being the monopoly that they are screwed them over? Saw a yt vid where they pointed out CNS could stand for central nervous system which, yes, does have to do with your brain and such, but unless I'm stupid (very likely) AI has a sort of nervous system too, AKA it's "brain"

I was the one hypothesizing that CNS is part of the Finals’ AI.

CNS in humans include brain, brainstem and spinal cord. Meanwhile, I don’t read enough research to know if people tried making a deep neural network with a CNS like humans have them…

We don’t know exactly how the Finals’ AI worked. But I get some motivations surrounding it:

A lot of physical chaos and math happening in real time might mean traditional physical simulation is too slow for the game’s pace (lore-wise), so approximating it with AI might be a better option. Tbf AI of this scale might have too much baggage to go that fast, unless computers in 2100 can run these big networks at those speeds, which is kinda believable.

Now if CNS in humans grant self awareness, MultiCo. wouldn’t deliberately design the AI to have that central nervous system.

We do know the brain and CNS developed via biological evolution, and the AI literature has evolutionary algorithms to selectively find the best-fit AI.

So my theory is MultiCo. tries to train the finals AI to run the game show via evolutionary algorithms, but accidentally allows the neural network to form a CNS on its own.

Real AI training like ChatGPT usually is chaotic because people don’t know exactly how the input produces the biases the AI has (how it will behave), not in the same way a bunch of equations and clear steps can be explained…

But for CNS to form the way this theory goes, the Finals AI needs neuroplasticity - not just strengthen/weaken connections but also form them. Human brains can do it (all ages, but especially children), idk if current AI can do it, but the finals lore? Maybe.

ARC Raiders is a third person extraction adventure created by Embark Studios. While originally slated to be a looter shooter and come out in 2022, it was delayed to become an extraction adventure because the original take got stale according to devs and feedback. The ARC are a mechanical enemy who use reinforcement training to learn how to walk, shoot, aim etc. I sadly cannot delve to much in depth on the game, because its under NDA but you can sign up for the tech test yourself under steam. my theory is that cns was rushed into season 2 (with the TA and Powershift) to maintain/keep the playerbase instead of introducing them slowly

and since there wasn't really much of a build up or a way to taper them off slowly the story continuity was abruptly cut short and instead embark found a way to keep players hooked with the sponsorship rework

again, my own theory. maybe embark might introduce cns again in S6 but we have yet to see

These might show that players are simply a rudementary neural copy, which supports @rain hornet 's theory that the finals is a feeder league. What I mean is that the voicelines you hear from opponents when team wiped are supprisingly simple, things like "stun gun fun!" or "stealing a cashout from a baby". If these are simple copies, it would make sense why what they say is so dim. They are not fully developed

Is it possible that the finals was an AI originally created to make neural clones? Basically to bring on the Singularity and free people from their bodies but Multico is using it make neural clones for a different purpose. CNS are a collection of real people and neural clones working to reveal the true purpose of the network.

It could be that most people are already neural clones but don’t know it. The corporations are keeping them acting like people to maintain control. Keeping them acting like consumers.

It could be the reverse and the corporations are a few human elites and AI and the rest of the humans are all slaves. The AI managed corporations are using mind control and marketing to keep humans operating only as consumers. It could be the AI are just hyper-advanced algorithms evolved from the kinds used by Facebook to manipulate user behavior. If so keeping you logged in and monitored would be the only way to maintain control. If this is the case then “taking back what is ours” is about freeing the internet from corporate control. This is pretty on point if I had to guess. Brain computer interfaces are already being worked on for stuff like Meta's Project Orion and whatever Valve is cooking up with all those BCI patents, and it fundamentally uses machine learning to "learn" how to interpret your neural input data as computer commands, joystick movement, etc. Any company working on BCI tech is pretty much guaranteed to be getting an AI model trained on your activity out of it, whether they use it for evil or not. The real question is definitely, "what are they using the data for?"

Jaron Lanier, who is credited with coining the term virtual reality, also created the term siren server to denote a company that lures people in with free services and consolidates power and control until it dominates your life.

The Finals being an AI could mean it’s a self modifying algorithm and not something like Cortana. It could be the AI is derived from algorithms used in social media to control your behavior today. OR it could be a self modifying algorithm building a game world that is designed to grow creatively over time instead of manipulate you and it is being misused by Multico and the sponsors to keep gaming static, people addicted and profits high.

CNS may be the original developers and want to allow the AI to push the limits even force it to do so.

It might even have been a canon event and they meant to remove it after one season but the circumstances were inverted, they wanted the CS mode with the whole one life thing to be fan favourite and multico taking it away wasnt supposed to be an overwhelmingly good thing, so now you're stuck in a situation where multico are the good guys 😂 with no real possible explainations

I think it’s just an ad. That’s it. We overdramatize ads in real life all the time to push a product/service. It might be a look into the real Meatspace, it might not. It also might just be one part of the Meatspace. I don’t see a refinery in the real world and assume the entire planet looks like that. It’s just an edgy, cyberpunk style ad about the power they provide. Also I’ve seen people mentioning it’s just taken from the Batmobile. It very well could be, but maybe not out of laziness. Embark’s CCO, Rob Runesson is big on Easter Eggs, and currently the big EE Hunt has involved clues for The Dark Knight. It very well could be a nod towards that for hunters. Even then, it’s just cool.

Games that I can think of with an interesting and engaging dystopian angel are ones like Inside, Half Life, NieR Automata, The Stanley Parable. The CEO of Dissun is Damien Vossler. We saw his image in the beginning of the season. Really Fat guy, gold chain. I do not think the man shown in the car is the same figure, but we didn’t necessarily get that good of a look at him.

However, The new store bundle ‘Combustion Icon Set’ has a sound titled, ‘Vossler’s Motto’ with the same voice as the guy in the car saying “Power is Power”.

Realistically I can see both angles.. but as Spear said we’re making too many assumptions of so little info.

I was thinking about the game like- The FINALS is a show but if its running multiple games at once from users who can access it like a video game how can SCOTTY and JUNE omni-host all these shows? I think they definitely use AI for voice lines for scotty and june in terms of game development. Canonically my head cannon would be that they have special Ai enhanced chips that allow them to over see every game at once (up to 24 players across 8 teams in two servers for world tour as an example. I think the different servers would be a canonical thing) Or they're uploaded themselves into some type of sentient Ai and no longer have physical body. They definitely need to use Ai in some capacity in order to handle processing and announcing and makes jokes with all that information
