Hello, been a while since I've been here. This is a piece of my mind, and a sentiment to seasons past on this game. 1.9k hours. That's a lot of time to waste, and I don't like wasting time.
I don't think any of these changes are the changes needed nor that people have been asking for. This game has a serious identity issue it should REALLY figure out. Read that .txt cause man I've seen some stuff and this is that culmination of that surmise.
If I get banned for writing all this then good, proves me right. If not, I'm just gunna leave anyways, so I really don't care.

The goo gun nerf would not be problematic if it was actually good at anything beyond combat, right now in the meta the cashout just gets launched into an open area with no cover, where heavy does not have anything like data reshaper to deal with those situations

A non combat goo gun is theoretically usable in indoors situations, but the current game meta just does not have that in dia+, every single cashout is just hole - wall - winch

So when you top that off with goo itself being nerfed HP wise and being way too easy to destroy, it just lost its plot, in what scenario is it useful now? Outdoors is useless, quick cover already exists with barricade, goo nade and dome shield where the spec slot gets filled up by something way worse than winch claw comparatively
In what world does winch claw not get reworked but this happens instead? Was goo gun really that much of a problem compared to how winch is turning the game into a roof sniper simulator?

I think to supplement the new changes, the heavy health should be at 325 but with a faster movement speed to make it a little more noticeable.

The light however should have its health brought down to 160-165 seeing as that grapple and dash barely shows the impacts of its character's base speed being reduced.

as for the goo changes, I am not seeing anyone liking it so I don't really have anything to add other than it's absolutely terrible. breaks kill setups, kills goo gun efficacy, makes stalling impossible.

all these changes only serve to kill skill expression and fun, without really making the experience better for new players imo.

Goo gun stunchains were absolutely terrible and anyone with a brain knew it would be nerfed eventually.
Health and movement changes for respec order are great. The devs have spent three years trying every possible way to balance the game while leaving those untouched, and are telling us directly they will not create a better game without these changes. You may not like it because you are used to a certain way of playing, but that issue is because your muscle memory is having to adjust. Everyone said the same thing when the health regen changes were rolled out for each class - it will ruin balancing, make the game too arcade-y, blah blah blah. Everyone now agrees it was the best choice to make. They are not removing class identity, they are just making class identity better manageable.

The melee issues are a bug and they will fix those.

And saying "skill expression" is 100% pointless. I have never once seen someone say "skill expression" to mean objective skill, I have only ever seen it to justify why someone's opinion should be respected. The devs have years of balance data to back up why these changes need to be made.

Embark, you just killed an entire play style. Goo sledge/spear was such a unique and fun play style that was actually pretty well balanced (otherwise it’d be seen in competitive play all the time). Goo gun was easily the hardest heavy spec in the game to use. Goo gun was basically nerfed by 75%. I don’t think there has ever been a nerf this heavy before. Like I’d be much happier if you had halved its ammo and made it take longer to reload, but instead you made one of the main functions of this specialization completely useless. The worst part is, you’ve messed with goo locking before! Every time you reverted the changes and apparently you STILL haven’t learned.

Also the speed/health changes that you plan on implementing are going to kill class identity even more than you already did when introducing healing to light and heavy. The main thing that brings people into the game is the raw variety of play, and it feels like you are actively trying to make all of the classes feel similar. Don’t do that! We want them to feel unique!

Embark. You are killing your game! You don’t listen to your community, you make unnecessary changes that hurts the larger player base, and you only seem to cater to competitive players. This is almost the last straw from me. I used to have so many unique play styles that I enjoyed, including goo spear. I loved how every class felt so different to play. Now the only thing keeping me in this game at this point is dagger. If you touch it, I’m done.

Bring back Head2Head!
It was the most strategic but also laid back gamemode and it catered to an audience that the game does otherwise not reach. While it created solo-queue problems, those are solvable by either only allowing 3 stacks to queue or extending queue times and putting solos in only solo lobbies, or creating heavy penalties for players that leave games after it started!

I'm liking the health and speed changes, personally. I'm running more in line with my team and it means more engaged fights as opposed to a series of 1 v 3's. Also, I've no idea what these complaints about goo gun are, but I use winch. Oh! Speed changes makes heavy melee feel much more viable. Big fan. 🙂 I hope it stays!

I've just lost a game bc a misleading wipe sound. I thought our opponents were wiped but it was an another one far away from us. And this isn't the first time. There should be a difference in the sound, maybe the far wipe should be dimmer and/or in a lower pitch.

This is the worst patch I have seen on the finals since I started playing at launch, why did we change the sliding and quick melee mechanics, now this game is starting to feel like apex with all the dead slides and the way quick melees work now.

I've played goo gun since open beta and I wholly expected some sort of balancing to happen to it eventually. I think the CC ability of the goo gun fit the heavy theme of being a tank. If anything I think the ammo per clip should've been reduced, essentially nerfing the CC durability. It took some ability to lock a player down, and it left you vulnerable since you had to focus a single enemy. There was also skill expression involved as the goouser would have to hit the enemy torso to effectively block them from shooting.

I think the approach to balancing the goo gun was bad. It really gutted what has potential to be a niche and interesting playstyle unique to the finals. Meanwhile we have the Winch, obviously the most popular specialization likely since release, and a rehash of something already done ad nauseum in the industry, with the same headaches other games have experienced implementing it.

Overall I think Embark does itself a disservice by catering to the e-sport and competitive scene too heavily when the game is the perfect sandbox for innovative casual gameplay. I have felt that e-sports was going to be a flop and resented the resources it took away from the rest of the game.

Head2Head. Bring it back. Get rid of the third party simulator (quick trash). If someone wants to play some crack head mode, they have TDM, PS, and PB. H2H gave a fair and balanced experience of cashout without having to lock tf in every single second. It was also great for new players. My friend and I haven’t touched the game since it’s been gone. Guess we ain’t coming back.

H+ nerf does nothing against healing while stealing, but you address this issue in patch notes.
No fcar nerf, but 95% use it because there's no point to use other guns (fastest ttk, fastest reload, easy to control recoil, small hip fire).
It's pretty sad, that embark promote silly spray and pray playstyle by giving more ammo, while shotguns are slowly rotting in the side.

I escaped in the finals from other games, because it had the best shotguns, but I guess embark have other opinion about this and shotguns should be always an outsider.

Completely agree, I come to the finals mostly to experience unique and refreshing gameplay exclusive to this game. I played goo gun for that reason. Every game I played I have to contend with the endless amount of heavies running winch claw because of its straightforward utility and incredible value.

But I love being able to put genuine thought and effort into getting kills with the goo gun, as it takes far more than one click to get value from it, and when it actually works it feels amazing.

Just hopped on and played goo gun and it is just unusable now. I tried to work around it but without being able to stall for that 0.8 seconds and reposition you are completely left out in the open. By the time you put away the goo gun and take out a weapon the enemy already has the time to empty half of their mag into you.

I genuinely want to know why it was necessary to nerf it to this degree. Was it really that oppressive in the meta, because I hardly see goo gun over winch in any given game. I do not think removing the versatility of the most versatile specialization in the game is the right move.

Like Funky said, an ammo nerf would be perfect, as it forces the player to rely on aim to get value out of it instead completely tanking one of its main uses.

Dev Note: The H+ Infuser still performs a little too well compared to the Medium’s Healing Beam and can be too powerful in securing Cashout steals while under fire. This change has been made to level things out

Having tried the new light and heavy in the respec for a bit, I can confidently say they both feel worse.

Light: Feels like a weak medium, can't run away in time when caught off guard or trying to retreat, not fast enough to chase people down efficiently. The extra health is not that noticeable but the decrease speed is VERY noticeable.

Heavy: Not a tank. The increase in speed is nice I guess but when playing heavy I'm not trying to run around all the time/push a lot, I'm trying to play center while my teammates can orbit around me. The decrease in health makes it harder to tank effectively, esp considering how long it take to start health regen without healing items.

Ultimately the classes each have their roles. Light is a glass cannon that runs in and out of the fight dealing dps, getting cleanups, flanking. Heavy is a tank that can draw enemy fire, set up cover, hold ground for the team to play around. Medium plays an in between role capable of doing both heavy and light tasks, clearly not as well as lights or heavies but able to alternate as a team needs.

The respec health and movement changes actively make lights and heavies worse at their respective roles in a team comp. To be very clear, if they move forward with the respec changes despite the clear negative reaction I'm seeing from players across the board I believe that would be community betrayal and would cost the game a large sum of players.

Not even gonna talk about the other 10.3 changes here, pls playtest your patches, I hope to god that the slide, melee, and shockwave issues are bugs and not intended. The reshaper and googun don't deserve this. https://discord.com/channels/1008696016318513243/1494427437440700526

It baffles me that the Goo Gun, the most creative/versatile Heavy spec that's also always been the least picked, gets a semi-direct nerf that essentially kills its combat capabilities before the Winch does.

Yes, the Goo Gun could be oppressive when spammed. But using the Goo Gun as a combat tool only synergized well with FT/Sledge/Spear, and was only realistically efficient at a range comparable to the Winch, assuming you didn't spam and could hit the feet/chests of your targets reliably.

Others might disagree, but IMHO, using the Goo Gun to its full potential, especially in combat scenarios, requires a lot more skill than using the Winch.

The Winch has been an uncontested and unhealthy meta pick for several seasons already. Its ability to stun make it a ridiculously cheesy/borderline broken when paired to meta Heavy weapons like SA1216. Those with enough playtime know that most Heavies suck ass if and when they fail to hit with their precious crutch spec...

The right way to fix both specs would be to reduce the ammo capacity and/or add a cooldown to the Goo Gun, forcing players to make more conservative use of their ammo, while Winch Claw has its stun effect removed entirely.

Replace the goo nerf with a 'decaying' system:
instead of always being 0.2 seconds, let the first goo that sticks to a player stay at 0.8 seconds, then subsequent goos within a short period of time will have their duration decay; 0.8s, then 0.6s, 0.4s, and then 0.2s repeatedly until that player has not been gooed for some time.
This would maintain Goo Gun's ability to stifle approaches or escapes or interrupt interactions, without allowing it to stun-lock players for an extended period of time

The problem with goo gun was not its ability to lock players in place, but its ability to do that repeatedly for extended periods of time with little counterplay. Limiting their ability to do this only once or twice would largely solve the problematic design while still maintaining the various skillful combos and use cases for goo lock.

I'm not sure what is in store for the melee rework next season, but this patch completely destroyed its current form. From the health and speed changes, to quick melee not canceling, to sliding being messed up. Hopefully the movement changes are unintentional but the rest still completely overlooks melee as a combat system.

Although I haven't truly taken the time to feel out all the changes I will say I appreciate your efforts to try and make the game better. Just make sure you're careful playing with lights speed as people are going to percieve that as a shortening of the skill gap. I believe many of the weapons don't feel good in their current states, and should have more impact on the field. Just keep working on it until you find that sweet spot. Thanks Embark

Quick melee nerf is awesome, but I would take it a step further: when you are using a melee weapon, "quick melee" should just trigger that weapon's normal attack, similar to how it works in Marvel Rivals.

Right now, having both a melee attack and a separate quick melee creates a burst combo that feels unintuitive. New players especially will not understand why they suddenly took so much damage compared to a standard melee hit.

Pressing an extra button does not really add meaningful skill expression, it just adds confusion.

Speaking from 3 games of anecdotal evidence trying out the Respec order changes so far, 2 as Heavy, 1 as Medium:

Generally, it felt like my team could arrive at the same fight and be in the same proximity without any class breaking off too far to be completely unable to respond to threats. Even in a game on Kyoto, of all maps, with 2 Light teammates, I, as a Heavy, was able to be within at least 30m or so of them during each fight.

It was also nice to see Light teammates be able to participate in direct combat without immediately dying after being looked at. I was able to take time as a healing Medium to buff a Light teammate taking direct fire without them getting beamed.

Any occasions where our team lost direct engagements usually felt like there were the result of bad initial positioning or other mistakes rather than the team feeling like they couldn't catch up to each other. Two instances included moments of me either Charge 'n Slamming off high ground away from my teammates or into two enemy players without checking where they were.

I'll need a few more games of testing these changes out to see how the perspectives are from playing Light, but from what I've seen, it is easier and nicer to fight together.

The HP increase on light is a good change. It’s not super noticeable, but in certain situations it really helps survivability, so it’s definitely a step in the right direction and feels fair overall.

However, the 10% movement nerf on light is not needed at all. The class needs survivability, not to be slowed down. You’re giving light more HP, then taking that away by making it easier to catch and kill. That just cancels the benefit. Light speed should be reverted to how it was.

For heavy, both changes feel good. The movement speed increase is nice, and the HP reduction is fair. Heavies already have a lot of HP and access to strong sustain, so there’s no need to bring 350 HP back.

About the goo changes, calling it a “niche playstyle” ignores how it feels on the receiving end. Getting gooed and locked down while being burned or smashed isn’t fun, it just removes control from the player. It’s the same frustration people complained about with stun gun, but now those same players want their version back.

And then there’s winch, which is still doing the same thing. It pulls you in, cancels what you’re doing, and puts you in a losing fight with almost no counterplay.

Also seeing people @dry lava say light HP shouldn’t be increased because they can’t kill lights with spear combos is wild. Spear already has huge range with right click and doesn’t need precise aim, plus winch and RPG exist. If someone still can’t finish a light with all that, that’s a skill issue.
Meanwhile dagger gets nerfed and can’t reliably secure backstabs, especially vs heavies holding right click.

If these abilities stay, especially winch, then stun gun should come back too. Otherwise it’s one-sided. You can’t remove something for being annoying and keep mechanics that do the same thing.

Right now it just feels inconsistent, and the double standard is obvious, and balance should favor fair gameplay, not frustration.

The recent bug fix to fix the double shockwave bug has inadvertently removed nearly all tech related to jump-pads, such as the ability to launch yourself horizontally and vertically, some clarification if this was intended to remove said tech would be appreciated, and if the changes aren’t intentional, a fix would be greatly appreciated

100%, nearly every other match there is a dodgy player with 10 wins who knows everything about the game and has perfect aim. They're either cracked players smurfing, which should be bannable because it's anti-fun and destroys the already very loose matchmaking even further, or they're banned cheaters coming back for more.

I understand it's difficult on a free game to eliminate this problem completely but more needs to be done about this

Used to be the sword Light before the sword nerf. After this, turned into the goo/sledge Heavy for a year or so. Deleted the game two days ago (spear secondary tracking really need some lookout, check the bug report section for more info) and, after reading a recent patch notes decided that I'm not coming back soon.
And for a statistic (from a gold rank perspective), for a year of playing I met 5-6 other goo/sledge players (with 3 goo/spear tryharders). Now, it seems like the playstyle would completely extinct.

demat from 10s to 20s was already brutal. shockwave was at least a good alternative. now shockwave/pad tech doesn't work anymore, data reshaper barrels are now random, quick melee is either broken or nerfed. none of which is in the patch notes.

either this is the most spaghetti code I have seen in a long time or you're up to something and don't want the community to get upset because you're carving all the fun out of the game.

Dear Embark, the real problem with the H+ Infuser is that it heals so much in such a short amount of time that it makes the person being infused effectively invulnerable.
Why is that? 800 RPM. I have no clue why you keep making all these insignificant tweaks instead of addressing its biggest problem point: HP per second. I’d suggest gutting its rate of fire down to 600 (you can start with 720 if you think that’s too drastic), then it’ll truly be put in its place.

I’m so tired with this game it’s like fighting 3 things and the creators of the game at the same time. 1. Cheaters/Smurfs run rampantly as ever. 2. Server issues never resolve 3. Matchmaking is still dogshit .

And add the fact that creators have themselves forgotten what made this game special. S1-S2 was the best time of this game. Everything after that has been a clusterfuck to say the least.

Their whole balance approach is so much based on Spreadsheet and Comp(Esports) that makes no sense given the games player base already hanging on to life support. Casuals have nothing to go for in this game. Other games have comp grow naturally but not at the cost of casual player base because they know that’s what keeps the game alive. And look at this.

Funny how they understood that with Arc Raiders but fail to implement it here despite the success. I wouldn’t be surprised if half the OG crew left the game.

All this game is just Store updates with cool animations and skins. That’s it.

The new balance updates as usual favour heavies and Lights and anything good medium is just unacceptable for the Dev team for some reason. Medium has heal specialisation nah let’s give them to all classes as gadgets. Medium gets movement with shockwave nah, not allowed with the Sole exception of Evasive dash on lights of course.

The new respec order is a joke - yeah let’s give 25 more health to dash spamming melee light users , they surely won’t draw the new player base away. Two years later to this game and now their thinking of this lmao 😂😭 can’t make this shit up. Give heavy more movement because that’s just what they need. Medium and fun nah not allowed play support+ victim always. Nobody asked for this shit. There’s a reason this game has a low player base it ain’t underrated.

Seeing people say “melee is completely ruined” after this patch is wild. Where was this energy when light melee, especially dagger, kept getting nerfed again and again? No one said anything then, but now goo gets changed and suddenly melee matters.

That double standard is obvious. Heavy and medium melee gets touched and it’s a crisis, but light melee has been getting worse for a long time and nobody cared.

I’ve also seen medium players complain about melee while relying on Shockwave, which exists to shut down close range fights. You can’t run something that counters melee and then complain melee feels bad.

Light has been hit the hardest. Dashes nerfed, movement nerfed, dagger and sword heavily affected. At this point dagger is basically dead. There’s no reason to use it anymore. The backstab angle especially needs to be reverted back to 180° from 150° so it actually connects consistently.

Movement nerf on top of dash nerfs just kills the class identity. Light is supposed to rely on speed and precision, not be slowed down this much.

If anything, melee should be made consistent across all classes, not selectively nerfed. Heavy could use a slight movement buff, but light should keep its HP and original speed.

Movement matters, and saying a 10% nerf does nothing just shows lack of understanding. @scarlet pilot @hollow kelp if a light escapes or fights using dashes, that’s the point. Track better, use your tools, and adapt instead of expecting free kills.

The game should reward skill and counterplay, not favor one class. Right now, most feedback just sounds like people wanting their own class stronger instead of the game being balanced.

Everything about this patch is despicable, I spent the last few week trying to find a cool and fun build with Shockwave, even made a character out of it. With the cool new cosmetics, I made Geralt in game, playing dual blades, mines, aps and data reshaper.

Now honestly the build is just ruined, shockwave just feels too sluggish to play now. And dual blades are basically dead. Not to mention the fact that aps can't be picked up again and the CD is the same 🙂
Just ruined my build COMPLETELY. I honestly don't want, for the 3rd season in a row, to run meta boring sheet (heal beam, with fcar jumpad and defib) in ranked to be able to reach diamond.
I wanted to grind diamond with my off meta pick, for fun. But apparently Embark hates fun.

This patch is just utter dogwater, I love your game, but this kills it for me, anything fun being removed is so sad to see. At this point, just go back to dice and work on battlefield, if ur gonna remove player expression completely, and only make the most average fps game again.

Edit: Also, I always hated goo, felt too strong and never played that stuff, thinking it was unfair and too strong. Big time hater of the goo gun here aswell, but Embark WTF.... 0.2s? Round it down to 0s, or better yet just remove goo, it's the same result.

I like the change to HP and movement speed for heavy and light, bringing them closer together. After spawning its always its always a 1v3 / 1v1 on box or wait as light for the team. The wait kills the ground gained through speed. (Yeah yeah poke and such) I like that the heavy can keep up. More team engagement on tap 1. Feels good individually and for the team

I think that some of you out there is confusing skill issue with real actual problems of the game. The patch is bad, but stop complaining about every random thing.
The biggest problems of the game are always the same:

  • smurfing/cheating
  • griefing
  • server status
  • matchmaking
    About the new patch:
  • the problems are not on the movement of the characters
  • lowering hp on heavy for some speed could be ok, but what is the identity of that role? Is he a tank or not?
  • Light with this speed could be ok but i think that some weapons should do less damage or is too easy to kill

I was high platinum dagger main I could easily carry any game winning around 50% of 1v3 on average 13 kills per round and 1 death but now I cant do anything even in low gold 0 kills 10 deaths

I wanted to record 1 ranked dagger montage per season but I cant win anything
I recorded S8 and S9 (S9 is not uploaded cuz no thumbnail)
if I try to record for S10 no clips even on lower ranks

dagger is now just a meme weapon that is used for trolling
I became heavy main and when I see a dagger I just think oh a free kill (dagger used to counter heavy now its useless)

I know that there will be a melee rework but even if backstab returns to 180 degrees then it still be worse than when it got nerfed to 75 degrees cuz everything else in loadout got nerfed a lot of times

Idea for rework
1. lazy:
- just revert most of the nerfs

2. full rework
- dash gets 2 charges and 5.5s recharge (this change will also make fighting lights less annoying cuz they will not spam dashes as much)
- backstab will restore 1 dash (to allow chain stabs)
- 160 backstab angle
- make verticlal backstab angle 180 degrees
- fix backstabs registering as normal hits
- fix range (sometimes you cant thit enemy from 1m and sometimes you can snipe some one from 10m)

also remove winch cuz its not fun to use and its not fun to play against so its lose lose + revert sword to season 3 cuz current sword is annoying to play against and use so its lose lose, season 3 sword was fun to use and fun to play against```

Just got a fun idea for a buff to Data Reshaper.

Usually I'd ask for it's third charge back or a faster recharge rate, but I got a fun idea that makes use of the barrel rotation.

What if right clicking on a barrel reverses the barrel rotation?

Like a smoke canister then turns into a red barrel by right clicking it, instead of it turning into an orange barrel as it usually does with a left click

I don't know how often people bring this up, sorry if this is a frequent topic. also sorry for the wall of text, originally i sent this via EggMail, and was told to share it here instead.

we started playing the game as a 3 stack recently, and we quite quickly came to the conclusion that the format of ranked cashout is completely broken.

the first 4 cashouts are meaningless. in fact we found a surprisingly "efficient" way to do the first 2 "phases" (so first 4 vaults) is to hunt down and 3rd party the 2nd team on the scoreboard over and over again, then grab one of the 22k cashouts. even if you get wiped while doing this, you will end up with more money as the previously 2nd team, meaning they get eliminated and your team qualifies.

this is only one example, there are other similar examples where the cashout mechanic can be used to essentially grief the 2nd team. this left us pretty surprised, since this the complete opposite of what one would consider intuitive game design. normally one would think it makes sense to fight for the objective at every phase of the game, but currently this is not the case.

it's a damn shame because otherwise it's a very fun game, but ranked at it's current state is just not fun to play, at all.

it would be nice if this got reworked in some way, perhaps make it so that the cashout pay out mechanic happens over time and not at once when the timer runs out, or something like this but more sophisticated.

either way, the game is dope i just wish ranked was better.

ive got a rather quality of life game feedback for the practise range that could be a pretty cute helpful addon for it.
To test out weapon sights or skins or any attachment of an equip you need to leave and join. why not just making it possible to change every loudout in the practise range. shouldnt be too hard to execute.
Im thinking that way cause games like Battlefield 6 and older even make it possible to change loudout and everything MID match.

You're right. Me and my friends have also found that earlier cashouts are essentially meaningless. You can qualify just by grabbing a later cashout even if other teams also only got 1 cashout. At that point kills won't even earn a team enough cash to overtake your team because the later cashouts are just worth so much. It's not just the cashout amounts that need changing, it's the whole bracket system too. 4 team modes are so unfair as you get no compensation for holding a cashout most of its timer and almost nothing for getting kills.

The bug that keeps unequiping all weapon skins, character gestures, emotes, etc is very annoying, and its been this way for a while. On that note, why is there no option to EQUIP A SET OF EMOTE/GESTURES AND ETC, TO ALL CHARACTERS AT ONCE? (Like how you can apply a weapon skin to multiple loadouts, yadayada). Instead of having to do it all individually set everything up for every single loadout, over and over again. If they want to shove skins in your face for you to buy, the least they can do is not reset and unequip from your gear every week

  • 10.3.0 shadow changes / issues NOT documented in patch notes - PLEASE TEST BEFORE RELEASING
    EDIT. Prior to 10.3.1 some things have been fixed. Thank you Embark.

1) Quick Melee can no longer cancel melee attacks.
2) Slide cannot be performed while using Mesh Shield or during melee attacks.
3) Shockwave previously benefited from verticality; now it feels pointless. Pad–Shockwave tech has been removed.
4) Goo Gun lock duration reduced from 0.8 → 0.2, which is excessive. A value around 0.4–0.5 would be more balanced. While preventing steal interruptions is understandable, it should still reliably restrict movement. 0.2 currently puts the user at a disadvantage.
5) Reshaper now produces random outcomes. It already needed QoL improvements; this change makes it worse.
6) APS is difficult to pick up consistently.
7) Servers are worse - significant lag introduced after this update.

With the removal of Arena Debut, this was expected to return. There was no clarification on why you removed this mode ever.

  • Friend List

Completely bugged. Shows friends as online, playing, or queueing when they are not. Issue introduced this season.

  • Chat Censoring

Bugged since release. Some insults pass through while common words are censored inconsistently. This is frustrating.
PLEASE ADD A TOGGLE TO DISABLE THIS FEATURE.

This update changed several things unannounced and there has been no statement from embark clarifying what is intentional/here to stay and what isn’t intentional/a bug. These issues are huge and need a fix or at least an acknowledgment very soon.

Goo gun: the change listed in the patch notes has led to unintended consequences, as similar to S7 goo gun can now defend teammates from damage while they are stealing, while removing the ability to stall enemies who are stealing. Killing multiple goo play styles aside, this change isn’t healthy for the game as the defender should have the upper hand.

Shockwave: the momentum you gain from shockwave has been nerfed, and again this was not in the patch notes, many players are disappointed with this change as the specialisation breathed new life into the game that is being taken away without any announcement from embark

Aps turret: you are unable to pick up aps turret feasibly, it is facing some kind of bug that makes it so only one very specific position allows you to pick it up. Aps’ physics also become completely bugged if you dematerialise it through the floor, again these are drastic bugs that need to be addressed and acknowledged

Melee: melee weapons rely on quick melee cancels in order to be viable, without these cancels they are literally terrible weapons, even with the cancels melee weapons do not compete with range weapons in almost all scenarios. Dagger, dual blades and spear have been hurt by this the most, these weapons have been nerfed extremely hard because of this change and yet again it was not in the patch notes. Fix it or acknowledge it

Hover pad: you can no longer move the hover pad by quick meleeing turrets or aps that are attached to it, removing a fun and creative tech from the game that was a highlight of the launch of S10. Yet again this change was not listed in the patch notes. You need to fix these bugs or acknowledge them as full fledge changes that are here to stay.

Survivability change on light

175hp doesnt really add too much to the light, speed change isnt noticable within gameplay too heavily though i think light movement speed nerf was unwarranted, the brought up issue of “getting to cashbox too early and dying first” is the light players problem not the classes problem.

    I would actually change lights back to 150hp, give them maybe slightly better regen and give them mobility buffs as they are too weak currently (dash too easy to predict, read and track), grapple cooldown will get you killed instantly. These changes dont put lights out of combat for too many seconds when they wait for regen and give them even better survivability because of better util.

I feel like this change was unwarranted as heavies will die fast regardless, i never struggled to fight heavies with 350hp as they have fairly slow movement speed and large and easy to hit hitboxes with bad mobility, 325hp didnt feel crazy impactful other than just dying a bit faster than usual. Movement speed increase by 10% was a bit too much, it felt like a beefier medium, id reduce it down to maybe 4%.

Give heavy 350hp, reduce movement speed buff to 4%, nerf healbeam and infuser as thats usually what makes it harder to kill a heavy not the hp. 350hp heavy is only hard to kill if the timing of the player is bad or they position wrong or play into heavies positional advantage.

**List of bad things from this patch **

  • All melee animations seem uncancellable this patch, you cannot interrupt them with Quick Melee and you are also forced to wait out the recovery at the end of each animation which makes M1 and M2 chains slower. Especially affects weapons like Spear which rely on animation cancels for their spin to be viable. This also has been theorized to not just pertain to melee animations, but ALL animations, as some say that they feel mantle animations take way longer, which would line up with the issue of recovery in the animation being uncancellable (some also claim this is due to Latency, with high ping making animations feel slower)
  • GooGun is unable to prevent cashout steals now, meaning that despite losing its best defensive capability, it has now regained (for the 3rd time) its most obnoxious offensive ability, which is Gooing up your teammate while they steal, making them untouchable whilst you have ammo
  • Even though it's a temporary event, the HP changes and speed changes have only served to make light overtuned. Light's guns are designed with their squishiness in mind, there's no reason to make the glass cannon glass be less 'glass' if you aren't also going to proportionally make it less 'cannon', but at that point you may as well just make everyone play medium and have access to every gun/gadget/spec
  • Data Reshaper barrel reshape order has become randomized for seemingly no known reason
  • APS Turet is unable to be picked up, and also seems to phase through all surfaces if you Demat the floor below it
  • Trophies on Playstation (and possibly Xbox) seem bugged, zero progress being tracked on both existing and fresh accounts
  • Removed (unintentionally or not) the ability to use Shockwave Orb to push yourself onto a Jump Pad and gain increased momentum and height. Some say it is still possible but the output is lesser, and also wildly inconsistent
  • Numerous people experience extreme Lag/Latency/Game Crashes due to AntiCheat

Reasonable way to keep goo stun in the game

Goo can only stun an enemy player when shot at the feet, essentially "sticking" them to the ground. Shooting them in the face results in the 0.2 second/instant break, while hitting the feet remains unchanged.

This way the person being hit by the goo can still shoot the heavy and there is a higher skill to stalling a player. Continual stuns make it easy for the effected player to actually fight back in this scenario.

Medium this season has been put in sweet position with the new specialization and crossbow, until they did the hp changes. I feel like having more hp on light feels to op because I just win 1vs1 against mediums so ez now, but the movement is kinda buggy/annoying idk. The hp for heavy change doesn't seems to effect me tho, since you already have alot of hp and high defense with domeshield, barricade etc.

In my opinion they should reverse the hp and movement speed buffs because light rn feels to op against mediums and lights are able to deal with heavies better than the before.
However I think giving the heavy more base movement speed keeps them better up with the team8s and makes live better when going from a to b, when having to run like 150m
I think I have a great addition to fix the movement speed problem for the heavies when they are gonna put back the movement speed back as it was, and ill explain it right here.

You have the base movement speed of each class for example
light = 275
medium = 250
heavy = 225

light and medium on all terms have their base movement speed when going in a straight line, going left or right and doing 180 turn.
Heavy should have the 225 movement speed on all times, but when walking in a straight line (by just going straight and moving kinda left or right) They should be able to build up momentum.
So for example when having to run 150-200m for a vault and running in a straightish line for 2-3sec they build up momentum and get like 250 movement speed aswell, so you can keep up with the mediums.
This was kinda my idea with the heavy falling behind and not being able to join the fights faster, so they can revert this hp and movement speed adjustment.

The nerfs they should do aswell for guns are the following:
Light class:
m11, when you are somewhat close to somebody u shred them so hard and there is almost no counter play, either reduce the fire rate or damage to 15 in my opinion
arn-220, give somewhat a harder recoil pattern than it is now and either reduce the fire rate by a bit or giving the quick reload like a 0,1-0,2 sec extra reload time, right now having 60 bullets for the light class is diabolical op in my opinion.
katana, nerf its left click its stupidly op.

Mediums:
crossbow, gun is super strong should get a nerf don't know what.

Heavy:
shak-50, its downright impossible to compete against it close range and most of the times you have close range fights, and once u get winched as light or medium you are pretty much dead with no counters play.

It makes playing light useless and the afterburn from the flamethrower is just as long as getting hit by a Pyro grenade/Pyro canister If heavy mains hate lights so much they shouldn't have to go with flamethrower as an option every time.

I've quit this game for 2 seasons straight and so badly want to get back into the game but flamethrowers are still so stupidly brainless and overpowered that I cant find a reason to enjoy the game

How to correctly balance the 93R

The recent 93R changes did nothing but make it an overpowered light deleter while having basically no effect on the classes it struggles against, which are medium and heavy. Hence, Embark needs to look at other ways to balance it rather than altering the damage.
This can be done by making the burst delay shorter, which will make it more viable against ALL classes while not making it overpowered versus lights.

Proposed 93R changes:
Damage: 24** (revert from 25 back to 24)**
Burst delay: 0,275s > 0,23s

This change will result in the following TTKs (Time-to-kill):

Body:
light: 0,54s -> ** 0,72s** (7 shots) (does NOT 2 burst lights with body shots only)
medium: 1.22s -> 1,14s (11 shots)
heavy: 1.68s -> 1,56s (15 shots)

Head:
light: 0.40s -> 0,42s (5 shots)
medium: 0.81s -> 0,72s (7 shots)
heavy: 1.22s -> 1,08s (10 shots)

Damage drop-off minimum range: 30m ->** 27m**
Damage drop-off maximum range: 37.5m ->** 34.5m**
Damage Dropoff Modifier @ Max Range: 50%** (it stays the same)**

These changes will make the weapon solid while not making it overpowered; for comparison, the ARN, a weapon with effectively a 60 round magazine, compared to the 93R's 21, more range, and fully automatic has TTKs that are on average 10% faster than the 93R (except light). This makes it effectively a completely superior option while being easier to use and way more forgiving. Missing a burst on the 93R means you are extremely penalised in your killing potential. This isn't the case for the ARN.

With these changes, the 93R will not 2 burst lights with body shots only, which is the product of an oversimplified buff to damage.
This proposal will also make the 93R less capable to poke at long range due to lower minimum and maximum drop-off ranges, leaving that task to options such as the ARN and the LH1 (preserves the weapon niche).

If you make the goo break almost instantly it completely kills fun melee on heavy. If you want to fix permanent goo locking, change the goo gun. Maybe nerf the amo or reload time so that goo melee is still possible. With limited amo and a longer reload the goo gun would be a lot more fair I’d think (coming from a goo gun user myself.) goo locking does in fact have counter play, but if you aren’t currently running any of those counters, I can see how it’d be frustrating. Give both parties a chance rather than just completely gutting the goo guns offensive capabilities. Please consider this for 10.6

I solo Q and find it very interesting that when I play Cashout the matchmaking is absolutely fantastic. There are more or less always two team that get all of the money and two team that are stomped. Both in the first and in the second round. But you never find yourself entirely on one or the other side game after game. You lose some and you win some. I also always get teammates that clearly have some game sense and actually know the rules of the game.

Then I play Ranked Cashout and oh my God the matchmaking is flawed. You can get stomped on by the entire lobby game after game and your teammates doesn’t even seem to understand the basic rules of the game.

Clearly this is problem in the mechanics of the matchmaking itself and not a skill issue or too low player count.

I have a plan for ranked cashout. In round 1 (cashout) 4 teams battle and top 2 go into their own bracket for 3v3 and bottom 2 go 3v3 aswell. The team that wins the 3v3 in higher bracket places first. For the lower bracket the team that loses places forth and the team that wins faces the team that lost in higher bracket. This 3rd round determines 2nd and 3rd place respectively. This is a good idea for multiple reasons. 1) only needing 4 teams will drastically cut que times for a already low player count game. Giving teams that got griefed out a second chance to reduce frustrating rs losses. And also having mostly finals rounds would obviously rely more on skill than 3rd party . Dang ts took long to typ. Hopefully yall see this cause I feel that a change like this would solve many issues of ranked

I've played the finals since the last week of the open beta. Fell. In. Love. With everything. Do you guys remember Recon Sense? It when the devs weren't scared to let us be crazy. Wall hacks didn't matter cuz we had something to compete. It took SKILL. SNUKES maybe not. But I do miss them. And maybe I sound biased. But as a light main during the OB and season 1. I gotta say. I miss them.

I hate the new dynamics. And the devs reasoning for some of the nerfs just blows my mind. "We needed Sledge because players found it too difficult to counter in close quarters." Yeah, it's a Sledge hammer in the hands of the biggest hit ox, slowest moving character in the game. It is SUPPOSED to be scary. I'm sorry but taking away the damage that it gave because sword lights feel like it's too powerful is a LACK OF DEVELOPER IMAGINATION. . Would love to see the other classes evolve new ways of taking me down and force me to evolve my playset to compensate. But instead, the game has become a cat and mouse game of chasing the next best thing after each nerf.

Changing the health gap between lights and heavies is my Final straw. Hate me for it. I don't care. But I feel the classes are losing their identity and It breaks my heart. I get it devs. It promotes people to stick as a team and whatever. I think it's absurd. How did we play the game for 2 years before you decide that the health didn't match. I've seen COUNTLESS lights solo entire teams with 150 health. Now it'll be even easier. Everyone. You've seen it here first, lights and mediums are the classes they WANT you to use. Hi embark, Im really greatful for you making this hotfix fixing several issues. However Id like to ask you to not change back the goostun to 0.2s. Its just too low to do anything, you dont even have enough time to drop a domeshield or something. I dont think a core mechanic of this spec since season one should be changed this drasticlly. Please consider a less severe changes like 0.4-6 or alternative solutions. For example have i heard of the idea, that continously gooing the same persone decreases its effect ( for example 0.8 to 0.4 to 0.2 to 0.1). Or the option of a wipe button each team can use twice a round if only one teammate is alive to reset. The limitation of amounts it can be used is for limiting the potential to abuse this mechanic and is just an example value.

And I apologise if my persistance on reverting the patch was stressfull, it was well needed though

What is the point of the classes being so similar in movement? That was one aspect that made the Finals different. Might as well make everyone move the same. I really enjoy playing The Finals, and I appreciate the work your team puts into keeping the gameplay fresh and exciting.

I’d like to suggest bringing back a FAMAS-style weapon similar to what we saw in Seasons 5 and 6. That version had a great balance, satisfying burst-fire feel, and added a unique playstyle that a lot of players enjoyed. Reintroducing it—or even a redesigned version inspired by it—could bring more variety and nostalgia to the current weapon lineup.

Add a report option for not playing the objective. THE FINALS is an objective based game, and aside from TDM, everything has higher priorities than kills. So many ppl queue up into 'casual' modes and treat it like CounterStrike TDM matches or whatever (endless respawn)

Head 2 Head was my favorite game mode so seeing it gone is really dissapointing, It seems alot of other people feel the same. It's one thing to get rid of a mode but not having any explanation or setting on any expectation on when it will return just seems unreasonable.

Honestly Embark, fix your game. Performance has been horrible recently, bugs are still everywhere and both the last updates I have been kicked from the server for broken game files and had to validate and redownload the update.

If making a simple balance change brakes your game code, it means it was coded poorly from the beginning.

There are two possibly unintentional important changes which were added in 10.3 and removed in the hotfix, which were not listed in the patch notes.

  • sword became able to phantom strike again: left click could be triggered before the right click finished.

  • spear spin became cancellable after the first spin with a left click, which instantly switched it into a left click attack.

I hope that the developers are aware of these.

Fyi, lowering goo stun duriation to anything lower than .6 seconds is gonna' break a whole bunch of interactions. Melee parries will become jank, mine parries, and Flamethrower viability will disappear in competent lobbies...
Maybe actually consult someone who plays the game and pays attention to Goo Gun and it's issues/identity.

the "matchmaking" for cashout is horrible. i'm matched against teams full of ruby, while my "rank" is silver.
every game is 0-10 for my whole team, most of the time my mates just disconnect or troll.

For the health changes decreasing the heavies health makes no sense since they have no mobility and they rely on dome shields and barricades to make up for this but dome has been nerfed and mesh and dome both get countered by lights and their Glitch grenades so this ms + hp change to heavies just cancels each other out and makes them closer to a medium with no mobility than being a more distinct class.
For lights giving them 25 more hp is a massive buff for lights given that they get their combat mobility from tp, dash, and grapple and not from their faster movement speed. 25 more hp is a massive difference especially for melee weapons which rely on a combo in order to kill lights.
For example with spear the only viable way to a kill lights in high elo without an rpg is to melee, winch, melee in that exact order cause if you winch, melee, melee their dash or grapple will get them away from your second melee giving them a free kill. So the only way for a spear to kill a light with any frontal lobe is to either sneak up on them to get the first melee in then try and hit a winch on a dashing away light then melee or to get a melee on them then rpg which has a 45 second cooldown. But if they are given 25 more hp the winch will no longer do the extra 5 damage needed to kill the light requiring another melee for the kill confirm combo which is impossible cause lights will be able to dash or grapple away from it leaving only the rpg combo which works on only 1 light every 45 seconds assuming you dont miss the rpg on a light dashing away.
Moral of the story the heavy change is bad cause it makes them less unique and accomplishes nothing and the light change just makes lights op. But if you must do this change a good change would be to make winch do 30 damage instead of 5 that way melee heavy is playable against lights and not impossible. And yes winch already good but 25 more damage on an 7 second agility is much better than increasing melee damage. ran out of char lol

Hi Embark, I got only one question for you. Why do you hate sword so much? Everything you did new, every update you made in the last seasons, has been a hard nerf on sword and melee weapons on general. A good part of the community complains about sword and melee weapons in general. they say its easy, that its bad but at the same time that its too strong. I dont understand why you, as game devs, you keep buffing and nurturing OP, low skill, low risk and high reward weapons like DB, sniper, cl-40, spear, flamethrower. A big part of the weapon roster can one-shot a light. I understand the need to close the dmg gap between classes, but why nerf dash so much and add a nerf to light speed? it doesnt close dmg gap, it only makes weapons like sword completly unusable. I hope that in the next melee update youll keep this in mind and wont nerf sword again. To sumerise what I truly want to say, I feel you keep rewarding low skill, low risk and high reward gameplay, but nerf high skill gameplay.

I have failed the developers as a veteran player by not saying something sooner. But for the most part. They've always gotten it right.

I MISS NUKES. Ok, I know, they weren't fair. But man they were SO fun. It's what drew me to the game. The fact that there are so many ways to win and it's not about having the best gun + best aim to win. It's about how well your team and pull a play from the box of chaos we all call. THE FINALS. .

I feel like the developers reward creativity less and less. People see a new gadget and find a cool use. (Using the shockwave for movement) And the devs see this, along with a few complaints and take it from us. They have shown time and time again that they favor easy balance over letting us be creative.

There is no point in playing heavy. Every class has heals. Every class has destruction. Every class has defensive abilities. They thing that made heavies shine is our ability hunker down and fight. Now we are just cannon fodder given rubber bullets for the illusion of self defense.

90% of the time I use the "DO NOT REVIVE" communication wheel option, teammates (randoms mostly) see it as a dare and do actually revive me. They unsurprisingly end up losing the point for being too far from the objective and coming back too late to defend it. I fail to understand how making the light walk slightly slower stops them from grappling away from their team or dashing away from their team and still getting to the cash out first. Also I fail to understand how giving the most historically selfish class in the game 25 more health is supposedly going to make them push alone less? How exactly does giving them more health make them want to be less selfish

Rebalancing the game around new players who cannot realize that all riding the same Zipline and jumping the same pad will let you all get to the objective at the same time isn't something that people who have played the game for 3 years should have to worry about. How exactly is it my problem that people who have 2 weeks in the game haven't learned to play together and also how does this update even stop lights from separating from the team as I already explained before?

Lastly they've stated they would rebalance all guns, gadgets, etc... it's just a wild idea to rebalance the entire game almost 3 years into its lifecycle because people cannot figure out how to use movement abilities together and even if a balance change was done there's no saying we don't end up in the same spot again

THE FINALS needs to bring back creative skill expression without nerfing everything seen as an exploit, sledge multi-hit was a little OP, but it was SO MUCH FUN. I feel as though the game through its multiple million nerfs has turned this game into a "omg i just got oneshot by an RPG" to "yeah im 5 nothing and i can tank an RPG." sometimes you get hit by things that feel unfair, but if youre playing light... you just gotta deal with it. the audio that plays sometimes is the same as the revive audio so perhaps they hear that, coupled with the tendency to spam revive over the years they just assume you want a revive. I'm gonna say most of the time people spam that, the audio is usually the same as the revive audio so if you don't read it it seems like someone is asking for a revive. If you only do it like once or twice it seems to work like it's intended more so than not.

Hi embark, i really want to thank you to adress many of the issues in last Hotfix. I also want to apologise, in case i and several others made a bit too much pressure and Stress, because of frustration. However i want to talk about googun. In my personsl experience i dont see googun as too oppressive. However some seem frustrated with the goolock. I ask you though, please do not just decrease the number to 0.2 for a simplictic fix, basiclly completely removing a usecase of this spec. For example have i seen ideas put forward, like a decrease of the stun power with every addional hit in a timeframe starting after like the third hit(0.8 to 0.8 to 0.8 to 0.6 to 0.4 to 0.1 for example). I think this would decrease frustration too, while maintaining the specs usecase to a degree and making it a higher skillcheck. Or decrease the googuns ammo count or increase the reload, please do something, that doesnt fundamentally destroys this spec

Nerf winch range I'm tired of getting winched into a full team across the room or when the opponent is clearly losing the 1v1 and uses winch to get free damage like a panic button same as charge and slam it's just too much range and the stun is still long and to nerf goo also nerfing the goo gun "temporarily" for what reason?? How to correctly balance the 93R

The recent 93R changes did nothing but make it an overpowered light deleter while having basically no effect on the classes it struggles against, which are medium and heavy. Hence, Embark needs to look at other ways to balance it rather than altering the damage.
This can be done by making the burst delay shorter, which will make it more viable against ALL classes while not making it overpowered versus lights.

Proposed 93R changes:
Damage: 24** (revert from 25 back to 24)**
Burst delay: 0,275s > 0,23s

This change will result in the following TTKs (Time-to-kill):

Body:
light: 0,54s -> ** 0,72s** (7 shots) (does NOT 2 burst lights with body shots only)
medium: 1.22s -> 1,14s (11 shots)
heavy: 1.68s -> 1,56s (15 shots)

Head:
light: 0.40s -> 0,42s (5 shots)
medium: 0.81s -> 0,72s (7 shots)
heavy: 1.22s -> 1,08s (10 shots)

Damage drop-off minimum range: 30m ->** 27m**
Damage drop-off maximum range: 37.5m ->** 34.5m**
Damage Dropoff Modifier @ Max Range: 50%** (it stays the same)**

These changes will make the weapon solid while not making it overpowered; for comparison, the ARN, a weapon with effectively a 60 round magazine, compared to the 93R's 21, more range, and fully automatic has TTKs that are on average 10% faster than the 93R (except light). This proposal will also make the 93R less capable to poke at long range due to lower minimum and maximum drop-off ranges, leaving that task to options such as the ARN and the LH1 (preserves the weapon niche).

Improve the club board and make it so there's pinned messages so people can see stuff like a Discord link or other important things.

Make club contracts more meaningful, like a weekly club contract that can only be progressed when playing with other club members and it gives better rewards, or make it weekly/monthly but make it so everyone can contribute to it and the rewards are given until the end of the week/month to those that contributed

And add an option that allows anyone in your club to join you next to Open To Friends button in party, sometimes you want specific people to join such as people in your club but not some other friends.

Fix casual matchmaking, fix QC matchmaking. Why do I get 10 games in a row against all pre made 3 stacks? While my team is solo queue or sometimes duo lights.

I rotated through a lot of 3 stacks the last hour or so. Which shows, there’s a good amount of players partied, which means there’s more than enough for 3 stacks to only be playing 3 stacks in QC.

Oh, and in between losing every game, I then wait double/triple the noted queue time to be put into games in progress which are almost lost.

There’s a reason why new players don’t stay, 20% win rate and playing teams which are 100% grouped together is not optimal. COD tries to minimise solo queue running into parties. However in COD, if two people or even three people are partied, that’s 1/3, 1/2 of a team in a party, in The Finals that’s 66% or 100% of a team that’s partied and working together.

1 win in 22 games. Out of 12 games tonight, zero have been solo queue enemies.

Every game is pre made 3 stacks. Surely there is more than one person solo queuing quick cash

I also want to apologise, in case i and several others made a bit too much pressure and Stress, because of frustration. However i want to talk about googun. In my personsl experience i dont see googun as too oppressive. However some seem frustrated with the goolock. I ask you though, please do not just decrease the number to 0.2 for a simplictic fix, basiclly completely removing a usecase of this spec. For example have i seen ideas put forward, like a decrease of the stun power with every addional hit in a timeframe starting after like the third hit(0.8 to 0.8 to 0.8 to 0.6 to 0.4 to 0.1 for example). I think this would decrease frustration too, while maintaining the specs usecase to a degree and making it a higher skillcheck. Or decrease the googuns ammo count or increase the reload, please do something, that doesnt fundamentally destroys this spec

(I don't know enough about detection or the metrics you can get with your setup), but in terms of fair-play and balance of inputs this has to get checked at the door.

Controller mods that adjust how the controller handles data and how it's relayed to the game means these controllers receive an increased rate of aim assist per millisecond, per input.

this starts to be noticeable with polling rates but is no problem.
It becomes a huge problem with various mods like RC filters and board mods.

If you try to research what type of mods or upgrades you could get similarly on a mouse, you either come up empty handed or discover the only comparable is actual cheats or macros.

[Also make CL40 a gadget].

(PS : why is it that Mouse aim culture is built upon practice, technique, and hours played. But Controller aim culture is all about min-maxing aim assist with controller mods or settings values?)

Just a bit of feedback on the heal ball changes. The change to its placement is more of a nerf due to the fact you can no longer prioritise placing it on the surface of slanted roofs so it simply falls of the roof unlike before where it would place onto the roof directly and not fall down. @cursive urchin I agree with these points and I would like to add onto them. I dislike the dash specialization and crowd control like winch, goo, nullifier and lockbolt that is in the game. Mainly because of how universal it is in it's balance and implementation no matter what combination you create for your character. The current balance around dash and CC is justified with certain weapons in mind like melee, but for other weapons that don't have huge restrictions with how you deal damage, these items and specializations result in annoying games that take people out of the experience. Its not that these specializations and gadgets need to be restricted to only one set of weapons, that would not be fair for a game about limitless customization. Its that certain types of weapon that needs its specialization and gadgets to be tweaked and balanced around, otherwise we lose unique playstyles that make the game fun at the moment. Because we cant just do direct stat buffs to melee weapons to fix melee, (even though that is probably what's gonna happen for season 11,) when most of how you sustain yourself and get into the fight with items are eroded from different weapons and playstyles over the years. I want winch to not stun you while being dragged by a heavy who has ranged weapons, I want goo gun and grenade stuns to be reflected based off of if you are using a melee weapon for every class, I want that recent lockbolt update to not have a fast recharge for ranged heavies who use it constantly as an opener for fights. I want the dash's current nerf to it's recharge to not be present for melee weapons as to promote sustainability for sword and dagger lights, but nerf/rework that small survivability boost for some of the medium to long ranged weapons. overall I want gadgets and specializations balanced around the weapon type itself, not around what gun types shines through the most when paired up with items, then nerfing those items universally no matter the damage.

Shockwave countering barricades is unnecessary. Were barricades really that oppressive? I always use them, but I don't run into them nearly as often. Mediums can already counter them with data reshaper and, in most circumstances, demat could just go around them. Now we have to deal with them just falling over from a shockwave? This didn't even come with any sort of buff, like being able to place barricades on walls or something. With how common shockwave is to encounter, barricades feel like they took a pretty big hit to their functionality. It comes in the same season as their coolest skin ever too. (Side note, can we get more creative barricade skins?)

the AI suggestion you were admiring removes depth & skill expression from dash. it’s also literally the first thing it suggests.

if you go back and forth with AI on what to make of dash the best suggestion it gives is adding some kind of timing to either shotgun and dash or bloom and auto weapons for max damage. none of these things would stop a good player. the guy posting what you were admiring also pretends to be a dash main while asking for the class & heavy to be removed in favor of medium. i know they are not putting any effort into their prompting and are just copy and pasting the first thing. so i totally understand the guy frustration you’re replying too.

if you think shooting + dashing is something a low skill player does i’ve honestly almost never seen it except from really high tier players. i basically told ai that it wasn’t easy & they shot this back to me after going back & forth.

Love the changes for movement so far as a heavy main. I use KS23 only and with light being slower, it really feels like I can consistently win against them much more than before. Heavy also feels far faster and can keep up with teams now. I do think light might need a buff across all its specs as cloak is definitely far weaker because of it, and they are far more reliant on movement specs than ever. Maybe it's too early to call it but I think these changes are great and I'm shocked by how much I love them

I agree. Editting the health and speed of the builds is a bad idea. It would be altering the one fundamental constant around which 3 years of The Finals and a hundred specialisations, weapons and gadgets have been balanced around.

It causes more problems than it solves and doesn't actually address the issue of lights running off since grappling hook and dash still exist. We are three years into this game, tweaking the health and speed of the builds means youre going to have to tweak every specialisation, weapon and gadget in the game, and probably the layouts of certain maps too. It would be a fools errand to try to think you could rebalance every item in the game (even IF changing health and speed makes it slightly easier) in a satisfying and fair manner when you're still trying to figure out how to make xp-54 not suck but also not be absolutely overpowered.

I worry you (embark) don't have the manpower to implement this change well, and as I believe the change does not truly address the problem you are trying to address, I worry that in the end, it will not have the desired effect, and you'll have to think of something else to change.

*Bonus feedback: In my opinion, making the builds more similar is taking away the identity of this game. The Finals is unique among shooters because of a few select factors, and having balanced weapons isn't what makes it unique, it is having light medium and heavy. The differences between them is the appeal of this game. Lessening these differences would mean lessening my (and no doubt a significant portion of gamers) interest in The Finals over the hundreds of other first person shooters. Without a lesser appeal of a less unique experience, gamers may be less likely to get into this game when theres other games that do balanced weapons better. There is only one The Finals, embark. I hope you know what you're doing, and I hope you make the right decision. I, and many others love your game, and would hate to see it rot away.

Ranked system is worse than in beta stage. Now you get faced against triple premade ruby/Diamond players, almost every game in very low gold games. They beat us in total team points almost 3 to 4 times sometimes. And when you lose, BAM - 1100 points. If yo udont have the amount of players for a ranked system to be fair, than just straight up delete the mode.   • Add bullet drops beyond max range for all guns, similar to KS23 and SR84. This will make open cashouts guarded by campers easier to push

  • Add 40 damage to direct hits with MGL32, letting it break arena props and shields while also rewarding accurate body hits

  • Add a midair detonation trigger for MGL32 and CL40 with aim button, allowing for early detonation of the shots at 50% damage so that they can still be useful when out of position

  • Make all Pike .556 scopes available for the SR84, and vice versa. Marksman scopes that are compatible with each other should be interchangeable

  • Give Pike to Heavy. Pike is a weak weapon and is outclassed by both the Repeater and Crossbow in terms of poke and dive. The low dps on Pike would be a better fit on Heavy class, finally giving them a Marksman weapon

Can we make the Cerberus a little more viable? Don't get me wrong I like it but it's... What's the best way to describe it? Bipolar? Sometimes you will do a lot of damage even if you barely graze the guy and sometimes when you have your reticle centered on the enemy they will only take 8 damage. In addition I don't like the way the fire damage works. It always burns just enough to leave the guy 1hp, I swear this must be a feature that it can never finish a person off with burn damage just based off of how many times I have seen this happen.

Embark I know medium needs to remain as a walking heal beam and jump pad dispenser but while you are in your experimenting phase, could you experiment with removing the delay from demat and reshaper? I know I‘m asking for a lot here and to compensate you can add a 40 sec cooldown between charges because I would rather have that then this fuck ass delay(plus medium needs to remain a walking heal beam and jump pad dispenser).

While you are at it you can also experiment with adding a fixed pattern to demat because when I try to run away I usually take out 2 pixels from under me, if I want to shoot at someone under me it almost always takes out the entire floor/roof from under me. I know that these changes make too much sense so only implement them when you are running an experiment.

Also, I just wanted to congratulate you guys for the amazing and long awaited infuser nerf that changed absolutely nothing. You guys successfully missed the issue yet again but that’s why we love you Embark, keep em coming.

This game is not for casual players. Health and speed changes, in my opinion, only serve to please the more casual player base. The best fps games are competitive and aware of that. In my opinion The Finals needs to embrace the fact that it is geared towards a competitive player base.

Please, do not nerf goo lock with permanent 0.2 timing.
Goo gun become one of the most versatile utilities in the game, and it basically synergizes with everything. With Sledge also, we need this goo lock timing. But yes, I agree that around goo lock a lot of frustration has accumulated. Especially because of griefing and constant goo locking players on the place for long period of time.

So maybe there can be a compromise? Like: lets first goo lock can be normal 0.8 seconds, second goo lock 0.7 seconds, third 0.5 seconds, fourth 0.3, fiveth 0.1 and etc. After some cooldown, lets say 2 seconds, enemy again will be gooed with full 0.8 seconds stun. Or it'll can be just magazine nerf: not 20 goo blobs, but 16.

Formed community really needs goo lock in any form, but no less than 0.6 seconds. Instead it'll be just useless utill for so many weapons, gadgets and playstyles. And its really sad.

Have the respawns been changed? I feel that with the last updates, respawns tend to favour third parties. Like A LOT. Last season wasnt like that. If your team got wiped out you would respawn within 100m aprox of a cashout with a team alone. Now it doesnt matter if there already 2 teams fighing a cashout, you respawn near them and because of distance and time, you will be forced to go third party them. I feel this is sooo annoying. I understand that a game with 4 teams will eventually set up third party situations, but the change from last season to the current one... very bad, honestly.

All the included anti aliasing settings look really bad and significantly impact the enjoyment of what would otherwise be a really good looking game. As far as I know SMAA is already included in Unreal Engine 5 so it would be really easy to implement.

People claim the SBMM is too strong but personally i think it’s too weak. I don’t want to play against ruby players, ever. Idk about other people but since 10.3 this game has become pretty much unplayable. Constant. Never ending. Lag. And High Ping. Every game. I can tolerate and be open to a lot of changes and balancing to this game but what is left for me to tolerate if I cant even play the game? The connection issues are most definitely not from my end as my connection and internet speed has remained unchanged. Other games I play have not suffered in the slightest. I got bored and wrote a three paragraph message on why Embark should change The Finals' reward system to be closer to Rocket League's reward system. Can't wait for the "I'm not reading allat" replies ch_hop

TLDR: This would make ranks more accurate early in the season, promote more diamond level players to play beyond 40k RS other than hitting Ruby, would make boosting players for rewards harder, and make ranked rewards mean a player is actually at that skill level more than they got lucky and peaked at the bottom of that rank

The Finals' ranked rewards system should be like Rocket League's where player have to climb through the reward tiers instead of simply getting the rewards for reaching the rank. In Rocket League, players start at the bottom, receiving nothing at the end of the season regardless of their rank. As players win ranked games, they progress to the next reward tier, but only if they are at that next tier's rank or higher. A gold player can progress from bronze to silver to gold rewards, but cannot progress to platinum rewards until they win games while at platinum rank. If you derank before finishing a reward tier, your progress is kept and will continue to progress once you rank up again.

In The Finals, this both makes ranked rewards mean something more than simply hitting a peak (as a player has to maintain a rank long enough to hit that rank's rewards) and prevents the entire ranked ladder from being compressed early in the season, placing players much lower than they should be, making ranks incredibly inaccurate for a significant period of time at the start of every season. This would lead to another issue of barrier for Ruby skyrocketing as reasons progress, this could be fixed by limiting the max placement RS to 42500 (instead of the current 28500). This new system also encourages low diamond players to play more beyond barely touching the bottom of diamond, which is healthy for all ranks as high plat and diamond+ players will have more players playing at a time, leading to fewer high ranked players in gold/silver lobbies.

In Rocket League, players must win 10 games per reward tier to progress to the next. In The Finals, not only would this have to be reduced as even a single round of a ranked tournament lasts longer than an entire match of Rocket League (I propose something like 5 wins), the idea of a "win" in the context of this new rewards system would have to be changed too if we want progression to feel fair across all ranks. I propose that a win for ranked rewards should be counted as a tournament where RS isn't lost instead of simply qualifying to the next round or winning the final round. This makes progression fair as RS gain and loss is generally indicative of how the game expected you to perform in that tournament. A player will have to perform better than expected for the game to count it as a win (for the rewards system ONLY, I'm not proposing that this W/L system is used for actually tracking wins and losses.)

As a sidenote, this new rewards system shouldn't affect the ranked player card badge, as that's indicative of peak rank more than anything.

EXTREME PING ISSUE: I dont know why more people arent talking about this but the game is abselutly unplayable for me and many of my friends right now. Some rounds its fine but others it feels like im playing on NA servers (im in eu) or even worse, even when only selecting eu in the regions, sometimes with constant 500ms delay. When checking my ping manually i get around 12ms even with the game open and running. Please fix this, it must be fixable as it only started recently

Matchmaking for casuals in this game is cooked, especially for anyone decent playing solo.

Quick Cash is meant to be casual but it’s the opposite right now for decent casual players. Every second game, really
 most games for me, you’re up against full 3 stacks running like it’s ranked finals, while your team is three randoms (sometimes a duo of lights) with zero comms and no coordination.

And it’s definitely not a player population issue, because it’s clearly not. I’ve rotated through multiple different 3 stacks in the same session. They exist. There’s enough of them to match against each other. So why are they constantly being put against solos?

In a 3v3 mode, a full stack is a massive advantage (coordinated holds, movements, staying on top of each other). It’s not like bigger team games where a party is just part of the team.

This is the kind of thing that makes people quit and new players aren’t sticking around to get farmed by stacked teams 24/7. Solo players aren’t going to grind through this either. Casual modes are supposed to keep the game alive and drive new player experience. Having to play 100% stacked teams as a new player because SBMM says so, isn’t optimal.

Just successfully spawn camped the attackers to death on starlight hollow in point break. It’s been made harder to do for sure with the most recent adjustments but a group of real dedicated dinguses can get er’ done. This is also an issue on Nozomi, since folks can just camp out in the lower courtyard of that first push and mop up attackers. Going in the right direction for sure but there’s still improvements to be made. Also Point Break related the amount of xp, fans, etc seems oddly low for this mode. Especially considering how long some games run, I just had a match were some players were racking up nearly 50 kills by the end and after winning on attack I left with less than 2k xp, less than 1k fans, and like 1 legacy pass tokens if you get one at all. This isn’t really an issue in WT (except with legacy tokens) so this adjustment seems possible.

Given how massive a change the respec would be I believe we should have some way of directly voting for it rather than sending our feedback into the void.

I feel like the way the respec was implemented: as a wt change instead of a limited time mode will be used as justification to push the change if the number of people playing wt this week barely changes from last week. There may be a ton of people who don’t like this change but just want to play wt and it skews the data a bit.

I personally will not be playing wt until it goes back to normal. I’ve tried the respec and don’t want it. I don’t think others who don’t want it will do the same though.

no it's not, it's one of the best changes they ever done to this game.

Anyways, cloak and turret needs rework, they're too weak as specs compared to others.

Rework ideas for turrets:

  1. Turn the turret into a drone or RC with wheels, that can be moved remotely by pressing Q. This will make managing the turret and repositioning easier.

  2. Rework it into 2 smaller turrets with half the cooldown, health and damage. Having 2 turrets mean they can cover more angles, protect each other and grant a backup in hand when one is destroyed or falls down, which happens way too often. It would make the turrets more effective without increasing power.

  3. Make it an equipment, that's it. The turret is already too limited in it's functionality to be a complete specialization, being too easy to counter without enough damage to justify the opportunity cost over others. It would be simpler to just make it an equipment like Healing Emitter, which is useful but not strong enough to be a full-fledged specialization.

Rework ideas for Cloak:

  1. Like TF2, Make cloak completely silent. But also, disable all weapons and items during cloak, and make decloaking slow and loud. So cloak can be more useful, but also force the user to be more careful when and where to attack.

  2. Add a phasing effect. While using cloak, jumping allows the user to pass through walls and obstacles while consuming more energy. Like Dematerializer, but only user can pass through and leave behind no hole for teammates or enemy. Allows cloak to be used for infiltration and escape through walls.

Any 1 of these changes for each would make them more useful as specs.

The update was so bad. During a Ranked tournament (YES RANKED), what happened on 2nd round: 2 people from each team got connected to a game, and the remaining 1 was connected to another game. So we had 2 matches in parallel, our solo guy didnt qualify but we did, and he still joined us for the final match.
It was a funny bug, but it's surprisingly trash one. GG Embark

Giving the heavy class a healing emitter is basically saying mediums no longer need to be helping anyone out as the heavy class can now heal themselves and all teammates.
(Make healing emitter work just like any other healing item allow it to heal to a certain amount then it self destructs itself/or goes into a cooldown)
having it heal forever until it’s destroyed or thrown away from them is not the way as heavy’s can put domes and barricades around it. Not to mention lock bolt you down if you get to close. Let’s be realistic heavy’s were made for defense. Also as a light main remove healing items from light class too. I miss when this game was balanced with light being combat, medium being healing and heavy being defense. Now if your a heavy class your all 3. Medium are useless now. And lights are strait up killing machines that don’t need to heal other players.

This. 100%. I think this recent update to Cashout has made me realize 1) that all it did was buff heavies and nerf lights to be honest and 2) that there is a systemic flaw with the entire game and no it is not health and speed. It's your medium. You have made them... basically useless as a support class. If you are going to build a game with a support character you need to build around them and make them fun to play. Medium is not fun to play, especially in the most recent shadow nerf/bug for the shockwave. This video by lootgoblin on Youtube is great at explaining. It's about TF2 for the most part but this applies to any and all class-based, multiplayer team games. Fixing this systemic problem won't be easy but I think it will sky rocket this game into the stratosphere if done right. Like no doubt. TF2 is still played and very popular and new stuff is added every century if any at all.

Hello Embark,
I’d like to share a couple of suggestions.

First, I think it would be really useful to have a feature that lets you preview the player card pose of an emote before purchasing it. Since The Finals is an FPS, it’s not really a game where players tend to spam emotes — they’re fun, but not as "central to the experience" as in games like Fortnite. Personally, the main reason I’d consider buying emotes is to customize my player card, so being able to preview how they look there would make a big difference.

Second, I think it would be great to add more meaningful rewards for top-ranked players, especially for the top 10 or top 100 (or even top 99). Right now, the reward for being in the top 10 is having your name on a trophy in the Practice Range...which honestly feels pretty insignificant — For context, I’m not a top 500 player and likely won’t be, but I believe these changes would still benefit the competitive experience overall.

It could be more engaging to introduce "time-limited" rewards that stay on your profile for the duration of the season. For example, if at the end of the season I’m ranked 97, I could receive a “Top 100” outfit or jersey with the number 97 on it (or even a standard jersey for everyone, since numbers can be customized). At the end of the season, if I drop out of the top 100, I would lose the item.

I also think this could somehow help reduce smurfing: by adding more meaningful and interesting rewards (especially for top 100), players would have a stronger incentive to keep grinding on their main account instead of creating new ones to climb again. This would ultimately lead to a healthier competitive environment.

In the final round, the other team played better than us. But they weren't pushing the objective - they just stood there and shot at us. For 25 minutes they stalled and didn't let us lose. It's torture. You can't leave the game, you can't stand still either. Some of the worst emotions in my life - random strangers stealing my time for their own enjoyment. The devs need to do something about ** like these.

Because movement, survivability, and damage can all happen at the same time with minimal commitment, dash removes the need to choose between escaping and fighting. Most other tools in the game force a tradeoff between repositioning and output, but dash lets you do both at once with high reliability.

A low-impact fix would be to make dash always move in the direction of the crosshair, like it already does when no movement keys are pressed. In that state, dash goes straight relative to aim even if you spin during it: https://streamable.com/agly3t

If dash were tied to crosshair direction, that changes:

  • Escaping would require committing your aim away from the target
  • Continuing to deal damage would require committing your movement toward or around the fight

That separation brings back meaningful decisions under pressure. Instead of one input covering multiple problems at once, players would have to prioritise - either disengage cleanly or stay engaged and risk punishment.

Adding directional commitment would restore that layer of gameplay without reducing the skill ceiling.

The seeding system needs to go, 90% of the time it has absolutely no say in team strengths (especially in solo queue) and it punishes you massively for getting unlucky or even actively getting griefed by the other teams. It is a very bad feature to have ranked point rewards be tied to the seeding because of this reason. It also makes it a gamble whether you loser 200 or 1000 ranking within 10 minutes, or gaining 600 or 2000 in 30. This means if you are unlucky and constantly get a low seeding, it can take you up to three times as long to rank up for the same level of performance. The inverse is also true, if you are unlucky you may lose rating three times as fast as if you are lucky. This dependancy on so many luck based factors can completely ruin the competitive experience

Could be cool but would be hard to stand out against other options considering how many pistols/revolvers already exist in game. It unfortunately probably couldn’t be a revolver considering there are already 2 of them. The next thing that comes to mind is a deagle but heavy already has the akimbos. It can’t be fast firing because v9s already exists and full auto would be pointless too.

I think a good option for smth that would stand out would be a 4-shot break action derringer. Give it good dmg per shot, bad recoil, decent accuracy and dmg drop off, mid reload speed.

Folks have been getting shot and winched around corners for years now, and now more recently we’re seeing more and more reports of bullets not registering. The discrepancy between player locations from screen to screen is getting silly, it’s like I’m playing dark souls 3 pvp again. No other multiplayer shooter I’ve played has had this problem to this degree, even faster paced ones like Titanfall 2.

I’ve had mountains of anecdotal evidence for ages, getting killed by snipers through walls as I peek in and out is basically an hourly occurrence when I’m playing. But here’s a great visual demonstration of these issues from the bug reports channel: https://discord.com/channels/1008696016318513243/1490774959864287414 . You can see from OPs pov that their entire head is below the ground when they get hooked, but when the replay runs it shows the winch connecting basically before they even start falling downward. That’s a full heavy’s height difference between screens, nearly half a second of fall time unaccounted for on the enemy’s screen.

This is absolutely unacceptable in a shooter in my opinion, we’re forced to make snap decisions with great aiming precision but basically all cover has a half a second deadzone until you’re actually safe. If you play light regularly that means that in theory quite a few weapons could bring you from full health to zero while you are fully behind cover on your screen.

I understand the way that the server keeps track of destruction is quite complicated and where we’re at is commendable really. But I just wish this latency was being prioritized or at the very least commented on, especially when y’all have decided to go all in on e-sports.

Oh also achievements have been broken across all platforms since Thursday. That wasn’t even worth a mention in the hotfix notes? Yeesh.

Can someone explain what the purpose of this "you cant queue with people 10000 RS lower or higher" thing is, if most of the matchmaker abuse comes from smurfs in 3 stacks queueing with a bronze/silver to get into low lobbies? Its almost like embark WANTS smurfing to happen. Every single game I've played the last 2 nights has been a 6th place first round knockout where I get brutally bullied by people with 70k in cash, with my team having less than 10k. You can’t queue with a duo, but I think a trio you can.

But even as solo bronze I had lobbies of at least 2 gold full stacks. Even players with Ruby backgrounds.

Thats me as a solo player who when solo queues mostly gets team mates with 1500 - 3000RS. Of course I always come last or second last.

This is my first time trying ranked, so placement matches with low level bronzes against silvers and golds meant I lost every game and was lucky to start with 10k RS. All my light team mates would run off and die 200m away the spam revive or get angry they died and no one helped.

It makes zero sense that I have only been given bronze team mates while solo queue enemies in silver are getting silver or gold. And there’s silver, gold pre made three stacks.

Fix the cheater problem. The game has lost so much potential. It’s so frustrating to play with one team having 3x-4x kills and damage. All they need to do is post the stats of accuracy or shots hit. Some of the lobbies I’m in it’s 90 percent. I don’t believe these are legit.

Uhhh I think the game is pretty damn fun. Been playing since s3 almost religiously. I’ve only come across 2-3 cheaters in my time.
Regarding the new World Tour Test with the health bars closer together, I’m actually pretty against this. I’d prefer if you kept it normally. People will complain no matter what. The balancing of the game is pretty damn good. The only weapons that aren’t performing well are the clearly joke weapons that were never intended to be high level weapons (Sword, Dagger, Dual) Honestly just keep it the way it is now, there’s no need for any HUGE update to shake things up. People will complain about anything.

Really? I have 1100h inround time and i got atleast 50 confirmed reports the last seasons. Ive found that there is alot of soft cheating (recoil scripts etc) and less hard cheats in the later seasons.

Point Break has seen more cheaters as of late as it has no death cam while modes like Cashout/Worldtour has alot less. Havent played alot of ranked of late but i can imagine that diamond+ is where most of them live.

  1. Revert shockwave verticality nerf, literally no one complained about it.

  2. Revert all demat nerfs and just give it 2 charges, or at least remove that god awful delay between switching to it and the moment you can actually use it, because it's nearly unusable in CQC. Also it still has a bug where it consumes 2 charges instead of 1 within a single interaction.

  3. Add detailed weapon stats and match history. Those bars on weapon stats really feel rudimentary. Why do i need to know headshot multiplier of the weapon if i don't see its damage in numbers in the first place. Also killcount and hours played for every weapon, spec and gadget would be neat too.

Fix your matchmaking for QC.

No one logs on and goes “I feel like playing a few quick games solo queue QC against multiple pre made 3 stacks”

They log on to solo queue because they may not have time to get a pre made going, they’re only on for a few games etc. it’s supposed to be the causal mode, the mode that new players play.

No new player is keeping this game installed longer than 5 games if all they get solo queue is pre made 3 stacks.

Fix your EOMM, good solo players should not be punished by playing only high level, high hour 3 stacks.

Tonight 2/3 games were already games in progress being lost, all against pre made teams.

Edit 3/5 games, all matches in progress. Fix your matchmaking.

How to correctly balance the 93R

The recent 93R changes did nothing but make it an overpowered light deleter while having basically no effect on the classes it struggles against, which are medium and heavy. Hence, Embark needs to look at other ways to balance it rather than altering the damage.
This can be done by making the burst delay shorter, which will make it more viable against ALL classes while not making it overpowered versus lights.

Proposed 93R changes:
Damage: 24** (revert from 25 back to 24)**
Burst delay: 0,275s > 0,23s

This change will result in the following TTKs (Time-to-kill):

Body:
light: 0,54s -> ** 0,72s** (7 shots) (does NOT 2 burst lights with body shots only)
medium: 1.22s -> 1,14s (11 shots)
heavy: 1.68s -> 1,56s (15 shots)

Head:
light: 0.40s -> 0,42s (5 shots)
medium: 0.81s -> 0,72s (7 shots)
heavy: 1.22s -> 1,08s (10 shots)

Damage drop-off minimum range: 30m ->** 27m**
Damage drop-off maximum range: 37.5m ->** 34.5m**
Damage Dropoff Modifier @ Max Range: 50%** (it stays the same)**

These changes will make the weapon solid while not making it overpowered; for comparison, the ARN, a weapon with effectively a 60 round magazine, compared to the 93R's 21, more range, and fully automatic has TTKs that are on average 10% faster than the 93R (except light). This makes it effectively a completely superior option while being easier to use and way more forgiving. Missing a burst on the 93R means you are extremely penalised in your killing potential. This isn't the case for the ARN.

With these changes, the 93R will not 2 burst lights with body shots only, which is the product of an oversimplified buff to damage.
This proposal will also make the 93R less capable to poke at long range due to lower minimum and maximum drop-off ranges, leaving that task to options such as the ARN and the LH1 (preserves the weapon niche).

I think if you rebalance the weapon damages across the board then the health change is going to be really beneficial. I can imagine it being a lot easier to balance items with less of a health disparity between the builds, but I don't want lights to be more tanky and heavies to be less tanky as a result of the health changes. TTK's across all the weapons thus far should remain the same with or without the health changes. However, I hard disagree with the movement speed changes, this takes away the identity between the archetypes.

But I love that we are doing such drastic experimental changes, a great step in the right direction for transparency and player feedback.

I’ll add to this and ask that you make it so the window for stun is only .5 or make it so the gooing only happens to the person using it. I dislike stun a lot but self goo was a very useful tactic for keeping myself alive with a spec that takes so much time to set up sustain for the player. If you decrease the time to set up cover that works on most sides for the player no one would care about or need a stun because they’d always have reliable cover.

Serious feedback on Sword

I played Sword for about 1000h (hit rank 90 with it before) and a few things get lost in the heated "Sword is overpowered/unplayable" discussion.

First of all both sides need to be understood where they are coming from.

Yes in a casual lobby where people don't hit the important shots a Sword that is just running around and left clicking people to death seems absurd, overpowered and has little to do with skill expression.

The Problem is as soon as you cross the line of people investing enough time to hit even just a moderate amount of their shots left clicks become less and less viable and you have to learn combos and movement tricks to minimize the damage you take while maximizing the damage output. That's where the sword lunge comes in. Lunging is the part where skill expression shows with movement, spacial awareness and positioning. With reducing the damage AND introducing a rotation clamp the lunge becomes really clunky to use and less effective than the simpler M1 spamm.

So what can Embark do to fix the issue for both sides ? Put the focus of the weapon back on the lunge to reduce frustrating scenarios.

Second Problem, lunging through an entire team and dealing massive damage with very little counterplay should not be a thing. It is very frustrating to play against and extremely situational. It should be like other melee weapons. Left clicking less damage but can multihit and the "special attack" single target but is special in some way. Hammer has a single target high damage and destruction. Sword should have single target damage on the lunge but high mobility.

The rotational clamp itself got introduced to get rid of people 360° rotating through an entire team for a huge hurtbox and is without multihits therefore redundant. The server sided calculation of it has been bugged ever since it got introduced but has never been adressed. In the current season flicking the lunge will still yank back your entire camera and make accurate aiming impossible.

I intentionally didn't talk about hit registration because it haunts the game as a whole and has only gotten worse in the beginning of season 10 but of course it increases the frustration for alot of people. Hit detection, desyncs and server performance in general should be a heavy focus for you because it is very frustrating and from experience playing with alot of different people a big reason people ragequit or in general leave the game. Like all other bugs it should not be a reason to increase/decrease the weapons power and should rather be fixed.

Changes

M1 Damage 88 -> 74 (one more left click for each class)

Lunge Multihits -> removed
Lunge Damage 120 -> 140 (without multihits and less left click damage you need the combo breakpoint of 136 to have a fighting chance)
Lunge rotational clamp -> removed

Other Feedback

Ranked needs one less round. The current playerbase can't sustain proper matchmaking with 24 player lobbies. Cutting it in half with 12 player lobbies and 2 rounds for everyone so even the "losing teams" play for 3rd place would not only help with players being on similar skill levels but also relieve frustration for the casual playerbase from losing rs in 15 mins but gaining the same amount in 45 mins.

Small QOL Updates You have so many good features that would be little work for you but would impact the community positively and fill the content breaks. One example would be releasing the collected data about weapons etc. as an api just like for example "op.gg" or "lolalytics" from League of Legends. Collab with the talented people in your community that already built sites like the leaderboard/bans/rename tracker. Other ones would be changing the weapon stats to numbers instead of a vague bar so it's more readable, adding assists to the profile or having a simple match history that locally saves the stats of the last 10 games or so.

I’m not sure anyone will read this, but I think the perspective of someone who bounced off the game matters more than just hearing from people who already like everything.

I have around 300 hours in The Finals and I’ve been playing since the early closed tests — back when everyone was bald 🙂 I stopped for many of the same reasons that still exist today.

I recently came back and was disappointed to see that, aside from some balance and destruction changes, the core issues are still there.

The main problem is that the game rewards moments instead of consistency. You can control a cashout most of the round and still lose everything because the last one is worth the most and takes the least time. This pushes last-second steals instead of rewarding good play.

The format feels confusing. You play two parallel matches, and you’re compared to players you may never interact with.

Spawn logic removes agency — you can’t choose where to respawn and often end up in bad situations.

Ranked feels unfair and unclear. You can be labeled “best in the lobby” and get punished more for a loss, even against stronger teams. It doesn’t handle team imbalance well.

High TTK + 3-player teams makes everything dependent on teammates. If someone leaves or the team isn’t coordinated, the match becomes nearly unplayable, and compensation is minimal.

There’s also too much downtime — after wipes or near the end, you’re often just waiting with nothing meaningful to do.

The 3v3 finals feel like an anti-climax with slow wipe cycles. A 5-team format fighting to avoid elimination could add more depth and allow for a better 3-team final.

The game has great destruction and gunplay, but right now it feels more chaotic than tactical, and more frustrating than rewarding. It’s disappointing not to see more experimentation given its potential.

At least the game seems to be doing well commercially — you can see expensive skins and deluxe passes in every lobby.

Completely bugged. Shows friends as online, playing, or queueing when they are not. Issue introduced this season.

Would be good to see the anti cheat look at system security settings like Secure Boot, IOMMU/VT-d, etc being disabled, as these are often linked to DMA setups.

Anti cheats like FACEIT Anti-Cheat and Vanguard already factor in overall system security and low level behaviour as part of detection. Not saying ban off one setting, but it should count towards spotting suspicious environments.

Feels like a gap at the moment that could be tightened up to help keep things fair.

M11, V9S, ARN, and LH1 are all equally good in their ideal scenarios. Light has the most variety in meta picks. Heavy on the other hand only has 2 viable weapons at high elo; SA1216 and ShAK-50. It's also important to know that SA1216 has been meta for the majority of this games life. Even Medium has at least 4 'meta' weapons. (FCAR, Chimera, Revolver, and Repeater)

The real issues are the XP-54, M60, and Famas being underpowered compared to other picks.

Re-upping some suggestions for ranked mode changes:

  • Make tournament size adaptive to the amount and quality of players online (anywhere from going straight to a 2 team Final Round if it's difficult to find fair matchups, all the way up to old-school 16-team tournaments when there is an abundance of similarly ranked players).
  • Continue to provide seedings at the start of the tournament (which was an essential feature when you added it), but compute and reveal RS changes only at the end of the tournament, so that you can give credit for Cashout Round placings, to encourage people to play for 1st place in every round.
    Separately, I feel bad for the people struggling with performance, but the game has been buttery smooth for me recently. Thank you! I don't know what you did, but I hope it's something you can maintain.

HERE TO PUSH MY AGENDA AGAIN
I'm back, and with some minor tweaks.

GIVE SOME WEAPONS A QUICK KICK THAT REPLACES QM.

This is the most elegant solution to melee balance I have decided on after significant consideration. Allow me to explain what I envision it doing, and why;

  • Kick off of walls hard enough to allow even heavies to perform movement tech. This would directly boost the options they have in getting to enemy positions, and getting out of bad positions. Ideally, melee players will be able to slide across walls such as in Deadlock and quick melee would automatically push away from the wall.
  • Push enemies away and off ledges. Currently, melee players just can't deal with platforms on some maps as you're most often automatically out of position by being on one. Additionally, this would give all melee players more options against Sword players, due to how they can easily outspace them in 1v1s by lunging through them repeatedly. This is coming from a Sword player.
  • Class dependent features: bigger hitbox depending on class, leaving light only slightly higher since the balance of lunge+QM oneshot combos against lights is important; shorter and longer endlag causing Lights to be able to climb some vertical walls while Heavies have to walljump like mario; knockback from kicks, which would be massive for Heavies and almost none on Light; and finally damage, which would be the same for Lights and highest for heavies.
  • It should interrupt certain abilities and actions, such as winching, grappling, lunging, spear spinning, holding objects, reviving, taking cashout, etcetra. NOT reloading, to be clear. The first is to give Dagger and Sword players a chance against a sledgehammer/winch player, as a competent sledgehammer user against an equally skilled sword player will usually get the one shot in 80% of cases, due to how generous the sweeping angle is, similarly to lunges.

Good morning, loved the recent Famas and 93R buffs, but i do have some suggestions:

  • We should revert the Shockwave nerf and return the jump pad interaction;
  • Demat was shadow nerfed (pullout time dramatically increased);
  • CL-40 was shadow nerfed (reduced fire rate);
  • Model 1887 fire rate has always been less than the listed 77 rpm (currently about 72);
  • BFR Titan fire rate is still lower that stated (btw that gun needs some buffs too);
  • The Goo Gun nerf should NOT return, instead you could simply give players goo-stun immunity after 2-3 blobs to retain heavy's melee viability;
  • Melee weapons are still horrible but i suppose you're leaving that for Season 11;
  • Smokes still have a ridiculously long cooldown despite you advertising them on youtube shorts???;
  • M11 on Light is extremely overpowered but must retain it's DPS, simply making the reload longer would punish people who miss 2 mags but kill you anyway;
  • Dagger is extremely janky and relies on broken back hitboxes, fixing those while giving it a movement ability would be fun;
  • Pyro Grenade could use a fire radius increase to improve viability;
  • Pike 5.56 is still horrible, could use a fire rate and mag buff;
  • Breach Drill sucks, it could use a C4-like remote activation;

Fix your EOMM matchmaking. It’s horrible for good players who solo queue.

Wait times become blown out, I get faster games as a sweaty three stack than I do solo queue.

The games are always unbalanced and I always lose.

I just tried Point Break. Multiple enemies over level 150 who are duo stacked.

My team had one duo, and significantly lower levels, lower kills, lower wins.

It took 2 minutes as per estimated time for my first game of the day, first game is always a loss, so it’s expected.

Now I’m 12 minutes waiting when expected time is 2 minutes. During a busier time of day as well.

NA servers queueing for point break. Second time in a row waiting over 10 minutes. Looks like I’ll hit over 20mins or quit before I get a game.

When Head to Head is back?!

The only real mode Head to Head besides TDM got removed and I ask why?
This was the only mode which was less luck and chaos based because only 3v3 and no other teams coming in and ruin the party. This is such a shame. We played it like 90% of the time if we were only 3 players.

And btw why you still can't play Point Break with 8 players in a lobby? It doesn't make sense. So we are still stuck to 3 players for cashout or 5 players with mostly trash modes besides TDM.

Embark, just why removing Head to Head? Don't remove good stuff to push worse modes...

I'm so disappointed of Embark. With removing Head to Head they showed exactly how they don't understand anything. Focus on performance, gunplay, aim. Not on trash cheap ability stuff.

I literally joined this server just to say that the health and speed changes are literally the worst thing this game has ever had done to it. Medium is actually unplayable right now unless you're spamming CL40. The game balance existed and worked and even just 25 health to light upends that entire balance. Weapons like Repeater become weapons that reward skill to useless paperweights that serve no purpose in the sandbox as the breakpoints for Light and Medium become nearly identical minus hitting a headshot on Light followed by a bodyshot. So the question remains, why run Medium at all? Gadgets, that's it. Medium is a gadget slave. Lights increased health pool makes them play closer to Medium now but with more movement gadgets, and the Heavy speed increase has made weapons like Sledge and Flamethrower dominate any close-medium (if they know what they're doing) range engagements. And the minor health decrease does yes change some breakpoints but their health pool is still large enough to tank enough rounds to get their kills before they die. Pike has been absolutely decimated (again) by the health changes and the only real viable options now are automatics and high DPS weapons, precision weapons like LH1, SR, Repeater, Pike, BFR have just been neutured with the changes and each will need substantial damage increases to make viable which could also just be solved by, get this, not going through with the health change in the first place.

the amount of people hacking with xim and cronos zen in the usa evening time is insane. i saw one lobby where 2 whole teams in cashout were all using these hacks. there are also a ton of people using map hack and mele weapons, ill hide up some where on a goo wall and people will know im there when they can't at all 100% can not know, but they will poke me up there before i know they are even looking. they will legit poke me on sight with other grenades and what not. the cheating is so bad its not playable in usa evening time at all. spawn get aimboted, repeat.

I would like to be able to queue for a specific map, or at least have a priority set on a specific map. With the release of Starlight Hollow I now fully know the layout of that map because I could queue it specifically. All the other maps are still very difficult for me to know what is where.

Also, playing quick modes should give the same amount of World Tour points. I dont want to be stuck playing the core mode all the time to get those points. The quick modes give way less. Maybe a way to track a double or triple consecutive win for 14 or 25 World Tour points just like in cashout mode.

My only gripe with this game’s progression is how absurdly long it takes to get show tokens for legacy passes, with contracts not giving any boost to their gains it feels infinitely slower than the active pass to progress and makes me not want to get more than one or two legacy passes because I won’t ever play enough to progress more than that. I’ve nearly finished the base pages for the current pass and have finished less than a third of one legacy pass in that time for comparison

, cloak and turret needs rework, they're currently the weakest specs of their respective classes. But they still have decent viability in lower ranks, meaning they need not simple numerical changes but something more to also be useful in higher ranks.

Some rework ideas for turrets:

  1. Turn the turret into a drone or RC with wheels, that can be moved remotely by pressing Q. This will make managing the turret and repositioning easier.

  2. Rework it into 2 smaller turrets with half the cooldown, health and damage. Having 2 turrets mean they can cover more angles, protect each other and grant a backup in hand when one is destroyed or falls down, which happens way too often. It would make the turrets more effective without increasing power.

  3. Make it an equipment, that's it. The turret is already too limited in it's functionality to be a complete specialization, being too easy to counter without enough damage to justify the opportunity cost over others. It would be simpler to just make it an equipment like Healing Emitter, which is useful but not strong enough to be a full-fledged specialization.

Some rework ideas for Cloak:

  1. Like TF2, Make cloak completely silent. But also, disable all weapons and items during cloak, and make decloaking slow and loud. So cloak can be more useful, but also force the user to be more careful when and where to attack.

  2. Add a phasing effect. While using cloak, user can jump to move through walls and consume extra energy. Like Dematerializer, but only user can pass through and leave behind no hole for teammates or enemy. Allows cloak to be used for infiltration and escape through walls.

  3. 10% increased movement speed during cloak, simple enough but extremely effective on an already fast class. Many players, especially Dagger mains have been claiming that cloak doesn't have enough mobility compared to Dash or Hook, so, just give them that. Easy fix.

Any 1 of these changes for each would make them more useful as specs.

Servers need HELLA REMODELING, how is one game solid good with reg and damage and the next its a fucking joke, 2m away, shot heavy in the back with swd off, all pellets hit and it doesnt even kill them but i can take damage from bullets when im already around the corner. fucking mbark man fix your servers
1 Sided servers where one team gets benefits with damage and reg while the other suffers with desyncs, do some server maintenance, im happy you guys get ddos since thats the only time you actually do any server inspections and "rEpAiRs" shame how hackers need to force you to do server maintenance to fix your game and make it more consistent. just do weekly repairs/maintenance, drop the game for 2 or so hours before weekly reset and do repairs.

how is practice range damage and registration MUCH better than the regular matches, hitscan gun should act the same with reg and damage but they dont, fix the game

How to correctly balance the 93R

The recent 93R changes did nothing but make it an overpowered light deleter while having basically no effect on the classes it struggles against, which are medium and heavy. Hence, Embark needs to look at other ways to balance it rather than altering the damage.
This can be done by making the burst delay shorter, which will make it more viable against ALL classes while not making it overpowered versus lights.

Proposed 93R changes:
RPM - 1000 (current cycle rate)
Damage: 24** (revert from 25 back to 24)**
Burst delay: 0,284s > 0,235s

This change will result in the following TTKs (Time-to-kill):

Body:
light: 0,52s -> ** 0,71s** (7 shots) (does NOT 2 burst lights with body shots only)
medium: 1.21s -> 1,12s (11 shots)
heavy: 1.68s -> 1,58s (15 shots)

Head:
light: 0.40s -> 0,415s (5 shots)
medium: 0.81s -> 0,71s (7 shots)
heavy: 1.21s -> 1,065s (10 shots)

Damage drop-off minimum range: 30m ->** 27m**
Damage drop-off maximum range: 37.5m ->** 34.5m**
Damage Dropoff Modifier @ Max Range: 50%** (it stays the same)**

Keep the mag size at** 21** to preserve the 93R's punishing nature.

These changes will make the weapon solid while not making it overpowered; for comparison, the ARN, a weapon with effectively a 60 round magazine, more range, and fully automatic has TTKs that are on average 10% faster than the 93R (except light). This makes it effectively a completely superior option while being easier to use and way more forgiving. Missing a burst on the 93R means you are extremely penalised in your killing potential. This isn't the case for the ARN.

With these changes, the 93R will not 2 burst lights with body shots only, which is the product of an oversimplified buff to damage.
This proposal will also make the 93R less capable to poke at long range due to lower minimum and maximum drop-off ranges, leaving that task to options such as the ARN and the LH1 (preserves the weapon niche).

Completely bugged. Shows friends as online, playing, or queueing when they are not. Issue introduced this season.

  • Chat Censoring

Bugged since release. Some insults pass through while common words are censored inconsistently. This is frustrating.

LMH health/speed changes:

Both casual and tryhard friends don't notice a significant difference between 150/250/350 and 175/250/325 with the move speed changes

One player actaully thought the update was live on point break and was complaining about it....

certain weapons are thrown off, but even so, it's very playable and the movespeed changes mostly made the differences less significant

with good changes to weapons to match, I'm certain it will improve the game

You’re playing moving platforms wrong then. Stay off the platforms and defend from a distance or move the terminal off the platform itself. I believe all classes now have a way to move the terminal.
It’s significantly easier to defend the cashout from a close distance at her than being ON the point. ESPECIALLY the moving platforms with little to no real cover

After playing since S1 and 1500+ hours
 I think the only way to fix the current issues with ranked matchmaking is to have smaller bracket games.

Instead of 8 teams and 3 rounds, it’s time to go down to 4 teams, 2 rounds.

Smaller lobbies would improve matchmaking times, 2 rounds offer quicker games, and in addition there needs to be some hard rules for Ruby players not getting matched against Gold. The skill gap is unfair for both.

High ELO players are getting terrible RS in return for their time investment and everyone else who can’t close the gap on a team that’s tens of thousands of RS above your own is going to lose hundreds to thousands in RS. It doesn’t make any sense.

I’d rather wait a longer queue time than go into a match where the skill range is wide. Wide shouldn’t even be an option.

so a guy and his team got banned cause the players from VGG were getting shyt on by chikenphobia and his group and the losers from VGG got mad a contacted and "guy" they knew on embark and chikenphobia and his team got banned within 13 hrs.
