Increase the number of pellets on the Model 1887 but keep the total damage the same.

This way, if you partially miss a shot then it punishes bad aim while people that put in the time to lear the range and pattern are rewarded for more accurate center-of-mass shots.

Playing on PlayStation, the new update has inverted the equipment wheel, change it back or allow an option in settings to change it according to preference. For example if I try to select the bottom gadget the input is inverted so I now select my gun which makes selecting gadgets from the equipment wheel counter intuitive.

That’s -19k elo because of Solo Que teammates being bad at the game….

From plat2 - gold 4. I place top dmg and obj almost every round. I play light so I plug objectives first with gateway, set a good pace, get info, get chip damage, never die first, put gateway on point, play defuse, distract, play off teammates engagements, revive.

But my teammates are actually actively throwing some matches, while others they just don’t know how to play and it makes for unpredictable interactions.

It’s really frustrating.

FEEDBACK ON RANKED SYSTEM:

As a top 600 player this season I just wanna say the ranked system is really bad. I gain 200 for an ultimate win but lose 1k points when you lose.

The main reason the ranked system right now doesn’t work well is because of the fact you get punished so hard for getting “grieved” out in the first round. Sometimes its your team vs the other 3 and teams will team up and not shoot eachoter to grief you out because your team is intimidating.

Then u have to win 4,5 matches and play 2,5 hours approximately to regain everything you lost within 10 minutes. I think this system right now isn’t fun, fair and rewarding.

Players around 42,500 RS should be treated way differently because its too demotivating and scary to have to perform a 90% winrate or otherwise you’re wasting ur time playing the game.

If people disconnect in your team, you get punished immediately and improperly and if people cheat u get punished either on top of the risk that teams are grieving you out.

Please reform this system so it’s more rewarding and engaging for higher leveled players!

A high damage shotgun has no place on medium. An anti-dive weapon like that is incredibly unhealthy to have on the only character capable of healing and direct support. Medium's other anti-dive weapons like riot shield and dual blades work because they can deny pushers with their defensive abilities (ideally), while being super committal since they're melee weapons. This is far healthier for the class since they rely on your team being present to capitalize off it instead of just annihilating the pusher instantly while still being capable in team fights and 1v1s.

So in short, nerf the model's damage output, increase its range, and buff riot shield and dual blades to block damage more consistently so they're less of a throw pick.

A friend pointed something out to me—why the hell does the sword lunge charge (a big-ass metal object) happen faster than a kitchen knife that’s just being held at a different angle?

For those who care, here are the numbers:

Dagger charge time: 0.81 seconds (technically 0.8, but it’s inconsistent).
Sword charge time: 0.5 seconds.
Let’s break this down: The sword has:

140 damage on lunge, which can one- or two-shot every class from any angle.
A lingering hitbox (0.3 seconds) that makes it forgiving AF.
No directional limitations—you can wildly turn around mid-charge and still smack someone.
Meanwhile, the dagger:

Needs a backstab to shine (but hit reg on backstab can be awful sometimes).
Punishes you with a movement penalty immediately when charging, making it easy for a heavy to outrun you. A HEAVY.
Has worse left-click DPS and requires way more precision to even be viable.
Oh, and the cherry on top? The sword can charge mid-air, and the dagger used to have something cool to balance that (RIP emote dash). Now the sword just dominates in every way.

My Suggestions for Fixing the Dagger:

Remove the walking speed penalty while charging.
Or delay the penalty to start after 0.8 seconds.
Better yet, make the charge releasable at 0.6 seconds instead of 0.8 to make it feel snappier, like in Season 3.

the matchmaking is so ass it's impossible to climb in solo queue because when you are doing well you are getting bad or new players as teammates, the game expects you to carry everything which is impossible at 35k+
it's especially visible when you get 2-3 bad games in a row and then suddenly you get really good teammates

The stun gun really is too OP.

light is made for evasion, you get shot by 1 bullet and starts strafing, dodging, so you often get to apply skill and survive
this cant happen with stun gun in use
one player gets their core class feature removed, and just has to sit there and act as a target dummy
while the other one is actually allowed to play the game and avoid shots

stun gun with sh1900 specifically is a problem when playing light
stun gun can you hit from far away, eliminating the low-range risk factor sh1900 normally has
and once youre stunned you cant dodge sh1900, removing pretty much all remaining counterplay
it basically counteracts db's downsides in the wort possible ways and turns it low risk/high reward

melee users also just cant fight back or get away at all, theyre free kills too

while swapping to any given gadget, youre already taking damage (and in case of sh1900, you get 1-shot as light, so you wont get further than this)
once the item is in use and can actually protect you, heavies are more often than not already down to 100 hp by then (everyone else likely dead)
after which the light can just walk around barricades/goo, wait out a dome shield, killing you once its gone or even just run in and burst you down

dying should not be this uninteractive for the victim, and kills not this easy for the user

i think stun gun should disallow gadgets and instead allow specializations
those are way more reactive, allowing for actual timely counterplay
almost every single one of them can aid in your survival (so it doesn't force you to waste a slot for it, unlike gadgets)
and they would likely be strong enough to at least make survival decently likely

The only way a light can save themselves is with a goo, and that's if they're even lucky enough to get it off in time, not like it's not already harder to use it to since the goo nerf. There should be counters to a class or build, but not outright destroyers to one if that makes sense. Also, plus one to the Weapon Mastery Skin, this would be fantastic for people who are willing to grind but aren't one for Ranked. This, world tour, LFG modes and special contracts plus sponsors? Boom casuals are ecstatic hell even ranked players too

I defend almost everything about the game, but Visual Recoil has got to go (the bullets always coming from center of screen). It serves no purpose towards immersion, does not make anyone's game feel or play better, literally nobody likes it or wants it, and the only actual effect is that it makes 3rd party crosshairs an advantage. Bullets should just shoot from wherever the sights are pointed at. The sights can have as much recoil as needed, but if the bullet travels from the sights, it's at least fair game. The worst thing about it is that it makes people think the game is worse on a technical level, because the bullets are not hitting where the sights are on -- it just makes it seems like the gunplay is wonky, the game is having no-reg's, or the servers are just bad in general. No party in benefits from having visual recoil -- neither the players nor Embark.

No, no, no. Role queue was a bandaid fix because they couldn't just nerf tanks properly. The game fell off when they added role queue because it still had balancing problems and just less play variety. And queuing was slower.

You can make Light better by buffing their gadgets/specs/weapons and maybe even changing fundamental elements of the game to better accommodate them. For example -- not that this is required -- they could make them revive faster and Heavies revive slower. Or defib could revive with exactly 100 HP no matter what class you are (better for Light, worse for the other two).

Light doesn't need a buff.

Light is the least winning class because the overwhelming majority of players who choose Light are bad players. Bad players choose Light because they don't want to play the objective, they want either to snipe or focus on kills, and most of the time are trash at both.

Great players choose Medium and Heavy because they have the most strategically and tactically beneficial gadgets to support the team.

Light players complain about the 1887 killing them quickly when the TTK is the same as the Pike or FAMAS, it's just interpreted as less because it's only two shots.

Nerfing weapons won't help bad players become better, it will just make the game more difficult for the top 10%. You might see "some" increase in TTK with nerfs, but realistically as long as poor players choose Light, Light will continue to lose.

Dear Embark,

Please don't listen to the bad players who are crying for weapon nerfs. The problem isn't the weapon, the problem is the players.

There should be a harsher punishment for people who choose to leave wt and ranked. No punishment if they were disconnected. But I keep getting into WT or ranked and the second we start doing bad a teammate leaves. And it ruins the rest of the match.

Embark I am begging on my knees- please give us more gadgets and specializations, weapons are nice but they don't freshin up the game nearly as much as new gadgets and specializations do, they don't give us that whimiscal feeling of something new and magical, new weapons give us this feeling of "Oh that's cool" or "That's gonna be busted" but new gadgets and specializations are the key to hype and making people excited for the new season, they freshin up the game play loop and add creative solutions to problems we face in the arena beyond "I'mma shoot em" and I would love to see new gadgets and specializations being added in much greater bulk than we've seen in Season 3 and Season 4.

i haven't played ranked much this whole season. I don't want to be stressed out by constant sever issues and possibly be suspended due to terrible server connection.
All of s4 have been terrible server issues. Being forced to exit and launch game just to connect to every new round, ghost connections, waiting minutes for an error code to pop up, getting random black loading screen in-game and then be pulled out of the current said-game and then be pushed into an entire lobby with new teammates. These server issues are unacceptable

@river magnet Bro, Model is a literal instant kill against Light in melee range, and it allows full mobility and full accuracy to still do 128 damage at range. Pike and FAMAS don't one-shot Light, let alone two-shot unless you're standing still and hit headshots... and Model doesn't need to do EITHER of those two things. Not to mention it being burst damage.

Medium and Heavy are overused and Model is overused. You could see both of these in the official tournament recently. Light's low winrate is not because "erm most players are bad." It's because Light has a high, above-average skill floor yet provides almost nothing that the other classes can't, even at top-level play. The main thing they do is flank and kill quickly. Guess what Demat + Model/Revolver can do while defibbing and providing team-wide mobility? Guess what Deagles can do while busting through walls and sitting behind shields?

Even if we ASSUME the "the problem is the players," how do you propose we get Model to not be used like 50% of the time? Wait another entire year and see if it just magically stops being overused by then? You'd rather frustrate the majority of the community who wants it nerfed just so you the minority don't have to cope?

Model needs a nerf. Period. Doesn't have to be huge. 120 damage instead of 128 is probably all it needs. But it needs it.

@bitter iris You are completely ignoring the part where OW2 is 5v5 and they made the tanks super buffy to compensate. No shit they kept role queue -- they designed OW2 with it in mind. And no shit DPS aren't used in OW2's open queue.

DPS WERE used in OW1 even during GOATS meta, because they had utility over tanks sometimes. All they had to do was nerf tanks, and they arbitrarily restricted the number of them instead.

I think the constant nerfing of weapon damage and recoil has hurt the overall enjoyability of this game.

We need to build up the lesser weapons instead of tearing down the weapons and gadgets that actually feel good and fun to use.

Keep balancing for the "competitive" side of the community and it'll slowly erode everything good.

Let's just assume you're trying to argue in good faith instead of insulting an entire portion of the player base. In that case lights need a buff to their viability, whether that is more gadgets that help them defend the cashout or help out their teammates. Or even just some more health.

Like I said, we can buff some items including M ones. I want CL-40 to do 105 dmg. I want FCAR to do 23. I want Explosive Mine to do 125. I even want Pike to do 50 again, just with a slower firerate, slower reload, etc. But that doesn't change the fact Model needs a nerf.

You think Lights whine for nothing? Embark stated their winrates were low and then nerfed their weapons multiple times in the same damn update. And then in subsequent updates after that, too.

You say yourself Medium is the most "strategically valuable" -- do you not see this is just another way to say they're OP? They provide the most value. They have good area denial, good survivability and mobility, and great TTKs -- so no wonder people want the class most dedicated to damaging people to at least perform equally well?

@bitter iris Good Lord, man, do you really think that is what every team played throughout all of GOATS meta? They mixed it up. I was there. I was fucking Grandmaster. Roadhog sometimes had better damage potential, Ana had better healing potential, etc. And DPS sometimes came in handy for picking off healers, mostly snipers and divers. They could have fixed goats by, again, nerfing some tanks, adding a negative tank passive, or even buffing tankbusters like Junkrat or Reaper. They instead added role queue as a bandaid fix to Overwatch 1 and then just stuck with that design for OW2. I'm not saying OW2 used it as a bandaid fix, I'm saying OW1 did. Get a grip. Role queue would kill The Finals.

pyro nades need to do more damage on direct impact and more tick damage. throwing a fire nade on someone directly, for 24 damage (i don't even know how this happens because it's suppose to be 40) and 3 tick damage when a flame thrower can kill me with tick damage after being burned directly for 1 second. but I wholey agree, the radius needs to be bigger. What's the point of using them as a denial tool when people can just walk through them because they do no damage, or even stand in them for 6+ seconds to steal.

It isn't that Light doesn't perform well because of balance issues.

The problem with Light not performing well are the dogshit players who choose Light and then get upset when they stand in the open and get shot.

The probelm is not with weapon balance, the problem is with poor players.

EDITED to add: If you watch youtube vids or vids in this server of Light players complaining about getting trashed by the 1887 you will see every single time they are within 1887s optimal attack range. They're too close to the 1887 players. They are dying to the 1887 because they are too stupid to learn how to counter it.

"The Problem With Light" isn't balance, it's terrible players skewing statistics.

EDIT 2: Regarding cashout firefights often being indoors - Light has C4 and access to explosive barrels / canisters. Destroy the building around them, grenade spam them to death, pick them off, and then move in. None of these things are impossible to do if you can keep your wits about you during a match.

EDIT 3: If you are a team of 3 Lights you better be damn good because the class is unforgiving. The problem with teams of 3 lights is most of the time the players who choose an all-Light team do so because they are bad players and don't think about balancing the team. let teams choose where they spawn on a map overlay. ban spawns within 35 meters of cashout. within 70 meters of cash, make teams emit a giant beam into the sky of where they spawned and with a loud audio cue. past 70, have only the audio cue be very loud but not the beam. past like 150 make no noise and no beam. Have teams spawn in with a defib animation anywhere they pick but the closer they are the slower the animation. like im talking if you spawn 36 meters away per my rules you gotta show a beam, have june and scotty yell it into the arena, have a giant audio cue and also have you spawn for like 5 or so seconds. lots of values to adjust but the agency over spawn location will make alot of teams happier.

That's half the picture. Yes, of the 3 classes, Light has the highest skill floor and demands the most effort to do well with. But they also don't reward well enough for how much skill they take. No matter how good your aim or movement is, you will almost certainly do better with Medium or Heavy. Because they can kill just as quickly while also providing mobility/heals/defibs/traps/demat or shields/barriers/traps/destruction/winches.

Light is underperforming because of bad game design/balance. Period.

You see, Embark needs player numbers and money, but can't be bothered to fix or add content more consistently. So they made the game grindier hoping to develop an unhealthy psychological affliction like "anxiety" to keep you playing -- maybe even pay money -- even when the game is not really that fun anymore. @jagged vector As we discussed in many replies already, Light does not run well enough or gun well enough to make them relevant in the meta. It's not "the playerbase's fault" that Light underperforms. Medium can kill just as fast and can arguably run away even better than Light can sometimes considering Demat, Jumppad, and Zip.

V @half python TTK is mostly fine for most weapons. A few weapons have too fast of TTKs. Everything else you said is valid though

Last time I played this game was a little under a year ago and it seems that nothing has changed other than skins and battlepass shit. The balancing in this game is the worst I've seen, the heavy class dominates everything else with no competition, low level players are almost always put on the same team, time to kill is absurdly high (mostly for killing heavies), you spawn 15 miles away from where you need to be, among other things. How this game still has an active playerbase and positive reviews is beyond me. The concept is great, the gunplay is great, the graphics are great, the destruction is great, the balancing and matchmaking are shit. I know I'm not alone in this as all my friends who've played have had the same thoughts and don't play anymore. I saw these same criticisms a year ago, and nothing has changed. Chalk it up to a skill issue all you want but a class shouldn't have more health AND more damage with the only drawback being slightly decreased movement speed

Light thats work with a team are invaluable. they can get the plugs which is the current meta. as well as finish off and get the picks that run from your slower teammates. individually yes they are garbage in comparison but when you focus on the main point of the game which is to work with your team they can be the backbone of the team.

@jagged vector Plugs help during knockout rounds, but... They don't guarantee wins, and they don't apply to final rounds at all. Plus Medium is pretty good at plugging just by themselves with Demat+Jump+Zip.

Faster running and evasive dashing helps pick off runners, yes, but so does dematerializing or charging through walls. And @jagged vector, like I said, Medium can get away even better than Light in some circumstances with Demat+Jump+Zip and having 100 extra HP to work with. (Invis is dogshit btw. it's not true invis. it makes very obvious noises that give you away easily, too. don't pretend that's a Light strength)

So of the two Light strengths you listed, I wouldn't honestly say either of them are done well enough to necessitate Light in place of another Medium. And again, the other classes barely do any less DPS than Light. Hence why the meta involves zero Lights lol. It's not a "sKiLl iSsUe" when the majority of the playerbase thinks and plays like this.

And what's wrong with 5v5 cashout? New 5v5 mode for casual fun that doesn't involve triple party fights, and it actually makes use of the cashouts.

@cunning locust role queue would kill this game overnight. ask for better balancing instead.

How many times do we have to repeat it for those in the back? Look at the stats. Look at the official tournaments. MODEL AND DEFIB ARE OVERUSED. Period! You just said it your self “some circumstances” lights invis has to make sound or else you can’t see them or even know where they are. There has to be a counter of that and that’s literally the only counter. The only way to counter in this is to play as a I light because they have thermal if they were to remove the sound then they need to bring back radar senses, but make it as if it’s like a lights sonar grenade not the way it was before because seeing through walls and stuff is overpowered obviously and a straight broken. I also agree with the other guy that yeah by themselves lights aren’t that good. They aren’t gonna win a 1v2 but if they were together as a team, they will win. The lights have really powerful weapons and they have a good kit. They’re the recon. They are not supposed to be running gunning they do damage they run away or they scan. And for other abilities, grapple and stun they totally are good abilities If you’re in a sticky situation, you can just grapple away or stun them. The stun gun is literally a free kill. You can’t do anything against stun gun. And it is a skill issue if you’re not playing lights as they intended to be played. And I think the player base isn’t saying that the lights are so weak I think it’s more so that medium needs a Nerf with the shotgun and the D fib which I agree because it is annoying to go against triple medium with those things.

Medium is the healer they’re the support. I think that they should keep the D fibs the way they are, but if you’re a medium and rezed medium and you have Defibs you have a cool down before you can use them similar to as if you just revive somebody .

"Skills Issue" ain't the problem since i'm maining the Model too now as i'm forced too. The only thing killing me rn is Model users and lucky nades. I'm just completely done with being forced to use a weapon i don't enjoy playing with just to stay in high elo.

What makes Model OP?

  • You can deal 128 damage in 0,000 seconds, hide and evade damage by jumping around like a schoolgirl and repeat this untill your opp is dead. By the time you finish off your target he will never have done as much damage to you or it has to be a CL or another Model user. There is no other weapon (but CL) which you could do this with. It does 1/4th more damage than an RPG. And it's almost impossible to lose a 1v1 except perhaps from a double barrel or sword user if played well.
    (aka: 1v1's aren't about skill anymore but who starts firing his model first.)
  • It's the ULTIMATE third party weapon as you just let em fight and go in when all opponents are damaged so you can literally 3-hit a whole squad or what's left of em. Even if all 3 start beaming you, you can at least finish off 2 players so your team can very much do the rest.
    If you all go in together no one stands a chance as one's reaction time will Always be slower than the TTK it has. Especially in this steal and plug tripple M defib meta this game became. AKA: Luck > Skill
  • In engaging fresh teams you just let your other teammates go in, support (heal) them and once slightly damaged pull out your Model and again, ONE HIT everyone.
  • Model is a very agressive weapon so combining it with the supportive gadgets and medium spec is completely unbalanced.

SO: lowering the damage so it wouldn't 2-hit mediums would solve a lot already, but IMO? The Model 1887 should be switched with the KS-23 (heavy shotgun) cuz the skill ceiling on that one is way higher and acts more as a support weapon.

EDIT: Also "vocal minority" ? my dearest are you living under a rock?

I'm not saying invis should be totally silent. I'm saying it should be totally invisible, though it would need rebalancing in other departments to make it fair. Regardless, it remains unreliable in its current state because it can be seen. Also, glitch traps and grenades and damage reveals them, not just thermal vision.

Like I said, Light does not do enough DPS to make the "hit" in "hit and run" work often. Medium and Heavy both have multiple weapons that delete Light in 2 to 3 shots. And then they can chase Light around or through walls.

But yes, nerfing Medium and Heavy a bit would help Light by comparison.

I think that that would be an okay Defib nerf, but I think it'd be better to be able to destroy the holograms through damage or glitching.

Soooo true! I think the fact that the majority of cashouts (aka objectives) are close quarter focussed or indoors, which favours cqb weapons, caused it all.
I loved the time (aka S1+2) before all that. Now most of the time it's just randomness over skill. Especially with this steal and plug meta and the dumb spawn locations. I don't understand how its fun to wait at cashouts to 1-shot them w model. Or taser/glitch trap/winch claw ppl, plug the box in and run.
I miss when it was actually about defending cashouts so you could clutch and throw good plays battle-wise. Skills ruled over luck back then which drew me to this game in the first place. 💔

Please fix the cash given towards the Deep Pockets trophy on Playstation 5. I win games on Power Shift but the cash amounts I earn from wins doesn't actually change the percentage of me being closer to the trophy unless I play any other mode. Power shift cash in general doesn't count. The cash awarded in game on Power Shift changes my stats on my profile but doesn't count towards the challenges with money in weeklys.

M11 is a major outlier and totally negates the XP54, which is fine. It’s far too easy to spray with for the value it provides and I’d rather keep the spray potential so as to differentiate it from the XP. Desired power level of weapons should be closer to the XP.

RPG doing 100 damage is far too excessive for how easy it is to use. It’s a must-pick. The devs just stated they intended it for destruction, not damage, yet it’s still a fight initiator due to its damage.

Demat totally nullifies fortifications and is far too spammable.

Turret sucks at high levels but those changes are a net nerf to address its frustration factor, especially for noobs.

M11 is an outlier compared to all weapons it’s competing with - XP, 93R, V9S, Knives, Matter, SH1900, Sword, Dagger - not just the XP. It nullifies them all in 85% of scenarios. They nerfed the XP due it dominating in exactly the same way, reverting that would be braindead. When one of its competitors - Throwing Knives - was buffed to a similar level the entire fanbase was rabid for nerfs. The power level is too high and must be brought down.

You think the turret shouldn’t be buffed, it’s clear what rung of the skill ladder you are on 📉 I suggested the changes to it I did for players like you.

I disagree with like half of these, but more importantly, you are asking for way too many changes and way too complex ones. Take one thing at a time. Ask to reduce CnS damage, not give it a weird rampup system and nerf its damage. Try reducing the stun gun speed penalty, not also making it just go away after 75 damage before you even know how well it performs with the speed change.

Also can't tell if you're trying to buff or nerf with some of these like Winch Claw.

You would shake up the meta entirely, but probably instantly create a new and maybe worse one.

It’s not hard to estimate how more than 1 change at the same time might turn out if you understand all of its uses, strengths, and weaknesses. Embark has done changes like this plenty of times. The vast majority of suggestions are just number changes too.

Some thing get both nerfs and buffs to address different aspects. Winch range is poor now and it hurt its utility, but the existence of frustrating, inescapable deaths persists because it reels players into immediate proximity.

Too many things have been nerfed dps fell a lot across every gun, it is fully difficult to even complete some challenges because it's not up to par with the skill of new players. Weapons don't kill i need to be able to kill to earn points and apart from being a skill issue on my part it is true the damage output is low. Stop nerfing and consider the opposite how about a buff on season 5 so much that i can enjoy the feeling i had for seasons 1 and 2.

I've been getting aimbot players more often than not and even blocking them makes them spawn the next game, I want them gone not until my next game.

The Goo Gun for heavy Is very underutilized and I really think this weapon could be more effective if it gotten a rework in a way that could make it more powerful in defense. THIS IS ALSO A ROUGH SKETCH IDEA. So take it with a grain of salt.

Goo Gun Rework

When using shooting the Goo Gun, the goo will have a shade of color to them representing your team or an enemy teams color depending on who shot it.

With this in mind, the goo that is shot from a Goo Gun will have 10% - 15% more health for more stability in defending.

When shooting at a player with movement, via Charge & Slam, Evasive Dash, Grapple Hook, etc. It will not stop the specializations ability, but instead slows them down drastically.

Nerfs and Buffs

+ When the goo is shot from the Goo Gun it will have a shade of color to it representing the team who shot it, making it easier to tell who its from and knowing that the goo will have more health.
+ When shooting goo at a player with movement specialization like Evasive Dash, Grapple Hook, and Charge & Slam, it will slow them down drastically.
+ Increase in goo health from 300 to 345 (15% increase) 
+ Increase in burn time from 12s to 16s (35% Increase)
+ Increase in lasting duration of 90s to 115s (27.5% Increase)

- When shooting goo at a player with movement specialization like Evasive Dash, Grapple Hook, and Charge & Slam, it will not stop the animation and it's effects.
- Decrease in length size when connected from 15 to 12 (20% Decrease)

Please buff the dual blades. I suggest removing the 50/50,60/60,70 combo and replacing it with flat 55/55 damage slashes, it fixes the light and heavy breakpoints without touching medium ttk (Which is fine though struggles with Model). And or improve the swing speed by 5-15% to decrease the ttk. Having to have to cancel or miss the first swing on a light is annoying at best and pretty impractical to get a reasonable ttk against one of the most mobile classes in the game

Love getting to the second round of WT as a gold 4 and the entire lobby getting pub stopped by some bitchless loser named rfake6 and his fucking support team. Literally nobody else cashed out how is that enjoyable in the fucking slightest yall need to figure out the fucking matchmaking. Also love getting to the next game just for the servers to fucking die and everyone damn near frozen in fucking place for over 2 minutes yall are fucking ridiculous. Fucking don't get me started on how if you get into a ranked or WT match 99% of the time any random teammate just disconnects but for some fucking reason the half brains running this shit havnt made it so you can also then leave without being punished. The balancing between LMH is actually soooo fucking garbage heavy shouldn't have multiple no skill weapons (FUCKING SPINNY STICK AND FUCKING FLAME FUCK) that can almost guarantee an instant kill to a light who's been caught of gaurd in a house. the "interrupt 10 steals" challenge is uniquely frustrating due to being almost entirely reliant on other people to complete. Challenges like "deal x damage with y weapon" or "hit 30 headshots from z distance" are influenced by other players, sure, but whether or not you make progress on it is entirely dependent on you. You can choose to run that weapon, or play at that distance. But with the "interrupt 10 steals" challenge, it is dependent on 1) your team being coordinated enough to either start or steal a cashout 2) being uncoordinated enough to allow a steal attempt 3) the enemy teams have to be coordinated enough to have a player attempt a steal 4) but also uncoordiated enough to allow the stealer to get hit by a stun gun/winch claw/one hit kill weapon 5) your teammates not killing said stealer before you can intterupt 6) the stealer not letting go just before you hit them because they heard a sound queue or something. In addition to all of this, an interrupt only counts if your actions make them inable to steal, not just if they stop because of your actions. This means that the only ways to get an interrupt are stun gun, winch claw, or killing them before they let go. But most people aren't gonna just sit there and hold e to steal while under fire, they are going to stop stealing and join the fight to secure the area. Which means that the most effective way to steal is by being a rat, sitting in a corner bating your team, so you can have an attempt to hit the stealer with a stun gun. And I think that makes this challenge not fun, not fair, and lowers the quality of matches where people are attempting this, which makes the game worse for everybody

100,000 EXP is not a good amount at all! Dailies just give too little; if it weren't for the circuit contracts, it would be extremely hard to finish.

I think the lack of a grenade indicator is what makes this game a little unique. Logistically speaking. if someone throws a grenade in a dark room. Would you know exactly where it was and have the confidence to throw it back with the idea in your mind that it could blow up any second. That’s just my theory on why maybe they also didn’t add it. Because I’m a real life scenario I feel not every man would know where this grenade is.

You can hear the nade, you can see the nade if you're paying attention, plus your teammates scream "GRENADE INCOMING". Twice is not an issue. It's barely zone denial as it explodes in 3 seconds and is gone. Arguably the gas grenade and pyro are more zone denial than frag. you're probably just not paying attention closely enough. I have been killed by a frag twice lately and only on power shift because it's a small platform that I don't mind dying on. Plus they have lit fuses that are burning that sparkle on the ground. Very apparent. Plus if you're going up to a cash box, with SKILL LEVEL you're already aware that they're going to all nade it twice. 4 booms and it's done. If you don't want to die to a frag, don't chase people up entire staircases or camp corners.

I think what you're doing is: "Thing killed me! I'm literally perfect with no room for improvement it's the games fault!" "Class killed me nerf it!" "Gun killed me, I'm literally invincible so there's no way I played wrong, nerf it!" "WHY am I dying to things with obvious tells?! I should have a little quest marker with a dotted line, treasure map and arrow and neon signs pointing out dangers to me so I NEVER DIE because I'm just so good that I should never be dying!" xp per round should really be increased by some capacity - maybe even depending on what level you are at the moment (like a 1-100% bonus on round xp)

This would be very helpful as your progress will progressively get slower the more you unlock - Up to a point where you're literally unable to progress further if you already did everything but couldnt play for a certain duration in the past of the battlepass for example

All I’m stating is that’s why they possibly didn’t add it. And I said that’s what gives it a little charm to the game? Also sure we can go to the argument of that we should add it or we shouldn’t but it doesn’t matter. If they do add it I would speculate that kills for grenade would drop dramatically unless they maybe allowed the player to cook up the grenade a little. Because if they just added straight up an indicator and that’s it. Then I wouldn’t doubt kills for grenade would be impossible, and just having a grenade in your load out is throwing a slot away. Every game that I’ve played that has an indicator I and my friends rarely got killed and kills with grenade. TLDR grenade indicators are dumb idea for this game in my opinion. Ps hope this didn’t come off as rude.

They would make great additional non-time-limited challenges that could be completed at your own leisure, but are rather annoying for casual players who just want to unlock rewards and level up

That's fair but grenades in their current state are too strong.
Maybe a stronger audio indicator like in CS can help but not ruin the grenade.
Or maybe something else can be done about them.
In ranked there's 3 mediums with 6 nades running around. Nades only have 20 second cooldown too so it just rains nades constantly and do 149 damage.
Even if MMM isn't strong anymore in the future M and L will still carry nades, so usually you'll still have 4 nades.
And for your ps you're all good haha

they need to make it like if the match at 1min left and ur team is respawn and one min left on the match then the spawn should be max 150m away and IF YOU 30% away points from the top 2 team then your spawn place is cloeser by lets say 50% so its compattive game play if the cash is very close between top 3 and 2 then if top 3 spawn last min then it have to be spawn close to them on how much cash they have so ppl know how the spawn work on last min

I have just gotten shit on by a KS-23 and SH1900, and then 2 minutes later shit on the people with the KS-23 and SH1900 with the AKM (I think the balance with shotguns are actually pretty nice rn)

great game. But when you have a cashout and a third party comes in and you get wiped. If you spawn and still have the cashout due to the 2 teams fighting you shouldn’t spawn at the other cashout. You should be able you defend your cashout.

Just my opinion, I see how’d it’d continue 3rd party but the team that initiated the third party, should be punished not the depositing team.

@raw blaze KS-23 needs a small buff. SH1900 is strong but extremely committal and risky -- hasn't proven to be a huge issue yet. Model is definitely OP and needs 8 or 16 less damage if it's going to retain such a tight spread and allow melees to continue being interwoven between shots without interrupting the RoF at all.

Matter is perfectly fine.

SA12 is meta at top tier play but is also low-range and very committal. It contends with and is arguably often outclassed by Deagles.

You know what really makes me not want to play a game? When a game doesn't respect my time and effort.

This entire season has felt like one endless grind-a-thon and I didn't even do a grind for Emerald or Diamond. The slow fan acclimation early on made the entire progress bar feel slow and pointless. The 100,000 XP levels on the extra Battlepass feel so unnecessary for a game I'm already putting plenty of time into. Not to mention certain weeklies existing that only count when I do it and not as a team just to pace out how long I'm doing stuff for.

I hated the grind this season. Please don't make it this grindy again.

I agree, stop nerfing heavys, ya'll need to start nerfing some aspects of Lights like weapon damage with especially the M11.

The lights just can't really be played well in ranked matches, they can't defend the cashouts well, they get third partied or third party people waaaaaaay to often, I think the lights just need to get the stats changed, there also isn't really more than one way to play lights other than assasin or sniper, andthat really bugs me.

Edit: I think a role as a trapper would be cool, like the light could lay down beartraps or something

It would be awesome if in future battle passes, we could get single colored cosmetics of varying colors. Right now there’s a larrrggee majority of black and white with maybe a color accent, at least ones you can get from the battlepass.

You could also do bundles with like 7 pants of the same design but different colors (like ROYGBIV colors), itd make it much easier to make fun contestant outfits with the added options.

The Goo Gun for heavy Is very underutilized and I really think this weapon could be more effective if it gotten a rework in a way that could make it more powerful in defense. THIS IS ALSO A ROUGH SKETCH IDEA. So take it with a grain of salt.

Goo Gun Rework

When using shooting the Goo Gun, the goo will have a shade of color to them representing your team or an enemy teams color depending on who shot it.

With this in mind, the goo that is shot from a Goo Gun will have 10% - 15% more health for more stability in defending.

When shooting at a player with movement, via Charge & Slam, Evasive Dash, Grapple Hook, etc. It will not stop the specializations ability, but instead slows them down drastically.

Nerfs and Buffs

+ When the goo is shot from the Goo Gun it will have a shade of color to it representing the team who shot it, making it easier to tell who its from and knowing that the goo will have more health.
+ When shooting goo at a player with movement specialization like Evasive Dash, Grapple Hook, and Charge & Slam, it will slow them down drastically.
+ Increase in goo health from 300 to 345 (15% increase) 
+ Increase in burn time from 12s to 16s (35% Increase)

They just often don't hit hard enough, don't live long enough to run, and/or don't run well enough compared to Medium, who already has sufficient TTK and has Defib, team-wide mobility, and Dematerializer/Healing Beam.

Cloaking device needs a de-cloak time. Like 1 or 1.5 seconds animation after it de-cloaks itself, so that a person can actually have some time to react, in the middle of a battle. Even 0.5 sec would do fine.

And its dumb that they get to use their gun, as in, aim and all, while theyre cloaked. There the person most probably cant see the cloaked light when its having an intense battle (protecting/stealing cashouts) and the cloaked light is having all the time to aim at the head (figure of speech).

It should be like Reyna's ult Dismiss in valorant, u know, where she goes invis.

The whole point of cloak should be to get away or sneak past ppl.

Can we please get a system that allows you to search for multiple regions at once. The single region search is actively causing smaller regions to be so dead in certain gamemodes, because everyone just switches to regions with more players.
Why not do the same? because the ping is so awful. To play world tour i have to be searching Asia region on 180-300 ping which feels awful. Literally cannot find a match in Oceania, unless its powershift or quick cash.

I cant send a side to side comparison but the new inverted setting for flash bangs is a nerf, when you get indirectly flashed you can see less when its inverted as your screen gets darker, while when its bright you still have viability to some extent. M11 nullifies all of its competitors and I think it’s healthy for the game to reduce damage levels across the board.

Charge n Slam needs good damage for the trade off of putting away your weapon. Pointblank charges would do 60 less damage than they currently do & hitting one guy multiple times would be much less effective.

Little point in using RPG for destruction when it does 100 damage and has a 45s cooldown. It’s still a fight initiator.

Health regen is excessively long and contributes to the reliance on Healing Beam. It takes a Heavy 18 seconds to go from low HP to full. It’s crazy.

@lime lichen it totally nullifies fortifications with little effort and is highly spammable. It was always great but they’ve increased the size of the holes massively to account for it failing to carve through multiple layers. No reason for those holes to last 30 seconds.

I'm not going to mention that the Model needs to be nerfed; I'm going a step further: what is the point of giving this weapon to a class that has good HP and great mobility? It adds to the fact that there is no recoil penalty on the weapon; it is always steady, regardless of whether you're walking, running, jumping, or doing 70 backflips... weapons like this, as they are currently built for a Medium class with the characteristics described above, make zero sense.

Light got the XP nerf to do the same damage as the M11 but with lower rpm and less bullets so everyone switch to the M11 (faster and more bullets).
Now you wanna nerf the M11 damage ? When to be effective you have to be in CQC and so take a lot of dmg to maybe one kill ? And probably die in a frame.
Nerf the M11 right now is pointless. Light are just taking nerf and nerf on every weapons without logic. Light struggles to fit into the meta because of its innate health disparity. To address that you’d need game-wide changes to accompany it.

LH1 is still great and most of its options are still good. M11 is the outlier compared to its many competitors. We saw Throwing Knives buffed to a comparative level and the player base had a meltdown.

Having Light be a glass cannon sucks both for the Light - which cannot play OBJ like the other classes - and for those playing against Light, which is why casuals hate it and think it’s OP.

As we can all see, THE FINALS' community is deeply passionate when it comes to concept art and making drip. Earlier this year we saw the switch away from exclusive bundle pricing to individual items now being made available for purchase. This alone allowed a great amount of customisation and personalisation of the game. But @shy token is back this time to argue the case for community driven input.

By allowing the community to create fan-made concepts and outfits using available items, TF has allowed its community to creatively flourish. However, we think, and there are others who have considered this idea as well within the community, that new community made items should be given the chance to be official and in-game.

This would not be the first time that such a thing exists in the world of gaming. Warframe's 'TennoGen' is one of the best examples of having the community be involved in the creative process. This engagement's potential is virtually limitless and invaluable for the game's longevity and community. It can be further sustained by giving the creator(s) a chance to be awarded through a variety of ways, in combination or merely by themselves:
(a) recognition,
(b) in-game or IRL payment,
(c) but most importantly a free (perhaps personalised) version of the very same item that will be immortalised in the world of TF.

Maybe try making glitch nades and barrels glitch dead player trophies, preventing revives for a time. And let people say no if they get hit with a defib that's just going to get them killed instantly. That or remove defibs and rework spawn mechanics to keep the pace of the game up.

I would prefer removal because 50% of my hate on that gadget is due to my team using it on me in a way that just guarantees another instant death.

It's also so OP that it's not even optional for a medium trying to be the most effective. This is how RPG felt for heavy and glitch felt for light. Over time you guys have made changes that free up those slots for other options but rpg and glitch are still good.

I dont see how you can do that for defibs because a free revive is always a free revive. It's too powerful no matter how you change it, it seems so far.

Would like to see a "Menu Soundtrack" changer for all the seasons we've had so far. It would be nice to be able to set the music from S1-S3 as an option kind of like in Apex Legends. I miss the S1 music and would love to be able to use it at will.

Also, defib should have a short cooldown after someone gets rezzed by the defib ability.

Also, sword lunge hitbox/length nerf really did some bad for the weapon. Please revert either the hitbox or lunge distance, but not both.

I assume Embark knows this, but the model is in a really strong position. Most of the time it’s better to buff other weapons, but with the model I think it needs a small nerf alongside buffs to other weapons to have it feel balanced.

Medium need it, if a different team suddenly attack you while in the range of close comba they can out speed revolver shooting time. Example heavy with flame thrower charge in behind you without you know, how are you fight him properly they just hold the fire button and jumping and dodging while you need to ads +you got slow reduction movement speed. Other example light with dash and m11 in close range with you that don’t need to use ads because the bullet hip fire is better then revolver. I already know every weakness of the revolver because I use it every time (main revolver) and their weakness is suddent CQC because when you are panic your aim become more shitty

whoever is ""optimizing"" the game right now is an insider mole from EA trying to sabotage the game. Incredible to witness. This is the worst patch yet, and surpassed the alien one. Revert the game to it's pre alien skin update state and get rid of the mole. Leave the actual game alone until you have enough time dedicated to proper testing to push out these kind of changes. These are incremental changes that people might not notice and they'll start quiet quitting.

A problem for one of my friends is lag. He uses an old pc and is upgrading soon but it lags a lot when building break and a large amount of players die. I think a good suggestion would be to add a setting that minimalists the particle effects made by these interactions. For example, if you had this setting on and you got an elimination, only about half of the particles would be spawned.

If you can move your character and get within 10m of someone the SA is a monster. It has freedom of movement that Lewis doesn’t, which gives them a comparable difficulty to get value from. It’s embarrassing that you think that thing is hard to use.

Medium is meta as a class because it has the only source of healing and the only direct sustain gadget in the game. Triple medium is meta because its weaknesses go unchecked due to certain primary weapons.

How to fix MMM? Nerf model

How to fix M being a must pick? Give weaker healing/sustain gadgets to light and heavy.

How to ruin the strength of a class and nerf it down to generic battlefield soldier? Nerf defib before medium gets more support gadgets.

@upper citrus I think Defib being a must bring is an issue. Even Gateway and RPG aren't as big of must-brings as Defib is.

I agree Medium is the support class, but their support is too strong given they still have great weapons. Light's hit and run game is too weak. Heavy's area and cover control is fine, they primarily just need less range on Deagles and less burst damage on CnS.

If Defib only resurrected to 100 HP, it would buff L and still be useful for reviving M and H in a pinch. If the holograms could be destroyed with damage or glitching, again, it would still be useful in a pinch.

Think about using Defib on a teammate as doing healing. Now imagine the healing output versus damage output. Defib can instantly heal 175 HP in under a second, plus provide invincibility, all while moving around erratically. There's no real counterplay to someone running in and getting a defib off. Even if you could shoot or glitch the hologram, doing so demands you take attention away from the Medium for a moment, which allows them to shoot back.

Glitch grenades destroying holograms would also be another L buff.

With all that being said, @clever hawk: M11 is balanced and Model deserves nerfs.

“Who are you” isn’t a literal question. My point is that you are a random nobody has heard of. Use common sense.

There is nothing wrong with the current maximum support output of medium. The ONLY reason it’s a must pick is because it’s the ONLY class with direct team sustain tools like healing beam and defib. These types of tools will ALWAYS be meta to an extent. Nerfing the existing ones before more are added is a stupid idea that will lead to medium taking even more of a duelist role in meta team comps, which is objectively a bad thing in terms of giving classes unique identities and roles in the meta.

I agree that “waiting for embark to add these things” is extremely hopeful and takes forever but I’d much rather advocate for the best path to good balancing rather than advocate for short term bandaid fixes that will create more problems down the line. Nerf defib once medium gets more support gadgets. There’s nothing wrong with defib right now. Just as there wasn’t anything wrong with defib in 2.6 when fcar was nerfed and people thought AKM was the best weapon. Nobody complained about medium then even though its support tools were over twice as strong.

If you (the devs) next season don't fix all this, this game will die. I LOVED this game so much and i miss season 1/2. This whole game has changed and now every fucking game is legit the same! There is no tactics or strategy anymore. It just is Triple Medium, Defib with Models and its honestly INSANE. the game is starting to feel like a fucking drought playing. After one game my whole mood playing this game is completely gone...

The steal and plug meta is HORRIBLE. People are not playing the finals anymore it just is steal it, plug it, next one steal it plug it and then fight over one cash out on the cash out with two parties fighting already. Where back in the day ALL this was not a problem. Our team has the most kills almost every game but still we lose so much games just because the steal and plug meta is horrible. Im literally on the verge of uninstalling this game because of every game just being the same. The model is AT LEAST 40-50% used in EVERY game, if this is what you guys call 'balancing'. This alone is a sign that this gun needs a NERF!!!

There is 0 fun to it only way to counter the triple M, Model meta is to play it yourself but honestly i don't even like to play with shotguns. Then the matchmaking is SO TRASH, Every game if i Duo Q and there is a random. he can't play the game. Please buff the dual blades. I suggest removing the 50/50,60/60,70 combo and replacing it with flat 55/55 damage slashes, it fixes the light and heavy breakpoints without touching medium ttk (Which is fine though struggles with Model). And or improve the swing speed by 5-15% to decrease the ttk. Having to have to cancel or miss the first swing on a light is annoying at best and pretty impractical to get a reasonable ttk against one of the most mobile classes in the game

After giving Powershift a good try and playing it for about 20-30 games this season I have confirmed that I hate it a LOT. It is no fun for anyone other than snipers. The things that could remedy its flaws are so easy to implement i'm kind of sad they haven/t been. Please add higher walls or a plus shaped wall in the middle of the to give some actual cover so we don't have to always pick heavy with barricade mesh wall to counter the only meta that's been there for like 8 months.

It's stale and i'm sad that my favourite, and the most inventive mode is stale to me. Please please give the powershift platform some love.

Suggestions as a Powershift enjoyer and disliker:

-as said above, give the platform some love; add a ceiling, walls or a plus shaped wall structure to hide from grenades and mid-long range fire
-make the platform (and new, added walls) "dematerialisable" to give that spec a use. Every other spec has a use in that mode except Demat.
-make the platform move 2/3x faster than it does dependent on the number of people on it. don't stop the platform when an enemy gets on it, slow it down.

And Defib being a must-pick for every M in your team is an issue regardless of how many Mediums on your team (even 0) are meta to have.

I think what your video ignores is that Medium has other support gadgets, too, that are still useful: APS (could use a small buff), Glitch Trap, Gas Mine, Explosive Mine (again, could use a small buff), and mobility.

Either Defib needs to be brought down to these other gadgets' levels, or they need to be brought up to Defib. Because if something has a 100% pickrate, what is the point in even having the option to swap it out?

I’ve seen that video and it revolves around deconstructing MMM comp in season 4, which we’ve already been over.

The support output is far too much and reducing it is not a band-aid. Reducing disparity between classes is a good thing. As it is, the game trends towards horrible Overwatch-style restrictions that are a nightmare to balance. As we’ve seen with the absolute dominance of M and relative lack of existence of L. People don’t enjoy H shield spam nor M heal spam.

People have complained about M/Defib since before the game released. Casuals find Defib obnoxious - as the video acknowledges - which is another reason to reduce its influence.

Reduce both the maximum output of M’s support and its reliability (eg destructible holograms) and there can exist a meta without it. On an individual level, it being an absolute outlier is undeniable given its pickrate. There is so much room beneath it. The base health regen rate is egregious - 18 seconds for a H from low - and further incentivises support. You can chip away at this from multiple avenues. Movement tools being another.

There is no tactics or strategy anymore. It just is Triple Medium, Defib with Models and its honestly INSANE. the game is starting to feel like a fucking drought playing. People are not playing the finals anymore it just is steal it, plug it, next one steal it plug it and then fight over one cash out on the cash out with two parties fighting already. Where back in the day ALL this was not a problem. Our team has the most kills almost every game but still we lose so much games just because the steal and plug meta is horrible. Im literally on the verge of uninstalling this game because of every game just being the same. The model is AT LEAST 40-50% used in EVERY game, if this is what you guys call 'balancing'. This alone is a sign that this gun needs a NERF!!!

There is a difference between utility and support. Heal beam and defib both directly allow to keep teammates alive by keeping their HP up. Essentially anything that could be defined technically as “healing” is what I mean by support. Utility is everything else and is found on every class. We will never have a meta without healing tools unless they are absolutely nerfed into the ground, which is a bad idea because mediums identity should focus around having the strongest healing presence and team sustain.

Someone on your team will be required to take at least 1 healing tool in order for your team comp to be viable. There is no way around that, this has always been the case for any team based fps like this. It’s especially unavoidable in a game with player made loadouts where trade offs are even harder to enforce. Ex: you can’t give medium super strong weapons that can only be accessed if he’s not using healing beam and defib.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though, these healing tools are focused on teamplay and coordination. They are the exact kind of tools we should be looking for in a healthy meta. The only issue is that they only exist on the medium class, meaning that no meta will ever exist without medium.

The only healthy way to fix this is to add similar, but weaker healing/sustain gadgets onto light and heavy. Give heavy a healing station gadget that heals like 30hp/s in a small AOE with a 3s startup delay and 250 HP and a 40s cooldown. Then give light a stim pistol gadget that can be shot at teammates to instantly start their natural regen and can also be used on yourself. It should have a 45s cooldown and 2 charges.

Adding these and nerfing model would immediately remove medium from being a must pick. As you could sacrifice gadget slots on heavy and light for some form of team sustain. And lean harder into the combat strengths of heavy and light for your team comp. But medium would still be the best pick for keeping teammates alive, just not the only way to do so. This also opens up mediums other specs like demat to see more usage in the meta without requiring another medium on heal beam to be viable. And (once medium gets more gadgets) defib would no longer be a must pick on medium either as your team could have high sustain without it. But would still be a viable option. I do agree defib should be nerfed but only once medium gets more healing/sustain gadgets. In order to ensure you can’t make a medium build that keeps their team essentially invincible.

A bit of an essay but this is something I’m pretty passionate about. This is the only healthy way to fix the medium must pick issue in my eyes. It keeps the identity of the class in tact while adding more viable team comps and allows teams to choose who is in charge of the sustain tools on the team and how they want to use them. Does your team like playing defensively? Take a healing station and stick together. Offense, take quick cover and use lights stim pistol. Want the best of both worlds? Pick medium for flexible healing output.

Improve reliability of riot shield blocking - Riot shield has the potential to be a really cool utility weapon but falls short because blocking certain things can often feel like a dice roll.

Improve the accuracy and reliability of dual blade deflection - Same reasoning as riot shield, but with the addition of making the bullets easier to land on targets.

Agree 100%, I got a great nerf for the medium that makes the game balanced, if a three teams of medium bring defibrillator and there's one medium left, they can use one Defib, once that defibrillator is used the other teammate cannot use it they'd have to wait for the recharge, that way the defibrillator is fair and balance.

Because a lot of mediums don't use the defibrillator for tend uses, because I see a lot of three mediums bring defibrillator and they do it mid combat which becomes really annoying when they can have a big comeback with three defibrillators making the engagement unfair compared to other teams, especially like classes such as light and heavy.

The solo experience in World Tour is abysmal. I just played my first match and got two teammates who had basically never played The Finals before. When I tried to give them constructive help, they turned toxic and repeatedly suicided. Then they said they hope I never win a match. I couldn't get anywhere near the objectives as I was solo against full teams. Amazing experience.

Just to preface, I do not disagree with giving the other classes more supportive utility including healing. I agree that that is the healthiest way to continue diversifying teams (along with nerfing Defib). But I do want to settle a point of balancing.

Contrary to what you say, even with our current pool of specializations and gadgets, it is entirely possible to nerf Medium's utilities to the point where they are still useful but not required for a viable team. They don't have to be decisively either meta or completely useless. I can prove it

  1. Assume the utility was functional but insanely useless. Assume H. Beam only healed 5 HP/s. Assume Demat had one charge taking 30s to recharge. Assume G. Turret had 25 health. Assume Defib revived with 1 HP and stungunned the reviver and revivee. Etc. This shows you can have support utilities that are too weak to use in a team comp

  2. Assume the utility was insanely powerful. Assume e.g. that Healing Beam did 10,000 HP/s. This (as we can already tell a bit from S4 ) shows it's possible to have support utilities that are so strong, there is no way to not run them

  3. B/c there's a point in which support can be too weak to use, and because there is a point in which support can be too strong to not use, there necessarily must be a balanced point in which support provides value to a team to be worth using but not so much that other non-support options are invalidated. If e.g. H. Beam only healed 20 HP/s, you may be able to play in such a way that it can still help other teammates win a firefight while you yourself regenerate passively, but you may also be able to counter this by simply overwhelming the heal with dmg. (Not truly suggesting this nerf btw)

So in short, we could absolutely nerf M as a whole to the point where having one, two, or maybe even three is still useful at any skill level, but other team comps with 0 Mediums are also viable, provided they can outpace M's utilities

You could of course nerf them into the ground for the time being but that’s not going to make the game healthier. It might change the meta but the meta that takes its place would be lacking the team based utility and gameplay that makes this game so special. Contrary to popular belief, defib does have natural counterplay and weaknesses. It’s just completely removed by the existence of the model.

Medium as a whole is meant to be generally weaker than light and heavy in cqc, I think most people have come to agree on this. Well, just like 99% of medium, defib is super weak to cqc. You are spending almost an entire second of your time in a cqc fight to start a revive on a teammate, which 99% of the time will lead to your death as by the time you finish you will only be able to deal a small amount of damage before dying to the enemy right next to you. That leaves a mostly full HP enemy against your teammate who is having their revive camped and will respawn at 50% HP. An incredibly easy scenario for the enemy to win.

Why doesn’t this happen in game? It’s because of the model. You spend 1s defibbing your teammate and then turn to deal 128 instantly to the enemy right next to you. Then your defibbed teammate also has a model the enemy can no longer camp his hologram for a kill. The defibbed user is at an advantage before the fight has even started because he will be able to 1 tap the enemy if they’re a light or medium and 2 tap the enemy if they’re a heavy.

After patch 2.6, the public consensus was (incorrectly) that the AKM was the best weapon on medium. This lasted until around 3.0 and this period of the game is often referred to as the most balanced state of the game. MMM is a genuinely bad comp without model, as all triple stack comps should be. But they still had extremely strong team sustain and mid range damage output. Nobody complained about defib even though it was stronger. Nobody complained about healing beam even though it healed faster, for longer, from further.

Defib is only OP when combined with tools that break its weaknesses. It’s no coincidence that the defib hate has risen dramatically once the model meta was put in full swing.

To reiterate, I didn't suggest nerfing M "into the ground." I said you can nerf M to the point where they are still useful (and the game incentivizes teamwork). My argument is that both Model and Defib can be nerfed without making M useless.

I also feel it is important to distinguish M as a whole and Defib. Defib being a must-pick necessarily means it's OP individually, regardless of how powerful M themselves are. If M had a 1% pickrate but Defib had a 100% pickrate, that means Defib is OP. And in this sense, Defib has always been OP. There has never been a meta where M could choose to ditch Defib.

I think M is OP because of both Model and Defib (and maybe even Demat), and I think nerfing Defib would help both make M less common (not useless) and make Defib itself less common on M.

But it would also be nice to have more support gadgets on M and even on L and H, yes.

I think there needs to be a higher penalty for leaving ranked matches. Can we not impose a system where a leaver takes a percentage of the RS (like 50%) loss of the rest of the team? I understand this is trickier with teams queueing together to avoid matchboosting. But maybe if teamed the team that had the leaver shares the leaver penalty proportionally.

There is a huge difference between your initial post and the edit. Yes things like dual blades, 93r, spear, and grapple all need buffs. But they shouldn't be buffed to the point of completely changing the meta. All that means is that they are better than what we have now, and the meta is already dominated by items that are too strong or poorly designed rather than items that promote healthy playstyles and loadout commitments.

"Fixing" the current meta with buffs would inarguably lead to an even worse meta. Plenty of things need to be nerfed as well as buffed.

  1. Defib can be designed to be absolutely OP. This is self-evident. Seen in S1.
  2. Defib is OP right now because no Medium ever refuses to use it.
  3. Defib was nerfed in S2, yet it remains a must-pick. This shows an OP item can be nerfed and stay OP.
  4. Therefore, with points 1 to 3, it is possible to nerf Defib right now in a way that it remains OP.
  5. There is self-evidently a point where Defib could be made useless (e.g. killing the user and stunning the resurrected).
  6. Therefore, because of 1 and 5, there is a point where Defib is balanced.
  7. Therefore, with points 4 and 6, you can nerf Defib to the point where it is useful but not required.

You can't argue that "defib will always be meta" and "defib shouldn't be nerfed." This is a contradiction. Unless your reason for keeping it so strong is that that's your preferred design for the game, as opposed to your reason being to maintain balance between class and item pickrates.

Your points just arent true. Anything can be nerfed to be useless or buffed to be OP. That doesn't mean there is a middleground where the concept can be balanced in the current state of the game. Take recon senses. You could nerf recon senses to be 5m distance and last 1 second. It would be terrible. You could also buff it to be map wide and last 1 minute. That doesn't mean the concept of recon senses could have ever been balanced correctly unless the game was more designed around it.

Of course, recon senses was removed because even if we ever got to a point where the game was changed so much that it was somehow balanced, it wouldn't lead to fun gameplay. Thankfully this isn't really the case with defib (as seen from 2.6 - 3.0.) Defib being a must pick doesn't mean its overpowered, its literally only because its one of the only places you can get that type of support from, and medium also doesn't have many gadgets to choose from to begin with. Jump pad is another great example of this. Jump pad is inarguably a must pick gadget. Is it op? No. Some sort of team movement will always be necessary in the current state of the game. Nerfing it doesn't make any sense.

There is no middleground where defib is balanced in the current state of the game. The fact you can nerf it into obscurity doesn't mean there is. You can nerf literally anything into obscurity regardless of how conceptually broken it is. There needs to be more development in that section of gadgets. That's literally the only way to make defib healthy.

@rough storm 3x defib was never meta until people found out how broken model is, which is a weapon that negates all the weaknesses of defib and especially triple defib. 3x defib without model isn't a strong team comp at all.

There are 5 issues with your logic.

  1. You claim there are some concepts/abilities that are inherently OP and can never be balanced. Outside of truly ridiculous ideas that can hardly be controlled such as disconnecting players or map-wide nukes, this is simply not the case. So long as a concept/ability 1. has alternative options that provide unique utility to a degree that can potentially outperform it and 2. has counterplay by enemies, then said concept/ability can inherently be balanced. For example, is it really going to kill Defib outright if we simply increase the cooldown by 3s or make it take 0.1s longer?

  2. Despite your first claim above, you are contradicting yourselves by correctly claiming that these concepts that you believe are inherently OP (like Recon Senses) could, actually, be rebalanced to the point of not being OP. So which is it, are they inherently OP or not?

  3. You're ignoring pick rates on items. Listen, if you personally like Defib being a staple on M, that's fine, but don't pretend that means the M gadgets are balanced. A gadget having 100% pickrate simply means it's OP for M, even if M itself is weak/strong. Adding more options may help, yes, but until then, option diversity would be helped by nerfing Defib.

  4. You don't need every M to run Jump Pad. You need every M to run Defib. Again, try to separate M's power relative to other classes from Defib's power relative to other M gadgets.

Defib should def not be nerfed in itsself. (as it would underpower the medium role) It should even bring back ppl with 75% or might aswell go for full health or make it a full second or 2 invincibility after the rezz animation. BUT;
A team-wide shared cooldown should be set for it on 1 to 1,5 minute and here's why

  • A teamfight should not exist out of the possibility of having to kill 6 people. Not only does it lengthen teamfights giving it more chance for a third party to get involved but it also straight up isn't fair to have to kill that many people with only 3. There's no other game i've ever seen this in plus if you think logically it's just not fair.
    And as having mained light and heavy i can't tell you how many times i clutched 2 opponents just for that last guy to run around, defib and 2v1 eliminate me.
  • It makes luck more prominent in team fights as even with 3v3 mediums it's the one that can get that extra defib in first that turns it back to a 2v1 and that eventually wins.
  • MMM would still be a good meta as defib wouldn't lose its strength at all cuz your enemies have no option to focus the support and eliminate the one that can defib in that teamfight
  • Even if devs would finally get the point and nerf Model damage to where it should be 3 defibs would still be a meta cuz in comparisson to all other gadgets it's still completely overpowered. Furthermore saying buff other gadgets is a possibility but IMO there's nothing that could ever be as good as 3 possible INSTA REZZES in a 3v3 fight. So i don't understand why you're saying without the Model it would break the meta. Even with it having a shared team-wide CD it wouldn't break that meta cuz it's just that OP. And yes i saw the video about it but you can simply run around with the medium mobility to evade dmg cuz most of the game is cqb. There's more but limited chars

Sword, primary swing 1 more damage (can kill lights in 2 swings)
Riot shield, shield should be better at blocking
Dual blades, more dmg, faster attacks, better deflect
Spear, more range, secondary attack should be cancellable when not holding down secondary (shouldn't have to do the glitch) should damage 360
Flamethrower, should have a VERY slight increase in spread (larger area of effect/larger radius)
M32, if it hits a player before it bounces it explodes otherwise explodes after 1 bounce
R .357, more accurate hip-firing
Dome shield, slightly more hp and having a effect that removes invis from enemys who enter
Explosive mine, either more damage or change the count back to 2
Frag grenade, more arena damage
Zipline, can be placed further away making longer ziplines or using secondary click can choose where it begins and ends

Damn I just realized a global cool down for defibs is really exactly what is needed and would bring its power right in line. Should encourage bringing only 1 defib and medium to play a specific role in the team i.e. battle medic, team movement, minefield +turret fire base. Etc etc

I do not follow your point, friend. Are you saying that healing or defibbing are inherently OP? Because they aren't. They're controllable. For healing, you can reduce the healrate, and enemies counterplay either by dishing out more damage or taking the opportunity to heal for themselves. For defibbing, you can control how frequent/powerful the revives are, and enemies can punish poorly positioned revives.

Why would you nerf Defib? To 1. make it stop having 100% pickrate and let other M builds shine, and 2. to make M's overall value fall a little bit and let L or H shine in their place. Why do you think it was ever nerfed to begin with?

Why do you act as if nerfing the total support output of M is an inherently bad thing? The "current state of the game" is that 1 M is mandatory to even be viable and 2 or 3 of them are meta. Obviously, either M needs nerf, or L and to a smaller extent H need buffs. But given one particular gadget has a 100% pickrate on M, nerfing it would be a surefire way to help M to be more in line with the other two classes. (Along with nerfing Model, of course.) This is a lot cleaner and simpler a rebalance than buffing up many other M options to Defib's level and then also buffing L and H.

The "current state of the game" is not solo pushing. It seems like you are afraid that nerfing Defib would make solo pushing a bigger issue, but it's already not an issue.

If i'm right you're insinuating that i'm contradicting myself but i think you mixed my proposal to nerf the tripple defib META by putting a team-shared CD on it with nerfing the defib gadget substantively, which shouldn't happen. no, triple stacking a class should lead to a team that is incredibly strong at what the class is meant to be good at (team support and sustain for medium.) and incredibly weak at what the class is meant to be weak at (cqc damage output for medium)

again, back when people didnt realize the model was op, 3x medium was on the same level as every other triple stack and was balanced. the only issue with 3x medium is model and adding a weird shared cooldown that only applies to defib is just inconsistent and wont fix the issue and also fucks over double medium comps when they're completely fine. There is no reason to add this

It was not on the same level, triple stack medium was not such a problem BECAUSE there was enough ways to counter it, but in todays Finals, the only way to counter triple Medium Model meta is by playing it yourself, any other triple stack is USELESS against Triple M and sure as hell in the final round.

If they change the triple defib meta, the game gets way more strategic more tactical, the most supportive class with the strongest weapons and the best gadgets to keep the team alive is just crazy. If you need like 3/4 revives to get a team wipe you don't even deserve the wipe tbh.

An official esports scene would be great for the finals. I never watch esports but I was watching a tournament from the pro hubs discord earlier and it looks like a really good game for esports. From what I saw, there are players with the skills needed that practise regulary so there isnt really anything stopping embark.

Dagger feels less intuitive than it could be. People are having to rely on the player's index finger raising because the auditory and visual queues don't do proper service to the people using the weapon causing people like myself to charge and release too early in the heat of the moment. The shimmer for the tip of the arrow is in the game already, so why not apply this to the dagger to show when the alt fire is ready? This would make the weapon more intuitive and likely more satisfying (No pun intended)

Sorry man, but like I said, if you're interested in keeping pickrates among gadgets fair, then Defib with its 100% pickrate needs some kind of nerf, too.

You gotta consider why it was ever nerfed in the first place. It wasn't even because triple M was strong, because AFAIK, triple M wasn't even common during Defib's hayday. It just had too little counterplay and was too valuable to ever give up over other gadgets.

Making it so you can at least glitch the holograms to delete them would be a huge boon to Light, curb both M and Defib's excessive pickrates, and further incentivize using Defib defensively instead of offensively.

They need to remove the 6th vault from spawning. All it does it cause you and your team to spawn 150+m away from the last cash box. Most of the time giving you no chance of a comeback just because your unable to run that far in time.

Someone being defibbed needs to be able to be shot during the revive animation. Defib should not be this, "we're in the middle of a fight! Get back in instantaneously without any counterplay once I kamikaze defib you!". The issue is that once someone is already reforming, there's nothing you can do about it.

New Defib Concept:

  • You can shoot people as they're reforming
  • Glitch Grenades and Barrels will stop the reforming process
  • Charge rate increased to last the span of a cashout (This should make it so that you only get one defib use per cashout engagement

the solo que experience is aids. you cant leave if your teammates leave. if you do you get suspended. you basicly just have to afk with a macro so you dont get kicked. ranked solo que is just a timewaste every other game u get someone leaving and it wastes 8+ mins of time (same goes for wt getting 5 points every other game becuse randoms cant revive or leave isnt fun)

Charge and Slam

  • Initial damage is too strong, it should start with low damage, 30/50 then ramp up by the end to 130.
    Thermal Vision
  • Thermal could do well with a bit more of ‘The Finals pizazz’ I think it should keep vision mostly the same, maybe a little darker than normal, and highlight different objects in different neon colors.
    Model shotgun
  • This shotgun is way too strong at the moment, it’s time to kill against lights and mediums leaves no way to recover against it unless you use a model shotgun and get lucky — the argument that it’s your fault for letting a shotgun get close is irrelevant in a mostly close quarters game like the Finals
    FCAR
  • I’ve ran into nearly no one using this gun this season, and if I have it’s indistinguishable from the AK, it needs some differentiation.
    Defibrillators
  • Defibs are such a strong gadget that if you don’t take them it is essentially “throwing” and I think that requires a change. Increase the time to revive after getting hit by a defib and put a cooldown on defibs for 5-15 seconds after getting revived (in any form)
    Proximity Sensor
  • The range on these is massive and I think should be reduced, it’s not particularly oppressive but can be extremely difficult to avoid
    Goo Gun
  • Give the goo gun an ADS mode and have it fire with more force to allow more precision
    Winch Claw
  • Winch claw needs a windup so that you can potentially avoid it, against the SA1214 or Sledgehammer the winch claw is an unavoidable death sentence — once again staying outside of range is not a reasonable way to play against a mechanic like this

The Goo Gun for heavy Is very underutilized and I really think this weapon could be more effective if it gotten a rework in a way that could make it more powerful in defense. THIS IS ALSO A ROUGH SKETCH IDEA. So take it with a grain of salt.

Goo Gun Rework

When using shooting the Goo Gun, the goo will have a shade of color to them representing your team or an enemy teams color depending on who shot it.

With this in mind, the goo that is shot from a Goo Gun will have 10% - 15% more health for more stability in defending.

When shooting at a player with movement, via Charge & Slam, Evasive Dash, Grapple Hook, etc. It will not stop the specializations ability, but instead slows them down drastically.

Nerfs and Buffs

+ When the goo is shot from the Goo Gun it will have a shade of color to it representing the team who shot it, making it easier to tell who its from and knowing that the goo will have more health.
+ When shooting goo at a player with movement specialization like Evasive Dash, Grapple Hook, and Charge & Slam, it will slow them down drastically.
+ Increase in goo health from 300 to 345 (15% increase) 
+ Increase in burn time from 12s to 16s (35% Increase)
+ Increase in lasting duration of 90s to 115s (27.5% Increase)

- When shooting goo at a player with movement specialization like Evasive Dash, Grapple Hook, and Charge & Slam, it will not stop the animation and it's effects.
- Decrease in length size when connected from 15 to 12 (20% Decrease)
- Magazine size from 20 to 15 (25% Decrease)
- Increase in reload time from 2s to 2.75s (37.5% Increase)
- Decrease in firing rate from 0.3s to 0.6s (100% Decrease)
- Decrease in bullet speed by 20%

Please buff the dual blades. I suggest removing the 50/50,60/60,70 combo and replacing it with flat 55/55 damage slashes, it fixes the light and heavy breakpoints without touching medium ttk (Which is fine though struggles with Model). And or improve the swing speed by 5-15% to decrease the ttk. Having to have to cancel or miss the first swing on a light is annoying at best and pretty impractical to get a reasonable ttk against one of the most mobile classes in the game

Because medium is fully balanced around being weaker than light and heavy in cqc (hence why defib has only been complained about since model meta became mainstream)

Light and heavy both have to take gadgets and specs for survivability in cqc engagements. Medium can go in with a full support build and a model and be just as powerful in cqc as the classes that fully built for it because medium has stats that make it high risk in cqc like light and heavy do. The model would actually be perfectly fine on light or heavy and genuinely interesting.
