Heavies healing emitter is perfect. It vibes with Heavies defensive role and its healing isnāt so strong it competes with HealBeam.
The H+ on the other hand does everything the HealBeam does but better.

With balancing that, the window would have to be relatively precise but idek what weapon itād be.

Hey guys, picked up the game recently and mostly been playing M60 heavy solo and I'm in no way good at it, wanted to shake things up by using another class and decided to try out medium with famas since I heard it has next to no recoil, but haven't been having too much luck with it , so I'd like to know if akm is still viable right now or should I try to get better with fcar

I think both the akm and the fcar are viable but they have more recoil than the famas but you could also try the pike and the cl40 is you don't like those 2
I haven't bought the pike yet but I did like how it felt in the training room, but I wasn't sure how it fares in close ranges
It can work close range but it's better if you just keep a good distance if you use it

I have the most success with FCAR, improving with the revolver has also been very rewarding
revolver is one of those secretly goated guns nobody will play while pike is this good no cap

Hit Detection should be considered a part of a gun or itās health as itās a server issue and it affects all weapons
(Admittedly some more than others)

Weapon idea- semi automatic slow firing weapon, the bullets do less damage but they lodge into whatever you shoot and explode afterwards.

That shotgun is rough though. It sends mixed signals like "haha you suck" when I "miss" within sword lunge distance, but everyone else seems to be able to 2 tap me from 15m

That one does even less for me. I can't mag dump a light in a room and get a kill. It ends up being me chasing around, up down, in and out windows, they get away, and when I'm reloading; their heavy saunters in.
Thatās what the shield bubble and winch claw are for. Plus, heavy is never a solo assault class, itās a support tank.
Point of interest, I threw up my hands last night and ran the sniper for an hour and a half. Stuck with the team and did more damage than any shotgun or pike effort ever did. I almost hit my M60 damage record.

Itās more of a boomerang that goes in a straight line, it can even grab around walls if you use it right.

U mean instead of jump pad or as the third gadget with pad and defib since Iād rather have glitch instead of gas to better counter light dash but it might be good if I switched pad for gas mines
Verizon swears we get 1Gbps up and down all day at 3ms latency. I started monitoring the connection with task manager windows because it's free. Only one time when I got jank and checked did packets out not match packets in. I'm not an IT guy, so there's a lot I'm probably missing
GADGET IDEA- placable or throwable armor packs for heavy that give armor to everyone in the area and can be destroyed, like the grenade interceptor on medium but it just gives a flat out damage reduction.

It would have the range of the grenade interceptor and only protect against bullets, so if you threw gas or fire it could counter.

backstab damage still scuffed af i see. Idk whats worse, your melee animations/piss poor mechanics, or your temu servers that somehow result in me taking full backstab damage while standing in the corner shooting a light in the face as they dash at me, only for them to one tap me at 5 health
Backstab is such an incredibly hard mechanic to balance im surprised it left the testing phase
Specialization idea for light- since weāre seeing more support light ever since the h+ got added. How about a fourth specialization that is a sort of gas mask/hazmat suit they can give teammates or themselves. Would give resistance to fire and poison and get countered by emp:

So I was playing some twisted silly version of the finals...in a dream. I get lucid dreams alot ...so yea but basically I ended up with like 3 or 4 bow skin ideas
There were finger grapples....very painful, but in the game it could be like web slingers idk, the second idea was a slingshot. The third and my favorite had 2 or 3 weapon variations. Bee stingers as a skin (rubber band with a tiny folded paper that's primed like a bow). A singular Rubberband pulled back from the thumb and being flung. A paperplane...last one was a flinging spoon...you put something in the spoon's dip/ bowl and fling it like a catapult. Sorry for the grammar issues and yabber, I slept for 30m and just woke up n joined
NEW GADGET IDEA: Void Grenade (For the Medium. It can be thrown as a usual grenade, but when it explodes, it creates a void/black hole that absorbs only gadgets of certain size (mines, detectors and such), as well as toxic gases, fire, and smoke.) Could be useful to clear an area before entering or secure a cashout station for ur teammates.
u could have skins like a tiny black hole in a glass sphere or some kind of void rift

anybody got any tips for a heavy to deal with riot shields, I cannot figure out how to deal with them. Im a diamond heavy main
If you can, aim for the feet. try to stay with your team, but not on top of each other, making sure to get multiple angles on the riot shield
The shield can only block from one direction at a time.
Riot shield is a counter to good aim and tracking. Its main goal is to force people to adapt on the fly
Flanking is good against riot shields.
When that happens to me, there's literally nothing I can do other than attempt to push at least one of them

I hate the riot shield with an absolute passion, I cannot stand it, I feel there is very very little to NO counter play
I'll be honest as someone who has been playing riot shield since season 1. It has some of the most counters in the game
All other melee weapons out damage it. Heavy by far has the most hard counters to riot shield
But the main counterplay is teamwork and using the movement to your advantage
there are 3-5 riot shielders in every game i play, that stat alone tells me its one of the best in the game lol, and it does more single hit damage than the light sword ive used them both, takes light sword single swings 6 to kill heavy its only 4 with riot shield

I cant escape dude they are in every single game
they always drop 10+ kills every game, its reeeaaallly good right now, with demat jump pad and zip line any decent player is not gonna get ganked by 3+ people at the same time

they sprint and still block shots i just think its so dumb and broken, i cant figure out a solid way to deal with it besides stay with my team full of random team mates doing whatever they want

One suggestion I would make, honestly try riot shield out for yourself. Learn the tech with it and you'll have a better idea of its strengths and weaknesses
Riot shield is pretty OP, but there is really not much they can do to nerf it. It is functioning as intended. What makes it hard is the light and H mate that push and get behind you whilst being pushed by the riot shield. The combos are difficult to push
that stat doesnt really mean anything since akm is also extremely popular and far from the strongest

There's been times in the same game where I'm a extremely dominant player, and then other cash box locations I'm next to useless
I like to say it is also only good on certain maps and truly a riot shield player is useless in solo Q for the most part. I am realizing as frustrating as it is, it is not an OP weapon. I retract my statement of OP. I do believe it is the best up close combat weapon in the game.
akm is consistent and the easiest automatic gun in the game to use, its why it spopular, its the default medium weapon

it's pretty easy to counter but it does require knowing how to which is why its everywhere in lower level lobbies as people just kinda hold forward and just try to shoot everything with not much of a plan there

there's a total of like, 10 players in ruby that use the riot shield too, so it's not exactly popular there either
@thick holly I do not believe the riot shield is anywhere as oppressive as stun gun, winch, recon, DB, invisible, and CL40 felt or currently feel. I have to agree most lower level and solo Q players do not know how to fully counter it yet.

The main issue with riot shield is that people just don't really know how to counter it
No pro or comp or rank player uses AKM. It is a low skill gun that does not require much time to learn recoil pattern.

Yeah, riot shield can be dealt with by taking down his teammates first or all 3 of you focus riot shield with Pyro and other methods. Draw him or her out to bait them or use mines or goo or turret.

I dislike all the recon abilities in the game. The effect is visually jarring even though its for my benefit, and it tracks in live rather than with pings, which is just too much intel.
I think if these were fixed, the duration could even be extended, and the frequency of pings increased on the grenade, or not, but either way I'm good as long as the effect is reduced, and it pings static positions instead of live feed

See give me a minute here:
Make the physical shield smaller, and make a mesh shield (shape of the riot shield, about halfway between heavys mesh and the normal riot shield size, make that project around the shield and have health.
And you can hit the mesh to break it down, but if it breaks, the physical shield is still there in the middle, providing cover still (albeit its smaller now, and thus less protective alone).
And as a bonus, the physical shield being smaller will cripple the awful "passive shield" effect without needing to do something unimmersive like make it disappear when not held up.
This, this will give riot shield users a more functional weapon that doesn't need weird strafing tech to be good, and will be more readable for people against them.

yeah that is way too convoluted, im ok with giving a small mesh shield with hp around the actual riot shield when you hold it up though
If they did wanna rework riot shield a bit while keeping the same gameplay. They should probably do some nerfs to the passive block while buffing the active block.
For example maybe in the passive state the shield is held at an angle. That way there's still a lot of room to shoot at someone strafe running at you, but still requires you to aim at a specific spot.
and if you break it the actual physical shield is still there anyway

Maybe an active block buff could be the ability to crouch down while blocking for full coverage. Downside is your movement speed would be very slow

Just to praise it. Good weapon all round, and the low mag is literally a perfect balancing technique.
It is possibly the most perfectly not too weak nor too strong weapon in the entire game, I dare say.
Being quite the meta weapon you could definitely argue it is too strong.
But for most players itās fine
Mag size is unfortunately a fundamentally problematic balancing technique because the amount to which it matters is highly skill dependant

As a big flamethrower fan you should give it a try. Honestly works well with any spec. To use shield effectively with it you need to learn the cursed tech, Heavy..Movement... All other specs work as normal. Winch, winches, charge let's you bum rush players through walls, goo let's you stun and cook them along with increasing mobility.
Spear is very fun and better than may first appear. But spear is also pretty reliant on winch and spin cancel.
Still waiting for spear to get a rework where it can deal some damage eventually

Primary fire
- Has a 6-10 meter range, doesn't have a hit box between you and the 6m range, so getting in your face is a good counter.
- the heavy stabs the pike starting and 6m and quickly progressing to 10m away from the heavy, so enemies at the 6m range get hit slightly faster than enemies at the 10m range
- does 75 DMG per stab
-- 2 shots lights
-- 4 shots mediums
-- 5 shots heavies - the attack animation takes .3 seconds with a .2 second cooldown. So a 150dps with perfect timing.
Shoulder shield
- While equiped heavy has a shoulder strapped kite shield that blocks 40% of incoming damage if they hit the shields hit box. To avoid this they can shoot head or feet, or they can strafe as the shield is locked into your shoulders
- when using Pike the heavy always runs with there shoulder infront of them, so the shield stays in the front
Secondary fire
- the heavy shield checks an enemy within QM range, knocking them back 8m.
- secondary fire deals 50 DMG.
- .4 second buffer after shoulder checking
- shoulder checking limits enemies movement for .5 seconds (soft stun).
Don't know if it's a good idea, just kinda liked the idea of pike and shield for heavy. I used damage resistance rather than a proper shield because heavy does not need a riot shield. And this is honestly cutting it a bit too close than I probably like.

I did choose kite shield for a reason tho. It doesn't cover nearly as much as a tower shield or as the riot shield, and you can still be head shot, doesn't protect against thos. And kite shield also is easier to strafe since it's more narrow than other shields.

You Wanna be a meta light that shreds people with consistent damage output, or a movement rat that can position however you want, or do you Wanna be a headshot demon that can pop other lights like the rats they are. Depends on what you're looking for, I personally play support light with good flanking, so I run
- Dash
- Sword
- Gateway
- Vanish bomb
- Grenade/Sonar/Infuser (depends on game)
I think something like invis 93r gateway. The other gadgets I think it's more personal preference?

I will say be careful with gateway. It's probably lights best gadget next to infuser and glitch nades. But it's skill ceiling is high. Look up a tutorial or something on it, the gateway requires knowledge, awareness, and creativity

being a meta weapon doesn't mean that is broken, shak50 is good on high elo because of his ttk potential, but the low dmg per mag and the really bad range makes it a really unforgiving gun, Sa12 is still better because of the movement it provides and the huge mag

Lights whole job is 1v1's, now they're not supposed to be fair, But light is kinda supposed to be heavies check, constantly keeping the pressure up while slipping in and out of the fight. The high DPS means even heavies aren't usually safe from lights. And I would say shak fits into this well, D-eagles don't for me tho. Their damage and more importantly range is too good in my opinion. they probably need 1 of the 2 toned down a bit, if I had to choose tho I'd choose the range be toned down.
My point is that you can't balance by only looking at ttk, there is so many different factors of why a gun is good or bad. Different guns have different playstyles, so they are balanced on a different way.

In a comp level lights job is not 1v1's, most of the value a light gets is from picks, poke dmg, and the utility they provide with their gadgets. The drawback of akimbo is that they don't fit on heavy playstyle, most of the dmg comes from headshots and the range doesn't help that much, you are not supposed to fight long range as a heavy, that's mediums/lights job.
Its got a few, but it hasn't gotten a new skin in a while besides the gold
there are some that straight up just dont have skins yet

They play dirty and jump people, but that's why I said it's not fair, but the ultimate goal is still to bait a 1v1 and let your team handle the 2v2

They have the same Min and Max range drop off than Lewis gun, In theory Lewis is better on long range because of the body shot, rpm, and the 67% drop off modifier, the only way akimbos are better on this situation is the lack of recoil
But lewis burst is way lower and a lot less punishing, and it requires good tracking and sustained fire as well, so it's more balanced to me

Both guns require good aim, the difference is on what type of aim style they need, lewis is more tracking focus while akimbos is more micro adjustment focus. Akimbos are only better if you hit 1 to 2 headshots every fight, so they have a higher skill ceiling than lewis, so i don't think they're unbalanced on my opinion
The main issue with lewis gun is the lack of burst dmg, making it really hard to fit in the heavy playstyle

When taking comp tho we should presume that higher skill ceiling is met. And with D-eagles it can partially nullify one of heavies weaknesses while not really adding any of it's own. The lewis is out preformed and close to mid range by both the mini-gun and m60, so theres a trade off for that range, the D-eagles have no tradeoff other than skill, and since the skill is aiming, it's far more common to be good at high Elos. They need a slight nerf to me for this reason.

I haven't reached really high in ranked yet (I've only been playing ranked for about a week and a half now and I'm currently at gold 2), but i don't see why they wouldn't be more used. They fill a niche the shak and SA don't, and they fill it really well
I think it's mid because it's competition is the D-eagles. They took it's niche, before them it was more used
But minigun also works well at mid so lewis probably needs a slight buff
Akimbos are not used in high elo because they are really hard to play close range (the range you are supposed to play as a heavy) and you get out Dps by pike and most of the light guns at long range, so they're viable but you need to have insane aim to make it work

I don't know if that's really true tho, if you can hit heads they are great at short range, they suffer at close range but still not impossible to fight with, just makes heads harder to hit. And I feel like at high Elos that's where people would have the aim to make them work

V9 is a pretty easy light gun imo but I hardly play light
you don't need good aim to reach ruby/high elo, is all about finding a stack and good game sense. There is so many times i have went against a ruby player and im able to win the fair 1v1, and im not that good compared to some other people

griefing wasnt a thing the way it is in S2, people just held boxes, in S2 you had to macro around boxes and 3rd party to grief, with S3 the only thing embark did was add more ways of griefing
higher wipe amounts and no money on starting a cashout, griefing was infinitely less common and way more risky
you could literally lose games in S2 for trying to grief, now if you are in a position where you cant get griefed out you get to bully 2nd place out for free
S2 ranked was bad, reachig diamond was just playtime, and the entire rs system was horrible
still is like that, just that higher elo lobbies are way more miserable post S4 than they were in S2
stacked S2 lobbies were fun, stacked S4 lobbies were terrible
griefing was less common because people didn't know how to play the game at the time

you are mistaking the macro in S2 being different for people being worse at the gamemode, people didnt lose matches in S2 because you COULDNT, top 10 requires 100+ win streaks in high diamond
most of the high elo players were worse on s2, also the matchmaking sucked on ranked, i was getting queue with golds while being diamond every single match
yet the gamemode itself was much better, the matchmaking has not changed since S2
S2 didnt allow people to grief by simply plugging a box, because that was a risk to your qual aswell
the gamemode has only gotten worse since S2, plug money being in the game makes griefing way too easy
shits been an issue since S4 and embark havent done anything to adress it
