@lapis kindle I want to show you a new thing i've been working on for the item pages: it's a list of "features" per item, which shows a subset of 60+ features depending on which are applicable to the current item. each item page has a feature list that can always be consulted to find out things like "does the zipline have a limited duration? does the cl-40 hurt my teammates?"

well I was thinking just a section somewhere on the page like in the screenshot, but just the icons could also be shown in the infobox with a hoverable description
i think the infobox could work and itās easy to apply across the board
i've researched all the properties for each item, so i can easily write an algorithm to implement it regardless of the format
but tbh, i don't think it'd hurt to display it on the page as most item pages are pretty short anyways (and it contains important info), i think both could work

I agree with this. This would be a great addition to the wiki. I think the wiki lead should have a new discussion on this standpoint. For the reason that Embark devs are too busy to provide us with in-game assets, and as a developer I do not see any ethical concerns, unless Embark specifically stated they do not want the assets on their wiki. Of course it falls under Fair Use, but that's not an issue since the website is hosted by Embark to begin with, so... I would hope that an Embark developer or higher can comment on what the team thinks about this.
Considering I worked with Embark to make the wiki, we don't include anything datamined out of respect for Embark. imo anything that you have to go out of your way to decrypt is off limits. This is not something I will be willing to change or lessen as it's a way into sharing things that aren't meant to be public 
I understand not wanting to encourage people to access the game files to protect things like easter eggs or future content. I think respect is out of the question, as none could have more respect than those who spend so much time writing documentation about their game.
It is true though that the alternatives for gathering these are low-quality and extremely time-consuming by comparison. The volunteers donāt have time for it.
As a result of this policy, the Wiki will simply not be able to have some things. Think of something very basic like a complete list of voice lines, which we will never be able to have, not even in text form. Not because itās impossible, but because it takes too many hours to research and process these things manually. They would only be worth volunteers putting in the hours if they were available in a more convenient manner. Yet, these are often ālittle thingsā that could genuinely help people if they were available.
I understand that this is what you decided on. But I also wanted to have it be pointed out that some things are being sacrificed here.

The dual blades also block charge and slam, I did some testing, it blocks all bullet damage by 80% and blocks melee damage by 67% Although it's possible to block melee and charge and slam, it is very inconsistent due to the active frames being able to hit repeatedly.

I tried retro invasion and meteor shower like twice each but itās too hard
But judging by the other interactions I tried, you cannot deflect those (like orbital lasers and cannon balls)
Basically you only deflect bullets, throwing knives, tracking dart and arrows
And you block melee attacks and charge
Bore goes straight through you as usual, stun gun ignores you like the winch claw
This stuff is my hobby so yeah happy to if it helps

Why does the vanishing bomb have "Long cooldown" listed as a downside? 18 seconds is one of the shortest cooldowns in the game.
Plus it's a lingering effect so you'll roughly get a 14-15 second downtime

Since this info isn't properly on the wiki yet, let me share it with you.
- Reloading the MGL32's magazine takes a long time, leading to long downtimes between firing. Also, it is not possible to quickly replenish one missing shell like with the [[CL-40]].
- Unlike the [[CL-40]], the MGL32 struggles to reliably hit nearby opponents when there is no wall or ceiling nearby, due to the forced bounce before detonating.
- --> When facing an MGL32 user, getting very close to them is often a death sentence for the MGL32 user, as the target becomes very difficult to hit. Additionally, close hits lead to the MGL32 user taking damage from their own grenades.
- --> Having the high ground over an MGL32 user (with no ceiling overhead) is also a counter to them, such as when peeking through a hole in the ceiling over the MGL32 user.
- Arenas where a lot of the fighting occurs in wide open areas, such as [[Seoul]], offer poor conditions for the MGL32, as there will often not be a nearby surface to reliably bounce grenades off of.
- --> Arenas with slanted roofsā[[Monaco]] and [[Skyway Stadium]]āalso offer poor conditions for the MGL32 while fighting in the open, as it is impossible to reliably hit the grenades off of the slanted surfaces.
- When the area is largely covered in rubble, such as from a [[Sledgehammer]] user or from a collapsed suspended structure with the [[Cashout Station|cashout station]] on it, the MGL32 struggles to reliably bounce its grenades towards opponents due to the irregularly slanted surfaces.
- Since the MGL32's grenades are a projectile, the [[APS Turret]] is a direct counter to the weapon.
thank you so much for the informations, I was really desperate to find counters to It as every game Iv'e had against this weapon, the cashout was in a closed space. also, can you do anything about it destroying walls like cardboard, like using shields or other statagems ?
if the cashout is in a closed space, breach the walls so you can defend it without entering the room. you can use red canisters or gadgets. Also, the best way to get a feeling for MGL32 counters is to play the weapon yourself, and you will play better against it.
let me know which class you are playing in which game mode and i can give you a more tailored advice.

You should bring the APS turret - other than that, a gun like the AKM/FCAR can usually outrange an MGL. not when you are dealing with many enclosed spaces of course, for this you can use the dematerializer (takes some games to get good with this) to create a new attack angle. Alternatively a guardian turret on the ceiling will be hard for an MGL user to take out.

How the hell does weapon xp work 
Last I tested, it's a damage-to-xp by some factor, e.g. 0.4Ćdamage and no extra XP for kills. Yet other people say that kills contribute to XP. So some research is needed in this field.
It also varies per weapon: sniper gave much less xp per damage than the AKM.

Since the beginning of season 3, each item has its own price, and I do not know if the prices of old items have been changed on the wiki (it seems not), and each category needs to be updated

i feel like the grenade is inconsistent between dealing 149 or 150 damage maybe if you stand on just the right pixel
I think I've gotten 150 dmg only once or twice.
You probably have to stand right on top of the grenade
confirmed how combat score works:
+250 for kill, +100 for assist, +{DMG} for regular dmg, +{2ĆDMG} for 'critical damage dealt' (regardless of the crit multiplier).
e.g. SR-84 headshot grants 230Ć2 = 460 combat score, and if it's a kill that increases to 710 score for one shot even though it only did 230 dmg.
an AKM crit deals 30 dmg (1.5x), but will grant 60 combat score (2xDMG).
and most significantly, a dagger backstab that kills the target will instantly grant +890 combat score (2Ć320 + 250)
from my research it looks like item XP for each weapon works like this.

AFAIK it calculates distance from whatever is considered center of the character in this game. If the character is crouching, the center will be lower, so i will more likely hit for more. This also makes light a bit more vulnerable since its the shortest.
That would be a good explanation. I also think they simply made the damage graph look something like this.
Very frequently deals 149 damage, and rarely 150, and other times it'll deal reduced damage based on distance.. so it's some funky graph.
a more reasonable explanation would be that they used something like that where a lot of the times the damage lies between 149.9 and 149.0 but gets rounded down

only in the in-game score, not for weapon XP. I tested this interaction with the LH1, Dagger, SR-84 and some others
Hmm interesting. I was under the impression that it was just 0.2 * combat score from wpn, but i guess thats not true.
for example, 2 body shots and a headshot + elimination with the LH1 (192 dmg) grants 192 + 96 + 250 score, but only (192 + 250) / 5 = 88 XP
it is, but only if you don't get any headshots, then you will find it desyncs.
what pioneer means is that you have to hit contestants with the weapon specifically, and that its not a translation of combat score gained using the weapon, only damage to opponents from the weapon.
combat score and XP are most likely rewarded in the same function calls, but they have different conditions and calculations and such.

I thought that the trajectory of the evasive dash was based of what direction you are moving. For example pressing D and dashing = going right. Or am I just stupid
trajectory vs direction. the up/down angle of the dash is based on look direction.
direction of the dash is based on movement keys, or if no movement keys are being held then it just goes straight forward

Just a heads up that if you edit the tips table and add or remove a tip, the random tip of the day will most likely change instantly as the tips are randomised from 1 - max num of rows in the table so removing/adding changes the outcome. It's to be expected, you haven't screwed anything up if that happens.

idk if people have mentioned this before and im not sure if anything can be done about it, but has anyone else noticed that the wiki has really slow loading times and optimization? it takes a really long time to get between pages on it
unfortunately Embark's provided web server is really unstable and sometimes there will be a couple minutes where the loading times are extreme, and at other times, they are mediocre yeah. dont know if a more specific reason has been given, but i don't think optimization is really the root of the issue here.
Yeah, it's an ongoing thing which they are aware of, sadly no news about it at the moment but hopefully in the future.

so this randomly popped up in my head for some reason and it would be nice if we just had one central place like a json file where we can put the patchnotes for gadgets/specialisations/weapons to display on their pages.
I'll look at working on something within the next week or so, need to figure out what kind of json formatting would be best for it or what other way would be best 
I haven't had time to explore the idea further very much. Though I think that if a lookup script - on a list of lots of unordered items - is invoked every time a gadget page is loaded, it might have a performance impact, especially since this thing would be on nearly all of the interesting pages. It may be worth looking into whether it would be possible to set up an automation or bot which generates a template for each subject. E.g. Template:ChangeHistory/AKM. (this would be done after the patch notes of an update are added, so every week or so.)
And on the AKM page, there would simply be a {{Template:ChangeHistory/AKM}} - no unnecessary processing is done
There's a way to cache data using lua scribunto (supposedly, I haven't looked too much into it), my thought was maybe just a global json which contains something on the lines of like

if 0 = V9S, 1 = whatever then we can just have a massive json file full of every change which then gets parsed into scribunto and then we can make it so when we call the module it only grabs "1" which means 'whatever' weapon.
Or a better way to organise the json, that one is just an example. It means all we need to do is edit a json file, fill in the newest patch for each weapon/gadget/specialisation and then it'll update on all pages.
We could also try parsing every page within let's say the patches category and then pull only lines which mention the weapon/gadget/specialisation.
also I never really use json so would have to learn how to format it 
Once a format is established, I can pretty easily set up a way to convert all existing patch notes (at least starting from Release, Pre-release would be a more manual process) into the new format if needed
but for the beginning you'd want to set up a smaller list of test patch notes of course
That's interesting, but it's not great from an editor's perspective.
entering the new patch notes into the wiki shouldn't mean having to split all the items manually, as this is also really hard to check for correctness
this JSON file you mention is possible to have as a technical in-between as a sort of cache, and then for the editors, here are two ideas:
- a patch page which is a table with data per patch. columns include the Patch, the applicable Pages, and the patchnote text.
- a json with patches, but organized by patch and not by item. this one would also include the introduction text and such, that means we could also automate a page about the patch later
in either of those ideas, you would need some sort of automation to convert the "page for editors" into the "technical json format organized by item"
also, by this I mean that all the items (patchnotes) in a patch would be really far apart, so there'd be no way to easily check if all the items from a patch were properly added to the wiki
(but more importantly it would just take an unnecessary amount of time for a human to sort the patch into all the appropriate categories)
But to be a bit more nuanced, most patches are pretty small, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal if a format is used where editors need to categorize the items manually.

and yeah, I think something like a table (similar to 'Tips') is a solid idea as it invites editors to add a patch (json scary) but the module should NOT pull directly from the table unless the data can actually be cached effectively
true you would need to loop through ALLL OF IT to get to the right parts, unless you make a script which sorts it all out beforehand into different cache's which we need to run weekly because weekly patches which will hammer the wiki A LOT for however long it takes for parse a big arse json file.
We can try your table idea though, it's possible to cache stuff but we'll need to make some modules that allow us to manually reset the cache every week we want to update patchnotes
this is if caching actually works properly
parsing a json of the finals patches should not take longer than a few seconds. it is a problem if it happens every page view, but not once per week
I think the simplest idea might be table (add rows to this each patch) -> automation converts it to json, activated by admin or just whenever the table page is edited -> stored in json per item (not meant for editors) -> template pulls from json.
trying to think of how it'll work, modules run every time a page loads which means we'll need a module which doesn't run every time and only when we run it manually to grab all the data from the table
but if an automation can be figured out that writes to a json file, it might be just as easy to write an automation that edits an item-specific template, and no module would need to be loaded on page view
to be fair though, the current tips table we have for the top of the day is grabbed every time we load the main page and it runs well but that only has like 60? enteries
I should try adding caching to that and see if I break it somehow 
the module loads the entire table into memory then grabs a certain array item based on the daily seed, now try that with thousands of patchnote rows, where it has to scan EVERY array item not just one and compare it against a string, and it does this on every page load...

it's gonna run on a rpi5 but it'll handle whatever we throw at it, just might be a bit slower but the real wiki is slow anyway at times so that doesn't change much
just say: "Runs on RPI5, giving us performance exceeding that of the real Wiki!"
I'll get it setup for us to test some theories on how to get the patchnotes thing sorted and we'll work from there

The 'Item Pages Overhaul' update is complete. It greatly improves the information available of each item page and, apart from the infobox, redesigns the presentation of all the content.
- New introduction text for each page in a consistent style.
- 'Usage' section, explaining how to deploy a weapon or gadget.
- That section implements the new Control Scheme template, with custom-designed PC/controller buttons, explaining which inputs to press.
- 'Properties' section, explaining in which ways this item is similar to other items (scope, projectile, critical hit, structure damage...). Did tons of research for this. This section ensures completeness of technical information without sacrificing readability through walls of text. I also designed 60+ icons for the different properties (img 2).
- 'Strategy' section; now always split into Strengths, Weaknesses and Tactics. Wrote lots of new content for this section as many pages were missing strategy tips.
- 'Mechanics' section that holds technical details, present for those interested but out of the way for casual readers.
- 'Item Mastery' section, explaining the exact XP reward sources for this weapon or gadget. A lot of research was done for this, I've done weapons and @strange frost researched most of the gadgets (Your research has finally reached the wiki

This did get me curious though since the images in the above example are very large, so I checked. It seems like MediaWiki isn't actually sending a smaller file for a resized image, it's just sending the full 1024x1024 image even though the image is only about 100x100. so it seems like no thumbnail generation is taking place here. normally an image of this size is about 20KB, yet the images on this page go up to 300+KB.

Hm maybe a new section for ranged weapons covering recoil could be helpful. Including a written description of how to control it (for that weapon), alongside a picture of the recoil pattern for 1 mag (like how the shotguns get a picture of their spread)
That would be very nice. I wanted to have some additional things like this, but didn't have the time to carry out all this research.
I would have added: a graph for damage falloff, a diagram of the recoil of one mag like you said, and also statistics on kill times (which should be calculated automatically based on centrally stored damage data, but that's another story)

Uhh, well letās see, in terms of html the wiki is a free software made by Wikimedia foundation, and the āstyling and back end āwas handled by Luke
Itās basically a reskinned version of Mediawiki which basically all game wikis use
So it uses the citizen skin and then the whole elements in the main page + some other things were wire-framed in photoshop by SPEAR and then I made it in CSS/html with help from SPEAR/Kyne/Smashel
unless this happens in-game or in-universe, it wonāt be reflected on the Wiki. sadly, it isnāt the place for role-playing or headcanons

i don't have any of them so can't confirm but i hope it's just for the showcase. imo, sometimes those videos don't represent the cosmetics properly because they're rendered differently than how they look in-game (i.e. lighting, textures)

So I have the sa1216 skin (I'm literally the heavy from the newest official art, same outfit and weapon lol), and it does still have flash. Actually, the flash clips through the muzzle brake and looks weird (it's only noticeable at the end of a game when time slows and it says what place you got)

I do not think so. But I can give advice from my friend to you and anyone who sees this message: If your menu freezes after the match for a few seconds, then you need to delete your in-game friends and leave them around 50-100
I don't think I have more then like 15 friends added in game but I will try deleting all of them
I tried a fresh install of the game and it worked perfectly for the evening I played after that fresh install
then today I booted it up again and its back to stutters that make it unplayable
this only affects the menu freeze

We do use the season pages, it's linked to the big banner on the main page. The battle pass page is basically just a massive page that just lists every battle pass so people don't have to visit every season page
battle pass page is sometimes used by hunters. its just easier to have all images at one place instead of switching 3 pages
The option for lazy loading images is on, it's just the host is a bit sluggish either way when it comes to trying to load images that show first

in the future, if the finals gets to like 10 seasons, we might have around 1000 images on one page, and it'll probably take 10 minutes to load.

The thing I look for in weapon skins is the inspects so having that display would be great
there's tons of graphics that are not necessarily sponsor logo related + we call them brands until we know more info about them or are officially brought as sponsors to the game

why is the the finals wiki not updated
itās the first day of the season, and itās community run..
stats are updated, minus some DPS values needing to be recalculated, main is updated thanks to SPEAR. It's getting there but as SPEAR said, it's community ran, people are either busy playing, working or sleeping.

Out of curiousity, what Holtow themed character cosmetics are there? Not the direct obvious ones, like the level progression and the sponsorship one. Think something like the Impact Candidate set: a bundle which is sponsored by Holtow. Any others?

107 for bronze kills, probably 100 but he ended the game with 107 afterwards

16k kills = plat
3137 revives = plat
46.6M cash = gold
Heavy gold is possible 500 wins (main heavy so probably half are heavy)
Silver I'm assuming is 250 since I got silver for both and that maths up. I have heavy ach on both Xbox and PS5 so definitely 300+
I believe kills is 10k for Plat
And revives is 2.5k for plat
And for wins silver badge I think it might be default or a very low number because I have med and h silver and I barely play them

if you create a template for bp item which are inline then you could have a single css sheet which means edits to css and shit apply to all within said template instead of just having inline css

ye, each last BP page item is animated but we don't need this in the Wiki. we just need small size files
We try to avoid big file sizes mainly for user experience, if you have multiple big files on a page that someone needs to download with not-so-fast internet then they're gonna be waiting longer for said image or page to load.
Secondly, GIFs over certain frames/size tend to not autoplay unless we tweak settings which means either way, it'll just show a single frame unless user clicks on the gif which in all fairness, most won't click on it.

The Pike-556 looks to be based on the KelTec SU-16, specifically the SU-16CA. The base version seems to lack the case-deflecting charging handle and dust cover. The Eclipse Shade skin is closer to the SU-16C, including a folding stock, case deflector and compact forend

True, the question is just whether WT warrants its own inclusion. It has a dedicated article, unlike Quick Cash and Ranked Tournaments, and Wiki visitors probably expect it to appear on the gamemodes page.
But it's not a core gamemode, it uses the Cashout gameplay loop.

I got 222 for a whole tournament win with 0 ISEUL-T cosmetics on, and 586 for a first round loss with full ISEUL-T gear.

we can add it, but the modules are responsive to images so they expand. i donāt think we need a third column for the CEO

The sponsor pages look good! I just noticed some elements are a bit non-standardized, what would you think about
- Using the gallery template for the image gallery instead of a table
- Moving cosmetic icons to the left-most column and listing their types as normal (this also helps mobile users)
- Using in-game cosmetic icons for every item instead of cutouts
Not sure if a table is the best way to do this, but thoughts on an Attachments section for each weapon?

@sour flare Just a heads up that we don't need to include the rarity bar in screenshots. It's often more consistent to upload only the icon, since templates like CosmeticCard add rarity with CSS
Ideally we have one image for each item, which contains only its icon, and then we can add/remove the rarity bar via templates in different contexts.
