I think the game puts you on the same team if you are in a party with your friend together while you create/join a custom game.
So if someone joins the private match by entering the lobby-code themself, they'll be put on their own team.

Finals has one of the most fun tracking & ttk's of any game out there, tracking not really a thing in valorant + ultrafast ttk just means ppl camp
The slower the TTK the more active and agressive players are = more fun.

fun fact! if you're in the lobby, there are two versions of default! one with yellow enemies and one with red enemies. if you scroll a certain direction through the options, you'll get different defaults. It's most likely a bug.

Or the game is just garbage and needs to be fixed even if he did miss like 2-3 bullets still would of done more then half the guys health bar when most of the shots were headshots and the guy didn’t even start shooting back until after he was already tagging him like that’s not the only issue with this game held barrels launching by themselves while using a zip line even tho that button or key doesn’t drop it at all to begin with, the game freezing you in place all the damn time at the most ironic and convenient moments for the enemy team, the lights dash stuttering, the trash mantling needing to sometimes jump twice in certain locations for it to register you trying to mantle, shots not registering when hitting another player, glitching through walls issues i can keep going about
