well what confused me is how the game takes "75 years into the future" meaning there is an important point in time that was 75 years ago. Normally you would just say the game takes place in 207x so what is so important about 75 years ago, because when you read the press release you would think "oh the game is 75 years from 2020 or 2019 [whenever the game was in development or releasing] so this would have to refrence in the games universe, meaning that the virtual world was in the making since 1998

These are little Easter eggs left by the team I think. The one in Japanese calligraphy says “with love” and the one in golden lettering says “Aliado” which is a name in Japanese. On the same table in one of the houses at the very bottom of Kyoto 🙂

The table also has the rogue wave painting with Mt. Fuji on it which depicts the art style of 19th century rural Japan

I suspect MultiCo stole it from them and locked them out and CNS wants it back or something similar

How else would they make a custom level in such a short amount of time + know how to flawlessly navigate the backend of the game show. Even as advanced hackers, it’d take time to learn the internal tools of the VR game. They had to have come with prexisting knowledge

if we follow the greek mythology connections to this game: Ariad is not a standalone name but a shortened form of Ariadne, the princess of Minos. Ariadne is believed to mean "pure." Minos had entrapped the Minotaur in a labyrinth maze to hold the minotaur designed by Daedalus and Icarus. The Minotaur required 7 boys and 7 girls as sacrifice to the half man half bull.

Ariadne helped Theseus kill the bull after helping him escape from Minotaur. So the connection with The Finals is = it matches a lot of the computer chips as far as the Labyrinth's design goes. It also matches with a lot of dead ends that we find in misleading lore and easter egg (designed to trick us)
Edit: Ariadne guided Theseus through the labyrinth. So the Ariad in The Finals is GUIDING US!!! 😮 Extra edit: Ariadne helped Theseus escape the labyrinth with a ball of yarn that is unrolled through the labyrinth.

Also in regard to the Corona Borealis in the sky, I don't think it has to do with a supernova or a bright star. I think it has to do with the fact that it's the jeweled crown given by Dionysus to Ariadne, who set it in the heavens.

This game is called: Curse of Monkey Island

(and I don't know why we didn't play it before 💀 )

First I'm gonna go through the main plot of the game and little stuff that are interesting and could connect, and then we'll go deeper with current Level 3 stuff

• Cursor is an X, and becomes a Red X when something in interactable

Guybrush gets captured by LeChuck, and uses cannon to escape the room he's in

• He finds a Gold Diamond ring (cursed) and proposes to Elaine with it

• Because of the curse, Elaine turns into a gold statue

Obviously, the gold statue could be related to THE FINALS gold statue... I wonder if we'll get stronger connections later

We meet a fortune teller, she explains we need another diamond ring to undo the curse, and for that we need to get to Blood Island and recover the Goodsoup diamond ring

• On this first island, inside the "clock" building, there is a guy preparing a theatre piece called SPEARE! (hi @solar glade)

• It's a parody of Shakespeare, a mix of Hamlet + Romeo and Juliet, and he even says the line from Caesar's death "Et tu, Brute"

• There are the pyramids of Kheops in the background of the stage

• The guy practicing is called Rex Fortune, Adventure Seeker (Rex = t-rex?)

The gold statue ends up being stolen by a mysterious crew of pirates that we need to find

On the way to their boat, we are eaten by a snake, and inside it we find several interesting items:

• Fabergé Egg

• Encyclopedia (which contains the explanation to how to make a compass)

• Plunder Island Naturalist remains (related to Linnaeus?)

• Maple syrup (related to the "honey" Rob's pic?)

Guybrush manages to escape and get to the boat

• There we discover that the crew is actually made out of 7 monkeys and a gorilla (their leader)

• After some puzzles we manage to find a map of where they hid the gold statue

• One guy has a map of Blood Island tatooed on its back, we end up using cooking oil to give him sunburn and peel it off... (eww)

• At some point I saw mentions of Angus McFulcrum, which could relate to MOS Technology Agnus?

• The we get a cinematic of LeChuck coming back to life once again (after being defeated at the start), he appears from a big burst of flames

• Level 2 started with image Oriri ex cinere, aka "it rises from ashes/fire"

After we got rid of the monkeys on the boat, they went to see the theatre guy, which is juggling with 3 daggers, then with cannonballs

• There we play with lights which end up marking an X on the stage

Thanks to that we can recover Elaine and sail to Blood Island with out 3 crewmembers

• On the way, the 3 crew gets distracted by a whale (100ft long, 200 tons)

• In the meantime, Renee Rottingham attacks us in Insult Swordfighting and wins the map to Blood Island

• One very interesting "insult": "I would've avoided the volcano, had I built Pompeii"

Then we proceed to train in order to defeat him and recover the map back

• Our ship crashes on Blood Island, and there is a crew mutiny

• Guybrush says "I'm on my own now" (perhaps why Rob is leaving us on our own too, after all the training we've got)

The cemetary has crypts, and some monument that looks like some obelisks

Volcano is guarded by the 3 vegetarian cannibals, they offer vegan food to appease the volcano (it is lactose intolerant)

We learn that the diamond ring we need is hidden inside the Goodsoup crypt

In order to get into the crypt, Guybrush mixes some medicine with a grog (alcohol, DO NOT REPRODUCE)

• He falls down, apparently dead (a predicted by the cards) and just "lies here"

Mort (gravedigger, means "death"), puts him in a coffin inside the crypt

Using the **fireflies **as a light source, we fix the lighthouse, which uses a fresnel lens and a mirror

• After that, we need to make a **compass **that we give to the Lost Welshman, so that we are able to head to Skull Island, where the diamond is, this is when Guybrush says "science is fun when you know the secret!

• There the island is controlled by King André, king of smugglers

Skull Island is called like that because it "looks like a skull"...

To which Guybrush responds

That's a duck!
If you squint and turn your head it looks like a bunny.

• This could be an obvious link to the Big Duck on Monaco, and to the WR

• André resides** in a cave on the cliff**, it's full of treasures and of Plunder Bunnies

(could the cave be related to the caves on Monaco?)

André is fond of poker, and accepts to play a game for Guybrush to win the diamond (both elements relate to Vegas and Season 1)

• The game is rigged, and Guybrush cheats too and plays his 5 Death tarot cards, "5 of a kind!"

Finally we can combine the **ring **and the **diamond ** to replace the cursed ring and bring Elaine back! 🎉

Sadly after that LeChuck kidnaps both Guybrush and Elaine and bring them to the Monkey Island carnival

• He explains that the whole carnival runs on **energy ** from Big Whoop

• And that Big Whoop is the gates of hell themselves, and that going through it gives you immortality

He also explains that Dinky Island is actually an atol, linked by a maze of underground tunnels (small link to ENGIMO maze visuals?)

• One of the employee of the carnival is a giant rat, Wharf Rat (WR) (this could ALSO be related to Mirror's Edge Big Rat EE)

• At the end of the game, Guybrush manages to crush LeChuck under **ice **using an explosion (we've had quite a few "ice" clues)

Some additional lore involves:

• King André had plans to destroy** Skull Island** using explosives controlled by geosynchronous satellites (related to blowing up Big Duck EE? Rob implied that André got inspired by hunters like us...)

• An unfinished song for the end of the game had Guybrush** call Elaine "my Aphrodite"** (THE FINALS Gold Statue is one of Aphrodite)

This is based on my previous theory about eyes anatomy, including rod and cone cells.

At night, you can't see anything, and to look at stars you need to look a bit off-center, as the fovea lacks rod cells.

The rod cells allow to see luminosity, and are more sensitive than cones, which allow to see colors during the day.

• Day = high luminosity = cone cells = V (cone shape)

• Dawn = low luminosity = rod cells = I (rod shape)

• Night = no luminosity = nothing = X

I think I may have discovered something significant:

Following the path that the Gill T Fisher pet kingfisher bundle in the store potentially points to the 1991 film, The Fisher King, directed by Terry Gilliam (= "Gill T") and its connection to Central Park, as I mentioned above (#easter-eggs message and in the Central Park thread: #1292617132764430369 message), I decided to watch the movie. There are several potential connections in the film (for instance, one of the lesser connections is a scene taking place at 101 Park Avenue being a possible link to Mendelevium), but the most important one was a scene that took place in NYC's Grand Central Station (or Grand Central Terminal as it's formally known).

Grand Central has multiple pieces of art that appear to connect to the hunt (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Central_Terminal_art):

1. The Glory of Commerce sculptural group rests atop the terminal's facade - The work includes representations of Minerva (#easter-eggs message), Hercules, and Mercury (= Hermes Trismegistus @sharp flame).

2. There is a 13-foot-wide (4.0 m) clock on top of the south facade. It features Roman numerals, and the number VI on the clock hides a flap that is used for maintenance. The clock has a "Tiffany-style" design - a link to diamonds.

5. As Above, So Below (#easter-eggs message), a work of glass, bronze, and mosaic in several Grand Central North passageways, was made by Brooklyn-based artist Ellen Driscoll in 1998. The mosaic's five scenes, each stemming from a different continent, depict myths and legends about the heavens that reflect life on Earth.

6. The Dining Concourse has 16 lightboxes - the first exhibition using those included a piece by Rob Ryans' titled There Is Only Time. Thomas Witte's 'Cutting Shadows' was also part of that exhibition, and those images seem to have the odd light-edges effects that have been seen on the art on the Las Vegas map recently.

It's been a long time since I watched it, but from memory, there's a key premise you have to realise about the main character part way through the film, and then it makes much more sense - I won't spoil it by giving that away. • Clip 2: "Well, that's the worst throw ever" "Do you have any fudge?" 1 line is worded very similar to MI lines, fudge was made popular in **New York **and by magazine The Sun
• Clip 3: Funnily enough Wally is also a character in Monkey Island
• Clip 4: "abandoning ship", "going south", "stranded", "the ship that sailed come back to rescue them", "that opponent lost at sea", "Maybe difficulties are just things to overcome, after all" Many stuff about sailing, and that last line is from Ernest Shackleton, an explorer which took part of the Discovery Expedition, and the race to the south pole ended in 1911
• Clip 5: "speaking of lost at sea, dread and their team" Dread is a Monkey Island character, interesting that they picked Dread's name for the opening line when technically the clip is from MarshallRawr (but would make sense as the action is from Dread)
