Depends on the how when and why of the situation. If it is someone not clearly in their right mind to recognize the wrong in what they did obviously I’d rather they get help first before determining anything further. I feel like locking them in a hostile environment and asking questions later will only worsen such a state and make it more likely to happen again. As for the first bit? I’d try my damndest. Granted my response is simply because of how I’ve been raised and how I’ve lived. It may not be the most logical but it means something to me. A life is a life regardless of how it was lived.
