I feel like the way that Emet speaks about things in 5.0, that he agreed with Azem's objections, but thought that the dire nature of the situation meant he had to go along with it anyway. I think that's pretty much the reason for the "split" you sometimes see in him where you can tell the "untempered" thoughts are breaking through.
