Generally in a frontlines environment there's nothing that's particularly bad, SCH is generally a job I'd recommend newer players not go into PVP on just because of how significantly different it is, everything else is pretty much fine though
Feast training isn't too likely to pop right now, unfortunately - Typically the pvp community will organize days to try and get 4v4 training to pop
This is dependent on your datacenter, though
AST is an easy to recommend healer for PVP, as is WHM. Keep in mind that in PVP it's almost the opposite of PVE - You want to primarily focus on healing because of how much damage can come from the enemy team.
Frontlines is typically recommended for first-time PVPers since it's larger scale and usually more laid-back versus Feast and you can get a more general feel for things

Oh, for sure, that's pretty common for first-time players. Only way to shake it is to dive in and just practice, everybody starts somewhere. It's also why I'd recommend frontlines over feast to get started, because while it's significantly more busy, it's a better environment to just get an idea of what to expect first before diving into a 4v4 environment, where there can definitely be higher expectations.
If you check out the pins, there's a few videos from Brian Ricardo who does a lot of newbie friendly videos and links to a few discords for more specific resources to help you get on your feet. It's different and definitely a love-hate thing - you'll either like it or you won't, but it's something that's worth giving a shot.

Yeah, unfortunately it being week 1 of a new raid tier, PVP tends to slow down quite a bit, but pops do happen. Might be a bit on the late side right now, though.
Also, queues are generally pretty dependent on what prime time is for your datacenter - Pops are much more likely around 4PM-10PM for the datacenter's local time, give or take a few hours to account for timezones

Oof, yeah. They made a change a while back, frontlines used to be able to pop with as few as 24 players total but they made it so it's 72 players and it really hurt off-hours queue times. Hope they shift it back at some point, folks who work night shifts really get screwed over by it.

PvP is fun enough but it's a mess and you can basically forget about the win rewards
Revival Wings is a good way of playing RW though, and RW is IMO the best mode

I have frontlines, wolves den, and rival wings unlocked.
Frontlines is the most accessible.
Frontlines is the only kind that gets any kind of consistent play if the community isn't making a concerted effort to revive something else because it's the only one with a roulette

It's honestly more fun when kills are a bigger part of the equation but shifting it to 1600 max and decreasing point shifts for kills put it more in favor of objectives

I concur, we have some active Crystal members that promote active training queues and custom matches. Even if it's considered a weak data center, we have community-minded individuals who want to see growth despite the overall opinion of PvP.

Do y'all macro nascent flash? I use the typical target party #2 macro for PvE but it doesn't work well in PvP because people don't like to stick together and love to be too far away, out of LOS etc
Can't speak for Nascent, but feast is one of the places in XIV where macros are outright recommended as preferable due to how important it is to be able to put abilities like that on the correct target. The Blackest Night, for example, is generally used with single button macros to cast it on your teammates without having to deal with switching targets off of enemies. Nascent is likely in the same boat.
What's generally recommended is that for anything you macro for use in PVP is to have it repeat the /pvpac line as many times as possible due to how they work.
In feast i would definitely do what simon said and have a separate nacent macro for each party member. In FL I manually target for it cause people split up too much and i don't want 7 nacent flash macros ._.
For the icon, do the same /macroicon (/micon) command but end it with pvpaction

So putting it multiple times is equivalent to spamming the button

@dense steeple Yeah, it's an issue specific to macros, regardless of whether it's PVE or PVP. You know how when you're rolling a GCD and push the next button just before the GCD is up and it automatically does the action when it can, keeping the GCD rolling? Actions called via macro don't queue in the same fashion at all, instead attempting precisely once to perform the action. If the action can be executed when the macro calls it, the action goes off. If it can't for whatever reason, due to animation/GCD lock, it won't, which is why you want the action in your macro repeated as many times as possible to raise the likelihood of your ability going off.

Using a macro is much faster than manually highlighting a player and then pressing the tbn/bene/protect/repost/ect unless you're a machine that can do it faster than the delay in gcd rolling

almost every game has all three teams mostly neck and neck
like a month ago it was practically always something like 1600/1200/400
man I said something positive about PvP so of course my next game has to be absolute shit
if they're going to have nodes be super RNG and have the map be so small you can't just ignore a team camping your spawn then they better nerf the shit out of battle hunger
adders fed the shit out of mael for the first 5 mins so they had a ton of BH5's then RNGesus handed 2 free rank S's to adders while mael was camping us
we were even with mael all game despite that and then lost 3rd by nearly 1000 points due to battle hunger being extremely OP and RNG handing adders 400 points
like we got most of the points in the early game, but mael was still within ~100 of us
that's how fucking hard adders fed them
or maybe they could make BH increase the amount of points lost and gained when you kill someone with BH 4-5
there needs to be some kind of comeback mechanic that isn't just hoping RNGesus hands you a few hundred free points

Btw do y'all use Protect or Largess for healers, generally speaking? I miss having Protect but Largesse helps people out of your party so it seems like the better choice
And I always have Attunement because nothing makes me laugh harder than some dickhead trying to melee ult me and do like 100 damage
It's also a natural counter to Holmgang

it's a nice break from other things
and wolf marks quickly become useless

I would say a lot of people didnโt know feast was active outside a season so they dont bother queing it
since itโs usually dead
but people also dont know anything about it so they would prefer to que fl or anything else
So on Aether what time should I be trying to do my daily PVP duty? I haven't done PVP before but looked at the glamour options for my favorite classes and some of those are very nice

Hey so, pvp in this game is really confusing to me and seems hard to get into, I did my first Frontline today and was just kinda running around clicking on things called "oovoo" and healing, but I just didn't understand much. Why do you have complete separate skills in pvp? What rewards are there for pvp and why should I do it? What's some cool stuff you can get for doing pvp?
Skills are completely separate in PVP to make balance easier. The main PVP rewards for non-seasonal stuff are glamour sets, hairstyles, mounts/minions, and some furniture.
The seasonal rewards are also exclusive rewards to those who place in the top 100 for their server(?)
Frontline is about being placed on 1 of the 3 GCs where you obtain objectives and fight the other gcs to steal their points and set them back so you and your gc have a chance to win
Frontlines has mounts and an outfit
you can look in the achievements window under pvp and filter out rewards, titles and mounts to see what you want
in Feast is a 4v4 pvp which is more organized around coordinating with your team to kill players and win by having the most medals then the other team
there is also mounts and outfits involved in feast, most you will see as a ranked season reward
you can find them in the achievements window or on google

Why is FL so awful.
I wish melee had to put actual effort into staying on top of enemies
dashes really should be one charge on a long cooldown, smart usage of bolt should be more important
it's practically impossible to peel dragoons and fucking monks
they used to have shorter range before 5.0
but their ranged got buffed so they can stick to people easier
back in 4.x it wasn't a problem since ranged had actual cc
mch for example with Blank used to also stun a target and not just push them away
and Bard's repelling shot binded people
but they got changed
mostly for the worst
but dmg/burst is up more often
so the solution is to just drain them of their defensives and potions
and they will die

if you're thinking about playing next season i would recommend going into pinned msgs and joining Pvpaissa
there you can receive advice and have people review your games

where my team is just constantly overextending and out of position when all oovs are taken and more are about to spawn. then your team gets wiped on the retreat and you miss out on the new oov spawns.

I would say it's just luck but it seems like people are consistently at least TRYING if you are willing to give them directions
I usually start by just linking a location for the first few node cycles and by that point we have a zerg established and it handles itself

I don't understand why the concept of "go where the enemy is going to go to deny or delay them capturing a point" is so difficult for people to grasp. Lost a game literally because we let team 1 get a largely uncontested node... while like 18 of our players were camping on top of an uncontested node on the other side of the map
We lost by less than 60 points during a big fight in mid... we could have won if we hadn't given them an uncontested 100 points
and all it required was people not be utter morons ๐
most people like to just sit on top of nodes even though you should just leave like 4-5 people to hold and cap and the rest move on to where they are needed to be
and also people think that nodes are more important than fighting so they just afk where they can and bother with any common sense
nodes are absolutely more important than fighting
because nodes are how you get fights you win
either because you pincer someone that's pushing a node
or because you occupy a node and they have to fight into your team to take it
both are advantageous for you
especially if you have a group that's good at chasing
people love leaving healers and tanks hanging out to dry when leaving an area
and it's hard as balls for healers to rack up BH since it's almost always via +2 assists

RNG is way too much of a determining factor in who wins when you can have an S rank plopped right on your doorstep
We fought hard and basically tied the game at about 1300 each
and then the game put an S rank right in front of our base
which means we get it by default due to invincibility buff
grats mael and adders, y'all fought hard and worked for those points but it doesn't matter because bad design says you lose
a B rank would maybe give us a tiny edge but it would mean that the last ~200 points for any team have to be from either kills or substantially outmaneuvering both other teams
and frankly those down to the wire games where the last 5-10 kills decide the order are amazing

How should I handle actually targeting someone in frontlines. Clicking is impossible because of the masses of people and particle effects, and tabbing takes forever to get through everyone
best thing you can do is tab target. I have mine set for conal, and to target people specifically you have to finagle the camera so that only those people are in view and in the right area to be targeted
like if I want to target a healer that's just behind the front lines you need to snap the camera down so just that healer and maybe some people in front of them are visible and then angle your camera so that you have as few people to tab through before the healer
alternatively you can make very heavy use of focus targeting but that's a lot of work for a zerg-based mode... works great for feast

healers are so utterly fucking USELESS at anything BUT throwing heals now
no utility skills, no damage skills
if your team is ass you're gonna have a bad time
compared to DPS with tons of mobility tools and, of course, damage, and tanks with good damage and tons of utility
hell, I'm usually in like top 3-4 healing for my team when I play WAR just by keeping NF on cooldown...

Rampart is generally seen as a given for all tanks
Weapon Throw is pretty mandatory IMO but it's really only amazing with WAR due to Holmgang
but just death gripping someone 10 feet back can mean they die
Alright, I was using the counter but I'll switch to rampart
@rotund seal nothing we can do about it man, blame SE for not giving enough of a crap to do what needs to be done. So many things they could do... FLs being 48 players instead of 72, PvP roulette actually rotating between all modes day to day, etc
it's really hard to pass up on Rampart because it has a short cooldown and isn't reliant on server lag like Reprisal is
Rampart+Counter is really good if you like to dive into enemy groups
I also think that most of the achievement/wins awards should just be Wolf Marks based, and they just implement something like the folklore tokens DoL uses to unlock legendary nodes. 1000 marks buys 1 token, you need 200 tokens to buy a mount... ta-da, there's your 200 wins required
except you still get to make progress towards the mount even if you come in dead last
I love diving in, but I reeeeally love picking off healers
WAR is unquestionably the best tank for picking off people
Weapon Throw + Holmgang is a guaranteed kill unless enemy healers are on the spot with dumping healing on that person
even then it can be a way of forcing cooldowns out of enemy healers
keep that in mind when enemy WARs are around too btw ๐
I play healer mostly but tank if we have too many
from what I recall, GNB and PLD are both pretty good at staying alive so Rampart+Counter and deep diving may be the way to go
WAR Holmgang pretty much sucks as a method of staying alive, it's pretty much exclusively meant to get kills, so WARs can end up feeding hard if they try to dive enemy teams
whereas the PLD can just Hallowed Ground and walk it off
I'm not sure on what healers are like now... I know SCH was said to be garbage in the last patch but I think they made changes to the class. I know AST has always been decent and WHM has been OP at several points

do y'all think there's enough people queuing for PvP for there to be a reasonably effective MMR system for the purposes of putting FL teams together? Like just going off of pure PvP rank, which isn't really skill but just sheer time invested/games played
Played 6 games today and almost every one of them was a stomp in one direction or another because it felt like one team was just utterly effing clueless
I had one game end with my team at 3 points...
and the game right before that I went 5-0-61 as a WHM and we won in something like 10.5 minutes because maelstrom fed us relentlessly

it's why NIN is, imo, still OP as shit
you basically just faceroll a few early kills with Assassinate "kill secures" and then snowball BH from there
Smite+Assassinate will quickly get to the point where you can just fold people like cheap plastic chairs when they're at like 40% lol
I usually try to snipe kills with lilies when I play WHM because there's such a huge difference with just a couple ranks of BH
a BH5 healer can basically tank most of a team as long as Purify is up to dispel the stun/bind etc
unless that team has a lot of BH4's and BH5's of course

map is WAY too goddamn small for 72 players, and RNG nodes is stupid af
here, team in 1st place by 50 points - have 2 uncontested nodes next to your base for +200 pts
because fuck having wins be about skill
and the map is so tiny the 2nd place team literally cannot contest the nodes because the 3rd place team that's trailing by literally -1000 pts cannot help but function as a speed bump
unless they somehow decide to just sit in base and do nothing
literally every single node past 10 mins should spawn in the center line and ONLY the center line
top center, mid, bottom center
it's way too RNG otherwise. That, or the only nodes that spawn outside of those locations should be for the team that's in 3rd place as a catch-up mechanic... that would be pretty nice

it's too easy for a blob of players to cover the map, and combined with how utterly fucking broken Limp status is, you can't just ride past idiots standing around in mid to go after objectives
almost every game I have ever played in OH results in 1 team winning while the second team is effectively just a speedbump for the third... in essence, it's like two teams are intentionally working together
it happens so often because you just straight up cannot ride past people in this game to focus on objectives
if your team is on the right and all of the nodes are west, or a node that's important (need to deny it so top team can't get ahead/win, etc) is on the west
you virtually cannot contest it unless the south team is basically AFK
because you'll run into them while trying to get there and Limp prevents you from just ignoring them
if Limp ended as soon as you dismounted maybe it wouldn't be an issue, you could just pop Bolt and try to get there
if your team is too out of position to get to a node in time to contest it, should just go and regroup in mid to be in a better position for the next spawns.

node spawns west. It's easy for the west team to get it, south team is presumably somewhere in between or contesting that node
so you can go west and then the south team will withdraw if they have the brains god gave a flea
and now you either stick in and get pinched
or you back off and west team gets the node uncontested

west, south, and east spawns should only ever be B rank
S ranks only along the middle line
and A ranks in between
you can usually contest the "near" west/south/east nodes

I don't know how PvP worked before Shadowbringers, but beside the Frontline duty there's no other way to spend wolfmark points to upgrade your character, like PvE content? I could see that hp and mp are fixed by roles...

Needs a f2p style battle pass that gets updated once or twice per expansion. With cosmetics, dev time that would otherwise be spent making frontlines maps that die after a week

PvP in FFXIV is awesome, I loved it, but what is worth doing it if I earn nothing from it.
Last time I did PvP was Seal Rock, and I remember the Frontline achievements had a cool looking gear set

I would enjoy more having a good progression if you wanna get serious on PvP and stuff, other than that there's no reason to do PvP, aside from glamour and mounts, you just do PvP, collect those misc items and you are done, there's no other reason to do that.
I find it sad because I really enjoyed the content and the gameplay. But there should be something more than player skill and strategy, something like getting weekly cap to get pvp gear, that could slightly increase your advantage in PvP.
progression is fun but losing because someone else has better gear than you never feels good. The stat equalization is perhaps my favorite part about ffxiv pvp, since I can switch to any job and still be on equal footing.

hello there - recently switched from WoW and I was wondering how pvp rewards work in this game? Also how hard is the learning curve for mages in pvp? - any answers are highly appreciated ๐
I do pvp for the cool fashion the pvp currency can buy, they also sometimes have pvp ranked events that give cool rewards but never tried it
PVE abilities are oversimplified compared to PVE ones so yeah, kinda lacking
@grizzled cipher there are titles and mount rewards from achievements in different frontlines maps, which are the equivilant to battlegrounds in wow.
There are also ranked pvp seasons in The Feast every so often, which is like a 4v4 wow arena mode with special rules. Most of the time they are done through solo queue so you don't use a set team. Everyone queues solo and gets matched up with 3 other random teammates based on their role and ranking tier. You get rewards and titles based off of your placement during the season. Top 100 on the data center gets a rare reward, which is a unique mount or armor set.

The wolf collar vouchers you accumulate each season are for the weapons only. The top 100 rewards are only available once. Can't obtain them again once the season has ended.

The full armor sets have always been top 100 exclusive. Otherwise it's just the weapons or titles.

In fls other players aren't good enough for a meta to matter honestly.
That said, for feast, pvpers argue about what is good, what is bad all the time, but everyone pretty much unanimously agrees that MCH is absolutely terrible.
You might get to high silver or gold with it, but once healers start reposing you, tanks start stunning you, range start silencing you, etc etc, during your burst it's fucking dreadful.
Unlike with other phys range's burst, when you go into burst, you're on a timer to use your shit in 5 seconds, get cced? You completely lose it, now you need 13 seconds to get it back again. At minimum.
As oppose to dancer, or bard. That can get cced and say 'w.e I still got resources to spend' and can save till next burst or keep spending (unless bard drops a song that is)
On top of this it has no 'get out of the shit zone' ability. Dancer has 3 dashes. Bard has a back step. Mch has blank which gets one person away from it
It's teamwide damage ability bio? Again out matched against saberdance which is a permanent 10% to your melee (most important damage dealer) Or bard's persistant 5% damage increase or 5% recast. Oh and you need to get close to land bio, other damage increases you don't... lol..
Then it's mitigation tactician 10% that lasts 15 on a 45% cooldown, which sounds good
But we are in a meta where people 'are more discouraged to hardswap because of potions'
and even so, nature's minne is up more, offers less mitigation, sure, but offers a healing up (even countering sch+drk bursts)

I'm new to PVP and I play BLM, but I have no clue what is even going on, All I see is people spamming "Hello" on quick chat and thats about it and at time idk who to focus, tips?
really depends on the mode you play
Uh, All except duel, I don't think BLM would even be useful in a duel
Usually, in Feast which is the mode you will experience quick chat usage in, Hello will indicate that the main form of burst contribution (stun or damage) is available and a Focus Attack quick chat input should follow after two teammates use it.
Of course, that's the ideal usage of it. Some users tend to abuse quick chat inputs for griefing and they should not be accounted for.
A black mage's burst is typically whenever you get a xenoglossy every 15 seconds, so ping hello every 10 seconds.
Also prime a thunder on what you think may be the target (usually who ever your melee is targetting) so you can get the thunder 3 proc
At a minimu you can fire, xeno, thunder 3 proc for a very easy 7k damage, without even having to throw in a phantom dart .
If you plan on sticking with playing range though, I suggest maybe checking out summoner or dancer, because positioning for black mage can be very difficult to get a hang on

Dragoon's damage, frequency of burst and aoe pressure is just absurd. A good dragoon can routinely pump out 300k + damage whereas any other job has to put in a lot of effort for 240k
And there's it's range, people make jokes about it being a range dps because it really can burst people without being in melee range.

Samurai has a big burst yes, but it doesnt have the frequency of burst that dragoon offers
in rw/fls you can make anything work, it's really not competitive
The frequent burst... they have about the same skill speed except that midare takes time to setup but he still have alot of dps options

drg does have higher damage potential than sam. There isn't a single top sam that can match the total damage output of top drgs. The numbers just aren't there. They also have an easier time keeping up damage output due all their ranged attacks. They don't have to be in melee range to do decent damage like sams do. Makes them very versatile.
That isn't to say a sam can't compete with a drg. They definitely can. There's a couple sams in the top 10 of the feast leaderboards, but there are more higher ranked drgs.

The Feast isn't a popular side-activity in this game, therefore you shouldn't expect regular queues. Your best chances are around the peak times most players are online, which are usually evenings on weekdays and more on weekends. Do keep in mind some days such as Tuesday (reset day) will most likely have players focused on other content, so queues might be much longer.
Another tip is to queue as a less popular role. This is usually the melee DPS or healer. Some matches might not start for very long times if there's a role missing.
Check if it's Solo Ranked season or not. During a season, players will be in queue for The Feast (Ranked Match). When it isn't season, The Feast (Training Match) will be the preferred option. Do not confuse this with Team Ranked Matches, as those require you to queue as a group of 4 people. Team Ranked seasons happen rarely compared to Solo seasons, so it is highly unlikely it will pop at all.

Pros and cons of War and PLD in feast/frontlines?
They have immunity tools that can help them stay alive when charging or retreating, warrior has a strong cleave and sustain tool to deal with groups, paladin can follow up damage on targets very well.
In terms of cons, it's mostly their inability to escape combat outside of major cooldowns but they also suffer from lacking individual agency to a degree (warrior needs a party member nearby to use their healing, paladin cannot mitigate for itself with Intervention and relies on being close to a target to begin their burst window.
In Feast's case, both struggle to match the power of Dark Knight in the current metagame and is an ENTIRELY different conversation than Frontlines where you can do basically whatever and find success.

Vulnerability and strong self and teammate sustain along with a really good CC move in Holmgang and a good gapcloser in Onslaught
Dark Knight is the only tank that beats it out due to the strength of healing down, TBN costing no mana and being better eHP when used later than %mitigation which needs to be applied BEFORE damage goes out, and high burst when cooldowns and resources are available.

It'll ebb and flow with these events
Warrior has the highest survivability but it needs teammates, resources, and at least 2-3 targets to get it going. Dark Knight can mitigate for itself with TBN, Dark Missionary is mitigation + heal actions increase which affects potions, along with Souleater combo being relatively decent sustain.
and Holmgang on Warrior is also the most frequent death immunity but it also has stricter conditions for maximization.
DRK doesn't die particularly faster than any other tank
Outside of immunity, but that's kind of moot since PLD's can be stripped off the moment its applied and warrior can just get stunned and bursted before it can press HG while offering no other forms of self-mitigation.
Either way, every target can effectively be globaled including tanks if you coordinate well with 4 people so you're trying to look more for the better offensive and defensive utility to prevent getting caught in those situations and DRK does the best job so far.
That's something entirely subjective. I personally don't like playing large scale for reasons I won't get into but I am able to enjoy it more when I queue with other players. Without other players, I just find ways I can impact the game based on where others are on the map. Sometimes, you get pretty hard losses but that can happen in any PvP game which is something you have to realize and not allow to mess with your mental.
ultimately, if you don't like it, don't play it. I know the completionist in people can get the better of them but don't ruin your enjoyment of the game over it IMO.
It's why I'm personally glad this event exists because I don't like doing beast tribe quests and I'm able to get mounts anyway.

How do you kill healers? How much damage I do vs how much they heal it's insane even with silence and forget it if their is more than one it seems impossible to kill anyone without out numbering them hard.

need a stunlock on them, and you need more than just one person. It's virtually impossible to 1v1 in Frontlines with all of the self healing potions people can get and how little damage you can do to anyone
basically reminds me of 1v1s in BDO with both people spamming mega pots so neither person dies, except you get far less stuns and staggers in here versus that other MMO
I'm not even talking about 1v1 I'm talking about as a team, I just had 3 people attacking this bard he got to 10% hp and then suddenly 50% and full in a second
it's silly they can heal this much
getting kills against healers relies on either putting out a high amount of burst damage in as short a window as possible so they have little time to react, or through sustained damage until they run out of cooldowns and potions and can't keep up with the damage output anymore.
Healers can heal someone to full in 2 GCD, but it's also possible for 2-3 people to kill someone in that window as well with coordinated damage. Battle high makes doing this much, much easier.
@icy oak Potions do 3k potency and up to 6k potency at low HP. In RW you have Battle High which boosts healing too. If you're not doing enough burst to kill them at low HP a smart player will just let you get them low then pot over and over to make the pots really last.
You're going to notice a massive gap between PvP players and PvE players in RW but it's rare that they really team up. Last night though there was a team of 4 top 100 Feast players, one being top 10, playing RW and even when they were just playing around they were wiping the floor with everyone. Likewise a few Feast friends and I also did a 4 man queue with a couple of us being top 100 and we were racking up kills like nothing on jobs we never play.

That depends, it's bad like BFA's PvP so they're similar there. If you're comparing FF14's PvP to WoW's general PvP then FF14 is a lot worse.
Even comparing FF14's PvP to a lukewarm PvP expansion like WoD, WoW would win every day.

@icy oak FL has Battle High like RW so their pots and heals will scale with stacks. It's not very balanced and is quite frankly the least balanced mode and the last thing you should focus on is picking people off unless you're a NIN or have 100 Battle High. Just focus on being where you're supposed to be mainly. What job are you?

The rest of the time you're just running around at max range putting DoTs on random people and spamming ED.
If you want to just murder people then NIN is better because their Assassinate is an execute that resets on kill, they additionally have the generic melee execute Smite.
You can just run around executing low HP enemies until you get 100 Battle High then every time you do a combo from stealth you get a free kill 1v1.

I love ffxiv pvp more than any other game tbh. I just wish more of us were interested as well so that queue times were always like they are now.
It's fun but we certainly have a few issues. The biggest issue and the one that will likely never be fixed is the tick rate of the game and subpar netcode. That loses a lot of players off the bat. Then we're kinda stuck in this vicious cycle where we don't have enough PvP players to justify big changes and we don't have many PvP players because we never get big changes. :\

Just wanted to share this. First time trying Hiden Gourge. And I suck 
I read guides, watch videos to prepare myself, but ones on arena it's chaos and I panic
The only good think about it that it can't be worse, and there is lot of room for improvement
PVP should be a little more complex and rewarded.
Hiden Gourge its very fun and isn't a clown fest like frontlines, 48 players are enough so melee classes can shine a bit more.
Yeah, I found FL is definitely a Tank and Ranged dps kinda mode. Playing Melee dps is difficult unless you have a huge zerg.

Melee is super strong in FL depending on the job. NIN builds Battle High absurdly fast for instance.
DRG is the highest damage job in PvP right now in general, MNK has some of the craziest burst with some Battle High, and SAM is just pretty strong in general.
Ah, I mainly do Random queue FLs so I guess they're not as coordinated.
Usually it's just a deathballs and if a melee leaves the ball that isn't a tank, they usually get clapped.
Nobody marks targets in FL so you can get away with things a lot.
The big thing to remember that you just never see in FL is that ranged is super weak.
Ranged does low damage and dies super easily.
A few games in Feast or a few 1v1s with a decent melee will show you that pretty quick, but most people in FL aren't really learning their jobs or anything.
Ah, aight. I play MCH in FL mainly so I can just stay back and attempt to pick off stragglers or move up to silence and cc healers.
I'll keep that in mind, I love DRG too so I'll give them a spin next time.

MCH plays pretty close to its PvE counterpart so you're probably doing that mostly correct, but I'm sure you've noticed how average it feels unfortunately.
We have 1 MCH on the combined NA top 100 boards in Feast right now. :\
And what makes DRG so strong is it's very hard to kill, extremely mobile, and its ranged attack does more damage than its melee combo.
It can drop burst after burst and it can drop its full burst combo from range.
Also a lot of its skills do AoE damage.
Your 2 hardest hitting skills both hit in AoE. lol

Melee on FL is to risky mostly because you have healers that can't heal or are always away from you or alliance healers that find hard targeting people from other parties. Indeed DRG/NIN and MNK have crazy damage but those jobs mostly shines when you are stomping both alliances.
You really don't need a healer, especially as DRG.
When you have Bloodbath + an AoE burst combo you can heal to full in 1 hit.
