why miqo angry

1⃣ 1⃣

just stupid question about dancer in PvP cause havent tried it yet. was it nerfed cause the job was too strong in PvP?
It was nerfed because stacking dancers in PvP let them dance for a few GCDs then just stack their strongest AoE ability to wipe an alliance
oki I see
Is training or ranked Feast more active?
Training since there's no ranked season right now.
thanks
no prob
where should someone stsrt with pvp? Is there a community guide you guys would point to?
Check out the pins @amber escarp some good starting places there
Does Frontline and feast give good exp if so which is more efficient
Feast since you're more likely to win i'd say
Get yourself a non pepega duo queue partner
go pro
Rival Wings popping on EU right now (NA later) for anyone who wants to join/bored with PvE
(50 tomes per game)
A lot lol
It's pretty good XP. I'm hoping to get a few MCH levels from it today
you're on crystal right?
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/427457937280073739/602501636811784203/ffxiv_dx11_2019-07-21_21-06-21.jpg i wish somehow shout is disabled on frontline
do people still do Feast right now? i need 8 wins for the last garo mount ):
Que up feast training match during your data center prime time
It should pop
Training, not ranked
Ranked is dead
cool, will try it out
Training matches count ?
Yes
Training feast game count towards all the feast achievements
Including the garo mounts
also wondrous tails?
Would assume so
I don't do WT myself to confirm but I'm like 95% sure it would count for WT
yes it does
That's good to know 😊
Rival is not a thing anymore? I really want that gorrilla mount but the q is forever 😂
I believe it only pops on weekends via community que events
does pvp also have a trinity ?
Feast has role requirements, casual modes do not
Casual modes?
I think you meant Frontline doesn't have role requirements
Feast does
For Crystal at least Rival wings is done Friday and Saturday at 8 pm Eastern I believe
I just realized how late I am

Yeh that's for all 3 NA data centers
this game mode sucks LUL
i want to rip my hair out playing healer
if it is true that the season starts next week holy fuck this mode is going to be a joke
i cant believe people still complain about healer being OP too
Healers just gotta lean on their team being able to secure kills instead of dragging matches into culling by virtue of having whm level maze of defensives
healers are so bad now that the meta strat will be about trading kills and medals efficiently to save on cooldowns, MP and pressure but if the optimal way of winning means just having to let teammates die to save your resources there is something fundamentally wrong with the game mode
I think best case scenario is healers get some defensives back or make a point of taking the defensive additionals and end up leaning on their team more
Someone said it really well, healers shouldn't be able to sit at 80%+ winrate in a team game
But overall right now I think 4v4s slingshotted from the 4.0 defensive navigation heavy game to trying to shift focus on to melee/ranged/tank offensive cohesion
Queue training and don't queue range
Season isn't starting, no
And I'd disagree, it's just very different atm. I think the running thought is making current defensive abilities a bit stronger, bring WHM and SCH (poor SCH) up to AST levels, and either make heavy medals have parity with light medal percentages or touch on that system somehow and it'll more or less be in a good state
even with long CC durations, tanks have significantly better ability to make plays whether through good application of their toolkits or outright damage, melees in general feel like they play way quicker and don't have to navigate the BS maze that was end of 4.X whm's defensive toolkit, ranged jobs overall feel like they have a lot more to contribute to a team
It's Just Different ™
hi
are these sets still obtainable?
specifically Pack Wolf
or does anyone know if there is a similar looking set maybe
I am 90% sure you cannot get them anymore, that was a season 1 reward.
feelsbadman
Gone dude 100%. Good idea is to start doing PvP competitively so you can get future rewards.
what do you mean
yeah, I had started doing that but then changes happened and now AST doesn't feel as fun anymore...
having a hard time getting into pvp again >< wonder what healer to learn
You have to wait for a event to get rewards?
Like if we play pvp now it wont work towards anything?
Playing with randoms made me salty today .. I’m not the best player but I’m good enough to be always ranked in top 3 each match
Spamming for garo mounts
Only jobs I'd say you'd want to avoid are PLD and SCH, everything got shifted around and it's more or less up in the air since we haven't had a proper season to see how it plays out yet
Whats the best way to get 4k wolf marks as someone who has never done pvp
Do a frontlines roulette a day
as monk with earth tackle, are you able to knockback ppl off a ledge? like cliff
?
He means PLD is pretty weak in Feast right now

when in the patch cycle do they normally update the pvp npc vendors?
no set time
Heavy medal and light medal removed from feast O_O
Like that mode seems like the similar game mode in Warframe , where the more medals you hold the more difficult it is to bring them back home safely.
Seems kind of weird to remove that feature, I feel like that is detrimental to the gamemode itself in a way.
Veterans of 4v4 feast will tell you the exact opposite. They were a major issue to play around and resulted in a lot of matches being swung in the last minute due to how much of an impact heavy/light medals were. Similarly, at high levels of team play, some teams would explicitly not pick up medals because doing so would put them at a disadvantage.
The medals are still there, but the buff/debuff to damage received has been removed so that picking up medals doesn't make the person holding them a liability, just a valuable target.
oh okay nice.
Yeah. Also, kind of a big deal since 4v4 players have been basically begging for their removal since they were introduced
I mean yea but they strip it's Identity away
😢
But like
I can't wait to see some inexperienced healers complaining that they keep getting focused on because they are easy targets since they will keep dying fast without light medal buff
I see cons and pros with it
nice now I don't have to beg my team to pick up medals
You still need medals to win
You just won't be at a disadvantage for winning anymore. You can also pick on the weakest link in the enemy team
Every bad loser ever:
I'd argue that with medals being identified as something that, at the highest end, are a mechanic that you don't want to interact with all the time unless you can close a match out, it's better that the heavy/light debuff/buff are gone. Means in a match that picking up isn't an active detriment and nukes things like intentional sacrifice early in a match to drain healer resources and swing back later in a match are out the window and can't be taken advantage of.
uh
Uh
Congrats!
Grats!
now kill more people
!loadstone behemoth Liixer Graffigna

So, any melee and tank at Frontline now is great
so I want to start getting into pvp (namely Rival WIngs) to grind out the robot gorilla mounts. is there a scheduled time to queue for Hidden Gorge?
I dont really participate myself but they run rival wings for a couple of hours on Saturday and Sunday
Looking for a warrior coach for pvp. I'm clueless and I can't find a good guide since the updates

Sorry if it was one of my bad matches lol, still getting used to Paladin and PvP since ShB, was focused on crafting before
The one that we're B alliance
Where do I go to participate in rival wings?
^ this..
I wanna play but have absolutely zero idea where in the game to que for pvp and rival wings 😂
I mean I wanna try everything the game will throw at me at least once.
I'm now dying to try rival wings. I had no idea there was a moba in the game. That makes the game so much more exciting to me
I don’t understand it though. It’s like a MOBA where we play as our characters
Yeah that's amazing
So it’s kinda the same thing at the minion thing Vermillion then right? Or am@I missing something.
No idea. Never played it
Hmmmm
This is the rival wings map
There's 2 levels to the map. There's tunnels and then the top part
I'm assuming that's only for mid lane
Tbh I just looked into it I think I would like verminion better lmao
question about what time does the frontline usually become active? Its queue times are usuallt 15-20 plus when i try it out
It took me 3 years to remember/find out where the general vendor is for the place and I have alot of stuff I need to buy
indian fusious basically
minions spawn at main base, and run down lanes
and attack each other stowers
theres resources strewn around the map to let you summon pilotable mechs at the console (think like the magitek armor in praetorium but BETTER), also enemy mob camps to kill and convince to your side
@cursive valley
So I choose maelstorm but I play for immortal flames in frontline....
It's supposed to be like that?
Doesn't really matter with freelancer
I don't think I have done anything to change it, I just started to play a few days ago. How can I play as maelstorm?
pvp'd for the first time today was fun, but clearly a lot to learn. Didn't seem as bad as people make it seem. At least from a mnk perspective.
So what time would people be playing Rival Wings on Jenova?
@lofty vault If you're Maelstrom you might want to consider leaving the freelancer option activated for shorter queue times. Winning or losing usually depends on the individual team you end up with anyway. yes, even full mael teams can be garbage xD
@normal tinsel to answer your question on wolf marks. You get 1000 from the roulette first time, then you play either frontlines or rival wings. Each win should get you 1000 or near more
Im only doing pvp for that sweet sweet garo mount before it disappears in 5.1
Quick question. I have noticed that SCH is not in such a great spot right now for PvP
So I was wondering - between WHM and AST - how are they doing? I feel like AST is healing a bit easier than WHM...
Both are valid options
Whm playa like a god, and astro does too if you know what you're doing
But a good blm will always be able to kill you
Especially if theyve got back up from a tank or healer
But if you wanna do healing i'd say astro is a good start
Being able to buff teammates with short healing cast times
Alright, thanks a bunch ^^
No problem, if you have anymore questions im sure people will be able to help you as well as im kinda new to pvp but i know what im doing ^^
@remote merlin @sudden oasis Thanks for helping
No problem ❤️
reminder that it's Rival Wings day today and tomorrow for Crystal and Light (8 PM EST/5 PM PST for Crystal, 6 PM ST/GMT for Light)
Aether, Primal and Chaos also on Saturdays with the same times for NA and EU respectively
no need to party up but it's more fun if you do
So what makes SCH not good for PvP? Not planning on leveling any other jobs right now, except maybe SMN.
SCH lacks healing compared to other classes I would say
He has a nice shield, but everything is too slow on him
Scholar can only have seraph out for a limited time
^ that as well
Monk is a more useful healer than scholar in pvp
So far ive found blm, mch, drk and whm the best classes that ive played
Not tried the others
@thorn ocean so queue for rival wings more than frontlines today?
@orchid fable if you want to play Rival Wings instead of frontlines, then you can queue at those times
I don't know how fast frontlines pops but there's probably still a frontline game running at the same time as RW during those times
So played a shatter, fought a full premade Team, they ignore the capture points and shatter crystals and just won on kills
Something there might need to be looked at if that is more common
Each kill takes points away from the other team, by rushing with full alliance ive seen whole other teams win
@frozen parrot PvP being rewarded in a PvP mode seems fair to me
So im trynna figure out which GC wins the most on Light server, its between maelstrom and immortal flames
i have a full garo set how come the priest wont give me the makai title
do i need to have the garo weapon? Edit: i do
Yeah you need the whole left side
Im not sure about Paladins though because they've got a shield but ive not seen anytging saying they need the shield
I think they do because the sword+shield together cost the same as a weapon for other classes (haven't tried it myself yet though)
is frontline the fastest way to farm for garo?
I personally found feast faster because the matches are shorter
I only did the daily FL roulette each day in addition to feast. But I already had the 10 Frontline wins from back in 3.x when the event launched

Yeah feast is better if you just want the gold and black mount
so I've been dicking around a bit in PVP to grind marks for garo
what, precisely, should I be focusing on as a solo player in frontlines because it always seems like my teams are disorganized as hell
and as a melee, what are the best extra actions
I would say any that silence so you can stop the healer quicker, as a blm on fl i use phantom dart and drain with a sleep spell to make them stop
also, should I just just change to mael if I want to win in frontlines
No
There's no guarantee that mael will always win, you've better luck going freelancer
Unless you only see mael win on your data center which i would find hard to believe tbh
If you dont mind paying the 50,000 to change GC if its your second time round go for it. But also dont forget to do feast for goten and raigo. Goten needs 30, raigo needs 60 of both. After getting ginga and goten 20 or more feast runs should land you the last mount ^^
so far they've been consistently winning
If you know that they're the best on your DC then switch, but you do have until 5.1 to do the achievments which isnt a huge rush tbh. Since from what happy says it should be mid october
It depends on the players who end up in the mael team. Even if most of an adder or flames party consist of freelancer maelstrom people, they don't magically win which they should do going by the logic that mael always wins.
Frontlines are random at best
Question: I’m still leveling and reaching the end of storm blood , but I ofc enjoy pvp shall I play it at my level cap or I can start doin some actions ?
Before reaching shb
You can PvP starting from the moment you unlock your job at level 30
Your pvp profile has some of your end tier abilities and an easier way to fight. Like after casting fire black mages can go straight into fire iv and after a while cast two xenoglossy
Good! I’ll try pvp when I return from holidays 😎
is pvp fun in this game?
i ask because imo the combat stile of this game not fit very well on pvp, and that is just my humble opinion, i never try before more that a couple of time and was terrible, could be wrong.
PvP really isn't that much of a focus in this game, and it shows. It's generally avoided except for purposes of obtaining glamour and mounts. It certainly has a lot of need for improvement but whereas most of the community cares more about PvE, it's unlikely to really get enough attention to bring it up to par with other games level of PvP.
I'll disagree- it has blemishes, but for 4v4s at least, there's a fun game there and they've made some pretty big strides lately to shake it up as of this expansion pack. There's a very large amount of people who are apathetic towards the mode except for the sake of glamour and mounts when there's plenty of fun to be had and relatively small but dedicated groups devoted to it - you get out of it what you put in, IMO.
FWIW, PVP combat skills may be the same in name and animation but tend to work vastly differently than PVE counterparts. As of 5.0 they shifted things around pretty dramatically and 5.1 is going to see even more changes.
Honestly I'm loving PvP as it is right now. I'm dreading 5.1 though with Yoshida mentioning we'll get 16 abilities or something. I don't do 4v4 arena battles but the large scale PvP matches are really fun and the only thing that might need to change is the healers need 2 new abilities for AOE healing.
Like WHM could get Afflatus Rapture and Assize, Scholar with Indomitability and a Succor that doesn't give AOE shield, no idea on AST since I haven't played it much yet
Helios and or aspected helios
PvP is fun. Or not could not be fun. Try it out and make your own opinion from it. Don't listen to those saying "PvP sucks" because it's mostly said by people they haven't played beyond a few Frontline matches and they never bothered to learn how to play. Chess isn't fun either of you don't know what the pieces do.
The best thing you can do is use your own brain and figure out for yourself if it's fun. Just be sure you understand that it's completely different from PvE so you need to come with the same mindset you had in Sastasha. That is; you're new and should take every bit of advice you can get and not blame other folks for losses.
Being new in PvP is the best time because there's SO much to learn that no match is ever a waste. There's ALWAYS something you could do better.
Don't get me wrong. PvP needs changes, but that's EVERY PvP game. Point me to a PvP mode where folks aren't asking for changes.
Also I'm looking forward to 5.1 and I hope it increases the skill gap. I'd love for it to be as big as 3.x but I doubt they'll go that far.
There's no reason top Feast players here can't stomp a team of unranked. Top 500 OW, League or whatever will stomp low ranks. Shit my plat play in OW will probably stomp new players even.
Just a little message about the frontlines and the different style game modes and their counterparts in ither games. Hoping this helps anyone new to PvP Frontlines. (FEAST is just team death match with points)
Seize - king of the hill
Shatter - capture the flag
Secure (i cant remember if thats it im not on at the moment) - interception
(However in each game mode you almost always have a starter base that must be kept to help gain points quicker)
Hope this helps 😁
i think healer's aoe is:
whm: afflatus rapture
sch: seraph's consolation
ast: horoscope
I am guessing it's impossible to solo a healer without a melee LB?
Unless something specifically goes wrong (i.e. catch someone completely by themselves with no healer to help them, or the healer is already dead) you're not going to solo anybody by design
Dragoons can sometimes solo the healer due to gettong 4 diff jump attacks and stardive
3 jump, 1 spineshatter i believe
Only a bad healer can get killed solo

Good thing that feast is filled with people trynna get their garo titles and have no clue what to do half the time

Can't wait for 5.1. Garo farmers will be gone and we (hopefully) get good PvP changes
Hey
Garo got me into it in the first place
And is gonna make me stay
I love how people sometimes try to kill me for the whole match and don't manage to
And still continue
Garo I'm sure got some new blood into PvP. Once it's gone those folks will stay and the folks only grinding for Garo Will leave and we should get better matches
I've actually been collecting a few screenshots from people in twitch chats and discord saying 'now that I've tried it I enjoy it'
say what you want about him but fahros did a lot for pvp
Yeah that's the main point i was trying to make lol. People shit on PvP without even making their own opinions on it lol
and getting interest, too bad he didnt want to learn
If people give it an actual shot it's actually fun lol
Does having fun mean it's good though
I mean, if you have fun, does it matter if it's good or not?
But I guess looking at it from the other side it's intimidating to get into PvP. So when they try it and get stomped it looks like an impossible mountain to climb. It's easier to say PvP sucks and move on lol
Although, I really do think rival wings and shatter are awful.
Seal rock is amazingly fun
Also damn you. I planned to watch some anime or crap on my way to cologne and now you got me talking pvp @amber escarp
Rival wings should be deleted
I think RW is more fun then FL. It's constant fighting
PvP is better than anime
It's as infuriating as proper Mona games
Moba
I'm only doing RW to get the mounts and never touch it again
Don't think of it as a moba though. Think of it was RW lol
It makes me feel like I'm playing league of legends. And that's a bad thing
People ignore huge mexhs walking straight through the center to your crystal
It forces constant PvP. Good players get rewarded with soaring. It just has a lot going on and new players , again, see an impossible mountain to climb lol
And then you lose just like that
That's the community issue like I said. Not a mode issue
Most PvP problems can be solved if the community actually learned how to play lol
And I don't find controlling mechs fun at all
You should use your classes and not a machine
I never use mechs lol. But I like them. They give bad PvP players a way to participate
RW literally has everything you need for good PvP. Good PvP players can play on foot. People with bad PvP mechanics can use a mech
It's literally the perfect casual PvP mode
People just need to learn the mode
And the Merc does too much damage imom the focus on him should be two sides fight ing for him and each other. Not getting one shot by a pve mob
Man, I get what you're saying but losing in RW is the worst shit ever
like, you're just held hostage
for 15 minutes
Yea
As shit wittles away
Yeah but again that's a community problem lol. That happens in FL too. RW you can come back
I've seen a lot of crazy comebacks
In FL it's hard to comeback. RW you can do it with good play
Also no "rng"
FL has this rng issues
Both teams have equal opportunity to get to the objective
So it literally comes down to the community being bad and deciding to throw PvP away "it sucks" instead of learning lol
That's why the mode with the drones on the mountain is probably the best rw
No random nonsense
Shatter is my fav one atm in frontlines. Generally people can do it better than seize but most of the time its not
Hell even feast is fun with the right players
I think shatter is OK... But not because I like the way it plays out. I just like that most players understand at least the basics (kinda?) of the mode
Yeah
While the other FL maps are a bit more complicated so you get more
running around
I prefer seal rock when it was new and it was full of good PvP players
Rather than in secure they run around aimlessly losing us points
Or at least had more good PvP players, or folks that actually aimed to improve lol
Is astragalos gone for good?
Not sure! Although Hidden Gorge is generally agreed to be better
Yeah SE locked it when Hidden Gorge came out. Not sure when they're planning on unlocking it. I'm assuming they're changing the map to be similar to Hidden Gorge then they'll probably rotate it like they do with FL
Hopefully a roulette comes with this
Feast roulette? I'm not sure I'd want to force ranked onto people. Now if they're a general PvP roulette and training got mixed in I could accept it. Or maybe PvP roulette that rotates to a different mode daily. Make Feast Training require 2 wins to get the rewards to get people to actually try
Rival Wings popping on all three NA data centers. QUP
Frontlines "Tips" = Avoid actual PvP at all costs, focus objectives, immediately disengage from literally any battle and most importantly, NEVER attack the leading team. Just attack anything that moves and that's closest to you. If it's the 2nd or 3rd place team? Who cares about winning PvP. It's a video game, just have fun...
Shatter Tips = If a small ice spawns, you must send the entire alliance to that one ice to make sure you get that 70 points. If no ice, stack at 🅰 and wait for another ice to spawn. Avoid combat. In the emergency event that the enemy tries to attack you, retreat back to base ASAP, disperse, and die. Never wait for back-up in respawn while the enemy is present because they have your base and they're getting points! You MUST jump right into the mob to defend your base
who cares about winning pvp
those who want garo mounts?
for me i don't care at all cuz i need to farm kills rn lol
Spineshatter jump > fang and claw rotation > jump > elusive > jump is what i use as a drg in pvp feast
@rugged bison you won't find guides for 1v1 specific. Check pins and go to pvpaissa dragoon section for help.
Thank you
No problem ! The guides are outdated. The FAQ in pvpaissa explains why but the tldr version is that 5.1 is bringing even more changes so writing a guide with only half the info would be silly
Plus we haven't had a ranked season so no one can truly grasp how the changes are working out because training is... Well it's training lol
how do u gain aethercharge in pvp as smn ?

Maybe wanna do a text title and unembed the videos if you do that so it doesnt take up a heckton of space
Great videos there to show people
Is Aether experiencing a 90k issue? I've been trying to play Frontlines and I'm getting 90k'd at least 2-3x a match
It's freaking annoying
And it steals my battle buffs!! Grrr
guys, is this the place to look for a party?
Were you asking me Envi?
This has been my luck with Freelancer lately
All right going to try PvP for the first time later tonight. Hope they have some kind of in-game tutorial since the content online is pretty dated.
No tutorial like half of novice. Check out pvpaissa and revival wings in pins @placid juniper
Thanks.
PvP in ffxiv can be pretty simple if just going for the feast which is just team deathmatch. Its frontlines and rival wings that confuse people
They all confuse people. Also I disagree.
Feast has a lot of mind games going to it. So on the surface it looks easy but in reality at a high level it's anything but simple.
Not that PvP in general is difficult at all. Folks just need to actually think
Simple at the start is good enough for me. Just looking to give it a try and get the garo gear, and see where we go from there
If you want the garo gear i recommend just doing frontlines if you win thats 1000 wolf marks, 2nd place 750 marks and 3rd 500 marks
Took me about a day to farm my silver wolf and golden wolf sets
A day each*
ez gg
Gz

So all the gear given by the disreputable priest is the Garo stuff, and everything else is no priority atm since it isn't going anywhere?
Looks mad expensive.
Yeah it's not going anywhere. Only things that are temporary are Garo and Feast top 100 rewards
Well I just did the "training match" and yo this thing is super crazy. Like, everyone moving seemingly twice the speed as I am and things dying and no information at all about what is going on and Christ that's not how you get people to want to play your mode.
And 250 seals. So what, 99 more to go to get all the Garo :)
I saw the pins but those were to Discords. Nice, but not going to help as much as a written walkthrough are better yet a video.
Also I wasn't allowed to use the chat function which was weird
You realize those discords have those written guides you want right?
Also @wary nymph has his videos pinned too
PvP isn't as easy as most of the game. You need to put effort in to understand and enjoy it
Guess I'll do the search.
Also be sure to read my sage advice posted earlier
Could you be more specific?
She's being sarcastic
MALINA HI
@placid juniper no for a full garo set you need 14k-18k wolf marks
HIII BRIAN!
For a single set of it yeah. Which is reasonable. I was thinking about getting all of them despite being a new player, but that's probably pretty re-gosh-darned diculous. My completionist mindset doesn't let itself well to MMO
Well no actually if you go solver and gold. Then either mnk and sam or the healer/caster/ranged phys sets can net you between 2/3 titles
It took me a couple days but ive got paladin, ninja, scholar and whm titles so far
If you're a completionist you won't ever complete FFXIV
Lots of items locked behind top 100
laughs in feast season mounts
Don't forget all the MogStation and contest stuff
Oh yeah I'm not a true completionist, but I am a total sucker for limited time things
And Garo is a spiritual cousin to Kamen Rider
I just done the garo thing for goten. Might go for raigo. Who am i kidding im defo going for raigo i may not like the way he looks but its a sweet mount
Dont want ginga so not doing frontlines as 4v4 is more my thing
What's the secret to playing the feast other than to pray you get matched with competent people against incompetent people.
Bonus though, someone usual quits and the match is over if there is a clear winner and loser at the 1 minute mark, soat least you don't waste s lot of time losing like being on Frontline as the flames.
Use macros and the quick chat to help communicate
The fact that most of the time you will be matched with competent players
PvP is all about communication and map awareness
Whenevrr i join the strat .ost people use is burn out the healer, then melee then ranged then tank
Sometimes its ranged then melee but it depends on what youre up against like a drg or blm, keep the blm on their toes and kill the drg
@orchid fable that's typical what I do, if the healer is alive, focus on killing the healer
@orchid fable that's typical what I do, if the healer is alive, focus on killing the healer
And use the quick chat to tell my team I'm doing just that. Has been working about 1 in 4 matches
Been doing ninja lately, and found that a combination of trick attack, jugulate, and assassinate is almost always enough time to burn down the healer before they can heal themselves
Then, kinds faff off and keep him occupied after he respawns until I get help or those are off cool down
Though every time the healer heals themselves they aren't healing someone else, so it's still helping I suppose
@acoustic olive focusing on it healer isn't exactly a good idea. It's good that you're taking the lead but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you're new yourself. If you want to truly win more you need to improve your shot calling.
Tunneling healer only works vs bad healers. That's why you're having so much trouble: the strat only beats other new players
I am, probably done about a dozen matches total of feast.

PvP and feast especially aren't for everyone. A majority of the types of players attracted to FFXIV don't have the right mindset for it
You're supposed to go for the melee or ranged/magic DPS first. Although with all the new buffs in HP melee keeps getting, ranged are mostly like wet toilet paper and drop instantly
A DRK can drop a ranged's HP by 1/3 with just one Bloodspiller and Edge of Shadow. Assuming Sole Survival and Full Swing is up
I'm not in the PvP game anymore but all I know is that attacking healer first hasn't been a thing for a long time. Unless the healer isn't that good. Which would mean you would already have to know beforehand that they're easy to take out
tank is good but it goes shit when melee started to LB you
I mean considering most players in feast rn are just there for the mount so really going for the healer then dropping everyone else can work. We'll see how people change as it continues as there's no season atm
Ranged are like wet toilet papper but thats not the best strat
I forgot the season wasn't going lol
I just find as long as the healer is alive, and in range, it is almost impossible to burn anyone's hp down since healers are an almost infinite spring of hp
You're probably going up against actual Feaster healers if that's happening
If I can bait someone far enough away from the healer I can sometimes get a kill, otherwise it all feels futile
Not to mention the damage mitigation tanks have to take 0 damage when getting mobbed, makes them even harder to kill while they seem to have nearly the same damage output as a dps. But might not be able to burst as much, I guess?
Donno, looked at my stats last night, 2 dozen matches, starting to understand how it works, might be getting better?
It's training so I wouldn't judge the mode just yet
I've seen a dark knight solo 3 dps and kill them all with no assistance in Frontline though, so...
You can group up with literal Top 5 players or brand new players
Thats because dark knight is a beast
DRK is OP
Like drk and gnb are 2 of the most OP pvp tanks
Warrior is alright but i dont play it so cant comment. Paladin is like oooh look i can swing my sword and cast heallly ness
Plunge with the cooldown reset is just way too good
All you need to do is tag a player and when they die, tag the next
Delirium +quietus = big dick energy
I just wish there was something else to spend MP on. Quietus is cool and all but Edge of Shadow isn't gonna help much if you're in a position where you can use Quietus
And you should never have too little MP for Blackest Night
I'm super curious to see what they have planned
It'll be super weird at first
But i expect another aoe attack i guess
For all tanks for a bit of cc
I'm just wondering how it's going to affect the playerbase that isn't deep into PvP. They fought for years to get the abilities cut down to the current number. When they go back up to 16, will those people quit and PvP be dead..?
I don't want PvP to be dead
I just hope no one complains too much
I still wish we could go back to HW though
I dont think people will complain. We can just wait and see how the next feast season plays out
I wonder how pvp queues will rise when 5.1 comes and garo goes out. I've loved how quick queue times are currently but they used to be bad before the first announcement came of garo going away
trying my best, 2 feast wins so far 😄 I haven't played feast since it came...
@zenith barn we can be pvp novices together
I just play training and curse at my monitor for my team that 95% of time sucks... lot of people doing it, lot of beginners as well :/
not that I'm pro, just have done some digging to maybe increase my chances to get those victories 😮
In Feast Training there's almost always at least one Feaster in there and that's enough to make a newbie team lose xD
2 of them on the same team and that's an automatic loss
second win for today \o/
The skill gap is pretty huge
at this rate I will get that mount 😛
Oh, is ranked play "more fair" when it is available?
Since you don't get put up against those ringers, hopefully
Kinda. Because alot of people are scared off by the idea of ranked play. Plus, all the Feasters gather and play at the same time. So you end up with entire teams of them even in Unranked-Gold
But that doesn't mean it's easier to win
Yeah, outside of "primetime" hours it can take forever to get a match, but there is never more than a 10 minute wait between 4 pm and 11 pm pst on primal
Yeah it's not that bad. But within the first couple weeks of a season you gotta keep queuing to keep up
Oh, if you get left behind in the ranking it's harder and harder to get matches I take?
Yeah. Because everyone else is moving up in rank and eventually their ranks will be too high for you to even get a match with them
There will still be newbies in the lower ranks but queues will definitely be longer
haven't played ranked in seasons so just a hunch, low ranked people are mostly people who try for fun and then forget so there are not many low rank players active to match against
Platinum-Diamond is the sweet spot you want to be at if you want to get good queues for the whole season
Watching old PvP videos and they talk about customizing your moves and getting AP to level up your moves. Is this still a thing? I had thought that the moves you get at the start of PvP are what you will always have.
Meanwhile I am going to stay in Bronze and below so i can be with fellow potatoes. I'll read a book in queues or something
That got deleted in HW unfortunately
Basically in the past there was a Rank/Level Up system and with every PvP match(Frontline, Fold, or Feast) you would get PvP EXP.
You could get up to Rank 50.
Back then we had all PvE skills AND a bunch of extra PvP skills and traits available to us in PvP. All jobs had their own unique PvP skills.
And when you ranked up, you got skill points which you could then put into the PvP skills/traits to upgrade them.
Like increased range, increased crit %, lower cooldown, etc.
PvE gear and PvP gear stats were also included in PvP. So stats mattered.
Again... unfortunately the ENTIRE concept was deleted when 4.0 came out :(
Literally everything just went poof*
We even used to be able to use items like Potions, Poisons, Sleep/Paralysis Potions, STR/DEX/INT/VIT/MND/PIE potions, and the PvP feathers too! But those weren't allowed in Feast.
And there was an 8v8 Feast mode. All of that was deleted in SB too
.<
It was super hectic lol. The original Feast maps(THAT WERE ALSO DELETED) had two versions. Normal version which was for 4v4 and the big version which was for 8v8 and it was basically an bigger version of the map to accommodate for the extra players.
That, along with the Feasting Grounds map, Lichenweed map, and our best friends, the Offensive and Defensive Supplies were also, of course deleted in SB.
We actually still had it in 4.1 but it was gone by 4.2
Now the only map is Crystal Tower
😭
Does the feast go faster if you're already in a party?
I'm guessing but I ain't sure, since I don't know if it's the timezone
It is a different queue against other groups only, so probably not?
HOLD UP
i aint reading 80 messages
but did someone say they saw a drk solo 3 people
LOL
that's fucking pepega lol
I did, I seen it with me own eyes
Even discounting I was one of the three (and I'm terrible) I was still doing damage to him
Peppa what are you doing in my video game ahaha
I had not, going to watch some tonight, looking forward to maybe playing rival wings too, since that other discord possibly arranges matches?
What discord?
The rival wings one
hey does the mgp garo sets also count toward full sets to get the titles?
Not sure if they do. I'd assume they do not
@acoustic olive yes we schedule weekly rival wings runs
Radical, it looks interesting for at least a novel try
Talking about the old days of PvP takes me back to the time in 4.1. When Feast still had the Feasting Grounds and Lichenweed. The original SB version of WHM was still in where it had Benediction
That was my favorite version of WHM by far. It felt so satisfying and I was able to click with it
I was actually really good with that version but then they changed it and I just... wasn't that good lol
@acoustic olive no they do not
Yeah, can't dye them either, basically trash
Except maybe the invisible shield for paladin
Ok. Did some frontline research and spent a few short minutes going over my PvP abilities on dummies. I guess now is time for me to just say eff it and try Frontlines.
I hope that because there are so many people in them me totally stinking will not weigh as heavily as it does in feast.
I'm also not seeing a lot of fundamental or basic guides for frontlines on PvPaissa compared to Feast. I take it I kind of just assume the same, at least for the basics.
And also that I need to understand tons of changes have happened and more will in 5.1 so there is an unnatural dearth of information atm
Hi everyone!
Aether player LFM people to pvp with. Ps4 players preferred due to ease of VOIP but I'm not picky on where I find friends...
@ivory karma if you want to get folks to play with look at the pins and join those servers. i'll tell you from experience a random person asking to teamup usually doesn't get any bites. the best way is to interact with the communities and show that you've at least read/watched to understand the basics then ask people directly
Ok. Ty
I think for my next few frontlines I'll ask if there's an experienced ranged dps or healer in my party and ask if I can follow them around and peel.
Maybe not ideal but that's what I'm used to doing as a tank and it can help with my general awareness and map knowledge sticking close to someone who has PvPed a bit
Make sense or waste of time?
Makes sense although I'd be careful...Generally randoms will think they're better than they are. Better would be to join the PvP discord servers and make friends there
hi im looking to get into this game, coming for guild wars 2. How active is the PvP in this game?
PvP is not a major focus of the community overall, that of course is varying between regions, but overall far less than you'll find compared to GW2
The PvP community is pretty active - we had a tournament held by SE and constant ranked seasons. The community also holds tournaments that are streamed, have shout casters and prizes. Check pins for PvPaissa to check out previous tournaments.
PvP isn't the main selling point here but it's pretty good. Hopefully the community eventually realizes that the biggest issues can be solved by simply educating themselves on the rules of engagement. Because of the current state of the community at large I wouldn't join FFXIV for PvP only. It can definitely be your main thing (it's my main thing) but it shouldn't be your only reason to play.
i thought this game pvp was ignored
By the general player base? Yes. And they throw scapegoats at you to hide the fact that they haven't tried to learn the mode

you're right lol
most are into standing around and complaining about difficult content

how is the pvp btw?
It needs work. But it's really fun. That's every PvP ever.
The biggest issue in FFXIV is the community and its lack of competitive spirit and their (generally) wrong perception of it
Best advice; try it out, immerse yourself in the PvP communities and check it out for yourself with a fair and open mind
^
Totally agree with EA
I have over 400 games played in FL/RW/Feast (combined) and I can say that I had some fun while doing so
Sometimes might be a bit tricky, but it is fun nonetheless
Pvp is loads of fun, you just get situations where one team will just completely tunnel hard on another and ignore the rest of the match
I think the people who say pvp sucks are mostly those who haven't really tried it. There are issues but it honestly isn't as bad as many make it seem. With the right mindset you can defnitely have fun.
You're exactly right. People heard from someone else that PvP is toxic and sucks so they come in, lose and look for scapegoats to go "AHA! PVP SUCKS AND IS TOXIC" instead of having a competitive spirit and coming back even better to kick someones ass.
The amount of people talking like they're experts in PvP meanwhile they only have a couple hundred games in casual modes only is staggering

A lot of people who complain about the PvP are horribly ignorant to how PvP works as well. It's a shame, but that's how it is. It's like bronze people in League complaining about a champ being OP when he's considered weak in high tier .
Just gotta do your best to help
Yeah that's exactly right tbh
Is the pvp with equalized gear? Worth joining if i am still level 75 with 390 ilvl gear?
gear doesn't matter. you can go in naked. stats are based off of player role
level 30, level 80, doesn't matter
Nice! Guess I’ll be trying it today. Are there long queues?
Look at pins and check out the videos and join the discord servers. You'll need to queue during prime time. Just like anything difficult (PF for Savage or Extreme) there is a smaller pool of players therefore you need to play when the most people are on
PvP sucks
Thank you very much for you input.

I hate Feast.
I hope they ban feast players
i enjoy my daily dose of playing with my fellow Immortal Lames
Hey, just because your good or bad doesn't mean you can't hate it I know people who play just for exclusive rewards but see PvP as a boring chore

Admit it
It sucks and needs work

Nobody would disagree with that. If anything, I think on top of that it would do well to take care of the very few griefers. Would make a world of difference.
😉
yeah i wasn't talking about bad or good at all, but the best way to help improve PvP is to give valid and informative reason on the problems and post to forums, or the community team and such. They do listen, even if it takes a long time because don't forget NA is not everything. There are JP players who put more heart and time in it than we do.
"PvP sucks" just ruins morale and keeps the negative connation there that people in our community have to fight literally every single day. I have to explain to people who watch my stream for the first time, or join any of the PvP discords, or on social media. Like right now, 3 people who actively play feast say pvp sucks as a joke or if they really mean it w/e awesome. but People who don't PvP see it and will not try and believe it. We stay as a joke if people keep us there
At the end of the day this all started because se failed to show love to their PvP in this mmo since the first expac
It has improved since then though but that image and first impression players got is gonna be hard to change
People who actively play the mode memeing on it by running around going 'Feast Sucks,' seriously or no, isn't going to help that first impression.
I've found pvp is actually really enjoyable, it's the people who ruin it.
Why play it if you don't like it, and why spread salt if it's just gonna make everyone else leave? Not that productive
Indeed :)
The community is the biggest issue when it comes to having nice things in this game
also the pvp side of the community could use more guide videos which we kinda lack
to help new players ease into pvp
There are big changes coming in 5.1. We don't even know if Feast will fundamentally change. Waiting on that
@wary nymph has some good videos on his YouTube channel though. Also his twitch is literally all feast. Literally. Like he doesn't do anything else.
Like someone get this man a drink. He needs it given all the shit he sees

yuh
SE plz add tutorial mode for new players in feast and frontline
so players will know what medals are
my stream is like 75% feast
but yeah
i usually do like 4-5hrs and then either swap to PVE and other games
Oh man I didn't know saying would I said would get that kind of reaction D: . Me hating Feast is more of a running gag
I'll stop saying it though!
honestly it's not bad
I've been collecting a few screenshots of people saying 'wow pvp is actually kinda fun' on streams and discord chats
People actually find out what they can deem fun once they stop listening to the jackasses in their discords telling them what to enjoy
Insane

it's also a fear factor about playing pvp for the first time if you have no past experience another mmos pvp
which makes people who are scared to pvp more likely to side with whoever's opinion and leaving it at that
^ FFXIV is the only MMO I have pvp experience in, if you can count what I have as 'experience' (I'm like.. level 15)
I think going through frontlines helps a ton to get over that hurdle because it's WAY less competitive and toxic
true
I'm still looking for a PVP team, but my schedule is wonky due to my time zone.
You probably won't find one. There's no light party season
^
Seriously though if you're new and want a team your best bet is to MAKE one. I've been around a long time and everyone says "anyone have space for me on a team" and no one makes them
If people MADE teams there would probably be a healthy low rank community that can play together
I even made a discord specifically for new teams and everyone is too shy or something lol
I think there's also the issue of a lot of people not considering themselves "hardcore" enough to start their own team. I sure as hell don't, I just want a group to play some casual FL with for example
Making your own team, to a lot of people, carries a sort of connotation to being a really competitive player
Also the whole PvP team system was mostly made for just feast team modes not really anything else
Even if it was a hardcore thing there are a lot of not hardcore players posting "LFG" just get you all together lol
I literally had a bunch of brand new PvP teams in a discord server together and no one wanted to scrim each other

well, that's kinda part of what I mean. A lot of people aren't interested in scrims and playing at that sort of level, they just want a group of people who'll be up for actually queueing together
Then a lot of them never queue anyway so
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Scrims only way you'll get LP matches. Scrims just means custom games lol
The average person follows/joins in, not leads. That's actually just a fact of life
That's why leaders are so valuable when they appear
Anyone is capable of saying they're a leader but are they a leader?
It's just like any creator game like Mario Maker or LittleBigPlanet... The vast majority of players will be just that, players. Only a handful will be creators
no you monkeys
nobody's playing or forming teams because why bother for a dead game mode
that has no rewards
in a game where almost every other form of content provides a substantial reward
Apparently playing a mode that you find fun isn't rewarding in itself ¯_(ツ)_/¯
some hobos get a bit of a dopamine rush digging through trash just because you find standing in LP queue for 18 hours with no pops fun doesnt mean it is for the majority of the playerbase aka 99.9%
That's a bit harsh there
but it's the truth
look at classic wow
so much more people doing pvp there, there isnt even a ranking system or reward for it
classes are digustingly imbalanced but people are still having fun doing pvp in that 2004 game
meanwhile if i were to grab my LP team right now and queue up, i guarantee you nothing will pop except for maybe a couple of rebels reading this post here
ffxiv pvp sucks donkey nuts which is why nobody plays so the only incentive for it is rewards but square wont even give us that
You only need 8 people to set up some practice matches though. Practice. It's expected that you wouldn't get any reward but knowledge
Unless you were referring to the actual season
you get knowledge
but for what
use that knowledge for what?
to get better at a dead game mode?
square hates us lol
People still queue for Feast and have been for a dozen seasons
That's what the knowledge is for
Over a dozen actually
LOL
remember season 12 where people would only queue at 2 or 3 AM and you'd see less than 10 people in a whole day
Are you talking about LP?
or season 13 where it was new healer vs boosted healer
or LP season where it was just teams of alts vs another teams of alts
you've got to be joking to call it fully alive
Everybody knows there are job issues and whatnot. There are issues in both PvP and PvE, but let's not go around saying that people don't play it. There are huge discords all over the place dedicated to just PvP
99.9% of the playerbase do not play feast
It's not as alive as before. I agree but that's more likely due to SE's actions
we got a disgusting amount of players but we only see less than 200-500 per season
i could even say 99.99%
when you have less than 99.9% of your playerbase not playing feast i think you can safely say the mode is in a bit of trouble
I queue for Frontlines every single day and have no issues finding games except at weird hours. Part of the issue with PvP is people running around screaming "PvP IS DEAD LUL" because then no one wants to fucking play
But it's not...? Again over a dozen seasons. Seasons literally can't finish without people playing them
No doubt there are alts but there are way more actual players
Whether or not they win is a different story
Personally I think the alt thing is a big issue and have always wanted it dealt with though
20-30 people actually trying, 70 people memeing and still making it by farming bad players
i dont even think people who make it to beta wolf even try
there's a top 100 but that 100 still isn't enough
The majority of people in top 100 are going to be in the Discords communicating with all the other top 100 people who all likely know at least a little something about PvP. Plus, that allows them to teach each other things and they all benefit
Then there's the fact that not being top 100 doesn't necessarily mean you're bad
There are many reasons as to why someone may not make it to Top 100
Only time I ever have issues with queues is when I play Ranged. But that's because there are too many Ranged. Tank, Melee, and Healer have very healthy queues all throughout a season
you'
All players will experience more or less the same thing lol.
you're acting like i dont play feast at all lmao
i do know
and that's still not good enough
Never said you didnt
If I'm getting 2hr queues as BRD, other BRDs shouldn't be getting in in 2secs
you're repeating the same song and dance like everybody else here says
2 hour queues are shit
saying "that's how it is" aint the way to go with a pvp mode
What do you expect SE to do about it?
It's an overabundance of Ranged
Not enough spots for everyone
make ranged harder obviously
give them a higher degre of responsibility
it's not rocket science
What two hour queues you in? During ranked the longest is rDPS and that pops in 30 mins or so
Just an example
30 minutes
still sucks
imagine waiting half an hour for a game
that's like 6 minutes long
Yeah it sucks but nothing you can do when rDPS is popular. Queues in other games for popular roles are also long though: LoL and OW. Not sure how it can be fixed. I know OW has incentives for picking "not DPS" I guess SE should do that too. But then we have healers doing it just for the rewards which will be as bad as garos so... Meh
"Nothing you can do about it"
it's so fucking simple
I know personally I like the queue. Means more bad players I can abuse

you saying nothing you can do about it just makes it worse
when you have square reading shit like that
just make ranged a harder job
that's literally it
I think that was their goal with the HP changes. rDPS are squish so get punished easily. Problem is it's it easily identifiable so many players don't even realize it got harder and just blame their healer lol.
It isn't *
that's not going to change anything when you can just blame the healer and the tank for it
a higher degree of responsibility
notice that whenever we have a bad player on healer/tank/melee we always tell him to go play ranged or something
why is that
a lot of things
lower HP doesn't suddenly increase the skill floor
Yeah. I think the changes were to take the blame off healers and onto others. But the healer messing up is more obvious than anyone else so
It hasn't been working out. I'm still waiting for 5.1 before harshly judging
I will say I haven't been very happy with PvP in a competitive aspect. But it's still fun to do
I've been enjoying RW way more than Feast lately that's for sure
I -think- SE is planning on doing more events to highlight PvP. I'm hoping that's the case since it'll mean more dev focus on PvP
being ranged both pvp and pve is same, it's over abundance
that’s true
Imagine waiting 30+ as rdps to get grouped with a thrower healer or fight against a lower rated boosted alt
Tony knows what's up!
that’s why i ended up maining two melees since they are always needed
and also tank
i love ranged but the ques are zzz

So I'm kinda new to PVP, why does it take so long to find a match?
which mode are you queueing for?
Time of day is a huge bit of it. On Primal I can get frontlines games in under 10 minutes usually, except when it's really late for NA
sometimes it's instaqueue in the morning, sometimes it's 25+ minutes late at night
There is quick 72 person frontline queues in the afternoon and evening. Usually somewhat slow before then.
be at the spawn point where you start the game. You can use Return to get back there if you dropped down already.
you get EXP/tomes for the job you queue as, doesn't matter what job you use in the frontline game.
yeah, some people queue as a job they want to level then immediately change in spawn to what they prefer playing as
You click the job change button lol
Also any content in FFXIV that's remotely difficult will have a smaller pool of players to pull from, this includes all PvP even the casual modes, so you have to queue during your data centers prime time
Also if you're a Garo farmer PLEASE look at pins so you have an idea on how to play

I'm glad I don't like the Garo sets, they're so garish. I don't feel the need to grind them out
some of the weapons look great though
Definitely have to pick and choose. Some are certainly rather horrendous, others are nice.
I'll probably try getting a couple helmets, like the Dark Knight and Lancer ones, because the helmets look decent imo
depends on if I get the coins after getting the weapons I want
i hate the garo sets lol
they look fugly. also whenever i see a garo title or set i automatically think they're not good at pvp <_<
best part of it is the dark knight's sword lol
Are there any updated guides on how to play different classes in PVP?
I'm trying to figure out for the life of me how to play white mage but I'm so useless in this mode
Yeah @wary nymph has some. Not many out because 5.0 changed PvP and 5.1 is the big PvP update. That being said pvpaissa has mentors you can ask for help as well as helpful info in the job specific channels
Revival Wings has good Rival Wings guides. I suggest checking both out. @amber escarp
Also like any competitive PvP game: if you want Feast advice beyond the generic stuff you can find in pins I suggest making a vod for review. Ideally you review it yourself then come with questions
Is it possible to change the HUD for enemy and party list in the feast? >-<
Yep! Go to wolves den, open the HUD menu and click on duty.
Wow thank you!!!
You're welcome dude
spoiler yellow won
men of quadruple technical finish i see
Even with the nerfs dancer is still fairly solid
Anyone know a good PvP discord that isn't pvpaissa?
Or linkshell or cross world linkshell on Crystal data center
Have you looked if Revival Wings has what you're looking for?
Oh thanks! Forgot that was a thing
PvPaisso?
How does the pvp work on this game just started
^^
There's some decent guides in the pins to start, and the job guides on the website have a PvP tab that explain what the pvp skills are and do- those would be the best places to start. From there, check the other pins for other resources
But obviously the best way to learn how the PvP work is to keep queing it and get experience through the games
So invest how many hours? To find out how pvp events work?
So its 4vs4 or 3 groups vs each other
Can you group with friends for this?
Are there pvp titles for ranks?
You can group with other people for the 8v8v8 modes (frontlines) and 24v24 (rival wings). 4v4 only allows a full team of 4 for team ranked (which does not pop outside of a team season), a duo group for training, but is otherwise solo.
There are titles for your rank at the end of a season, top 10, and 1st place.
The smaller team games are in Feast, which is considered the competitive mode
Rival Wings is MMO meets MOBA, and Frontlines is casual big team objective games
Invest however many hours it takes you to learn how to PvP
I'd recommend before even going into a PvP match, go to the training dummies on the pier and learn how your class' abilities work, since they're a bit different in PvP
Figure out how to string together your abilities properly with the changes. You don't have to make a flawless rotation, but at least having a good idea will help so much
I second that practice on the pier a bit and read the tooltips
I feel like I was the only one that really enjoyed the simple nature of 4.0 onwards PvP abilities
I like it, but I definitely feel like it needed fleshing out a bit.
I'm not a fan of the tiny skill gap
Especially since it was done to get new players into PvP - it helps them not feel behind yet some folks still don't grasp the basics
I haven't checked out all of 5.0 new stuff, but in 4.0 Frontline and Rival Wings was really fun for all jobs
And having all the skills take up like 10 slots max was super comfy
I bet 50$ the word "Substantial" will be a understatement
SE understands that 98% of their community hates pvp so now they are appealing to the experienced players

they could have at least made an instanced tutorial for all pvp modes
the 9 buttons were a shit noob trap
you had idiots look at the 9 buttons and think "Oh just 9 buttons, so simple!", thinking they had the combat all figured out
which led to people not improving or getting better and blaming their inadequacy on the system rather themselves because they think they figured out their 9 buttons
and then you had the 9 buttons actually limiting for people who have mastered pvp to a higher degree
it only worked for the middle of the pack, never the high end or the low end and that's a mistake on square's side
"Substantial" is gonna be adding a aoe heals for healer, "self healing second wind skill variations" for all tanks and dps and calling it a day and questionable nerfs and buffs
Maybe a aoe defense buff for tanks that's weaker then lb
Tony is right. These pepegas think they mastered it but they don't understand the basics
9 button lul. Then they try to solo a healer as RDM lol
your right Tony
there are some new players that think they are gods and not know how to LoS
So, uh, I've ground out 60k wolf marks without knowing you could unlock abilities or traits. There a guide for MCh anywhere?
What to you mean unlock?
Also no. Check pins. 5.1 will bring PvP changes. Then we need a ranked season to see how jobs actually play
I've only been using the 3 default abilities set to the hotbar. It seems they actually have most of their kit that you can set/unlock somehow?
ho boy
yes in your main menu where all your job actions are, scroll down to Main Commands, then click the Character tab. From there select PvP Profile, then select the Job tab under PvP Actions.
Those are all of your pvp abilities, you can assign them to your hotbars at the wolves den pier
60k wolf marks using 3 abilities, that will be a funny story to look back on :p
Thank you. It is a story I will be both proud and ashamed of.
If they had a tutorial this could be avoided!
I'm pretty sure when you go to wolves den it places all the abilities on your bar
Or even if you queue into PvP
So he literally removed them lol
Nah, there's a bunch of locked icons
I figured they were used for whatever the third PVP thing was, not frontline or feast
Hello, im from Japanese data center (Mana - Masamune). Anyone cares to join pvp for grinding garo event? im trying to win for getting its garo mount (now 12/60). but i must tell that im new just play for 3 weeks im not good at pvp.
I don't think the JP playerbase is very big here
If you join Revival Wings one of the mods is called Demon Sushi and he's from Japan. Maybe he can help you out
what is the easiest class to play in feast, i want to get the achivement mounts from the garo event befor it ends
Personally I wish they had this available by other means in future, but I don't see that happening due to it being available for so long and how the Yokai Watch didn't either. As for what is easiest to play, honestly I pick a class I feel comfortable in. I find the "easiest to play" is a matter of perspective on what you truly enjoy playing the most. The advantage here is that you have the full rotation available with job unlocked at level 30, which will help you get the feel more
Now if you want to farm marks, I recommend first farming Feast since the que is quick and matches are quick. Even if the reward is low, it adds up faster in long run compared to Frontline or other ones like that. Once you get all the left side gear save for belt, get the title and go from there
Playing a class you really enjoy makes the garo event farm much less tedious in my opinion. Yes some classes are better than others, but I tend not to mind much so long as I enjoy it. Plus if you are familiar with your class already, it is easier to understand than a random one in pvp just for sake of farming for garo. That would be my advice FortuneSeller
How much hostility should i expect initially if i want to learn and play a healer in feast?
I feel that's the biggest barrier to entry as a healer. Gotta suffer through the guilt of letting party down or even being yelled at, before expecting to contribute properly and maybe win. lol
I find from experience in Feast, most people go for ranged or healer first, depending on how they like to play or prioritize. in Frontline, i see many go straight for healer first, then ranged.
HOwever, that said, i am not an expert. Just stating what i typically see when i do
hostility as in from my teammates haha
Depends if you can keep them alive and not make unnecessary movements. Then you should be fine.
If not a desired asset to the team
I mean a healer can generally keep themselves alive when being targeted. A ranged cannot keep themselves alive.
So if you focus on the ranged youte waisting the healers time and can gradually pick them off one by one
What do you mean
Maybe he meant he fought against healers who know what there doing and thinks it's a waste to aim for them?
As a ranged attacker, instead of focusing on the same target as the tank/melee I try to target the healer or melee in hopes that they
ll slip up.
Once they do you dump on whoever they failed to heal, or at least try to stun/knock either of them out of healing range.
Are healers being able to better heal themselves a matter of targeting, judgement, or some kind of mechanic?
Almost got all the gear for BLM from the priest.
Once you get the hang of PvP it’s not that bad
yeah that's what i always tell people. lots of folks write off the game when they've barely dipped their toes into it
imagine if players wrote off ffxiv when they did sastasha. or even before finishing ARR
I used to think the pvp was bad then seen the garo mounts ages ago and was like hmmmm tell them to bring me ma moneeeehhh
So, I've been PVPing several times away in hopes of getting the Garo mount, but lose far more often than I win. It's hard to manage a game as large as 72 players so figuring out what I'm doing/not doing is really challenging. It also doesn't help the DF teams you up with randos. Are there resources/groups that help out with newer players?
FL is designed for you to have a 33% winrate by nature of it being a 1v1v1, so it's natural to experience more losses than wins
brilliant and utterly astounding game design that is very well thought out by the square devs, which is very friendly to the solo player just starting out pvp truly why pvp is the most respected game mode in ffxiv
your choice is to join maelstrom since bots from a general anecdotal perspective tend to gravitate towards the flames
and hope you can manipulate that winrate to 40-50% that way as well as find some friends or a FL discord and form a pre-made
Every time I play FL I hope that the dumb GC stuff Is removed at some point. At least make it 36v36
It's almost impossible to ever engage in a fight with another alliance in any of the FL modes because the 3rd alliance will be there to kill you 90% of the time. Regardless of if you're in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.
I just want to be able to duke it out in a big skirmish battlefield mode and have fun!
Your best bet is to join PvP discords and form premades. If you can't do that then as sucky as it sounds, you'll have to join Maelstrom and keep freelance off. Even though that's adding to a different larger problem
I have always been Maelstrom and my winrate is 53%
You can try rival wings since it is 24 v. 24. Since it only has two sides, your theoretical win rate should be bumped up to 50%.
it solves the 1v1v1 problem but it has a myriad of its own problems too
Funny personal story, one time I queued in a random pug for frontlines and since everyone was on point with how that pvp mode worked and bursting people, everyone except one of our healers managed to get battle high/fever. At that point, I was mostly sure that the other teams believed that we were a premade when in fact it was a complacent group focused on the same objective.
A moba mode where you're more of a minion than a hero
@amber escarp , if you want to be the "champion", the best way is to learn how to skillfully pilot a mech. Pull off insane trick shots as an oppressor, murder players by the dozen in a cruise chaser, do both as a brute justice.
I know how RW works
The other thing is to carve the fear of a minion into the hero by soloing a mech, preferably with the flying high. People love it if an enemy mech is murdered before it reaches the supposed target.
the mechs suck
50 CE to ride the mech, no regen so you cant stay on it, only one per party
and even if it's an upgrade statistically
the buttons are too simple
it's the means to win but you sacrifice your buttons for even simpler ones
but that's just talking about cruise chasers and bjs
Opressors have to be the most offensive
and having to "upgrade" to a robot is worse because in the case you cant
you're helpless a lot of the time
I can't do anything when a BJ has his offenses locked on me
i might as well just throw my hands off the keyboard and get a snack because of the stun + lazer combo
Pretty sure that's where the team aspect comes into play. Your team helps gather ce to keep you fueled. If you die or have to eject, return and grab a new one. The no healing also applies to the other team, so any damage sticks unless the other team dies/ejects as well. If you want to stay at 10~ buttons, you can stay on foot. While it would be nice if you can hound a BJ from start to finish, you can just chuck a dot, maybe do a burst, then run so friendly CCs or BJs can finish the job.
Thing is they could just make the team aspect better
by having the robots be more mechanically complex
and then having robots work together as a team on a more fundamental level
then having one team, one controls the robot and the 3 others mess aronud on foot grabbing CE and hitting minions
I would have to agree that having a collective pool for using robots and gathering CE would be nice so one can bring out the best out of the 24 people one's working with.
Maybe someone's really good at piloting a CC is paired up with other likeminded people in the same party. Maybe the top four feast healers are paired up together. Something along those lines do seem to happen often.
any tips on playing healer in feast, which is the easiest to play and how should i play it?
what is LOS?
Line of sight. Basically don’t just stand there getting bonked by the enemy team. Have you looked at the pins here?
the biggest mistake I see new healers make is not being aggressive enough with their heals and cooldowns. Pop them often, use your big cures, keep people topped off, try to increase your healing numbers. Better to run out of MP than let someone die trying to conserve MP. You'll get the hang of the nuances later.
