Hello! To help out with some of the role bloat we've been experiencing lately, we decided as a team to compress some of them into something more uniform. We have added the NA and EU roles to fit all of the Datacenters in that region. Alongside that, the old Japan and Materia roles have been remade into JP and OCE accordingly. For those who already have these roles, nothing has changed for you.

To accommodate this change, we have added the new roles in #860652505117753384 so you can add them at your leisure. There will be plans later to cull the older roles to fit this change, and users will need to add a regional role at some point next year to continue using the server. We are accepting color suggestions for the new NA and EU region roles in the new submission thread in #discord-feedback. General guidelines are that the colors can't closely overlap with any staff role, perk role [winner's circle, moogle supreme, etc], or existing region roles [JP, OCE]. Anything else is fair game.

When submitting a suggestion, we'd prefer you provide a hex code and a swatch of the color you're suggesting.

After a short discussion with the admin team I have decided to formally ban discussion of Hogwarts Legacy as well as Harry Potter on this Discord. JK Rowling has been a polarizing individual in many LGBT spaces for quite some time due to her unacceptable actions and messages about the transgender community. As the FFXIV community is a very diverse crowd I have decided it is in the best interests of this Discord to disallow discussion of this game to not bring attention to such an individual. Please use your best judgment when deciding whether or not to download and use third party tools to alter or adjust your FFXIV gaming experience.

As a reminder, r/ffxiv and the Reddit Discord server endorse several community resources in #resources for our users to use to enhance their experience through community and third party tool links. These resources are vetted by our staff at the time they are added to ensure they abide by our community rules and guidelines.

Every June we inevitibly get an army of trolls coming out of the woodwork calling it a political stunt that we display artwork to celebrate pride. You may have ended up here after noticing that r/ffxiv is currently set to private. That's because our Reddit community is participating in a site-wide protest after reddit announced massive, unreasonable changes to their API (https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/). The changes will kill off most major 3rd party apps and significantly harm users who rely on those apps for moderation tools and accessibility features.

Over 3,000 subreddits (and counting!) have chosen to participate in this protest and after bringing the subject to our Reddit community, they overwhelming voiced their support to participate as well.

As a result, r/ffxiv will remain set to private until June 19th. On that day, the subreddit will reopen in restricted mode in order to poll our community again and determine if they still wish to keep the blackout going. If the answer is yes, the subreddit will go private again for another 7 days and then we'll repeat the process.

In the meantime, we welcome any newcomers to our Discord server! We've setup a special forum channel called #1116899335628668979 to act as a replacement for the popular Daily Questions thread. Discord just pushed out a new feature that for your safety you should be aware of, Masked Links. This feature allows users to add hypertext to words in their messages, obfuscating the link's URL. While this feature does have legitimate use it can also be used for malicious intent in order to get you to go to a website you didn't intent to, and all users should be extra vigilant around these messages.

One solution is to hover your mouse over the masked link to show the true URL, Mobile users can press hold on the masked link to view the URL as well. Thankfully Discord does pop up with a warning if the link is taking you off Discord and will show the actual link so please pay extra attention to those pop ups.

#1062567708333453362 is where all datamined content will be shared going forward (this has already been standard policy since patch 6.3, but this should serve as your reminder).

#952271392424992838 is where the new home of our lore-centric regulars will be, in #1161031547634327572. That channel will resume the function that #archived-lore-spoilers currently has: a no-man's-land where all spoilers regarding the game's story and lore are fair game.

This change will also assist in keeping unwanted spoilers away by adding an extra layer of protection through directing new players to a specific expansion's thread rather than having the finale of an expansion they theoretically haven't reached yet be spoiled as they go to ask their question.

Announcing the Winners of our Shifting Seasons Contest.

Hello Warriors of Light, I am proud to announce our winners of our Shifting Seasons Glamour Contest! As you may know, we recently hosted an event in which we asked of you to submit your coziest, snug, autumn glamours. Frankly, all of your submissions were captivating and alluring, however staff has finally decided the three winners who knocked it out of the park!

Our First place winner, is user @wary marten , character name Rosea Fheicta. Rosea is dressed in mainly a dashing red Valentoine Emissary's Jacket, dark Cropped Flannel Slops and Kupo Shoes, with a Varsity flat cap as her hat. The usage of warm reds and dark tones is very pleasing to the eyes. The dark cuffs on her Valentoine Emissary's Jacket, the dark button up, as well as the Varsity Flat cap really draws the eye to the reds of the image, and even accentuate her brown hair. @sand adder 's submission proves that you can make an amazing glamour with a few colors, as long as you have a good eye, and it's obvious that she does!

Our Second place winner is user @shut cloak , character name Nanaka Nana. Nanaka is dressed in a very cozy brown Diadochos Coat of casting, a grey fleece Sophist's Podea, light brown Whisperfine Woolen Boots, and a brown Varsity Flat Cap. Nanaka really knocked it out of the park when it came to the theme of being cozy in autumn. Their Diadochos Coat of Casting fits absolutely perfectly with their Woolen Boots! I love how they didn't use the same shade of brown. That may have been too samey, however instead they used multiple, and they all work together in conveying the theme of the contest! It truly does look like Nanaka truly does look like they're ready for warm drinks, and a good book.

Our Third place winner is user @green locust , character name Elessia Sedai. Elessia is dressed in a brown Spring Straw Hat, a brown Felicitous Tunic, Theogonic Armlets of Healing, a green Varsity skirt and brown Wayfarer's Boots. First off, I love the usage of green here. Green typically isn't seen as a cozy fall color, however with this submission it works so well that you'd think that it is! There are many colors and values here that bounce off eachother brilliantly. The brown tunic and hat are amazing choices, with them both underscoring their red elements. Those being the red flower on the Spring Straw Hat, and the red cuffs and underclothing of the Tunic. They really pop, even though they're under the brown coat!

Hello Warriors of Light, I am proud to announce our winners of our Color of Love Glamour Contest! First off, I'd like to thank you all for your lovely submissions. It was a pleasure strolling through the submissions thread and looking at each and every one of your glamours! All of you took the Valentione's theme to heart, and crafted such beautiful glams! I hope you all return for future glamour contests!

Rosea is dressed in a bright Ruby Red Cauldronsoph's Mantle, Soot Black Appointed Gloves, Soot Black Southern Seas Skirt, Ruby Red Isle Farmhand's boots and last but not least, High Allagan Earrings of Casting. Rosea's entry is very elegant and sophisticated. The Cauldronsoph's Mantle paired with the False Spectacles gives this warrior of light a distinguished look. The Golden accents on the shoulder piece and the brown belt of said Cauldronsoph's mantle add a light color variance. Even though red is being used as the primary color, these little additions add so much flavor! The Ruby Red chestpiece was a really good pick here. You did an amazing job, @sand adder , congrats on winning another glamour contest!

Where do I begin with this one! This entry is so graceful, and pleasing to look at. The Hierloom Tunic of Healing matched wth the Crystarium Pantaloons of Healing is such a good match! This combination looks so lovely, and so comfortable. The seemingly belt-like chain accessory on the Hierloom Tunic of Healing matches the metal ring piece of Warlock's Ringbands glove, as well as the metal buckle on the Woolen Dress shoes. This mainly white and deep red fit, has such nice silver accents in it, giving it another burst of color! P.S, I love the blue and pink hair! It contrasts the outfit, making your warrior of light even nicer to look at. Good job, @valid gate , you did really, really well!

Alinea is dressed in a Rose Pink Valentione Emissary's Ruffled Dress, Soot Black Valentoine Emissary's Culottes, and Dalamud Red Valentoine Emissary's Dress Boots. This outfit is gorgeous! I absolutely love the red stitchwork on the Rose Pink Valentoine Emissary's Ruffled Dress. Infact, the dress in itself is a mix of so many colors from Burgundy, to Dark Red, to Rose Pink, with little Golden accents! It was such a good pick for this contest, and really stole the show!

Hello, we are aware of Spy Pet and are taking countermeasures, thank you for all the kind modmails informing us of it.

I just want to thank everyone who took the time to bring the Spypet situation to our attention, it has been a tremendous help.

Now to give a brief description of what Spypet is for those who aren't aware, Spypet is a website that has been scraping messages from Discord servers for the purposes of reselling them. They achieve this by having bot accounts join servers and collecting any messages it can see. To alleviate some concerns we have already removed the bot account from this server and Discord is aware of the situation.

Spypet appears to not only collect people's messages but also tied those messages to a user's account, and any accounts publicly linked to your Discord account, although it should be noted that the bot can only collect information that it can see, so any accounts you don't have publicly displayed on your Discord account, as well as messages made in DMs or private channels won't be collected.

While this situation is concerning I would like to remind everyone that anything said on this Discord is considered public and everyone should be mindful to not reveal any information they wouldn't want a random person to know.

Hello, everyone. We have some news regarding a visual update to the server.

With the announcement that a new Logical Data Center (Shadow) will be added before the launch of Dawntrail, we've found ourselves contemplating role bloat, specifically in regard to the selection of colors available for new roles. Facing the inevitability that more data centers may be added in the future, we've decided to standardize role colors across region rather than having each Data Center have its own color.

Our intent behind standardizing the colors is to improve legibility, prevent confusion between similar-colored roles, and make it easier to tell at a glance which region a member plays on. The new colors will be as follows:

• Light Blue for North America, inspired by the predominant passport color of the region.
• Light Red for Europe, inspired by the predominant passport color of the region.
• Pink for Japan, inspired by cherry blossoms.
• Light Green for Oceana, inspired by kiwifruit.
  See the chart at the bottom of this post for a visual comparison between colors on both dark and light modes.
  
  This isn't a change we're making lightly, as we understand how many of you are attached to the current role colors, especially those who've been with us since A Realm Reborn when there were only six Data Centers rather than twelve. We will be trialing the new colors within the next few days and making adjustments as needed. If you have suggestions or feedback, please post it in ⁠#discord-feedback.

You can clip hilarious raid moments that've happened to you [Your character's name must be in the footage.] , cut and splice main story clips in order to make them seem humorous, etc. You can also create skits with your friends! The sky is the limit. Have fun, and see if you can make the staff laugh!

New Job, New Me: [JOB TRAILER CONTEST] Contest participants must create a job trailer for either Pictomancer or Viper. You can pick either or. Participants can use all footage of the jobs that are currently out, or come out as the contest goes on. Examples of footage that can be used are the Dawntrail Trailer, Job Action Trailer, and Live Letter footage. You can add things like Typography or Graphic Design elements in order for your entry to stand out! Try not to make your trailer a slideshow of clips. Be creative!

Rules & Regulations:

• Every video must be 20 seconds max, with dimensions of 1920x1080p in mp4 format.

Hey there Warriors of Light! With Dawntrail so close that you can already smell the tacos we wanted to give everyone a heads up about how we are going to handle spoilers during the launch period, as this may be the first time some of you here are experiencing this.

As a general rule, spoilers are to be strictly avoided everywhere. We will hand out swift mutes for small time or accidental spoilers, but do reserve the right to escalate depending on the context or severity of it. Intentional spoiling of big plot points will lead to an immediate, permanent ban from the server.

Of course there are exceptions to this.** #1255897019856453756 will be the primary place for you to chat about Dawntrail.** In there anything goes, so beware of spoilers. However we still ask you to use spoiler tags as appropriate. The thread will be a thing until the release of patch 7.01 in about 2 and a half weeks.

Additionally we will allow discussion of Dawntrail story in #1161031547634327572 as well as #1134533110197932195. The same rules apply for those two weeks, so please use those spoiler tags. Additionally we know that #endgame-lounge can be in a bit of a weird spot, since you want to discuss mechanics of the shiny new extreme trials. This is just a quick PSA for a new type of scam going around. Discord recently updated their markdown policy, which unfortunately allows for some questionable ways to format text.

They are trying to disguise their messages as official Discord alerts, with a blue hyperlink at the bottom to "Dismiss message". That link will then of course lead to a scam website which installs some script. There's an example at the end of this announcement.

Markdown hyperlinking is disabled on the server, however someone may still approach you via a DM. Please be careful out there and don't just click on any link you come across. If you get any suspicious messages from members on this server do let us know via #discord-modmail and we will show them the door.

In line with an announcement that was recently made on our sister subreddit (which will be linked at the end of this), we wanted to give everyone a quick reminder about the discourse concerning a certain Dawntrail character.

While it is absolutely fine to dislike Wuk Lamat as a character or the story she is part in we do not condone any attack on her voice actress or the game itself in regards to accusations of supposed political pandering. We have always taken a strong stance against transphobia in particular, but this topic specifically really attracted some less than savory elements over the past weeks.

This announcement does not bring any actual changes, we have already handled the discourse on the server similarly to what the subreddit has just imposed. This is simply a reminder to everyone.

So in very clear and simple terms: It's fine to dislike a character, but for the love of all Moogles do not be weird about it. That is all.

The 3rd annual Wish Upon a Realm is upon us. An FFXIV Community Festival Event held every year in December, in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Supported and run by FFXIV community members, creators, artists and content creators to have fun events and raise funds for Make-A-Wish. This third year running will be more accessible than ever for the FFXIV community as it is located on Oceania.

There's a couple of things that the moderation and administration team would like to address at this point.

First and foremost we collectively agree that this situation could have been handled better on our end. There are ways in which we could have mitigated much of the concern expressed, including announcing the proposal earlier and using the extra time to take feedback onboard.

Additionally, some of the comments made on our end almost certainly strayed too far into needless accusations, for that we are sorry. The topic of Twitter/X and all that surrounds it is a contentious one, but that isn't an excuse to let feelings get in the way of respecting one another.

This does, however, also extend to some of those in the community who have taken this opportunity to be hostile and aggressive towards the staff of this server. Just as you would not wish us to act this way towards you, we also expect the same in return.

Secondly, we would like to reiterate that the proposed decision to ban Twitter/X was not one made by any singular entity within the server. It was a discussion and vote amongst the moderation and administration team, one that resulted in a majority supporting the proposal.

All decisions on this server are made in the same manner, and often the moderation team spends significant time discussing and debating.

Lastly we would like to discuss the current results of the feedback form that was posted a couple of days ago:

One particularly common point of feedback we saw was in regards to artwork and artists. Concern was shown over those artists who only post their artwork on Twitter/X, and thus would have nowhere else to link to in the case of a full ban. To that end, we would like to clarify how we intend to enforce things:

In the case that you want to share somebody's artwork, we request that you use a link crediting the artist that leads to any of their other accounts outside their Twitter/X one. If they do not have a presence on any other platform, then we request you provide their twitter handle in text form.

While this might not be the most elegant solution, we believe this is the best we can offer while still upholding the proposed policy.

Finally, we would like to confirm that the proposed ban will still be implemented. Despite this, your feedback has been taken into account and has helped us adjust some of the ways in which we enforce it. While this may not have been the outcome that some of you desired, it is the course that was ultimately chosen.

Regarding the events of this week with the Twitter ban. I’d like to issue a short apology and say I’m sorry about the tone and language used when addressing the ban. This has been a long, terrible year week for many of us and emotions have gotten in the way of my common sense and decorum. While this server and its policies will continue to be dictated by the administration and moderation staff we’ll aim to do better in the future to hear concerns about major policy shifts.

As of today, this discord server, in coordination with our sister subreddit, will be banning all links to X, formerly known as Twitter. In light of recent events, we feel it is in the community's best interest to discourage use of the platform in favor of other ones. We are one of a group of FFXIV communities which have joined together in this effort.

Additionally, we have prepared some explanations for how this change will work:

Will I get banned for posting a link to Twitter?
No. Kupo Bot will auto delete any message containing a link to Twitter, and you will not be punished for it. However, those found to intentionally be trying to circumvent the ban will be punished. Posting partial links will also count as circumvention.

Can I use a redirect site for Twitter?
No. All Twitter redirect links will be banned in addition to regular Twitter links. Link shorteners like bit.ly will not be allowed if they link to Twitter. If a Twitter link is inside of a BlueSky link, that is allowed.

Can I share a screenshot of a Twitter post?
Yes, you can share screenshots of any Twitter post without penalty, provided that it follows our rules. A ban on screenshots of Twitter could happen in the future, but as of this announcement, they are allowed.

What if I want to share news about Final Fantasy XIV?
In addition to the lodestone posts that this server has a feed for, there are a variety of other places to get information about the game. This includes the Square Enix BlueSky Account (https://bsky.app/profile/square-enix-games.com ) and the FFXIV Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/ffxiv/?hl=en ). If there is some form of information that can only be obtained from Twitter, screenshots and video downloaded from Twitter can be posted here without penalty, as stated above.

What about FFXIV artwork?
The majority of the FFXIV art community has moved to other platforms like Bluesky. If you want to share the art of an artist who is only on Twitter, you can share just the picture and then give them the appropriate credits in a message (@name on Twitter/X). If the artist does not allow reposting without a link, and are only on Twitter, they cannot be posted here.

What about Twitter sweepstakes?
You can discuss any Twitter sweepstakes freely here, you just can’t link to accounts associated with them. You can talk about Twitter/X; the only restriction is that you can’t link them.

We are aware that this change may take some time to adjust to, but we feel that it is better for the long term health of the community to do so. We encourage you to use tools like https://cobalt.tools/ to download media from Twitter for posting here. We appreciate the responses from people who felt strongly about this change, and hope we will be able to work with you going forward. After years of covering Japanese to English translations, and the game begin to expand itself into other regions, we're pleased to announce that we're holding a <@&151564672154206208> recruitment, and we hope to have you on board and cover as much information as possible in different languages.

So what do you do as a member of the Translation Team?

Unlike server or subreddit moderators, the team values your coverage of the game's information in language other than English because there are a sizable amount of players prefer to play their game in their native language. While this doesn't happen all the time, we've had people approach us asking if we cover the game information in other language (like Spanish or French). With the recent launch of mobile version that is currently available only in Chinese and the announcement of launching a Traditional Chinese version of FFXIV in near future, we felt that it's time to pay attention and provide coverage on other languages as well.

For now, we're looking for candidates who can translate game news and interviews to English from the following language: Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. If you wish to cover in-game news in language that's not listed here, but has a sizable amount of following, feel free to submit your form so that we can consider expanding that service to the targeted language.

This times event will be a Glamour contest in celebration to the lifted glamour restrictions coming with 7.4

This contest is separated into two main categories

1. Fashion Unbound - Create a glamour for a specific job with stuff previously unable to be used on that job
2. Role Troll - Create a glamour that looks like a job using items that weren't made for that job

1. Free Trial Entry - Only for Free trial players. Premium items only available via promotional codes or the online store may not be used. NOT eligible for a in-game Gil reward.

You might not be aware that Discord recently updated their Terms of Service (https://discordapp.com/terms)

As part of this update Discord added dispute resolution and class waiver clauses. As a result, if you reside in the US your legal rights have been affected. Discord has removed your rights to 1) File a complaint in a court of law (You cannot sue Discord, you must go through an arbitrator) and 2) Congregate as a class action lawsuit.

This does not affect your legal rights if you reside in the EU as it is not enforceable.

You can opt-out of the clause. To do this you must send an email to [e-mail] mentioning that you are opting out. Importantly, you must do this within 30 days of the updated terms taking effect (now 28 days, the terms were updated two days ago). After 30 days, you can no longer opt out.

It seems like there's a bit of impersonation fraud making the rounds on FFXIV related Discord servers recently.

Be wary of DMs from Discord users that have a familiar username/nickname, such as a regular in the chat or staff member on the server (Administrator/Moderator/Mentor/etc).

Double check the username, not just the nickname, as well as the discriminator (the four numbers). For example, my username & discriminator is Eve#0001. To be 100% sure, compare the unique user ID.

We have disabled access to our Data Mining channel for the foreseeable future.

Earlier this evening, Square Enix have temporarily suspended the FFXIV service accounts associated with community members who provided you the Data Mining service. This has been a feature on this Discord server since its creation, but that time has come to an end.

We want to be open and transparent with everyone that given a choice, we would continue to allow access to the data mining channel, but we cannot in good faith allow people to put their service accounts on the line. Should Square Enix change their position on this matter, we would be glad to allow community members to once again provide it to you.

An update to the above news, I will be publicly retiring from datamining including the now removed datamining channel.
It has been the best part of my last two years to share interesting and accurate information about upcoming parts of the game.

Other than my two April fools jokes every item of information there has been accurate so I wish to share a warning to everyone. Due to the nature of datamining there can and has been a lot of fake misinformation out there, so a request from me is please be mindful when any sort of non public information gets shared.

Datamining has a very important part in the FFXIV Community when it comes to accuracy for websites and helpful guides. That being said, it can also share light on some data/content which SQUARE ENIX obviously do not wish to become public until the time is right to avoid spoilers.

What I did was break ToS by sharing unreleased content, and I do not put any blame on SQUARE ENIX for this decision to suspend my account.

I will still be active in the community so if you wish to have a chat please do and I am now looking for other areas to help with the great community that is FINAL FANTASY XIV. Maybe I will actually now have time to play the game.

A quick update on the status of this Discord server. Last week, Partners became able to list their servers publicly in a directory of servers for anyone to search and find. This has naturally opened us up to some new situations and spam problems. @plucky imp has been doing his diligence in keeping a good portion of the spam from hitting your chat but bots and phishing scams have been running around. In order to combat this I wanted to mention a few things:

• We will be moving the server behind the datacenter roles and starting next week you will be unable to see channels unless you have selected one of these roles for yourself. You can select these roles in #612757637813239808 Kupo is usually pretty good about responding but there could be some issues from demand so if he does not add a role please try again after a short wait.

• Phishing scams have become popular again. No one can give you free Nitro, a free Subscription, a free Mogstation item, etc. If someone sends you one of these messages please report it to <@&100464652139368448> or <@&100464474724524032> AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and they will be dealt with.

Just so y'all are aware, there's a scam gaining traction on Discord. It allows scammers to login into your account completely bypassing 2FA.

It involves the QR Login code which lets you login to your account, by scanning it using the mobile app. Typically the QR code will be sent as a DM masquerading as a free gift, usually Discord Nitro. Scanning that QR code will let the scammer access your account.

Discord is aware of the issue and they've added a warning to the login screen. Even so, if you get DM'd a QR code in this manner don't scan it, and report it to Discord: https://dis.gd/request. If you get DM'd by a member of this server, let a mod know ASAP!

I am pleased to announce that we will be conducting our first glamour contest on the server starting next week! We will be picking 6 winners for this contest, and the reward will be a hoisted role on the server's side bar with a special color. But I don't trust our mod and mentor team to be entirely impartial, so we're looking to you all to be our judges for this contest. We will be selecting no less than 3, and no more than 9 people to be additional judges for the competition. The only caveat is that if you are selected to be a judge, you may not participate in the contest. General rules for the contest are as follows:

3. Rule 4 of the server still applies. Breaking this rule with your screenshot will result in a warning and banning from the competition.
4. The following items may not be worn at all: Any and all bathing suits, any and all Mogstation only attire (prior event gear is allowed), the Shisui and Faire Chest and Pants, the 2B tights, and the Coeurl and South Seas Talismans. Meme glamours are also not permitted.
5. You must be the only player in your screenshot. You are permitted minions.
6. No mods. Period. Reshade is restricted to the Shadowbringers Gameplay shader preset.
7. Keep the gpose effects to a minimum. You are permitted emotes.
8. Submission should feature: Your in game name, your datacenter and server, and your race and gender. Ex: Yen Moonvow, Aether - Gilgamesh, Male Hrothgar. This is so we can identify your submission quickly for judging.

I'd like to get your opinion on #retired-patch-6-3-discussion. First up, a change: the channel will now stay open for 1 week, meaning the channel will now close on Tuesday.

The idea behind that channel was first suggested in our feedback channel, and it's intended to be a temporarily available channel for discussing a major patch or live letter, as opposed to using various other channels. If you're a regular of #archived-lore-spoilers or have used #retired-patch-6-3-discussion since it was introduced a few days ago, I'd like know what you think about it.

Do you think it's a good idea or have found it useful?

Should we keep this channel concept and use it in the future as is, or should it be adjusted?

Should it be used for minor patches as well in some cases?

Hi all, got a bundle for announcements so let's get started:

We've seen some recent evidence that the revolving Steam scammers have started brute forcing passwords into valid Discord accounts. The mod team highly recommends enabling 2FA for your account to protect yourselves.

Due to an uptick of misbehavior, and the difficulty involved with policing Voice Chat, we will be much stricter with rule violations in those channels going forward. This can include long timeouts, strikes, and permanent loss of VC permissions.

Reminder to our Kupo Supporters and Nitro Boosters that only Final Fantasy games are permitted to be streamed. This also forbids alt-tabbing while the game is open to show the rest of your screen. The first time you are caught evading the bot, you will be disconnected from VC and warned. The second time you are caught, you will permanently lose streaming permissions and receive a strike.

Due to the expected overwhelming activity from Endwalker the moderation team has decided that we will be closing voice chat for a minimum of one month from the start of Endwalker starting 12/3 at 1am PST and ending no earlier than 1/3/22.

There's been quite a bit of discussion regarding this in #discord-feedback for the past few weeks, so we've decided to announce it properly.

All voice channels are closed indefinitely for the foreseeable future. This is not, at the moment, a permanent close. However, the degree at which rule breaking and Discord ToS violating content was produced in those channels was an enormous source of concern for the mod team. We are currently in the process of researching and developing moderation tools for long term monitoring of voice chats. This does run us into a large number of legal issues regarding recording, so progress has been slow. Please be patient.

In addition, we have been seeing a large amount of poor behavior recently in #questions-and-help, #beginner-lounge, and #archived-lore-spoilers. Trolling, baiting, purposely giving wrong answers to questions, and being a deliberate nuisance for the channel and mod team are all actionable behaviors under Rules 1 and 4. Mentors have been instructed to hand out timeouts for these behaviors and to pass them on to the mod team for further review. A reminder that harassing a mod or mentor in their dms after the issuing of an action is grounds for an immediate ban. If you have an issue with a mod or mentor's actions, please utilize #discord-modmail.

After much consideration over the past few months., the moderation team has made the decision to permanently close voice chat channels, effective immediately.
