@mossy tartan things start to make a bit more sense at 40 when you have the trait which allows you to have 3 stacks of AF/UI. There's a little bit of an awkward stretch between getting Fire 3 at 34 and that third stack but fire 1 still remains your main filler spell. I'd just get into a habit even during those stretch of levels to just cast F3 from UI instead of using transpose first--it's what you'll be doing at 40+ anyways

1-50, hunting log to get up to dungeon level, then spam your highest level leveling dungeon or do PoTD, depending on which one has faster queue times
50-70 is just spamming dungeons iirc, and then you can either continue to do that to get to 80 or do Bozja if you have that unlocked
also to make sure to do daily leveling roulette

They overmelded it. You need do complete the side quest "Melding Materia Muchly" which allows you to overmeld gear, though in order to be able to self meld you need an appropriately leveled crafter
