My alt job level 30 BLM so I spend on Ironworks gear casting so by the time I am a level 50 blackmage I already have his gear. Getting 2000 is more or less easy and sometimes you miss the tomes because you did not spend it.

you literally either need 3 gold from the items listed or you just follow the easy 100pts/80pts sections

moltres, you see the blue dots in this image? those are places that cornu can spawn. he can only spawn in this zone, at these spots. he can spawn at any one of them randomly. he can only be at one spot at a time, and if he has been killed, he will not spawn for 4~hrs. if you look here every 4hrs or so you've got the best luck at finding him

I don't know about fast, but another way to gather is leveling up your retainer as a gatherer, and you can send them out to look for most materials that you yourself have gathered at least once. That's a more long term commitment though
