This might be an odd question but for tanks who just would like to make their leveling/dungeon experience as smooth as possible what materia should I meld into my gear(pld)

I've just noticed when I play healer and tanks that are in same duty who dont seem to take much dmg seem to be having like fully melded materia

For leveling? Honestly, none

It's not needed really and would be a waste of resources

Plus, people with full melds mostly have lvl 80 gear and the materia used have offensive attributes (unless they are weird)

So it's not the materia that makes them take less dmg

You can slap some tier 6 in there since they're guaranteed to be removed, but don't go out of your way to get some

He kept topping everybody off and when I had half a second to cast cure, he topped the person off before my cure was done casting. I had half a mind to tell him to stop and let me do my job. Where stuff gets harder but you still lack some skills

@tiny spoke Gladiator is a bit better at attracting stray monsters, but Marauder hit harder and you can just manual pick his target.
Melee DPS sucks so avoid it. Arcanist can throw a small heal but that's it. Archer is straight forward and don't need to cast.

so as far as buying crystarium/augmented crystarium, buy the pieces as part of your bis first

also, if you PF shiva there is a very high chance you will be stuck on her for weeks or even months

on shiva, every single player pretty much needs to play perfectly for the entire 14 minute fight or else you wipe

so even if you personally make 0 mistakes, one of the other 7 players being slightly off means you get wiped

you may want to strongly consider finding a static if you intend to clear that boss

not to say it can't be done in pugs, just that you will need a lot of patience

You have to make a party through PF if you want to queue unsynced into an instance.

Otherwise you won't get matchmaking and will go into the instance solo.
