I leveled 4 of my crafters through ishgard restoration and it works well enough

I leveled all my crafters from around 40 to 80 through Ishgard Restoration in about 3 or 4 days
BUT I did spend 5m gil
So, do with that information what you will

and that includes the time spent hopping worlds to find the best prices for mats, upgrading gear as I went on

From what I've been able to tell, you can only really listen to the OST through people playing the dungeon and muting everything except the BGM, then uploading that to YouTube for example

So Nemesis for the final boss and A Fine Death for the mid dungeon bosses

Almost all content are usually done with match making, the game has daily reward for experienced players to help out new players. Even older contents can be match made.

thr main story can be a treat if you get into it, and is done mostly solo except for dungeons and 8mans, the game does an excellent job of teaming you up with others when the content calls for it, get it through the main site. You’ll save yourself a lot of legwork in the future, trust me. Main story if you ignore everything else is over 250hrs; this is a seven year old developing story, but it’s an engaging one. And yes there is a lot of endgame content to an extent, endgame is typically four “savage fights” every two patches and an extreme fight every patch @feral gale

a good portion of the game will be spent in dungeon/trial instances (gated like 90% behind the main scenario quest) meaning grouping is forced in the sense that for those instances, you will be playing with other people, in terms of overworld and msq you will be perfectly fine but like i said, everything is gated behind the msq

its a very large game so yes, if you look in the right place you can find plenty of new and old players alike

different licensing, if you get it on steam you are locked to steam for future expansions and vice versa. if you wanna switch you would have to buy the others license which is essentially buying the same game again, so make sure you know which you wanna do, but i feel like the pc version of ffxiv is alot less finnicky atleast when it comes to getting into newer expansions (steam has a record of botching expansion release)

im not gonna sugar coat it, the early part of the main scenario is sort of a bore, towards the mid game aka the expansions, the stories really pick ups and is actually incredibly engaging narratively speaking

it depends on what kind of activities, but like the main things are the savages progression and ultimates, once you have those on lock thats pretty much it in terms of hard end game content until the next 2 patches where the new tier comes out. in terms of other end game activities, theres crafting and alot of other little things you can do to whittle the time.
