I feel like I might've already completed the quest that counts as a 'promotion,' and for whatever reason it just didn't count? really hoping I'm not stuck lmao

Newbie here, question I guess that's more feedback/opinion based. I just started playing not too long ago with a buddy of mine and started off as a Conjurer/White Mage. Been mostly doing the MSQs and having fun. I'm not really big on MMOs but I'm digging this game's story atm.
Anyway my question is mostly on I'm not really sure what job would fit me. Is this the right place to get suggestions? I've been playing White Mage and I enjoy healing in dungeons/primal battles but sometimes I feel like if my party has their head on straight, I'm not doing much. Also when doing content solo the White Mage feels pretty underwhelming. Sometimes I like to play something flashier/more exciting. More proactive? I played Thief for a bit on the side and found the solo combat more engaging, but I don't know how fun DPS can be in dungeon runs. I like to play a job that's more proactive but also one with pressure. Feeling at a lost.

Yeah level 50 atm. About to wrap up what I believe is the final dungeon of the game's opening storyline? Experience has been mix, though I imagine is just cause sometimes I get Duty Finder with vets who just steamroll the content I'm in.
