Such is the life of a multiclasser.

I mean, from my experience, relics are the only true grind. The rest of "grind" is actually "for this, you need to have completes this quest, for which you need to have done this dungeon and hand in this specific drop you get from a normal raid. Then you need to unlock this trial with them and clear extreme. THEN you'll have the prerequisite item." So basically heaps and heaps of complicated prerequisites.
but yeah relics can be grueling.

hah, this game has way too much content to ever be "done". There's the MSQ, obviously, then there's optional content (raids, alliance raids, unlockable dungeons and trials), then crafting/gathering, beast tribes, market board, relics are a huge thing, minions, mounts, titles, GLAMOUR (the true endgame), alt jobs, gearing up alt jobs...
I started the game almost a year ago and I'm still way overwhelmed with the amount of stuff I need to do.

mada: equipment upgrade options really depends on what you can do now (pre-5.3). unlocked eden norm is "easy" (sic) 480 but there's no upgrade options from that. neo-ishgard equipment depends on crafting (self or fc) or gil for market board + phanty tomes to upgrade to 490. if you already have a mix of eden and crafted or tome then it's really down to more tome equipment, upgrading crafted (neo-ish), weekly drop from nier, or just plain waiting for 5.35 relic.
it's hard to say in text since don't know where you are now item level wise (assuming doing eden as no gil cost upgrade and from there to tome and nier set)
