how do you go above second flame leutenant? or cant do it still in ARR?
1000 potency
Alot. You should be using it on CD

is it okay to use cracked clusters (materia VI i think) to just trade in to sell on the MB?
i have a few i never ended up using
thx
What's the fastest way to get 37 million XP for 79 to 80? I already used my MSQ and leveling bonus today.
t7's are mainly used for overmelding, so if you don't see yourself making use of them for that then yeah go ahead and sell on marketboard @trail prairie
what's the highest damage from a single ability in the game?
ty
I've seen 150k+ tech finish
Techincal step or Ninja ice shurkirens
@leaden ginkgo do the rest of your roulettes. Do Pixie dailies. If you're still short spam Mt. Gulg
I heard shb fates can give a lot of exp didn't try personally tho
Good idea! I had forgotten about the Pixie dailies :o
Saw someone mention tech has done 200k, but I haven't seen it
idk about highest damage. i imagine top four are Drill, Tech Finish, Xenoglossy, and Midare
not necessarily in that order
how much does higanbana buff the next attack? 50%?
Yes
Yes but potency is not the same for one job as another
Dancers usually end up with the highest single damage instance in any fight they’re in outside of Limit Breaks
Simply because Tech Step is in fact that good
Yeah, i dont doubt that. Just saying that you cant compare potency between skills from two different jobs and know which hits harder.
Is the drop chance for ‘Antique mail’ any different than the other antique pieces? Ran snowcloak 11 times and only got the other ones
what's drill?
Machinist skill
Machinist skill
MCH 700 potency ability
Machinist things
!action Drill
And thry can make that guaranteed direct critical hit
Pairs with Assemble for dcrit
!action Reassemble
cool
hyosho
That way I can dump all my aiming gear
Samurai is the definitive hard hitting melee
all the melee dps are kinda equally set, and then samurai played properly goes screeeeee
So coming from that you might notice your red numbers going down a little bit
DRG does fine DPS, but it doesnt have any really "stand out" single absurd hit like the skills we've been discussing.
It does have some of the flashiest skills in the game though
ah okay, I heard it has many ogcds
Starfire dive? Yes please.
yeah dragoon has a lot
sounds fun, I'm gonna keep leveling it
It’s got lots of OGCDs but notably not a lot of time to use them
You cannot double weave jumps
Or you will clip
Yeah dragoon really requires you to know what you can and can't do
Every single time
ranking melee dps, nin drg and mnk are all kinda close to each other
and sam pulls ahead
gotcha
That doesn’t mean DRG is less useful than SAM tho
yeah
good!
drg has some actual utility
As someone who feels a personal affinity to DRG
DRG has really nice buffs, especially to a single ally
my first job back in ARR
plus certainly on aoe it will chunk the hell out of mobs with proper usage of geir/nastrond
I'm really glad that the meme went from floortank DRG's to freestyle SAM's
Oh don’t worry
probably because the shitty DRG's all rerolled SAM
you do have to kinda deal with the fact that all of its aoe tools beside dragonfire dive are lines/cones.
because he's the haha XIV funnyman, haven't you heard
also, I saw some ppl on youtube averaging 22k dps as sam on savage raids. I tried against a dummy and I have like 15k. how's this possible? okay their rotations may be better (100%) and maybe they have more than ilv480 gear that I have. but that's a huge damn difference to me..
22k in burst possibly
And with party buffs
outside of absolute bis I'd be surprised if you can sustain that on sam
You should never compare dummy damage to raid damage
yeah, any sam will inevitably have dance partner if a dnc is present
Food, pots, party buffs etc
and party buffs aligned. and burst.
What is the average damage for a BiS white mage?
Throw a Dance Partner on him, throw up a trick attack, and I dunno let’s throw Embolden out too for good measure
Oh and give him a melee card
and battle lit. and battle voice.
You should never compare dummy damage to raid damage
because of party buffs and foods as they mentioned or..?
Ehh that’s too many DPS Thooo
don't forget devilment
That was implied under dance partner
Raid buffs, food buffs, the passive stat buffs for being in party, etc. etc. etc.
Dummy damage is a worthless measure, basically
ahh oki
also why stone sky sea is a terrible measure for your capability
So yeah a big giant Midare under raid buffs is gonna hurt
150k direct crit go brrrrr
^
also why stone sky sea is a terrible measure for your capability
wdym?
followed by another 150k direct crit
literally the above reasons
stone sky sea is you hitting a dummy for 3 minutes and it says 'congratulations you are ready for savage'
nah
well, it's still good to practice your rotations. no?
so is hitting any dummy at all
Coincidentally that 150k direct crit is why it works out best that DNC buffs come out last in the raid buff window
Because the first DNC buff to come out is accompanied by a 1500 potency nuke
So having Trick on for that is very nice
Are pixies the only ones with a tribal quest in ShB or are there others?
Also, does the XP given by tribal quest scale to my level? For example, can I go back to HW or ARR tribes and still get millions of XP?
Pixies are the only combat beast tribe in ShB
There's also qitari tribe in ShB, but it's for gatherers. The quests from past expansions cap out at the level cap for that expansion.
Oh, okay! I didn't realize there were dailies for non-combat jobs too :o
Stormblood and Heavensward have two combat beast tribes each so the EXP from dailies is kinda spread between them as compared to the pixies
Gotcha! That'll be good to know for the next job I level. Thank you very much :o
But even then, they only are good EXP up until the level cap of their expansion
Good story though regardless of XP
Why might I not have completed 'mapping the realms' for an area even though I've been there and been all around it?
Probably a small part of the map you're missing
map completion can be finicky
Like a small corner or puddle
I didn't get amh araeng til i flew over a very specific spot yesterday
Open your map and look for white spots
OK I now see where it must be.
There's one of the 'red pins' that isn't surrounded by map.
Well, turns out there was a 'there' there.
!faq altlvlguide
does anyone know if there is a setting to turn off the bloom/blur around your character?
i'm trying to make make some char. ref, but i can't get a clean selection because of the weird shadow blur
Oh my god
Nevermind, i had depth of field on

How should I be deciding whether to diurnal or nocturnal sect? I feel like diurnal is way more MP efficient, and we're pressed for MP to begin with. But I just had a ghastly bad Gubal leveling run with people taking damage all over the place, I feel like straight up shields may have avoided more deaths than regens saved me MP.
Diurnal is flat out bettwr
diurnal is more mana efficient yeah
for dungeons though, its mostly personal preference
You go nocturnal when shields are REQUIRED for the content or your co healer is another Astro
both are fine, tbh
Its fine to be Diurnal with white mage
what's the recommended gear for lvl 31 crafters?
I feel like straight up shields may have avoided more deaths than regens saved me MP.
Or is this faulty thinking and would the shields not have given more survivability?
make my own, buy HQ, or buy from vendor?
HQ gear if youre able to as it definitely helps out
its hard to say without being in the run itself, tael
But otherwise vendor gear is mostly fine
but chances are no it wouldn't have mattered if you were diurnal or nocturnal
Hmkay, so AST shields aren't the "more MP cost, strong heals" kinda deal? They're really purely the 'need more eHP or you're dead' thing?
its pretty much like sch shields
Are there any places one can go to find groups for extreme trails for quest completion?
but without the ability to crit shield
put up a party finder group, most people are willing to do those unsync'd
Ahh
I've been using duty finder constantly but as a DPS player it tends to take forever.
My bf was telling me something about ishgard being rly good for leveling you gather/crafters what elvel can you start that
20 after unlocking it
is it better than just grinding normally?
Its very comparable to leves
if so ill swap ive been grinding mythril for like an hour
hmm alright ill check out how to unlock it
ty!
You never just raw grind
how do i put a skill in a macro?
you do /ac "skill name" @simple pine
as the command
however i'm hoping you're not using that for gcds
because thats inherently not good
Fair I'm returning after a short break to the game so kind of forgot how people rarely use duty finder it took me like an hour when I had to do Ultimate weapon to find a whole group with it
at what lvl u leave stormblood?im 65 and i really dont like that xpac
So are the beast tribe quests for 5.3 for sure going to be crafting related?
yes
you can sell them on the marketboard if you don't intend to use them
that said, retainer acts as both your bank and auctioneer
Where can I find lvl 6-8 fates?
To level up warrior
Do hunting log. Its vastly superior if you havent done it already.
I have the 1st one completed, but need to be lvl 10 for the next one
I’m at 8
So a couple of fates should do it
Or a run of 1-10 floors at potd, maybe that’s faster?
Probably. idk, i havent done low levels without preferred bonus in a long time. like, since ARR long.
It’s a pain
Stupid question - do you have the exp bonus ring?
What's the term for 'GCD has triggered, animation has started, but after about .2 seconds game decides nah and doesn't do anything'?
If not you should go get it
Looking at you MCH
Refunding
@simple shore haha I do have the ring
That it?
Mhm, it refunded your gcd
Like, 'I have pressed heat blast, heat blast has happened, but game decided hypercharge ran out'
now I'm sitting here like a fuckin moron losing a gcd on wildfire
probably crit>dh>det
Comfy sks (pld wants around 2.4s) > crit > dh > det
at a guess, cause everything uses that
Yeah every job has some SkS/SpS level they want. Or dont want.
after that its pretty much Crit > DH > Det for nearly everyone
okay
if you have neo-ishgardian gear, that has some fairly generous sks allocation
That depends on the server
Every economy is different
Given that you're on Primal
I am not done with shB so I can't craft any 80 stuff
I highly suggest you check out Famfrits MB, it tends to be dirt cheap

neo-ish tends to be 50k a pop on crystal, dunno how that compares to content chasing DCs but it's not too bad
Is there a guide or table somewhere to see which ast regens and shields overwrite other ast, whm or sch abilities?
(or can someone list me stuff? :( )
Regens generally will not overwrite each other, unless its from the same source (for ast that its, not the case with white mage)
Ast regens stack with all but another astro, shields don't stack with scholar shields
On exodus it's like 100k per item
di asp.benefic will overwrite a di asp. benefic
noct asp.benefic will overwrite everything from scholar
di intersect will overwrite everything from scholar
di asp.benefic will stack with Regen, as does every aspect of di ast and whm's kit
in short, don't noct with a scholar
and watch your intersects
Usually if it doesn't stack it.typically says it
All ast regens from a single ast stack on top of eachother too? I can asp ben and asp helios, collective, celestial all on top of eachother for massive overheals?
Whats even the point of undraw
its a hold over from sb more or less
Wow, really? that got deleted
Trash
there isn't one
you can pretty much take it off your hotbar
yes, that got deleted because this isn't place to make such comments
doesn't matter if it was a joke or not
@jolly sorrel yes
Mmm, ok.
everything from a single astrologian will stack
Hmkay, very cool. Same with shields then, just to confirm? I can cast four stacking shields on a tank?
just bear in mind hots don't do anything to synastry
If they're completely different shields that aren't scholar shields
Bension and TBN stacks with noct shield
oh wait hang on
Asp Ben, asp helios, celestial and collective shields?
ignore me, pardon - noct ast intersect will be a regen
Bene and helios give the same shield
Regens too?
Different regens
Gee
asp.benefic and then asp.helios only applies Nocturnal Field so it doesn't do anything
Honestly unless you're forced into Noct because double AST its almost always better to be in Di
however asp.benefic and asp.helios DIURNAL do stack
Regens typically stack but shields are slightly more picky
because the shields are lower throughput than the regens, and as such are only particularly beneficial if they prevent someone from being oneshot
and higher mp cost ^
Yes, that too
Okay, so three self stacking shields or four self stacking regens, regens stack with whm but shields not with sch
And no two ast stack with eachother
I stand by my original deleted comment, because it was mostly not a joke, tbh. nearly only reason to be in Noct is because double AST
noct sect may not be as mp efficient as diurnal, but that doesn't make it bad
its perfectly useable
rather odd question but I’ve been playing a lot of Sam and got some time so might level a monk
Basically just consider it like
ast singular = yes
di ast+whm = yes
noct ast+ sch = yes
noct ast+ whm = yes i guess
every other situation is a no
Not sure its an appropriate question here, but does anyone know, or know where I could ask, about how to use reshade to fix the bright weather of shadowbringers? I have light sensitivity and can't play the game because of how much it hurts my eyes to look at a lot of the terrain and towns.
How is monks gameplay with the positionals
Seems hella effort to constantly move
Or is that over stated
its a bit overstated
there's a lot of them. Between Riddle of Earth and TN though you barely have to follow positional requirements tho
as most of the time you can position yourself to be able to have very little movement
You get into a rhythm at a point
!faq positional
Where the flank meets the rear
You can basically hover near the "ass corner" portion so that you don't have to move that much
Thr ass corner as you will
@proven wadi it isn't a solution to your problem, but open this at your own risk of spoilers ||Bright-ass sky isn't forever||
Ah I see that’s awesome visual thanks
Noct Asp Ben seems great on paper if you're in content where you need a lot of oh shit buttons in a row, like a roulette with a crappy tank.
Instant shields on gcd
And in terms of their rotation is it similar to Sam in terms of fluidity
Its very rapid
synastry B2 heals for like 60% of a tank's health in roulettes
Yea I saw about that, || Im struggling to reach that point purely because of how uncomfortable it is to play. I can't read text boxes if the camera is panned over the crystal wall in Ahm or the tile floor in crystarium. ||
so it's like, overthinking it
As in a tonne of buttons rapid
Eesh, unfortunate then - I don't use reshade so sorry I can't help
Very quick GCD
Latency dependent ?
sam is also rather quick by 80
you can get away with sam with highish ping
as with mnk, mostly
I think I have good latency
the only job you're gonna get screwed on with latency is mch
Just gone through monk skills and it doesn’t seem all that crazy
it really isn't
Synastry has a long cooldown though, if the tank only screws up every two minutes may as well go diurnal
@proven wadi have you tried lowering the gamma in system settings?
Iirc gl4 gets it like near 2s?
monk is damned simple once you understand the form rotation
Monk requires thinking outside the box a lot more than sam
^
Yeah I like the face roll though ahah
it's another 'how do I make the best out of a very simple toolkit' job
like red mage
Ah I see
Monk is basically "is this stance buff/debuff up? If use, use damage skill, if no, apply buff/debuff"
Rinse repeat
only with more caveats
Rdm seems proc based thoug
Punch fast
Monk seems like go nuts every minute or so
yeah it has like. some burst.
depends on your proc reaction/luck on how many TFCs you can get, but beside that
So as simple as rdm but not as procy
once learned, yeah
monk i'd say is notably harder to pick up if only because it makes less sense in its presentation
but can be explained much more simply
I quite like the presentation through stances
tbh RDM doesnt feel very proc-based. I mean, the procs help, but they're not like....make or break to your gameplay, and accel guarantees them. On RDM i never feel like "oh, i got a bad string of luck, my damage is now terrible"
I haven’t played any job which is massively proc based
They just pop up and it’s nice
DNC is the RNG job, if anything
I quite liked the look of monks ‘burst window’ as it were
that and BRD
Looked kinda rewarding
Yea i tried everything in game setting wise. I'll just try to push through it if I can.
Worst come to worst I'll just have to get a friend to play through it for me or wait till next expansion so I can get a ShB skip
What is the name of the paladin’s skill that throws what seems like a snowflake above him? (A bit like WHM’s holy)
For eternal bonding, is this local time?
yes
so based on my system time then
yes (local system clock time)
kk thank you
what is the difference between the "complete edition" and "collector complete edition", i see the description and both are the same, just one is more expensive than the other im not seeing something here?
complete collectors edition includes in game items (glamours, minions, mounts) but it otherwise the same thing as complete (arr/base game + shadowbringers)
Complete edition gives you everything you need for the game
Collector edition gives you sone bonus cosmetic stuff and mount
the 30 days game time applies to arr within complete edition
D;
one of the product images should show the extras
i see the cosmetics aspects is the difference
ty so much for the help o/
can i upgrade a free trial account into a standard one?
yes, by buying the Starter Edition
(or any version which includes a Starter Edition code)
This channel is for new or returning players to ask questions and discuss Final Fantasy XIV. As a reminder this channel is a troll free and an off-topic free zone. For general discussion please use #general-discussion. <@&473626701947994134> are available to help in this channel. Thank-You, Kupo!
I’d suggest the complete if you like the game
for example,. i will download the free trial version game, and just to see the graphics and stuff and if i my pc runs well, then i will get the complete edition, to change my "fre trial mode" and upgrade it to the edition i will buy i do that in the page or..
yo whats up everyone! just hit level 80! is there some sort of a guide on what to do? this game is soooo overwhelming lol. Like what should my daily goal / weekly goals be? which tokens to farm etc
!faq gearguide
tl;Dr
430- job quest/amurot stuff
450- Eden 1-4 normal
480- Eden 5-8 normal (weekly locked)
480 is considered "savage raid ready"
You can also skip to 480 with crafted gear off the Market Board
I don't recognize it
its an A rank
crystarium i think
you can't get to 500 currently without raiding
it's an A rank?
Its a A rank in the Lochs
yes
Yes
weird, I don't recognize that part of the map
You'll be able to obtain the Crystarium Upgrades without raids in 5.3
I have to admit i didnt spent much time in the lochs though
ohhhh i see
The lochs is pretty bland outside ala mhigan side
so right now my main goal is get to 480 to prepare for savage raids
yes
http://cablemonkey.us/huntmap2//The_Lochs_-_Luminare.jpg the northwest blue dot is where it is
also additional note: you can't upgrade the weapon until later in the patch
Since it's only the gear and accessories upgrades which are initially available
i see. thanks man! but right now, best way for me to use my tomes is to exchange it for crystarium right?
use your allegory tomes for Crystarium yes
Only thing you can use allegory on
awesome! appreciate the answers guys
I want to get into pseudo-supports/buffers. I just unlocked dancer, my Bard is at 36, but I haven't unlockeds astrologian yet. Of the three, which is the best at supplies buffs for the entire or majority of the party? PS, i'm playing stormblood atm.
er
thats a complicated question
depends on definitions
but just play AST tbh
spare yourself the queues
Bard has constant buffs for the party with songs but the effects are minor. Dancer has a permanent damage up buff on 1 person and occasionally crit/dh buff and party damage buff
Astro has cards they can dish out every 30s and a party damage buff every 3mins
Do Bards' songs make a difference?
yes?
they do what they say on the tooltip...
are you asking if the tooltip is a lie

There is a difference
But it is not like "wow, everything is doubled"
Sort of difference
The dev sorta kinda know what they are doing (more than us anyway)
What I mean is, on a scale of 1 to 10, how big of a difference is a party with vs without a bard?
classes are well balanced
a party without a BRD makes up for the BRD in a reasonably equivalent way
And are bards and dancers two interchangable classes?
The only bad way to make a party is to have duplicates
all the classes are technically interchangeable as long as you have fulfilled the right role arrangement
duplicates cost you limit break gain speed
there is no one class that's going to have such an effect on the party
As unusual as this is, game is surprisingly balanced
anyone got the music sheet for dearly beloved for bard?
apparently, from what i've heard, a ranged physical dps is a hard requirement for E8S though. I did not understand why but something to do with stunning?
I wonder whether it was just an exaggerated "soft" requirement
It isnt a.hard requirement
...maybe I should stay a black mage and scholar main.
why?
Its due to the fact one sidr has 2 earthen aethers that need to interrupted
what was the issue with our answers that makes you feel so bad about exploring new frontiers
and/or why are you seeking to change main?
give us more information please @royal lichen
Either you interrupt with tank and range OR you burst one down quickly while tank interrupts the other
Anyone know if it will go on sale once path 5.3 coems out and the trial is extended?

I main a scholar, but i'm afraid that my healing and damage mitigation might get my parties killed. SO maybe is I played a pseudo support, like bard or dancer, I can still help people, but not be the cause of a party wipe
i understand the axienty
in content that's actually difficult, any class or role can get the party wiped
i might not be able to heal or shield fast enough
sorry if this has been asked before but me and a friend wanna know and we cant find a clear answer
Thats just.part of learning the job and the fight
I think that just comes with play time and practice
take for example the fury's fourteen mechanic in Fulmination Savage: if any single player is not aligned with their spear and the tank fails to invuln and use the duty action, any single one of those players failing can wipe the entire raid
wait nvm someone responded
you should get used to personal responsibility regardless of role, as it will apply at some point regardless of role as you explore further dificulties
but if you want to be fast consider AST
Healing in this game is scripted out the ass (outside of baddies being hit by aoes)
I got sick of how slow SCH was and switched back to AST for a while
Can I claim the version from the SE store on steam?
it's definitely stressful foursie. i havent done savage content myself but in my experience you just gotta practice and it'll become more comfortable as you play
I switched off AST when the cards were changed because I thought it was less fun, despite that I think it's healthier for the game.
You cant
I still think it's less fun than it used to be, but i still prefer it's cast times over the other healers
healing is one of the easiest roles in the game imo
Steam permanently locks you to it
I agree with @remote lintel but I might be biased as I healed for like 2 xpacs before experimenting with other roles
I'm OT in my static now and it's been just a few weeks so far
something else to help keep in mind is that you have a second healer who will also be healing the party and helping you out as well
i got a healer pretty late into my playtime
and now i main healer for savage
its really not that hard
i would practice healing using trials/raids that you know very well so that you can predict damage
@royal lichen so now what do you think? have we comforted your concerns at all?
Wait so if I started a character on the steam version it wont go over to the Square Enix version?
No
you can't even have the square enix store version
Yes you have, but I have another... more petty reason...
your account will be considered to already have a pc version of the game, so you can't even buy it on the same account @fringe lotus
You would need a new account
Oh... rip
why rip?
Kinda lame but I get it
neither version is inferior
No but I already grinded out a decent amount on the steam version
so stay on it then
Yes, I will I just got excited cause I was about to buy the SE version cause it's on sale
And they literally just had one
you can upgrade your collector's editions on the website and get them on the steam version too
Like last month and abit
I want to stand out from the other Scions and characters in the MSQ, we have a pugilist, a thaumaturge, Alphinaud is technically a scholar, Alisaile is a paladin/red mage. Everytime I do a msq I stick out like a sore thumb...
?
Don't understand the all caps rage I get it lol I was just askin questions m8
story characters change jobs too
it was actually a mistake
caps lock got hit and i typed the answer without looking caus eim fighting in game
y'shtola is a conjurer in ARR
alisaie isn't a paladin, just by the by
both alphinaud and she are arcanists at the start
some of them have unique job names
it's pretty cool since they dont fit the jobs so tightly anyway
its a nice touch
...
anyway if thats your line of thinking you;ll never be satisfied
that moment when four people are running up on the warriors of darkness with books.
Me, Alphinaud, Alisaile, and Urianger...
bro you can summon bahamut with that book though
well urianger changes jobs in SHB
alisaie before that too
i thought she was a blm
not until ShB
anyway like
there's very few classes that a main NPC isn't
at some point
be a tank
warrior isnt one of the scions tho
Moenbryda... and Thancred
i suspect that will matter to him eventually though as they're still central characters
basically you're telling yourself you cant play any classes
I finished Heavensward, i'm in Stormblood.
i think the better line of thinking would be anything you can do to assuage yourself from thinking that way because it's only going to give you mental distress if you care that much about it
there's 1 and maybe 2 prominent WAR npcs that have story ramifications, albeit not scions
Moenbryda will be alive in our hearts, as will Haurchefant
just pick whatever you want
^
lol you should probably tag these as spoilers in this chat
even if you play sch you'll have a fairy and no other npc will
big oofs, sorry
what classes the npcs played has never actually really mattered to a story beat, so nah
it's basically never been an actually relevant detail as far as i can remember
make your character stand out by being the prettiest one out of all of them

i mean
Its only relevant when they change and theres a scene to explain it
my rdm equipment set is named alisaie <3
did they explain how it was relevant for thancred?
Yes
when
||He picked up the gunblade for defense, explained when meeting with Urianger||
||he picked up gunblade while in the garlemald provinces||
er...
Yes dakax you'll get 3 if you craft it
To go to a guild, let’s say the marauders guild, I have to teleport to the main plaza and then to the guild? That’s the fastest way?
ah ok
not to be a dick and im not gonna repeat the spoiler
but that barely actually mtaters to the story
@lavish vortex yep
like it's a spoiler in the merest technical sense
I could be a machinist. Like the great gunners before us... Yuna, Mami Tomoe, and Homura Akemi...
nobody's going to be disappointed to find that out early and you already know he takes the job if you watch the opening cinematic
does the regular eden gear and edenchoir have the same stat for the same pieces?
@ionic hazel no they have different ilvls
@ionic hazel Edenchoir is the high end raid gear
if you want to stand out from the scions though in regards to jobs pretty much pick one of the expansion jobs except for gnb/rdm/ast for the most part
He wants tonknow if they give the same substats

No they're different

ah thanks
is it ok to have critical hit
for all your gear
looking to replace some neo gear that dont have critical hit with eden gear that has critical hit
If you've hit your sks/sps tier and can afford to swap
Its fine to
Especially if you haven't overmelded the neo-ish
Since 2 slots is always 2slots
i dont agree with channy's answer
i mean like
the better response is
Besides if it was bis last tier
building blocks
it doesn't really matter if you're not at max ilvl
cause not bis = variable where your gear is going to come from and what you'll have access to
off to crit stacking we go
i disagree with kael too
i mean don't pull your hair out over it but like, what crystarium and what eden pieces you ge
can be optimized a bit
I mean ilvl does matter but don't go nuts
instead of spending randomly
if you're not doing savage, then whether you're in full neo-ishgardian or not it doesn't make or break anything
i eventually plan to do savage
so there's no reason to make a low ilvl BiS list
Even if you are doing savage full neo-ish isnt a necessity
like what i posted is ilvl 488 so far from bis but i've still optimized for crit with what i have access to and i think it was worth it as i didnt go way out of my way to make it happen
Overmelding
You need to level crafters
ah
it can only be done by crafters and can only be done to green crafted gear
you need a crafter at lvl80 to overmeld
or ask someone to overmeld for you
You can request a crafter to do it for you
so its basically only useful if you're raiding like the immediate week of raid release
it doesn't take long for access to blue gear of similar or higher ilvl to the crafted stuff to start becoming accessible
And currently only neo ishgardian can be overmelded for combat gear
Honestly not melding at all ain't even the end of the world
maybe if the primary substat of the crafted piece of the same ilvl is crit, then it would be a better piece than a same ilvl blue item of crit cause you can have more of the next substat but i'd say that's the pulling out your hair to optimize non-bis gear thing that i advocated against
hello?
I love how this channel is blooming with activity. Could I get someone bored to 1v1 me in dms so I could ask some ultra beginner questions?
Dont wanna trash this with trash questions
If it's an honest question it's not trash.
@ionic hazel i gave you an example in #kupo-bot-spam
sorry for the @ in there prematurely in case you werent sure what i was trying to tell you
It cant be that bad either since I literally asked how to open a gate in gridania once
there's a bit of a write up with it too
No
the next step is eden savage gear
so theyre not really of use if u have neo gear
You replace the gear
unless you want it for glamour.
^
or if it has crit and your crafted pieces don't
The tank gear is gorgeous
You're not trying then. 😛

I heard that you're getting an update which reworks stuff and lets free players see more content (around 100hr + even some raiding). When is it coming? And should I just hop in right now? I'm kinda looking for a group (so the wait wouldn't be a problem) but also dont know where to look, would appreciate an advice. Also how important and difficult Healer and Tank roles are in this game? Sorry for the wall, I'm afraid I'd lose track of thought if I don't put it together
august 11 is when the trial and starter edition upgrades are happening
we're not completely sure if current trial users will receive the upgrade, but its likely they will
you can join a free company which are guilds
healing is one of the easiest roles in the game
tanks probably second easiest
tanks and healers are pretty important and they jave a big variety of rotation and playstyles
Right
oh they can't?
idk about healer tho havent played one yet
rip
Tanking and healing is simple for the most part, the key part is learning how to use cooldowns effectively
Thanks! And ouch, I was hoping you'd say stuff like "it's hard playing healer like a boss" but if cd's are low and you can just faceroll it shouldn't be hard
well ur still the one responsible for keeping the whole group alive 😎
Most healing is prep work for fights (applying buffs and such) beyond that it's DPS until someone's dying then heal them.
^
also white mage is basically the baby's first healing class if you're that unsure of your healing skills
So biggest part is learning the boss rotation
And remember what casts do
Which what everyone does
At what level can I join a guild? Like how much time would it take? Is the game a solo experience until I get to that point? Not that I'd have a problem with this
can join at lvl 1
Any level
To join an fc is any level
if you come to behemoth you can join mine ;)
Oh damn, then I really should just get in and bug people there lol
dungeons are all matchmaking
And joining an FC is optional.
people also tend to throw out FC invites at random people
so check those out if you want
If you're on Mana, give me a holler. I'll try and help
What is FC?
Guilds
How many people are max there?
not to be confused with grand company which are tied to the story
i notice that in general FCs are small in this game
512 i think is the number
Ty Aoi, I'll try to join it assuming it's a server
but i don't think it usually gets taht large
Makes sense, organizing 50 is already hard work I can imagine
But yeah, it's helpful, now I understand what's normal, TY!
If I started the trial on my steam account and then decided to buy the SE complete edition do I not get the included 30 day game time?
You wouldn't br able to use it
I dont think you can start it on Steam
Once you touch steam you cant go back
So I just have to make new account?
Yes
if i have a house on aether can i buy one on primal?
once the account is made in steam or in S-E store, it belongs to one or the other permanently in terms of product activations
If its a new character yes
@leaden ginkgo like with a different character? of course
1 house per character
You have to log on from site and connect it to steam somehow?
ight thats not an issue since I would be making a new account anyway, sorry for so many questions im totally new to this game and mmo's in general
@cursive niche you download the launcher on steam
Well, ranks are based on activity, not count. Many larger FC's have a lot of people in limbo waiting for 5.3
ok ty because once i tried buying a house but on the same server on another character and it didnt let me
and it links your account
Starting game up again what are some of the better servers to join
Server choice doesn't matter
Has anyone here have any experience with Eureka Pyros? I have a question about Logograms
Data centre does
uhhh
What about logos
I’m US
When you buy a copy/expansion on Steam, you're given your product code that you enter into mogstation. Then your game account is linked to the Steam copy. From that point on you have to run it from Steam which runs the launcher that downloads the game/login to the game.
server choice matters if you want to join a fre ecompany on that server specifically
like if your friends all have a FC on say, sargatanas
Then go any server on Aether, to primal or crystal
then try to get on sargatanas
What a RP
Roleplay
Ah
This may be a weird question but is there any way I can use two logos to create something to use for another?
I need Eagle Eye Shot to create Wisdom of the Fiendhunter but I have had no luck in getting it.
Damn. Oh well I guess I gotta get it raw. I wish they weren't so expensive but I get why
When you level up in pyros and hydasos you get a fair amount of logosgrams
So dont worry too much
I have been leveling up but have gotten like two types lol
I'm looking for rare and important role, preferably a hard one. Maybe I you could link me to a FAQ which answers this question? Maybe there's a boring buff or dispel machine which isn't a healer?
There's more types higher up
3 steps: logogram becomes mneme and mnemes make logos actions
I was 50 and had only gotten a handful of tactical and inimical
you cannot use a logos action to create another logos action
so you can only use mnemes to make logos actions
Yeah that's a shame
Buffing/debuffing isn't much of the thing but Astrologian might be good
Can't wait to be done with logo hunting
@cursive niche no roles are rare
there isn't really a rare role. most classes are played at high levels and are all pretty competitive in their own way
Active healer, busy and tosses out cards to buff others
Oh, that's really good, means you have nice balance and all classes are fun
hmm
When you're capped in pyros and hydasos you'll get a good amount of logos from.just farming mobs to spawn fates
i would say machinist is a bit rare
i don't see them that often
also black mage is a bit rare
you wont be able to play astrologian until you get to ishgard anyway, which is past the base game
i dont think either of them are bad or anything and i'm talking pretty marginally
most people think monks are wild to play at 80
if anything it might just be that they're a little tough
All classes are pretty well balanced, save for some minor nitpicks
for a "hard" class you could be summoner which has a 2 minute long rotation or black mage which has a pretty high skill ceiling since its a turret caster
You'll get people complaining about how "Job A is better than Job B" but for the average player the differences are minor. The fact that you're not locked into your Job also helps.
I'll look into machinist and bm, which do you think is more cool?
Its robots and guns vs EXPLOSIONS
machnist can summon a mech at 80
Machinist is ping-reliant
Yea, I don't care about how good a role is but I want it to be difficult with a payoff
machinist does have a tight hypercharge/wildfire window thats not pleasant to do if you have garbage ping
black mage is more difficult than machinist i'd say
If your ping time is above say 120ms then you’re not going to be able to compete as well
Machinist is ping-reliant
Now this is interesting
Black mages has big numbers but needs to leaen the fight to know where to position as its more of a turret
the melee classes get pretty intense because you have to manage your positioning
Well SMN would probably be your choice. There's a pretty big gap between average play and good play.
^
It’s due to the high number of oGCDs that have to be fit into the overheat window
i had this black mage in a CLEAR party of all things parse a 99 on E5S a couple weeks ago
it was pretty hilarious
Optimising smn is cbt
SMN is summoner?
they had like 97% uptime
Yes
Without clipping your GCD enough to lose a heat shot use
Also get bahamut and phoenix as summons so dope
A good SMN player is death on the battlefield but you have to really know your stuff.
@pure flicker I guess so, but I don't wanna be a rogue which dies in start of the raid, and there's probably enough tanks
Hey! Im kinda new to the game Im currently lvl 19 and lvl 16 in the MSQ. I really wanna unlock glamour but I read that I need to do a lvl 20 MSQ mission or smth to unlock a location where there is gonna be a npc that is gonna give me the dye quest and glamour quest. I just wanted to know the exact lvl of the MSQ quest and name
!faq glamour
'What is Glamour and how do I unlock it?'
Glamour is the process of changing an equipment's look into a different item with the use of Glamour Prisms. You can unlock the ability to glamour by doing the level 15 quests 'If I Had a Glamour' in Vesper Bay, West Thanalan. Although not required, you can unlock the ability to dye gear with the nearby quest 'Color Your World'. You can get the Orange Juice needed by talking to the nearby Merchant & Mender. Items used for glamouring are not lost upon use.
'How do I glamour? Where do I get more Prisms?'
Glamouring is done by right-clicking (Square or X on controllers) on the equipment you want to glamour and choosing the option 'Cast Glamour'. After clicking this you choose the item you want the appearance on the right half of the menu that opened up. You can get more Glamour Prisms by either crafting them after completing the quest 'Absolutely Glamourous', buying them from your Grand Company Quartermaster, or buying them from the marketboard.
@cursive niche actually while there is some degree of variation between armor class it's extremely subtle and hardly enough to make you drop dead more often than other dps players to regular damage sources
usually you're gonna die cause you stood in the wrong spot and its gonna kill you no matter what you play if you're not a tank
positionals aren't hard either
Monk, Dragoon and Samurai, which is the LAMEST in playerbase' opinion?
Monk
hang on
@jade quartz that didn't answer my question lol
Nice. So it's Monk vs Machinist
But that’s because of current playstyle problems which people dislike
cause there's 2 interpretations
some people would use lame to say broken
others would use it for not very fun
Monk is getting reworked in 5.4 to a extent so
which are you asking, first off
@leaden ginkgo the information you requested is in the first paragraph of that faq
Please reread it
we need the intent of your question before the answers make sense
I mean not fun
monk
thats how you were understood then,
the glamour quest doesn't have a specific msq requirement
people find aspects of monk a little frustrating at the moment
but its getting a rework next patch so it remains to be seen if that's gonna get better
@leaden ginkgo There is no precursor for it. You just have to get to Vesper Bay which can be done by taking a boat from Limsa
or if you started in uldah
it just requires you to be able to go to thanalan, which if your msq is lvl 16 then you already have airship acess
Or running from uldah
Oh, is it major or just buffs?
Oof my friend said I need a certain MSQ requirement
horizon is your closest aetheryte
Its a rework to their core gameplay
Like lvl 20 or more
nah theoretically you could do it as soon as you leave the city
Oh well
Of greased lightning
Thanks
No
speeD? no
I was wondering - does anyone know the fastest solo way to get the tanks mounts? A life hack would be appreciated ^^
@cursive niche it's gonna be more of a change to how the skills interact a bit. i think it has to do with its greased lightning positive self buff that is part of how it functions, but we dont know the details
Quick synth is guaranteed if you meet the minimum stat
something about it is unsatisfactory to play or maintain so they're gonna fix that
unfortunately I don't play MNK so i dont know the details :(
of what's wrong i mean
@leaden ginkgo If you can do the run you can also do it from Ul'dah.
we dont know at all what the change is yet
@leaden ginkgo garuda ex for the non armoured version
The receipe tells you
or any of the ARR ex primals that you can kill quickly
Maybe it's good because there won't be any guides and it would make sense to invent a wheel. Sounds cool
So probably monk! Thank you very much
@leaden ginkgo garuda ex for the non armoured version
@twilit arch Omg that counts? thank you! ♥
ya
@cursive niche when are you starting?
you sound like you're used to mmo endgames and probably want to get into raiding and stuff right?
Probably would download and try to play now, I got excited now xd
Yeah, would be cool. I thought that I should look for group since many people would also try to start with that f2p trial extension
i see
Bear in mind, the combat in 14 is slower than say WoW, and at early levels it's really noticeable.
is it actually slower or is it just that the slower gcd makes it seem slower while you don't have all your tools yet
its actually slower
i've never played wow
I don't mind, in fact I always get hyped when I see ff14 raids
wow's gcd is 1.5
yeah i know
I dont care about cooldowns
but that doesn't strictly mean the game is faster just cause the gcd is faster
And didn't play WoW
for example, if we weave more ogcds than they do in wow, then wouldn't it end up being equal
No
gcd isn't a measure of like, apm, or like, the speed of mechanics, etc
i have played both, and wow's combat is in general much faster
even though the 2.5s gcd isn't that noticeable at higher levels with more ogcds to weave, for someone who's coming from wow
its quite noticeable difference at lower levels
Imo it wouldn't matter, you still always will make mistakes right? As long as good players can excel it doesnt matter
yeah
tbh i don't even believe him
i think gcd does not necessarily correlate to the perceived speed of the game and we're not really getting a very 'scientific' (for lack of a better word) analysis
i really don't like wow comparisons though, wow lives rent-free in the heads of everyone who ever played it, like they can't be happy with anything else in the genre ever again so...
it's a boring subject at the end of the day anyway
and its not really that important
but the fact is that if someone's coming from a game with lower gcd, the 2.5s gcd is going to feel slower
especially at low levels
I only brought it up because at low levels combat can feel boring because of it's comparatively slow pace.
if you enjoy the story it's not really that big of a deal but yes
^
i didn't really have a problem with it because i like dthe msq
low-level lancer is possibly the most boring class in the game
its a fair thing to note for people
I don't think this is the game where people should be concerned with boredom, for me it's always a meditative experience until it gets actually hard
different strokes for different folks, if its not something that is a turn off or a bother for you
that's fine
then you'll enjoy this game
this game has tons of stuff to do, too
its kind of insane
people who complain about content droughts either are pouring their entire lives into the game, or are just not into side content, like people who are exclusively raiders
where can i exchange my bought mog stuff for the opposite gender version of it
Calamity salvager iirc. Ine of the options is for gender swap
not all items can be swapped
I saw something here about RP server. I have no idea how could this be, people actually commit as majority in the server? Social game is that strong? Im a big fan of sitting in chat for several hours
it means roleplay
not majority
pretending to be your character or w/e
it's very common on the servers Balmung and Mateus, on the Crystal datacenter
it's usually condensed to one or 2 worlds
also the Crystal datacenter has fewer raiders overall it seems, with a recent person's work showing far fewer clears on crystal than aether or primal
if you're very serious about raiding you may be unhappy on crystal
or you might be just fine, there are raiders here if you find them
or, frankly, putting together a whole group of people new to raiding is healthy too because you can all grow together
