||You are an adventurer and depending on the city state you go help them with whatever issues they are having and during this you meet a scion of the seventh dawn member who aids you. You find out whatever issues were caused by ascians, a weird shadowy mysterious group and the scion thanks you and the leader of your city rewards you with your service with a celebration where you discover you have a power called the echo and have a crystal of light gifted from Hydaelyn herself (the big crystal from the opening cutscene.) Your leader asks you to go to the other cities to basically just introduce you to the other nations and then you go do some dungeons basically and the scions of the seventh dawn scout and recruit you into their ranks and their are a independent party that helps the nations deal with beastmen and ascians and any other manner of threat. Your first task was to slay Ifrit and you investigate around Eastern Thanalan for clues and you get captured and Ifrit tries to temper you, bend your soul and mind to effectively turn you into a slave with no free will but the powers of the echo protects you from that fate and you are able to kill him. After that you kinda just help Gridania and blah blah.||

in my setup i put my direct attacks on my first hotbar and buffs/other things on my second hotbar, and my out of combat stuff on hotbar 8
