in that zone, as well as from locations on the map. The Aether Compass will guide you to them, which the MSQ gave you alongside that Black Chocobo. Refer to the menu Travel -> Aether Currents to see your current progress towards flying in any zone.

Retainers are your errandpeople/slaves (depending on your interpretation). You can sell items on the market board through them, and also if you're past the part in the MSQ where you you choose a grand company, you can assign them classes and send them on ventures

Once there, you can go to any capital city and pick up the quest "An Ill-Conceived Venture" that allows you to send your retainers on ventures. Until then, their only use is to store items/Gil for you and sell stuff on the market board.

@rocky tree Retainers and ventures are mostly useful if you're planning to craft and gather. They can farm you materials and sell the things you make to other players through the market board. They are in no way essential to the game. That being said, I'd get the two free ones regardless, because thwy have inventories that you can use to store stuff that doesn't fit in your inventory or armoury chest.

@rocky tree Yes. I recommend you set one to your main class, so it gains levels when going to ventures, and the other also to your main class, but after you pick up a gatherer, reset the second retainer and set it to botanist, miner or fisher.
Also note that the retainer's class cannot exceed your own. Say, a scholar retainer can only go as high as your own scholar is, the botanist is capped at your own botanist level etc

@nova umbra I use swiftcast for glare during certain movement mechanics in boss fights. How you use it is adaptable. For example in E7S, I use it to swiftcast + medica 2 when we split for puddles right before add phase comes up . I run to the front, instant medica 2 to put regen on everyone, then run south to get into position for Away with Thee.
The Balance discord is a really good resource for knowing how to efficiently play your job, I'd recommend you check it out. It's where I got those same answers.

If your GCD stops to use an oGCD, then that Glare is delayed a certain amount of time. If you do that multiple times in a fight, then you might get to cast less Glares in the fight that you would have by weaving the oGCD properly
Meaning your DPS is lower
So if you're going to use an oGCD in between two glares when neither are instant cast, be aware of the consequences
On WHM you don't have much weaving space so it might be unavoidable at times but yeah
something to keep in mind

You can use lillies to move, yes. Using lilies does have DPS attached to them since they give you access to Afflatus Misery. It comes out weaker than a Glare though since the 900 potency is divided between 4 GCDs.

The relic requires the base ShB story to be complete (and the SB alliance raids), but the free i430 gear is avalible as soon you get your first L80 MSQ.
The L80 job quests don't give any gear, only materia and a title.
