If the name of the element is blue, it is hidden; if it is white, it’s visible.

As far as I've seen, you can dye an item with any color, or none at all. I'm not sure I've come across an item that only allows specific dyes.

just giving a blanket theory, a lot of games and I think XIV probably does this as well, when you reach certain areas it will start to pre cache information to load because it assumes you will be going to a new area, its possible thats whats occurring in her game, so it could be either the hard drive is going bad or more likely the game has corrupted files and you should just have her reinstall the game

If you're not gathering for specific crafts then pretty much yeah gather whatever you can but you can only get stacks of 10 appraised when you come out so make sure you round off your stacks properly beforehand

You only need it for the last boss. If you’re doing the Alex Savage farm for it, that basically means you’ll have it equipped at all times. If it’s just dungeons though, you can use your normal stuff until you reach the end.
