Best way to get tier 8 materia is to join a hunt train, where they kill every A-rank Shadowbringers hunts in order. Every A-rank has a roughly 50% chance to drop a Stellacluster, plus they all give you Sacks of Nuts which you can use to get materia as well.

Augmented Allegory and Savage. It's a mix of the two to get the best substats for your class

#

To Augment Allegory, you need to do savage, or wait until you can get the upgrade items from the new 24-man raid that's coming out in 5.3

Info

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly in the expansion zones. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

In that case, your choices are either Pugilist (PUG) or Lancer (LNC) until you can travel to other cities, at which point you will be able to also select Rogue (ROG).

PUG becomes Monk (MNK) at level 30, and just as it sounds, is a fist-fighter type job. Of the four melee classes, PUG/MNK is the most dependent on "positionals" - skills which do more damage when the player is either at the rear or flank of an enemy (read the tooltips to learn which require which position).

Levelling them all at once is the better way to do it since they all share gearsets and you won't have to carry 8 different sets of gear at once. Plus their crafts usually require materials that are crafted by other crafters, and buying those on the marketboard instead of making them yourself will get expensive.

The only crafters that are somewhat self-sufficient are Culinarian and Alchemist (other than books for Alc)

#

So if you're only going to level one, do Culinarian

#

But if you want to levell all of them, do them all at once. It'll be slow but more manageable and cheaper.

Some attacks are dodgeable and don't have yellow AoEs. Example: Coincounter in Aurum Vale. 100-ton Swipe is a cone to his front, but it doesn't show it. 100-ton Swing is a big circle AoE around him, you still can't see it.

Garuda also has a frontal cone tankbuster that stuns, you can dodge it if you move behind her while she's casting it. I forgot the name though, but iirc she even uses it in normal mode
